September 25th 2026 – From Hurt to Healing: Embracing Forgiveness Over Revenge

Scripture Reference:

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord. On the contrary: ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:19-21)

Reflection:

When we face something truly evil—an act that seems senseless and unjust—it is natural to feel a surge of anger and the desire for revenge. It’s a primal response, rooted in our sense of justice. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard, one that transcends our instinctual reactions.

Understanding Our Feelings:
Acknowledge the hurt. It’s okay to feel pain, anger, and confusion when wronged. These feelings are valid, and God understands our struggles. He sees the depth of our hurt and the injustice we face. But in our raw emotions, we must choose how to respond.

Jesus’ Example:
Consider Jesus, who faced unimaginable evil during His trial and crucifixion. Instead of seeking revenge on those who wronged Him, He forgave them:
“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). His example teaches us that forgiveness is not a sign of weakness but a powerful act of strength and faith.

God’s Justice:
Romans 12 reminds us that vengeance belongs to God. When we take matters into our own hands, we risk becoming consumed by bitterness and anger. God promises to address every wrong in His divine timing. Trusting in His justice can bring a sense of peace, knowing that He sees all and will act accordingly.

Choosing Love Over Revenge:
In moments when revenge feels justified, we are called to respond with love. This doesn’t mean we ignore the evil done to us but rather choose to rise above it. Feeding our enemies and providing for their needs, as Paul instructs, is a radical act that can transform our hearts and potentially theirs.

“Amidst the storms of hurt and betrayal, let your heart be a sanctuary of forgiveness; for in choosing love over revenge, you reclaim your peace and reflect the grace of God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a heart burdened by pain and anger. The hurt inflicted upon me feels so unjust, and the desire for revenge wells up inside me like a storm. In these moments of darkness, I seek Your light and guidance.

Help me to remember that You understand my struggles; You see every wound and every tear. Teach me to lay my burdens at Your feet, trusting that You are the ultimate judge and that vengeance belongs to You. Remind me that Your justice is perfect and that You see all things, even when I feel lost in my hurt.

Lord, give me the strength to forgive those who have wronged me, even when it seems impossible. Help me to let go of the bitterness that seeks to take root in my heart. When thoughts of revenge creep in, replace them with compassion and grace. Show me how to respond with love, just as Jesus did, who forgave even in the face of unimaginable evil.

I pray for those who have hurt me—may they find Your grace and mercy. Help me to see them through Your eyes, recognizing their struggles and imperfections. Let my heart be a vessel of Your love, overflowing with kindness instead of resentment.

As I navigate this difficult path, fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me to find comfort in Your promises and the assurance that You will handle every injustice. May I choose to overcome evil with good, turning my pain into a testimony of Your grace.

Thank You for Your unwavering love and for the forgiveness You have extended to me. I trust in Your plan for my life, even when it feels uncertain. Strengthen my faith as I seek to reflect Your love in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

July 13th 2026 – Could You Not Watch with Me One Hour?

“Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. ‘Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?’ he asked Peter.” (Matthew 26:40)

Reflection:

In the quiet of Gethsemane, Jesus posed one of the most intimate questions He ever asked—”Could you not watch with me one hour?” This wasn’t a question for the crowd or for strangers; it was directed at those who had vowed never to leave Him.

As I reflect on this scene, my focus has shifted from the disciples’ failure to stay awake to the profound significance of Jesus’ return. He was aware of what lay ahead—He had already confided in them that His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. All He asked was for them to be present, to stay awake and watch with Him.

Imagine the weight of that moment. Jesus, in His deepest anguish, fell to His face, pleading with the Father for another way. When He returned to find His closest friends asleep, His response was not one of anger, but of grief. This is where we often miss the mark. Instead of judging the disciples for their absence, we should consider the loneliness that Jesus felt—carrying the weight of the world while those He loved were physically there but emotionally distant.

How many people in our lives are in their own Gethsemane right now? They may not be asking for solutions or answers; they may simply need us to sit with them in their pain. Can we be present without trying to fix things? Can we hold space for the heavy conversations, the moments that challenge our comfort?

Presence is a form of love that feels increasingly rare in our fast-paced world. We often show up for the celebrations and the highlights, but what about those moments that happen in the stillness of the night, when it’s inconvenient and we’d rather be anywhere else? Jesus is still asking today, “Could you not watch with me one hour?”

Every time someone reaches out in pain, every time a friend goes quiet and needs someone to notice—even when we feel tired or distracted—Jesus invites us to stay. The disciples may have failed to be present in that moment, yet Jesus still went to the cross for them. This is the essence of grace: it doesn’t demand perfect attendance or unwavering strength; it thrives in our imperfections and our willingness to show up.

Let us remember that grace allows room for failure, and love is found in our efforts to be present, even when we fall short. As we navigate our relationships, let’s strive to embody that same grace. When someone is in their moment of need, let us ask ourselves, “Could I not watch with them, even just for an hour?”

May we be the presence of Christ in the lives of others, and may we find strength in our shared vulnerability. For in those moments, we reflect the heart of Jesus—who asks us not for perfection, but simply for our presence.

“True love is found not in grand gestures, but in the quiet moments of presence, where we simply sit with those in pain, reflecting the heart of Christ in our willingness to stay.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, In the stillness of Your presence, we come before You with humble hearts. Thank You for the gift of grace that allows us to be imperfect and yet still loved. Help us to be more like Jesus, who invites us to share in the burdens of others.

Open our eyes to those around us who are in their own Gethsemane, longing for someone to simply be present with them. Grant us the strength to sit in the discomfort of their pain without feeling the need to fix it. Teach us to listen, to hold space, and to reflect Your love in our actions.

May we find joy in being that comforting presence, even when it’s inconvenient. Remind us that our willingness to stay, even for an hour, can bring light to the darkest moments.

We ask for Your guidance as we strive to embody Your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

May 3rd 2026 – The Danger of Empty Declarations: Seek True Connection

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'” (Matthew 7:21-23)

Reflection:

In this sobering passage, Jesus shares a profound truth about the nature of genuine faith. The context of this verse reveals that many will come before Him on the final day, confident in their religious activities. They will recount their deeds—prophesying, casting out demons, performing miracles—all in His name. Yet, despite their impressive resumes, Jesus will respond with chilling finality: “I never knew you.”

This warning is not just for the unbeliever but speaks to all of us within the church. It challenges us to consider what it truly means to follow Christ. Are we merely going through the motions of faith, or are we actively cultivating a relationship with our Savior? It’s easy to get caught up in the performance of faith—attending services, participating in ministries, and even sharing our testimonies—yet miss the core of what it means to truly know Him.

Jesus emphasizes that entrance into the kingdom of heaven hinges on doing the will of His Father. This is not a call to legalism but an invitation to live out our faith in a way that reflects our love for Him. Our actions should stem from a heart transformed by grace, not from a desire to earn His favor.

Considerations:

  1. Examine Your Heart: Take time to reflect on your personal relationship with Jesus. Are you engaging in spiritual practices as a routine, or do you seek a deeper connection with Him? Authentic faith is rooted in love and obedience, not just ritual.
  2. Know His Will: To avoid the risk of being cast away, immerse yourself in Scripture. Understanding God’s will is essential. What does He desire from you? How can you align your life with His teachings?
  3. Live Out Your Faith: True faith is evidenced by our actions. Are you living in accordance with God’s commands? This includes loving others, serving the needy, and pursuing righteousness.
  4. Seek Accountability: Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage and challenge you in your walk with Christ. Like-minded Christian friends can help us stay grounded and focused on our spiritual growth.
  5. Pray for Discernment: Ask God to reveal any areas in your life where you may be living in lawlessness. Seek His guidance to transform those areas and draw closer to Him.

Let us not take our faith lightly. The call to follow Christ is a call to transformation. Strive to know Him deeply, and let that knowledge shape every aspect of your life. Don’t risk finding yourself in the situation of being unknown to Him; instead, seek to be known and loved by the One who gave everything for you.

“True faith is not found in the words we speak but in the relationship we cultivate; let us strive to know Christ deeply, so we are never among those who hear, ‘I never knew you.'”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, grateful for Your grace and mercy. I thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus, who calls me into a deeper relationship with You. Help me to examine my heart and ensure that my faith is genuine and not merely a facade. I do not want to risk hearing those chilling words, “I never knew you.”

Guide me to live according to Your will, not for the sake of performance, but out of love and devotion to You. Reveal to me any areas of my life where I may be straying from Your path, and grant me the courage to make the necessary changes. Surround me with fellow believers who will encourage and challenge me to grow closer to You.

Lord, may my actions reflect Your love and righteousness, and may I seek to know You more deeply each day. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, guiding my thoughts, words, and deeds, so that I may shine Your light in this world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

October 20th 2025 – The Master’s Hands

Scripture Reading:

“Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” (Isaiah 29:16)

Reflection:

Imagine…the God of the universe, who breathed life into the stars and painted the skies with wonder, is the very same One who intricately crafted you into being. Every detail—your eyes, your smile, your hands—was lovingly designed by the Creator who cradles the oceans in His palms. It’s a humbling thought, isn’t it? In a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable, what comfort it brings to know that the One who knows every hair on your head created you with purpose and intention—and still longs to shape you into His reflection.

This journey of transformation is often challenging and, at times, painful. There are moments of molding, cutting, and reshaping that can feel overwhelming. Yet, within our Master’s skilled hands, we are being refined into a masterpiece. When we surrender our lives to Him, He can take the hardened clay of our hearts and breathe new life into it, saturating it with His Word and Spirit. He gently chisels away the burdens and excesses that weigh us down, working tirelessly to form us into the image of His Son.

In times of hardship, trials, or life-altering challenges, it’s easy to feel lost and alone. We may find ourselves questioning the “why” behind our struggles, grappling with pain that seems unjust. Some challenges stem from our choices, while others come from circumstances beyond our control. But take comfort in this: whatever situation we face, God is using it to mold us. Even when the process is difficult and the path unclear, we can trust in His hands because He loves us deeply and knows what is best for us.

I have walked through valleys of extraordinary hardship, trials, and loss; each experience has left its mark on my heart. Yet, as painful as those moments were, I wouldn’t trade them for anything. They have shaped me into who I am today—a work in progress, but one that is held securely in the hands of the Master. I am reminded that His name is written on my heart, and I belong to Him.

“Just as a skilled potter shapes clay with intention and care, God lovingly molds our lives through every trial and triumph, transforming our brokenness into a masterpiece that reflects His grace and love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the forgiveness of sins through Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for the gift of salvation and the transformation You bring into our lives. Lord, I come before You as a broken vessel, asking that You take this clay and make it new. Mold my life into a reflection of Your love and grace. Help me to see my struggles as Your hands shaping me into the likeness of Christ. May I embrace the challenges that come my way, recognizing them as opportunities for growth and deeper reliance on You. Fill me with Your strength in moments of weakness, and grant me the courage to trust in Your perfect plan, even when I don’t understand. Use my life for Your glory and purpose, so that I may be a light in this world, reflecting Your love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
