March 26th 2019 – Fractured Clay Jars

“For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.” (2 Corinthians 4:11-12)

Whether they knew it or not, the church of Corinth was blessed because of Paul’s sufferings. The battles endured and hardships faced were all allowed by God so that Paul would be a great witness to the world. During this time in church history, there was a lot of suffering taking place, and as a result of that suffering, the Word of God was spread to more and more people. In fact, this continues today.

I believe we all could list out some areas where we suffered because of Christ. It may not be to the extent that Paul suffered, but trials are a part of the Christian life. That may not sound so great but think of it this way, when you’re going through a trial, someone else is watching you and can be blessed through your response. The Bible says we are like fractured jars of clay, or “cracked jars”. The more suffering and trials hit, the more we seem to crack.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

The more we crack, the more Jesus is seen inside of us. God will use every situation in your life for good so rejoice in the hard times and look for those ways to shine… like a cracked jar with a brilliant light inside.

“You don’t really know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, While it may be hard, I want to thank You for my times of suffering. I know that each of these moments is being used to make me more like Jesus. Give me the strength and wisdom needed to be a witness for You even in times of suffering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 25th 2019 – I Believe God, Do You?

“Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.” (Acts 27:25)

As the storm threatened and the boat pitched back and forth, when it looked as though everyone was going to drown, the apostle Paul encouraged the others on board: “Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me” (Acts 27:25)

Those are not the words of a person in denial or out of touch with reality as some unbelievers might say. The fact is that Paul uttered them when they were still in the worst of the storm, with no tangible hope. They had the hope that had been given to Paul by God, the promise they would be delivered, but there was nothing visible to indicate that it really was going to happen.

This was faith, you see. It is faith when we can say, as everything is unraveling around us, “God is in control. I know He is going to get me through this, and I know that He is faithful.” Paul was confident. He knew that God was the Master of his circumstances and the Captain of his boat. He knew that God was in control.

There was a time when Jesus told the disciples to launch out into the deep for a catch of fish, after they had been fishing for many hours and hadn’t caught a thing. Peter said, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net” (Luke 5:5). Then the Bible tells us they caught so many fish, their nets were breaking.

There is a unique nautical term that is used when addressing the master of a particular boat or ship, it is called “Captain”.

So here is the question: Are you willing to let Him be the Captain of your boat? Are you willing to say, like Paul, “I believe God”?

“Faith is knowing God is in control, even when things are unraveling.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I ask that You increase within me your obedient spirit so that I may be obedient to Your instruction. Help me Lord to walk by faith and not by sight. I don’t always understand what You’re doing in my life, but I make a decision to trust You God, In these storms, I ask that You place within me your spirit of hope, peace and rest. Help me to endure all that comes my way. Right now, I make a decision to trust You Lord because I know that You’re in control of my life even when my life seems to be out of control. Lord, I thank You for clarity, guidance, provision and strength. I pray and ask for these things in Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 22nd 2019 – From Tears to Diamonds

“I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears.”(Psalms 6:6)

How deep does our emotional pain hit us? How do we respond to it? It could come from the death of a precious loved one, the hardship of having someone betray you, or the sin you keep falling into that you hate. Perhaps you’ve had sorrow as King David did when he had a child turn against him. Many of us, no matter how tough we are, have experienced pain that brought us to tears. How does God look at you and me during our struggles and when we’re weeping before Him?

“You keep track of all my sorrows.You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book” (Psalms 56:8)

Our loving heavenly Father takes distinct note of when we cry. When we cry, we do not keep our tears, but they are captured by the Lord. Have you ever been bothered by seeing your child struggle, getting hurt, and crying? It is even more so with our Father in heaven who sent His Son to intercede with His tears on behalf of our struggles and sins. Jesus sowed tears of sorrow for our sin so that He could give us joy by defeating our sin (Psalm 126:3). Take heart today by knowing God has taken note of our hurts, our struggle, our prayer, our tears, and most importantly our sins, and we will ultimately be eternally freed if we have entrusted our life to Him.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever” (Revelation 21:4)

“Jesus turns our tears into diamonds”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for capturing my heart, my sorrows, and my tears. Thank you for paying the ultimate price for my sin so that I can be eternally delivered from the sorrow of my sin in such a sin stained world. I have great hope because of You Lord. Thank you for caring for me and remembering me even when I weep. Please keep reminding me that my tears are but for a moment, and you will wipe every tear I ever had away from my face. Please give me Your power to see and walk in Your joy since I know this day is coming. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

March 17th 2019 – Dear God, Help

Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”When they climbed back into the boat, the wind stopped.” (Matthew 14:31-32)

Sometimes we are embarrassed to admit to God that we need help. We feel as though we should be able to work things out on our own. But what we should to be doing is crying out to Jesus. We should never be embarrassed or feel ashamed in asking for God’s help.

When Peter got out of the boat and walked toward Jesus, he walked on the water until he took his eyes off Jesus, he questioned in his heart if that was possible and began to sink. It hardly came as a surprise to to Jesus, he knew where Peters Faith was. But He also knew what Peter would become. He didn’t merely see him for what he was; He saw him for what he would be. And that is how God sees us as well.

Jesus knew that Peter would fail, not only in this situation, but later when Peter would deny Him. In fact, Jesus brought it to Peter’s attention on one occasion (see Luke 22:31–32). So Peter’s failure came as no shock to Jesus.

And just as Peter was sinking, the Bible tells us that “immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’ And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased” (Matthew 14:31–32).

The Bible doesn’t say that Jesus carried Peter back. They got into the boat, which means that Peter stood up and walked with Jesus on the water once more, back to the boat. And where did Jesus take Peter and the disciples? Back to land.

We will have our miraculous moments in life, our mountaintop experiences. But mountaintops prepare us for the valleys of life, and calm waters prepare us for the storms.

Maybe you are sinking right now. Maybe you are gripped by fear, worry, and defeat. Follow the example of Peter: cry out to Jesus. He will not rebuke a person who is trying to come to Him by faith.

“When doubt, fear, or worry come your way, cry out to Jesus, He hears our cries for help!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, It gets so hard trying to face the storms of life on our own especially when we feel weak. I need Your power and strength to face each one. Please continue to help and teach me to turn to You first. Help me learn to patiently endure the suffering and the hard times and honor You in the midst of them as I walk by faith. I lift up all of my troubles and faithfully trust in You Lord that you will guide us through the storms and calm the raging seas of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 15th 2019 – True Healing Comes by the Way of the Cross

“Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them. And there He tested them, and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:23-26)

In the Old Testament, Jesus had not come as a human yet, but His Holy Word had already come. We know from the Word of God that on the cross, Jesus not only took our sins, but He also took our sicknesses and diseases.

(1 Peter 2:24) talks about this tree. Look at it, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed”.

When God showed Moses a tree, he cast it into the water and the water was made sweet. This is a type of our Jesus, He hung on the tree for you and for me. And when we cast ourselves on Him, we are made whole. I believe this is total wholeness, spirit, soul and body.

So today, look at the tree, and let your sins be cast on it, let your sicknesses be thrown on Him. It is through the blood that Jesus spilled on the tree, the “cross”, that we are made well not only spirituality but physically! What a great God we serve.

“True Healing comes by the way of the Cross, whether it is Healing for yourself, others or this Country. ask for Jesus in and allow Him to start to heal.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, At The cross You blood spilled Your blood for me. The work of Calvary was a complete work, a work that was completely done in me. Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the that tree (cross) and bearing all of my shortcomings so that I can be whole, so I can be healed, so I can be set free because of what you sacrificed on the tree… I love You and trust You Lord. I will not take my eyes off you… in Your precious name Amen.

March 14th 2019 – The Daily Grind Part 3 of 3

God’s Amazing Love

“And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.(Colossians 3:14)

Paul wrote Romans to give us direction, that we are to use love in our interactions with each other. “Agape” an unconditional “God” love.

Now imagine being locked in a room with twenty people. Unable to get out until all are of one mind together. Each person has their own idea of how to solve the situation. God asks us to be of one mind.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus. (Romans 15:5)

If you have twenty people who think they have the solution, that door will never open. This is very much how the world is today. Everyone has an opinion and thinks their opinion is right. When we take out us and place God in the equation things can change in a huge way. I call this the “G Factor” the God factor. Paul gave us a formula sent form God to become one with all in Him then laced it all with Love. One key factor is to be humble, something rare in the world today. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6)
In order to be of one mind we have to be humble and have a servant heart. This is love in action.

“But I am giving you a new command. You must love each other, just as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)

If the world could put this into action, what a wonderful world this would be. In order to know this kind of love you need to know the Loving God. Asking Jesus in your life and He gives you many gifts all free and paid for by Jesus. The agape love is from God. Agape love is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love, the kind of love Jesus has for His Father and for His followers.

That is the key to how we serve one another. This love takes out the our judgement of others. It allows us to want to serve others, forgive, encourage, learn and enjoy the fruits of the Spirit in your life.

The Fruit of the Spirit is a term that the apostle Paul uses to sum up nine visible attributes of a true Christian life. They are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22).

My hope is that you have the Love of God. If not you might consider this wonderful gift, paid in full by the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. He offers this gift to you just for asking Him into your life. It’s the ultimate gift, forgiveness and eternal life in heaven.

“The shape of God’s true love (Agape Love) isn’t a heart. It’s a cross”

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Please forgive me for all the times I have forgotten Your love. Give me the power to overcome sin and to seek You with all my heart. Teach me through Your Word and guide me by Your Spirit to be able to love others as You love me. Thank You for the precious gift of salvation. Thank You for making a way for me to be cleansed of all my sins. Lord, if I have sinned against You today, forgive me and help me live for You in all I do. Father, I stand on Your Truth in 1 John 1:9 that says if I confess my sins, You will cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Wash me clean and use me for Your kingdom today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father God, I am truly sorry. I repent and ask You to forgive me. I want to follow you and ask you (into) or (back into) my life. I acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me all my sins are forgiven in His name. I repent and cancel all access to my life by evil spirits. I claim the blood of Jesus over me as my protection. I command all evil spirits that have entered my body or mind, to leave me now in Jesus’ name. I now make a new commitment to guard my eyes and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ. I will walk by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I will work to take control of my body and anew my mind, I will depend on the Holy Spirit to help me accomplish this, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God’s Got This.

Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19)

Everyone experiences times in their life when they are wronged by someone. I certainly have had this happen to me many times. On the flipside, I have also been the one hurt others in my life. There have been times initially after being hurt, I have thought about how to get revenge. I actually used to find comfort in it. I would get this self-absorbed logic that I am entitled to a pay back. I would think of all the things I could say or do to that person. Some ideas that I would come up with, I would actually think were genius. Even though most of the time I never would go through with the plan. I still would find pleasure in planning the revenge.

God has another plan, and I have learned that over time, God willl take care of it. Knowing that any revenge is God’s, gives me peace. Giving up my hurt to God is freeing. The hardest part of this verse is completely taking youself out of the equation. We must remember that we are called by God to love our enemies. This is not always easy. Jesus said, “But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!” (Matthew 5:44)

Hate perpetuates hate.
Mind boggling, He asks us to forgive.

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (Matthew 6:14-15)

Forgiveness is about how God forgives us, but also about how we forgive each other. This can be hard when we’ve been wronged. It all comes down to Love.

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” (Romans 12:9)

Do you hurt from someone’s wrong doings? Do you want healing? If you forgive, you free yourself. The weights are lifted. Seek God if you have never experienced Him. He is the all loving, forgiving God who can lift your weight and set you free.

“Don’t take it on yourself to repay a wrong. Trust the Lord and He will make it right!”

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Thank You for forgiving me of my sins. I come to you today with my injured heart. Please remind me how you always forgive me and continue to love me even when I fail you and sin against you. Please give me compassion and love for the person I am am seeking revenge and struggling to forgive. Please continue to lead me in you teachings so that I can reflect You more clearly in my everyday life. I love You and thank You for you unconditional love. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

Sometimes I start projects with great enthusiasm, only to lose interest and move on to something else. I’m thankful God never does that with us. He always completes what He starts. In (Hebrews 12:2) we are told we should be “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” God finishes what He begins.

But sometimes the Devil whispers into a believer’s ear, “Your Not Good Enough” or “God won’t help you” or something like this “You’re not even going to make it as a Christian. You’re going to crash and burn.” Thats all a big lie. The Bible says that Jesus accepts everyone that repents, asks for forgiveness and will trust in Him with faith” also “That with the Holy Spirit will help you to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. We are told in (Philippians 1:6), “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Storms will come into every life, into the lives of both believers and nonbelievers. The rain will fall and the winds will blow. But it is only the child of God who can lay hold of (Romans 8:28), which says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Nonbelievers can quote that verse if they’d like, but it has no relevance to them whatsoever. Only Christians can lay hold of that promise.

Storms come and storms go. For some, life itself is one long storm. They may be facing very difficult circumstances. It could be a disability. It could be some tragedy that has befallen them and has altered their very existence.

There is hope, because no matter what you are going through right now, storms don’t last forever. God is in control. You will get to the other side.

“No matter what you are going through God will help you through it.”

February 28th 2019 – Dear Problem, My God Is Bigger

“As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:36-37 )

I have had the opportunity to speak with and pray for those who are in the midst of monumental life challenges. It might be unemployment, eviction, addiction, separation, divorce or even facing death. Whatever it is, for those going through it, it seems the problem are as large as Mount Everest. One thing I’ve noticed is that those who dare to take on mountains often triumph while those who survey the towering heights and presume defeat…

The Colossal cliffs in life that we face teach the deepest lessons – the kind you never forget.

“And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.” (Genesis 22:8)

From the stable to the sacrifice, Jesus knew His mountain. Awaiting Him at the top were false accusation, humiliation, torture, pain, suffering and death on a cross. For us, our Savior clenched His jaw and pressed forward. Jesus made the greatest climb to Calvary.

Willingly, Jesus took that climb step by step. He knew what was waiting, and He went. It was His joy to do so. He did it to purchase you and change your destiny. Because Jesus made His ascent, we can climb our mountains with victory in hand. The next time you see a mountain looming in the distance, remember, you’re a conqueror. With Jesus, you will take that hill.

“Dear Problem, My God Is Bigger! – Don’t try to climb your mountain without Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and praise you Lord in all circumstances. Thank You for loving me first. It is through You that I do not have to fear the difficulties of this world and that I have everything I need for the challenges of life. Please forgive me for times when I’ve stalled in the face of trials instead of relying on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 26th 2019 – Help Is Only a Call Away

“and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15)

When we go through major disappointments in life, our natural reaction is to pull back and isolate ourselves. We want to handle it ourselves. We want to keep our losses, our failures, our mistakes or crises a secret. We want to withdraw. It’s is a terrible idea to walk it alone.

When you go through disappointment, crisis or loss. Those are the times when you need to call on God and your friends the most. You need to accept help from others. God doesn’t intend for you to handle all the pain and stress in your life by yourself. We were wired for each other. We need each other. We’re social beings. The first thing God said in the Garden of Eden is, “It’s not good for man (speaking about His creation of humankind) to be alone.” We’re made to be in relationships.

“When desperate people give up on God Almighty, their friends, at least, should stick with them” (Job 6:14)

There will be times in your life when you are in so much pain you will say, “I don’t even believe in God right now!” You need to have friends who will come alongside you and say, “That’s OK. We’ll believe God for you right now.”

There will come a time when you’ll say, “I don’t have any faith right now. I’m full of doubt.” That’s when you need your friends to step in and say, “That’s OK. We will have faith for you. We will trust God for you in this.”

“By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). What is the law of Christ? It’s this: Love your neighbor as yourself. The Bible commands us to help each other. Every time you help somebody who’s going through pain, you are fulfilling the law of Christ.

Trying to handle your trouble yourself will only make you more tired and stressed out.

So don’t run away and hide or ingnore your friends and the ones that love you. You need to accept the help of others and let your friends carry you through it.

Our Lord Jesus is only a call away, And He already knows the trouble your having. He is already calling out to you. Answer His call,

“Give Jesus a try….if you don’t like Him, the enemy will always take you back!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Help me trust You in all circumstances in my life. Increase my faith. Help me remember that I am your child and that you love me. Thank You for the people in my life that care about me and are there when I need a friend. I also know that all things are possible in my life, If I would trust in You without doubt, and trust in Your Word. You said it is true, so I trust, and I believe, and as I do, I will see the results! Thank you for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen…
