January 9th 2019 – Sin Kills

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Sin… a tiny word, a huge problem. Think of all the problems in your own life caused by your sin. Think of all the problems in the world caused by the sin of others – wars, violence, stealing, laziness, and envy. On and on and on the list goes and grows. There is a saying, “Sin is the seed, and death is the harvest.” The bible has a lot to say about sin. It tells us that sin is not only the bad things we do, but also the good things we don’t do. When we fail to love, give or help, we are engaging in sin.

As long as we never do wrong and always do right, we don’t and won’t have a problem with sin. “Wow, that really helps!” That may sound easy to some. But the truth is, we are all sinners…

However the Bible tells us how to deal with past sins and how to deal with sin in the present and future. It is easier than you think. “Past sins,” you may ask? Ask for forgiveness.

(1 John 1:9-10) “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

What about dealing with our present sins? (Hebrews 12:1-2) says that we should strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up and that we should run with endurance the race God has set before us.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the winning coach, who initiates and perfects our faith. Here is a awsome truth, one you can trust even on Aprils Fools day. Don’t tell God you have a big sin problem, tell the sin problem that you have a Big God. Think about life, think about Jesus, and keep your eyes on Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for taking my sin upon You. I am sorry for the wrong things I have done and for the right I have failed to do. I confess my sins to You and ask for forgiveness. (Confess your sins, by act and by name to Him). Lord, thank You for helping me with my past and present sins. Help me to keep my eyes not on my sin, but on my Savior, Jesus. Help me to soar by casting off the weights of sin. Help me to live the life You have called me to live. I thank You for having a winning game plan for dealing with my Sin, In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Looking to ask Jesus into your life? Read Below..

Jesus says “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.” (1 John 11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

January 8th 2019 – Don’t Fall Victim to Mind Control

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (Philippians 4:8)

We decide what we put into our mouths. Food doesn’t simply jump in. We decide whether we will eat this or won’t eat that. We pick it up, take a bite, chew it (hopefully), and then swallow it. And when we start putting on weight, it’s happening because we put the wrong things in our mouths.

In the same way, we decide what goes into our minds. We let certain thoughts in, and we keep certain thoughts out. This is important, because the first temptation that came to Eve was to think wrong thoughts about God. We read in Genesis 3:1, “Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Notice that he didn’t come to Eve and say, “Hi. I’m the Devil, the enemy of God. You’ve probably heard about me.” No, he was more subtle. He came slithering in like a snake.

That is what the Devil is a thief, a liar and a killer. He has come to steal, to kill and to destroy you. The devil will assault and attack your mind.

That is why we need to control what goes into our minds. It is there that we dream. It is there that we contemplate. It is there that we reason. With our minds we can reach into the past through our memories and reach into the future through our imaginations.

So protect and train your mind to think properly and biblically, not emotionally or sinfully. Fill it with the Word of God.

“Don’t fall victim to the devils lies”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful You are a God of truth. May I always be gracious toward others, keep me from the enemies false flattery. I don’t want to be manipulated by his lies any longer. Teach me and guide me through Your written word and with Your Holy Spirit within me. You are the God of truth, so may I always embrace truth and resist every lie. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

This is no lie, Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves us and wants to help us. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus it’s the greatest decision you will ever make.

January 7th 2019 – Amazing Accuracy

“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,” (Ezra 1:1)

When you look throughout the Bible you will find amazing accuracy when it comes to history. What’s even more amazing is that many times the history we read in the Bible was actually spoken of before it happened. In the passage above, we read how God was stirring King Cyrus to help Israel. This is an awesome fact in and of itself but when we look back, we realize that God had this planned long before.

(Isaiah 44:28) “Who says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built, And the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”

Hundreds of years before Cyrus was in power, God had already told His people that it would happen. How awesome is God’s Word?! While many people may try and discredit the Bible, it has been proven 100% accurate in both its historical information and its prophecy. You and I can trust the Bible. There is no other book like it and there never will be another one like it. Why is this so important? Well, if the Bible is 100% accurate and it declares us to be loved by God Himself, then that is something we can hold onto no matter what life throws at us.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Your Word is so amazing. Thank You for using it to teach us about Your great love and the salvation we can find through Jesus. Help me to hold onto those important Truths and to also share them with others. Continue to teach me through the Bible as I seek after You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 6th 2018 – Sowing and Reaping

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” (Galatians 6:7)

There are these laws that govern everything we do in life. There is the law of gravity, discovered by Sir Isaac Newton. This particular law basically says all things tend to fall downward. Or, to put it another way, what goes up must come down. Then there is the law of thermodynamics, which effectively says that all things eventually will breakdown. Here is an example, If you parked and left a new car in a field, given enough it would eventually rust and decay.

And of course, don’t forget Murphy’s Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong (and usually at the most inopportune time, I might add).

Then there is the biblical law of sowing and reaping, found in (Galatians 6:7–8) “Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” (Galatians 6:7–8)

There is a negative and a positive side to this biblical law. If you sow to the flesh, you will reap corruption. You may think you’re getting away with things, but you won’t. It will come out eventually.

But you also will reap what you sowed for God’s purposes. Hopefully since you have accepted Jesus in your life, you try to live a life that pleasing to the Lord. This means there are things that Christian should not do..

As time passes, you’ll witness the people who went out and did all the things they did, and then you’ll look at your own life and say, “Thank God, I didnt go and participate in those reckless and sinful ways. I didn’t miss a thing.”

While others sow their wild oats, we need to sow spiritual seed. While others pursue sin because its seems fun, we  pursue faith. While others pursued parties, we need to pursue prayer. While others pursued sexual pleasure, we need to pursue sexual purity. While others pursued this world, we need to pursue the next world. While others reap corruption, we will reap life.

Sow to the Spirit, and you will reap life everlasting. We will reap what we have sown as followers of Jesus.

“Whatever your gifts may be, find them. Discover them. Cultivate them. And then use them for God.”

If you have lived a life of Sin, did things you shouldn’t, maybe didn’t even know any better. God has made it possible for you to know Him and experience an amazing change in your life. Click here  to discover His amazing love for you and how you can find peace with God.

January 5th 2019 – One Of A Kind

“I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn. You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you.” (Haggai 2:29)

If you found yourself on trial as a Christian, would they have enough evidence to convict you? This poignant question is good for us to ask because it causes us to assess our walk with the Lord. While this is helpful, be careful not to fall into the trap believing that all Christians look the same.

We all have trusted in Jesus for salvation, but the work He has for us is often different. Look around you. Is there someone hurting or in need of God’s Truth? What are your skills or spiritual gifts? Are you using them for the glory of God? You see, each of us is created to glorify God, but we all do that in different ways. Each of us is at a different level in our Christian walk but we are all walking with the same person, Jesus. So this morning, look at your life and ask God to show you how you can show Him to others in a way that only you can. He’s saved you. He’s equipped you with your unique special gifts. Celebrate that your one of a kind.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating me the way that You have. Each aspect of me is part of Your creative Spirit. I pray that You show me how I can use my gifts for Your glory and for the furthering of the Gospel. Help me to walk outside my door and be ready to engage those around me for Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 4th 2019 – What is the Purpose of a Compass

What is the Purpose of a Compass?

“..the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” (Acts 5:32)

The purpose of a compass is not just to give us knowledge about where we are when we are lost but to also guide us into the way we need to go. If you think about it – a compass is worthless if we do not comply with what our compass shows us.

In the Gospels Jesus introduces the apostles to the Holy Spirit. He tells them the Holy Spirit will guide them into all truth. He calls the Holy Spirit the “Paraclete.” This word means: “One who comes along side us and attaches Himself to us for the purpose of assisting us.”

Jesus tells them that if they will love Him and keep His commandments He will ask the Father to give them the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-16).

So many believers miss this. The operative word when it comes to implementing salvation is “Believe.” But the operative word when it comes to knowing God through the Holy Spirit is “Obey.”

In profound simplicity the hymn writer expressed it this way: “But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay. For the favor He shows and the joy He gives are for them who will trust and obey. Trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.”

Jesus said it even more simply and profoundly when He offered this invitation: “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19) That’s why the last point on this compass is the most critical of all.

Are you willing to comply with what your compass shows you?

“Make the time to listen to His good direction through the Holy Spirit

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Open my eyes so that I can ask the tough questions in my life. Give me understanding on how to live out the Truth I believe. Shower me with Your grace when I stumble, and fill me with Your Spirit so that I can live for You. Today, I make a decision to listen to the voice of Your Holy Spirit within me. I know that You want me to hear Your voice, Help me make the time to be still and quiet so that I can hear You. so starting Today, I open my heart to have a heart to heart with You Lord. In Jesus’ name Amen.

January 3rd 2019 – You Are A Miracle, Share Your Testimony

“When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan. For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)

Above are the humble words of the Apostle Paul in a letter to the Corinthians. He states that he relied only on the Holy Spirit to reach the people. No lofty words and impressive wisdom.

Do you think that more people would have accepted Jesus, if during Pauls message he could have dazzled the croud with a modern worship experience? Lasers and Lights, beautiful worship songs. What if Paul had through the Holy Spirit preformed a miracles?

Have you ever wondered that if you could do a miracle for your non-Christian friends, they would become believers? Maybe you’ve thought to youself, “If I could just do a miracle, I know they would believe on the spot.”

I don’t think so. I am sure it would be amazing. It probably would move them deeply. But a million signs and wonders would not make the world turn to Christ. When a person believes in Jesus, it is an act of the heart; an act of the will that has to take place.

A miracle is not going to convince someone. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and afterward, they plotted to kill Jesus and Lazarus. (John 12) says that when all the people heard of Jesus’ arrival, they flocked to see Him and also Lazarus, the man whom Jesus raised from the dead. And then the leading priests decided to kill Lazarus too. Poor Lazarus. Wasn’t bad enough that he had to die once, and then the religious leaders wanted to kill him again. Why? Because Lazarus was a living, breathing miracle. His presence alone was a testimony to the power of God.

And guess what? You are a living, breathing miracle.  If you can talk about how God has changed your life and how He has transformed you. You are a powerful representative of Jesus Christ. So be one.

Our message to a lost world is that we are all sinners. We are separated from God. But God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross for our sins and to pay the price for us on the cross and to rise again from the dead. That is the gospel. Just proclaim it, and watch what God will do!

“The revelation of God’s Truth can be that hope which sets you free.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your generous love for me. I am so grateful that I can run to You in times of need and You will hear my cry. Father, I ask for Your strength and wisdom today. I am so thankful for the many promises found in Your Word. Help me take each one to heart and to allow Your Truths to change me. Protect me from the fears and doubts that can cloud my thinking, and give me boldness to stand on Your Word and to share it with others. No matter where I find myself I ask that You would guide my steps and use me for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

January 2nd 2019 – Gods Enrichment Plan

“Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)

How is it that we can find enrichment when we give of ourselves? After all, shouldn’t the accumulation of wealth and stuff bring about enrichment in our lives? This may be how the world views growth and enrichment, but in God’s economy, growth comes through giving.

The sad reality is that the more we receive, the more we are likely to be selfish and greedy. When we act according to God’s design, our giving leads us into enriched, generous lives. In essence, our giving helps check those feelings of selfishness and greed. Most people use their blessings to be blessed, the question is, “Are you using your gifts, talents, resources and finances to bless other people?” If not, you are failing the test of being blessed in the first place. If you have failed that test, don’t worry. Instead, begin walking in thankfulness, and God will bring you to a place where you will pass with flying colors. Many times, a generous life begins first with thanksgiving, then obedience, sharing, and generosity. When we begin living generously with our time, energy and finances, God will bless us with more because we have been faithful with little.

“Receiving from God is both a blessing and a test.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for salvation and the countless other blessings I experience on a daily basis. Help me to live a life of generosity and love so that more people may hear Your Word and find new life in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 1st 2019 – A Fresh New Start

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)

How timely it is to stop and consider this verse today. As we are starting a brand new year, in like manner we have a fresh new start in our life for the Lord. What does the year hold for you? Well I can assure you that the Lord has some awesome things prepared for each of us individually and as well in the church body. This past year the Lord did some incredible things and I look forward to a new year filled with family and friends coming to know the Lord. We will see multitudes moved forward in the spiritual journey from discovery to discipleship. If you have not read the bible in its entirety, I challenage you to this year. We don’t know what problems we are going to encounter. We don’t know what changes are going to come. We don’t know what blessings the Lord has in store for us. But whatever the new year holds, we don’t have to be afraid because Jesus Christ is going to be waiting there for us.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for fresh starts and new beginnings. What an incredible day this is with a brand new year’s potential stretched out before me. I want to be found faithful this year in each and every opportunity You bring to me. I also ask that my new years resolutions are not empty promises to myself that I don’t accomplish. . I will be praying on a daily basis for you to hold me accountable, ONE DAY AT A TIME. You are the best coach ever. I love you so much. Thank You, Lord, for new beginnings. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Ask Jesus into your heart this fresh new year.

My prayer is that we would not let our hearts stay hardened and that we would never forget that we are not our own gardener. There is a Gardener, there is a Vine, and we are the branches that get to see the fruit burst forth from us. Jesus loves each of us and has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him forever. Please considder today asking Him into you life. Time is ticking away, and in a blink of an eye it will be too late.

December 31st 2018 – If God Gave You A Watch

“What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.” (Romans 3:1-2)

A.W. Tozer once said, “If God gave you a watch, would you honor Him more by asking Him what time it is or by simply consulting the watch.” God has provided us with the instruction book He authored and it is our responsibility to read it and heed it. Never forget that there are places in this world where simply possessing a Bible brings a death sentence. Many Christians have been martyred and continue to be in astounding numbers across the globe for the very thing which many of us take for granted.

God has blessed you with a Bible and with the freedom to read it. What shall you do with it? Is it simply a ‘coffee table’ book, a drink coaster or a paperweight? Does it sit unused on a bookshelf? The Bible, which God has given you, will keep you and your family from an abundance of pain and trouble. It can save your marriage, your children and even your life, but only if you read, study and apply it. It is the very Word of God.

(John 8:31-32) “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

I want to encourage you to study your Bible. Make certain that you and your family faithfully attend a Bible teaching church. Get into the habit of praying and reading your Bible daily. Lead your family in prayer and devotions. Be diligent to do these things, and you will be amazed by the changes, miracles and blessings that are poured out on you and your family.

“There is a blessing and a responsibility in having a Bible.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me Your Bible. Please forgive me if I have been slack in reading and studying it. I ask You to give me a hunger for Your Word. Open my heart to receive Your counsel and do the things You tell me. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Do trust Jesus enough with your life? You should, Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves us and wants to help us. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus
