May 29th 2026 – Stop Living Off of Yesterday’s Bread

Scripture Reference:

“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day… When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, ‘What is it?’ For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, ‘It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat.'” (Exodus 16:4-5, 13-15)

Reflection:

In the wilderness, the Israelites faced a daily choice: to trust in God’s provision or rely on their own understanding. God provided manna each morning, fresh and nourishing, urging His people to gather only what they needed for that day. This lesson was not just about physical sustenance but a profound spiritual truth: we cannot thrive on yesterday’s blessings.

Imagine a person who once experienced a deep encounter with God. They remember the joy of that moment, the peace that flooded their heart, and the clarity that came with it. Yet, as days turn into weeks, they find themselves reminiscing about that moment rather than seeking new experiences of God. They live off of “yesterday’s bread,” missing the fresh manna God offers today.

Story:

Once, a man named David found himself in a spiritual drought. He recalled the vibrant days of his faith—a time when he felt God’s presence with him like a warm embrace. But as time passed, he stopped seeking that connection. Instead, he relied on memories of past encounters, thinking they would sustain him.

One day, while on a walk, David saw a field of wildflowers swaying in the breeze. Each flower was unique, vibrant, and alive, reminding him of the beauty of God’s creation. He felt a nudge in his spirit: “Just as these flowers bloom anew each season, so too does my grace. Seek me daily; I have new mercies for you.”

That moment ignited a spark within him. David began to pray and read scripture daily again, allowing God to fill him with fresh revelations and strength. He learned that living off of yesterday’s bread only left him hungry and unfulfilled.

Application:

  1. Daily Seeking: Make it a habit to spend time with God every day. Whether through prayer, reading scripture, or simply sitting in silence, seek His presence anew.
  2. Letting Go of the Past: Acknowledge past experiences with God, but don’t let them define your current relationship. God is constantly inviting you into deeper intimacy.
  3. Trusting His Provision: Remember that just as God provided for the Israelites daily, He desires to meet your needs today. Trust that He has fresh blessings and revelations waiting for you.

As you go about your day, remember: God has something new for you today. Don’t settle for the leftovers of yesterday. Seek His fresh presence, and let Him nourish your soul anew.

“Don’t let yesterday’s blessings overshadow today’s opportunities; seek the fresh bread of God’s grace that nourishes your soul anew each day.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your unwavering love and daily provision. I acknowledge that there are times I cling to past experiences instead of seeking You in the present. Forgive me for living off of yesterday’s bread and for not trusting in Your ability to provide for my needs today.

Help me to cultivate a heart that yearns for You daily. Open my eyes to see the fresh mercies and opportunities You present each morning. Teach me to embrace the new blessings You have in store for me, whether in my relationships, my work, or my spiritual journey.

Guide me as I seek to deepen my relationship with You. May Your Spirit fill me with wisdom and understanding as I read Your Word and spend time in prayer. Help me to let go of the burdens of yesterday and to trust in Your goodness for today and tomorrow.

Thank You for the promise that Your grace is sufficient for me, and that You desire to draw me closer to You. May I always remember that each day is a gift, and in Your presence, I find true nourishment for my soul. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

April 10th 2025 – Our Spiritual Journey to Heaven

Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.(James 4:14)

As we traverse this life, it is essential to remember that our time on earth is but a fleeting moment in the grand tapestry of eternity. The brevity of life is a truth echoed throughout Scripture, urging us to make the most of every day we are given. James 4:14 reminds us, “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” This profound insight compels us to reflect on how we are living and what truly matters.

Our spiritual journey to Heaven is one marked by choices, growth, and preparation. Each day presents us with opportunities to draw closer to God and to deepen our faith. It is a path that requires intentionality, as we seek to align our lives with His will. The call to salvation through Jesus Christ is not one to be delayed or taken lightly. Hebrews 3:15 encourages us, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” The urgency of this message resonates deeply, reminding us that tomorrow is never guaranteed.

In our fast-paced world, it is easy to become distracted by the demands of daily life, allowing our spiritual growth to take a backseat. Yet, we are called to be vigilant and proactive in our faith. As we journey, we must ask ourselves: Are we nurturing our relationship with Jesus? Are we living in a way that reflects His love and grace? Ephesians 5:15-16 instructs us, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”

To be prepared for our eternal home in Heaven, we must cultivate a heart that seeks after God. This involves regular prayer, immersing ourselves in His Word, and engaging in fellowship with other believers. It is through these practices that we grow spiritually, equipping ourselves for the challenges we may face along the way. Matthew 7:7 reminds us, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” God is faithful to respond to our earnest search for Him.

Moreover, our journey to Heaven is not solely for our benefit but is also a testament to those around us. As we embody the love of Christ, we become beacons of hope to others, drawing them toward the salvation that is found in Him. 1 Peter 3:15 encourages us to “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” Our lives can serve as a living testimony of God’s grace and mercy.

In conclusion, let us not take our time on earth for granted. Life is short, and the call to salvation is urgent. May we strive to be prepared, embracing each day as an opportunity to grow in faith and draw others to Christ.

“As we journey toward Heaven, let us hold fast to the promise of eternal life, living boldly for Him.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize the gift of life and the urgency of our spiritual journey. May we seek You wholeheartedly, preparing our hearts for our eternal home. Guide us to live wisely and to share the hope we have in You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

April 9th 2025 – Destination Heaven

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3)

As believers, our ultimate destination is Heaven—a place of eternal joy, peace, and communion with God. In this earthly life, we often face trials and tribulations that can weigh heavily on our hearts. However, Jesus reassures us that He is preparing a place for us in His Father’s house. This promise brings hope and comfort, reminding us that our struggles are temporary and that a glorious eternity awaits us.

Heaven is not just a distant dream; it’s a reality crafted by our Savior, a home where we will dwell in His presence forever. Consider the beauty and peace of this place, free from pain and sorrow. Let this vision of Heaven encourage you to persevere through life’s challenges, knowing that each step you take brings you closer to your eternal home.

Spend a few moments in silence, imagining what your eternal home in Heaven will be like. Reflect on the joy of being in the presence of God and the loved ones who have gone before you. Let this vision inspire you to live each day with purpose and hope.

This week, share the promise of Heaven with someone who may be struggling. Encourage them to find hope in the eternal perspective that God has promised to those who believe in Him.

Let us not take our time on earth for granted. Life is short, and the call to salvation is urgent. May we strive to be prepared, embracing each day as an opportunity to grow in faith and draw others to Christ.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Heaven and the assurance that You are preparing a place for me. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You and to live in a way that honors You as I journey through this life. May I be a light to others, sharing the hope of Heaven with those around me. Strengthen my faith and fill my heart with peace, knowing that I am destined for a beautiful eternity with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

March 22nd 2025 – Right Where We Are

“For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.” (Acts 25:11)

What does God see when he looks at you? He sees you clearly right where you are. God knows your potential. He created you. He knows the gifts and talents that He has given you. God knows how He wants to use you to love and serve Him and others. Sometimes God will use things in our lives that we least expect Him to use. In Acts 25, we see God using Paul’s Roman citizenship to give him the opportunity to preach the Gospel before King Agrippa and a huge audience in the amphitheater at Caesarea. Like Paul, God is able to use you to do incredible things right where you are. No gift or talent is too big or too small. No circumstance too dire, God can use it.

Do you want to be used by God? You can start right where you are in your home, workplace and in your church. How are you serving God today? How will you be serving God a month from now or even a year from now? I want to encourage you to start serving God right where you are. God has got an awesome adventure planned for you; a miraculous mission lies waiting for you if you choose to accept your mission. God will use you in ways you never thought possible.

“God wants to work through you right where you are with what you have right now.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Open my eyes so that I can ask the tough questions in my life. Give me understanding on how to live out the Truth I believe. Shower me with Your grace when I stumble, and fill me with Your Spirit so that I can live for You. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the gifts, talents and circumstances You have given me. I commit to using my gifts to glorify You… starting today. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
