April 2nd 2026 – Designed with Purpose

Scripture Reference:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Reflection:

In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, it’s easy to question our purpose and place in life. Yet, Scripture reminds us that we are not here by accident. Each of us is uniquely crafted by God, designed with intention and love. Just as a master artist pours their heart into every brushstroke, our Creator has intricately shaped us for a specific reason.

Consider how a puzzle comes together; every piece has a unique shape, but when placed correctly, it forms a beautiful picture. Similarly, our lives fit into God’s grand design. We may not always see the complete image, but trust that each moment, each challenge, and each joy contributes to His purpose for us.

Reflect on your own journey. Have there been moments where you felt lost or uncertain? These times can seem like detours, but often, they are part of the divine tapestry God is weaving. He uses our struggles to mold our character and deepen our faith. Each trial is a stepping stone toward fulfilling the purpose He has instilled in us.

As we navigate our lives, it’s essential to remain open to God’s guidance. Seek His wisdom through prayer, Scripture, and the counsel of those around you. Remember, God doesn’t just call the equipped; He equips the called. Your unique gifts, experiences, and even your trials are tools He will use to fulfill His plans.

Action Step:

Take a moment to reflect on your gifts and passions. Write them down and pray about how you can use them to serve others and fulfill God’s purpose in your life. Consider sharing your reflections with a friend or mentor to encourage mutual growth. Additionally, look for opportunities this week to step out in faith, whether by volunteering, offering support to someone in need, or simply sharing your story of faith with others.

Remember, you are designed with purpose. Every day is an opportunity to live out that purpose and glorify God in all you do. Embrace the journey, and trust that you are a vital piece of the beautiful puzzle He is creating.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the incredible purpose You have woven into my life. Thank You for crafting me with intention and for believing in my potential, even when I sometimes doubt myself. Help me to recognize the unique gifts and talents You’ve bestowed upon me. May I not hide them away but instead use them to bring glory to Your name.

Lord, guide my steps as I seek to fulfill the calling You’ve placed on my heart. In moments of uncertainty, remind me of Your plans for me—plans that are filled with hope and promise. Help me to trust in Your timing and to lean on Your strength when I feel weak. Fill me with a spirit of courage and boldness to step out in faith, knowing that I am walking in alignment with Your divine purpose.

I pray that I may be a light to others, reflecting Your love and grace in all I do. May my actions inspire those around me to seek their own purpose in You. Thank You for the journey ahead, and may I embrace each day as an opportunity to live out the purpose You have designed for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

March 31st 2026 – Five Prayers to Transform Your Day and Your Life

Reflection:

Begin each day with an open heart, ready to receive God’s presence. These five prayers, grounded in Scripture, invite His peace, guidance, blessings, strength, and gratitude into your life. Pray them with intention and witness the transformation in your journey.

Lord, fill my heart with Your perfect peace.
“God keeps those whose minds are stayed on Him in perfect peace.” (Isaiah 26:3)
Lord, lead every step I take today.
“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him.” (Psalm 37:23)
Lord, surround me with Your blessings today.
“Surely, LORD, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12)
Lord, grant me strength in every situation.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Lord, help me remain grateful in every circumstance.

Reflection:

Disappointment is a universal experience, and even the most faithful among us encounter moments when life doesn’t go as planned. Whether it’s a job opportunity that didn’t materialize, a relationship that fell apart, or dreams that remain unfulfilled, these moments can feel overwhelming. However, as Christians, we are reminded that God is present in our disappointments.

Acknowledge Your Feelings: It’s okay to feel hurt or let down. God invites us to bring our honest emotions before Him. Jesus Himself experienced deep sorrow and disappointment, showing us that it’s a natural part of life.
Seek God’s Presence: In times of disappointment, turn to prayer and scripture. Psalm 34:18 reassures us that God is near when we are struggling. Spend time in His presence, allowing His peace to wash over you.
Reflect on God’s Faithfulness: Remember past disappointments that led to unexpected blessings. Often, what feels like a setback can be a setup for something greater. Trust that God has a plan, even when it’s not immediately clear.

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.” (Joel 2:25-26)

Reflection:

Restoration is a profound theme throughout Scripture, revealing God’s heart for His people. In the book of Joel, we see a promise of restoration after a time of devastation. The imagery of locusts symbolizes loss and destruction, reminding us that life can strip us of our joy, hope, and purpose. Yet, God promises not just to restore what was lost but to multiply our blessings beyond what we can imagine.

Consider the areas of your life where you feel broken or in need of healing. Perhaps it’s a relationship strained by misunderstanding, dreams that seem to have faded, or perhaps even a sense of self-worth that has been eroded by life’s challenges. God sees your struggles and invites you to bring them to Him. Just as He restored the years lost to the locusts, He can breathe new life into your circumstances.

Restoration is often a process, not a single event. It requires patience and trust. Just as a field needs time to recover from a drought, our hearts also need time to heal. During this season of waiting, lean into God’s presence. He is not idle; He is actively working in your life, even when you can’t see it. The promise that He will “keep you strong to the end” emphasizes His role as our protector and source of strength. In a world filled with challenges, doubts, and temptations, we can take comfort in knowing that we are not alone.

The phrase “free from all blame” reminds us of the grace that covers us. Through Jesus, our past mistakes and sins are forgiven. On the day of His return, we can stand before Him with confidence, knowing that His sacrifice has paid our debt.

Reflection:

The Gospel is more than just a message; it is the transformative power of God in action. Paul’s declaration in Romans serves as a powerful reminder that the Gospel transcends culture, background, and circumstance. It is God’s divine tool for salvation, reaching into the depths of our hearts and lives.

In a world filled with despair and confusion, the Gospel offers a beacon of hope. It is the story of redemption, forgiveness, and love—a narrative that has changed hearts for centuries. Consider the early Church, which faced immense persecution and hardship. The apostles, undeterred by threats or suffering, proclaimed the Gospel boldly. Their unwavering faith in its power allowed them to face adversity with courage and conviction.

This same power is available to us today. The Gospel can change lives and communities. It offers hope to the hopeless, healing to the broken, and freedom to the captives. February 21st 2026 – If Heaven Had Visiting Hours

This is a repost from February 21st 2017 of a poem honoring my mom’s birthday after her passing in July of 2016. I pray you enjoy.

If Heaven Had Visiting Hours

If Heaven had visiting hours, I would clear my schedule today. I would leave my phone behind, along with all the other responsibilities that seem so important at times. I’d tell everyone not to worry, that I would be back soon. “I’m going to see my mom.”

I would pack a bag of things that you liked to eat, never forgetting your favorite sweet rolls. Also, a few things to show you that you’ve missed since you’ve been gone.

I would make my way up to Heaven to see you for the first time since last July. After reaching the gates at the entrance, I’d see you standing there, looking as beautiful as ever, your eyes clear and gleaming again, no more pain or sadness hiding in them. Your smile is bigger than ever before. All signs of illness are gone. Nothing remains but the look of complete happiness.
I’d hug you tight, never wanting to let go. It’s been too long since I’ve heard you say, “I love you.”

We’d sit on a bench much like the one at the park in front of that old car. We were at Trail Dust Town, where I took you last year on your birthday. I’d hold your hand and rest my head on your shoulder, much like we did that day – just you and I. I’d tell you stories and jokes to make you laugh, a sound I’ve missed more than you could ever know.

If Heaven had visiting hours, I’d tell you about it all. I’d tell you about the nights I’ve cried because I miss having you around. I’d tell you about the laughs our family has somehow been able to share. Life without you hasn’t been easy; I’m sure you’ve seen it all. However, there have been ups to go along with the downs.

After catching up on all the things that are happening at home, we could spend the rest of the afternoon doing all the things we used to do when you were still around. I would share with you that I’m still writing the Christian devotions every day, hoping that you have been able to continue to read them in Heaven.

When the day is over and it’s time for me to go, I’d be so sad to leave you. I’d remind you how much I love you and am trying to make you proud. I’d give you one more hug, not wanting to let go. But it would be OK because Heaven would still have visiting hours, and I could just come back again.

Conclusion:

In the midst of our grief, we find solace in the promise of eternal life. Just as the sun rises each day, so does our hope in the resurrection through Christ. Though we may feel the weight of loss, we can take comfort in knowing that our loved ones are at peace, embraced by God’s everlasting love.

As we remember their laughter, their warmth, and the moments we cherished, let us hold tightly to the assurance that we will one day be reunited. Until that glorious day, may we find strength in our faith, leaning on one another and trusting in God’s perfect plan. In our hearts, they remain alive, guiding us with their love and inspiring us to live fully, just as they would have wanted.

“In Christ, the promise of reunion shines brightly; though we may part for a season, our hearts will rejoice together again in the eternal embrace of love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, In times of sorrow, we come before You with heavy hearts, seeking comfort and peace. We thank You for the gift of our loved ones, for the memories that bring both joy and pain. Help us to remember that though they are no longer with us in body, their spirit lives on in our hearts.

Grant us the strength to navigate our grief and the hope to look forward to the day we will be reunited. Surround us with Your love and support, and remind us of Your promise of eternal life. May we find solace in the knowledge that You hold our loved ones close, free from pain and filled with joy.

Guide us as we carry their legacy forward, cherishing each moment we shared. Help us to honor them by living fully and loving deeply, just as they taught us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

February 19th 2026 – Finding Freedom in Christ

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Reflection:

Freedom is a profound and cherished concept in the Christian faith. When Jesus spoke these words in John 8:36, He was declaring the liberating power of His love and grace. This freedom is not merely a release from physical bondage or societal constraints; it is a deep, spiritual liberation that transforms our lives from the inside out.

Understanding Freedom:

To find true freedom in Christ, we must first recognize what we are free from. Sin, guilt, shame, and fear are chains that can bind us. They manifest in our lives as regret, anxiety, and a sense of unworthiness. But Christ, in His mercy and love, has come to break those chains. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our sins, allowing us to step into a new identity as beloved children of God.

Living in Freedom:

Living in this freedom involves daily choices. It requires us to embrace the truth of who we are in Christ. We are not defined by our past mistakes or the labels that the world places on us. Instead, we are defined by His grace. As we meditate on Scripture, pray, and engage in fellowship with other believers, we begin to internalize this truth.

Faith in Action:

Finding freedom also means stepping out in faith. It may mean letting go of old habits, forgiving those who have wronged us, or taking risks to live out our calling. Freedom in Christ invites us to pursue a life of purpose and joy, unencumbered by the fears that once held us back.

Reflection Questions:

What burdens or chains do you need to surrender to Christ today?
How can you actively embrace your identity as a child of God this week?
In what areas of your life is God calling you to step out in faith?

As you reflect on these questions, remember that true freedom is found in a relationship with Jesus. Let His love fill your heart and transform your life, bringing you peace and joy that surpass all understanding.

“True freedom is not the absence of burdens, but the presence of Christ, who transforms our chains into wings, allowing us to soar in His grace.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of freedom through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the love and grace You have shown me. Help me to fully grasp the depth of this freedom and to live each day in the light of Your love.

Lord, I surrender to You the burdens I carry—the guilt from my past, the shame that weighs me down, and the fears that keep me from stepping into the fullness of life You have promised. Replace my doubts with Your truth and help me to see myself as You see me: cherished, forgiven, and free.

Guide me in my daily choices, Lord. May I actively embrace my identity as Your child, standing firm in the freedom You have provided. Open my eyes to the areas where I need to let go and trust You more fully. May I find strength in Your promises and courage in Your presence.

As I seek to walk in this freedom, help me to encourage others to do the same. Let my life reflect the joy and hope that come from being free indeed. Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and help me to share that peace with those around me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

February 15th 2026 – The Life and Teachings of Jesus

Scripture Reference:

“Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet: ‘I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.’” (Matthew 13:34-35)

Reflection:

The life and teachings of Jesus are a profound source of wisdom and guidance for believers. Through His parables and miracles, He revealed deep spiritual truths in relatable ways, inviting us to explore the nature of God and our relationship with Him.

Lessons from the Parables:

The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37): This parable teaches us about compassion and love for our neighbors, transcending societal boundaries. It challenges us to act with kindness regardless of prejudice or expectation.
The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32): Here, we see the boundless grace of the Father, illustrating God’s unconditional love and forgiveness. It reminds us that no matter how far we stray, we can always return home.
The Lost Sheep (Matthew 18:12-14): This story emphasizes God’s care for each individual. Just as a shepherd seeks one lost sheep, God actively pursues us, demonstrating that everyone is valued and cherished.

Lessons from the Miracles:

Feeding the 5000 (John 6:1-14): This miracle shows Jesus’ ability to provide abundantly. It encourages us to trust in His provision, even when circumstances seem impossible.
Healing the Blind Man (John 9:1-12): Through this miracle, Jesus opens not only the man’s physical eyes but also his spiritual eyes. It illustrates how faith can bring enlightenment and transformation.
Raising Lazarus (John 11:1-44): This miracle reveals Jesus’ power over death, reminding us of the hope we have in Him. It reassures us that through Christ, there is always the possibility of new life and restoration.

Application:
As we reflect on the teachings of Jesus, let us ask ourselves how we can embody these lessons in our daily lives. Are we showing compassion like the Good Samaritan? Do we embrace forgiveness as the Prodigal Son’s father did? Are we trusting in God’s provision in challenging times?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, and for the lessons He taught through His parables and miracles. Help us embody the compassion of the Good Samaritan, reaching out to those in need with love and kindness.

Teach us to forgive as the father did in the Prodigal Son, letting go of grudges and celebrating reconciliation. Remind us of our worth as Your cherished children, and help us to trust in Your provision, knowing You meet our needs.

Open our eyes to see the world through Your perspective, and empower us to share the hope and renewal found in Christ. May our lives reflect His teachings, and may we be agents of Your love and grace in all we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

February 13th 2026 – When the Waiting Feels Long

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” (Isaiah 40:31)

Reflection:

Waiting is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines. We don’t mind movement. We don’t mind progress. But waiting? That stretches us.

In our fast-paced world, we often find ourselves in a hurry, wanting results and answers immediately. But what if the waiting is part of God’s perfect plan? Maybe you’re waiting for:

A prodigal to come home
Healing for you or a loved one
A husband or wife for marriage
Financial breakthrough
Direction for your next step

In these moments, waiting can feel silent. It can feel hidden. It can even feel forgotten. Yet, Scripture reveals a profound truth: waiting in God’s kingdom is never wasted time.

Throughout the Bible, God did His deepest work in seasons of delay:

Abraham waited decades for the promise of a son, yet in that waiting, he became the father of many nations.
Joseph endured betrayal and imprisonment before his dreams came to fruition, ultimately saving his family and a nation.
David was anointed king long before he wore the crown, spending years in preparation and growth.

These stories illustrate that waiting prepares what rushing would ruin. God uses these seasons to renew our strength, reshape our motives, deepen our trust, and build our endurance. What feels like delay may actually be divine development.

Consider the eagle. It doesn’t soar because it flaps harder; it soars because it waits for the right wind. In the same way, we must learn to trust God’s timing, knowing that He is orchestrating our circumstances for our ultimate good.

As we wait, let us lean into prayer, seeking His presence rather than the answers we desire. Let us cultivate patience, knowing that every moment spent in waiting is an opportunity for growth.

Take a moment to reflect on what you are currently waiting for. How can you embrace this season of waiting? What lessons might God be teaching you in this time?

“Waiting isn’t a sign of God’s absence, but a sacred season for growth, where our strength is renewed, and our trust deepens in His perfect timing.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise that those who hope in You will renew their strength. In moments of waiting, it’s easy to feel lost or forgotten, but I trust that You are always at work, even when I can’t see it.

Help me to embrace this season with a heart full of patience and faith. Teach me to seek Your presence and guidance, rather than rushing toward my own desires. May I find peace in the silence and strength in the stillness, knowing that You are preparing me for what lies ahead.

As I wait, help me to grow in trust and endurance, and to remember that every delay is part of Your divine plan. Thank You for Your unfailing love and for the hope that sustains me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
