February 26th 2019 – Help Is Only a Call Away

“and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15)

When we go through major disappointments in life, our natural reaction is to pull back and isolate ourselves. We want to handle it ourselves. We want to keep our losses, our failures, our mistakes or crises a secret. We want to withdraw. It’s is a terrible idea to walk it alone.

When you go through disappointment, crisis or loss. Those are the times when you need to call on God and your friends the most. You need to accept help from others. God doesn’t intend for you to handle all the pain and stress in your life by yourself. We were wired for each other. We need each other. We’re social beings. The first thing God said in the Garden of Eden is, “It’s not good for man (speaking about His creation of humankind) to be alone.” We’re made to be in relationships.

“When desperate people give up on God Almighty, their friends, at least, should stick with them” (Job 6:14)

There will be times in your life when you are in so much pain you will say, “I don’t even believe in God right now!” You need to have friends who will come alongside you and say, “That’s OK. We’ll believe God for you right now.”

There will come a time when you’ll say, “I don’t have any faith right now. I’m full of doubt.” That’s when you need your friends to step in and say, “That’s OK. We will have faith for you. We will trust God for you in this.”

“By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). What is the law of Christ? It’s this: Love your neighbor as yourself. The Bible commands us to help each other. Every time you help somebody who’s going through pain, you are fulfilling the law of Christ.

Trying to handle your trouble yourself will only make you more tired and stressed out.

So don’t run away and hide or ingnore your friends and the ones that love you. You need to accept the help of others and let your friends carry you through it.

Our Lord Jesus is only a call away, And He already knows the trouble your having. He is already calling out to you. Answer His call,

“Give Jesus a try….if you don’t like Him, the enemy will always take you back!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Help me trust You in all circumstances in my life. Increase my faith. Help me remember that I am your child and that you love me. Thank You for the people in my life that care about me and are there when I need a friend. I also know that all things are possible in my life, If I would trust in You without doubt, and trust in Your Word. You said it is true, so I trust, and I believe, and as I do, I will see the results! Thank you for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen…

February 24th 2019 – All Things Are Possible

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

When Jesus said all things, did He mean ALL THINGS? Well, one thing that we have learned from the Word of God is that our Heavenly Father is not a man that He should lie. If God said it, it is so. So, with that in mind, we can have confidence in God and His Word.

We must take the Word of God as the Word of God, and know that all things are possible from His Word. When we look into the Word and find a scripture that promises us something, like healing, then we need to spend the time that it takes to get that Word, or seed, deep into our heart. We need to give the Word of God the time that it needs to germinate within us.

Just because we read a verse on healing does not mean it is going to grow in one day.

Remember this verse says, “All things are possible to him who believes.” I need to get His Word into me and into that believing part. I will say this, I believe that I am saved and no one can take that from me, yet when it comes to healing, when something is fighting my flesh, I let doubt in.

This is the good fight of faith. This is where the rubber meets the road. So what do I do to get it to the producing stage? I meditate on the verses or promises until it becomes real to me, just like salvation is real to me. When it gets to that place, then I can boldly say, “ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO ME BECAUSE I BELIEVE. AMEN!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You in all circumstances in my life because I know that I am your child and that you love me. I also know that all things are possible in my life because I believe in You without doubt, and Your Word. You said it is true, so I trust, and I believe, and as I do, I see results! Thank you for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen…

February 23rd 2019 – The Struggle Is Real

“I cannot eat for sighing; my groans pour out like water. What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.” (Job 3:24-25)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Job was in a hard situation. In fact, you could say it is one of the most intense situations in Scripture. He has lost all that he loves and now sits before the Lord in great grief, even to the point of wishing he had never been born. Surely, things could not get worse. Yet, later, in this chapter, his friends come to “help” by pointing out that he must have sinned greatly to be punished by God in this way. These accusations show a flaw in our thinking as humans. In a world that is increasingly more interested in karma than in biblical truth, it is easy to see someone suffer and assume they are getting what they deserve. The problem is that Jesus himself points away from this train of thought to a deeper concern.

In Luke 13, Jesus is asked about people who died in tragic ways. The assumption was that they were “The worst sinners in Jerusalem” until Jesus said “No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish too.” Jesus points us away from the judgment of others sin and instead tells us to assess our own relationship with the Lord. So next time you see suffering in someone else, do not assume punishment for sin. Instead, assess your own walk, and do what you can to encourage them in the Truth of Christ.

“If someone is suffering, it doesn’t mean they have done anything wrong!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Help me to hear Your voice over all the continuous problems that continue to come my way. Lord, it seems that others in this world try to insult or slander my character, often because of my relationship with You. Help me during those weak moments to know what You would say to me. Help me to hear and respond to Your voice and know that I am loved. Help me to fellowship with and love others around me. Forgive me for those times I have judged someone’s suffering. Help me to live a Proverbs 3 life of not leaning on my own understanding. Teach me your ways and use me to minister to the broken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 22nd 2019 – Who Is The Holy Spirit

“However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].” (John 16:7)

We talk about Jesus, we talk about the Father, but we seem to forget the one that Jesus said to wait for, the one that would fill us with the power of God. We seem to forget to acknowledge Him as part of the Godhead, yet He is as much God as God the Father and our Lord Jesus. So let’s take a little time and get to know Him.

Jesus, in this verse, tells us that it is expedient that He goes away so that the Holy Spirit would come. I don’t know about you but I would say, “No way, I need and want Jesus!”. I would like to have been physically there with Jesus, like Peter, James and John was. Yet Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit is like Himself and can be at all places at all times.

You see when Jesus walked on this earth He lived in an earthly body like yours and mine, so if He was in Jerusalem, then He wasn’t in Rome. Yet when we look at the Holy Spirit, He is Omnipresent, He exists everywhere. There is no place in heaven, on earth, or in the universe that He is not there. He is Omnipotent, He is all powerful, and He is Omniscient, He knows everything that there is to know.

So today, living inside each and every person that has received Jesus as their own personal Lord and Savior is Almighty God, the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us that He is coming to be our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby. This is such amazing truth that we should take a few minutes right now and thank Him for living in us and helping us each and every day. The scripture also has promised us that He would never leave us or forsake us. What a wonderful gift from God.

“When we pray for the Spirit’s help … we will simply fall down at the Lord’s feet in our weakness. There we will find the victory and power that comes from His love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank and praise You for the precious gift that i have inside of me, I have the all powerful, all knowing and always present Holy Spirit to help me in my life journey. God You are so good to me. I ask that you would continue to fill me daily with so much love and faith the it spills over. I pray that when others speak to me that they will notice Your Holy Spirit present in my life… please continue to use me to share your gosple.

I Praise You for each and everyone of the people that have had the faith to choose you Lord. I will never forget the day I chose to follow You and experienced the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit into me. I truly did not understand, Iwas blinded and in bondage until you set me free. I love you… in Your precious name. Amen.

February 21st 2019 – If Heaven Had Visiting Hours

“Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. (John 16:22)

If Heaven had visiting hours, Today I would clear my schedule. I would leave my phone behind, along with all the other responsibilities that seem so important at times. I’d tell everyone not to worry, that I would be back soon. “I’m going to see you, my Mom.”

I would pack a bag of things that you liked to eat, not forgetting your favorite sweet rolls. Also some things to show you, stuff you’ve missed since you’ve been gone.

I would make my way up to Heaven to see you for the first time since July of 2016. After reaching the entrance gates, I’d see you standing there, looking as beautiful as ever, Your eyes clear and gleaming again, no more pain or sadness hiding in them. Your smile is bigger than ever before. All signs of illness are gone. Nothing remains but the look of complete happiness.
I’d hug you tight, never wanting to let go. It’s been too long since I’ve heard you say “I love you”

We’d sit on a bench much like the one at the park in front that old car. We were at Trail Dust town where I took you the last birthday I spent with you. I’d hold your hand and rest my head on your shoulder, much like we did that day – just you and I. I’d tell you stories and Jokes to make you laugh, a sound I’ve missed more than you could ever know.

If Heaven had visiting hours, I’d tell you about it all. I’d tell you about the nights I’ve cried because I miss having you around. I’d tell you about the laughs we have somehow been able to share. Life without you hasn’t been easy, I’m sure you’ve seen it all. However, there have been ups to go along with the downs.

After catching up on all the things that’s happening at home, we could spend the rest of the afternoon doing all the things we used to do when you were still around. I would share with you that I’m still writing the Christian devotions everyday, hoping that you have been able to continue to read them in Heaven.

When the day is over and it’s time for me to go, I’d be so sad to leave you. I’d remind you how much I love you and am trying to make you proud. I’d give you one more hug, not wanting to let go. But it would be OK, because Heaven would still have visiting hours, and I could just come back again.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please protect us from the vicious attacks of the enemy. Give us strength and protection when we are caught in the sadness of missing the ones we love. Please heal the hearts of the ones that have lost their parents, spouses, children or any loved ones in general.
Thank You the gift of ever lasting life with You in Heaven. All we have to do is ask You into our hearts and live for you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

February 20th 2019 – Life’s Struggles

“He had attached himself to the governor, Sergius Paulus, a man of considerable insight and understanding. The governor invited Barnabas and Saul to visit him, for he wanted to hear the word of God. But Elymas, the sorcerer (as his name means in Greek), interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Saul and Barnabas said. He was trying to turn the governor away from the Christian faith.” (Acts 13:7-8)

In this story, we see the governor torn between Saul and Barnabas, who meant him well, and Elymas who tried to keep the governor from hearing about God. I believe we can relate to this in the many struggles in our own lives. We want to hear the Word of God, like during a teaching, but sometimes we allow ourselves to be talked out of it.

Some of the things that can make a huge difference in our spiritual growth is reading the bible, going to bible studies and reading devotions. It encourages us, challenges us, and the bible studies allows worship and fellowship with one another. It is obvious why the enemy of our souls would not want us in that kind of environment. He will try to use our friends, family and loved ones to keep us from church, serving, giving, praying and reading the Bible. Above all the noise; however, the voice of Jesus rings true. Come to Him and He will give you rest. The world says ‘get’, Jesus says ‘give’. The world says focus on ‘you’. Jesus says focus on ‘others’ and upon Him. Be careful what voice you listen to. It is very important.

“If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Help me to hear Your voice over all the outside noise in my life. Lord, it seems that others in this wotld try to pull me down or keep me in sin. Help me during those weak moments to know what You would say to me. Help me to hear and respond to Your voice and know that I am forgiven. Help me to fellowship with and love others around me. Thank You for continuing to call me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 19th 2019 – Don’t Loose Your Focus

“Ephraim has encircled Me with lies, And the house of Israel with deceit; But Judah still walks with God, Even with the Holy One who is faithful. (Hosea 11:12)

After King Solomon, the Kingdom of Israel split in two. Both the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah faced their share of issues, but Judah was able to stay on track longer. Why is this? One of the key reasons was the proximity of the temple which was the dwelling place of God. Since the Temple was located in Judah, they were able to continue fellowship with the Lord through the sacrifices and daily duties of the priests. This helped Judah remain more focused on the Lord.

Do you realize the same is true for us? In order for us to persevere in difficult times and to grow in our faith, God has given us the church. The church is not a building, but a body of believers that has been ordained by God to encourage us, challenge us and change our lives for good. Can it be messy in a church? Sure it can. Can we struggle with loving our Christian brothers and sisters? Of course, but what better place to learn to love than with those we know love Jesus. Our surroundings will influence our lives. When we surround ourselves with the teachings of God, the love of Christians and the opportunities to serve, give and witness, we will grow stronger. On the contrary, if we refuse to commit to a church, we will miss out on God’s growth tool for our lives. It may not be easy, but it is worth it.

“When we surround ourselves with the places and people of God, we will live more victorious lives.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the church. Thank You for brothers and sisters who love You and love me. Help me to commit to a fellowship with my whole heart so that I can experience spiritual growth and victory this year. Help us to walk in love and grace with one another so that the world will see our love and desire to know more about You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 18th 2019 – Be The Example

And I said: “Hear now, O heads of Jacob, And you rulers of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?” (Micah 3:1)

Today’s society is fast paced and full of busyness. But what are we busy doing? Is it trying to live life with a mission to better ourselves? Any of us who have tried to live this kind of life know that we are never satisfied even when we achieve our goals. If we have a relationship with Jesus, is it not for us to know justice? If we claim to be a follower of Jesus, we have a responsibility to live a Godly life everywhere we go. God has showed us that life is not about us, it’s about knowing Him, loving Him and loving others. If anyone should know that, it is the body of Christ – those who have been forgiven of their sins. Now that God has blessed us with His forgiveness, He desires that we share His love with others. The world needs us to be an example of living the Bible so that they too are drawn to Christ. They need answers, and for us to say we are “Christians” and live our life in pursuit of personal gain would only be a contradiction to who we say we follow.

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith… Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified.” (2 Corinthians 13:5-6)

So let’s stand before God often and ask Him to reveal things in our life that are not pleasing to Him. As we do that, the world will not have any stones to throw. They will be drawn to Jesus and living their life for Him just like we should.

“The world is looking for answers, not for hypocrites.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins. Help me to live a disciple’s life wherever I go. Please remove those things that are not pleasing to You so others are not confused. Thank You Lord, for using me to change lives for eternity just like you changed mine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 17th 2019 – A God of Love

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

What a contrast the love of God is to the so-called “love” of our culture.

Our world loves you when you are young and beautiful; God still loves you when you are old and not so attractive.

Our world loves you when you are famous and a celebrity; God loves still you when you are unknown and a complete nobody.

Our world loves you when you are rich and powerful; God still loves you when you are penniless and weak.

Our world loves the extraordinary. God still loves the ordinary. People like you and me.

And God has demonstrated this love for us in a tangible way. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13)

“Love will find a way. A lack of love will find an excuse. It has no limits”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Because of Your love for me, I have forgiveness of sins and hope of heaven. Father, fill me with Your Spirit and help me to love others like You love me. Make me more like Jesus so that I can share Your grace and mercy with those around me. Use me today to show love. I praise You for the amazing love, Help me to grasp this love so that I will be equipped to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

February 16th 2019 – God Uses Imperfect People

But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:60-62)

If anyone had a reason to doubt God’s love for them, it was Cephas. Cephas, also known as Peter, he had denied Jesus three times. Peter had turned his back on the very Son of God who he had seen raise the dead and heal the sick. Yet, Jesus did not reject Peter. Instead, He lifted Peter up and restored him.

This is one of the many reasons I love God’s Word, because it’s real. The writers of scripture did not blot out the shortcomings of Peter. God’s Spirit did not inspire the writers to only record the good actions of God’s servants. Instead, we read through scripture the stories of imperfect men and women who God uses despite their shortcomings.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

As fragile as jars of clay, all our cracks and broken edges reveal the power within. Peter did not have the power in himself to admit relation to Jesus, but years later he endured much pain and suffering for his King. This is the power of God to change a life and to use us to impact those around us. Praise God that He uses imperfect people to work out His perfect plan.

“God chooses people that are not perfect to follow Him, to tell others about Him and to lead others.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Thank You for dying for a sinner like me and for using me to share this news with others. Help me to overcome my weaknesses with Your power as well as to stand in Your grace when I stumble. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
