“God has made everything beautiful for its own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Life is full of up’s and down’s, sometimes we are going through mountains, and other times we go through valleys. We go through successes, and we go through failures.

With the weather, there are four seasons. But in life, there are many different seasons. And every season of life includes both good and bad times.

(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) identifies many different life experiences: “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace”

Life is a combination of many seasons. All sunshine and no rain makes a dry baren desert, too much rain causes a flood. If you’re following God’s will, if you’re trying to live your life according to the way God wants you to live, then you’ll eventually see that these experiences can have purpose and value in your life.

You may think that the only time you’re in God’s will is when you’re in church or having a quiet time with the Lord.

You can be in God’s will as you’re at work. You can be in God’s will as you’re making dinner for your family. You can be in God’s will when you move to a new town or stay right where you are. There’s a time and season for everything.

When your going through a season and it seems like all hell is breaking loose, seek and lean on Jesus for peace in the storm. Scripture reminds us that “God has made everything beautiful for its own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11) Because the Bible is saying that God can take even the bad things, and in the proper season, turn them around and use them for good in the way He intends.

You may be going through a season right now that is not beautiful. Your finances look bad. Your health looks bad. Your marriage or a relationship with your children looks bad. Maybe a friendship looks bad. Your forcast for the future looks like storms after storms.

But God can make something good out of it as you trust him with the broken and damaged pieces.

“Do not seek the world. Seek Peace, Seek Truth, Seek Love, Seek Jesus!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise you for the good seasons that You have blessed me with. And during the not so good seasons I will continue to seek You. Thank you Lord that with You we can victorious over every season, every storm, every broken relationship and every trouble or obstacle in life. Thank you that you have overcome sin, and death, and any evil that we may face today. And because of you, we too are overcomers. We too can have victory, and we can walk strong in your peace in every season and especially in the raging storms when my very survival looks hopeless. I trust in You that something good and beautiful will be revealed as I trust You with the broken and damaged pieces. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 2nd 2018 – How Much Longer

“They shouted to the Lord and said, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?” (Revelation 6:10)

In chapter 6 of the book Revelation, we read about those who were put to death for their faith. They are in Heaven, aware of the injustice, aware of the fact there were fellow servants still on earth being mistreated. So they prayed this prayer to the Father: ”O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world to avenge our blood for what they have done to us?”. In other words, Hey, Lord, this isn’t right, How much longer? When are You going to do something about it?

Here was God’s response to their prayers:

Then a white robe was given to each of them. And they were told to rest a little longer until the full number of their brothers and sisters—their.  fellow servants of Jesus who were to be martyred—had joined them. (Revelation 6:11)

God’s timing is not always our timing. The Bible says that “He has made everything beautiful in His time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

It kind of reminds me of taking a trip when my children were young. You are driving along, about hour into the trip you hear “How Much Longer before we get there?”

What do you say? “We are almost there. A little bit longer, or we are almost there”

The martyred saints were asking when they would be avenged. And God was saying, Just a little bit longer.

We say things like, “Lord, when are You going to come back?” He says, Just a little bit longer. “When is my prayer going to be answered?” Just a little bit longer. Be patient, I am in control. I am doing everything according to My perfect will.

“God’s delays are not necessarily His denials. So keep praying.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, deliver us from anxiousness when we have been falsly accused or wronged. Continue to keep us quickened to deliver Your message of salvation to everyone who will listen, until that day we die or You return again. We thank you for Your love and presence,  Lord protect us in this time so that we may continue share Your gosple until the very end. We praise You for the day when Jesus returns. Amen.

January 19th 2018 – In Hindsight Struggles

“Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Sometimes we think that certain things in life are bad, while other things are good. But as we get a little older, we have an advantage of being able to look back and see life in a much different way. We begin to realize that certain things we thought were good were actually bad, and certain things we thought were bad were actually good.

This is one reason David was described as a man after God’s own heart (see 1 Samuel 13:14). He knew God was in control of His life. David reasoned that the things he was going through, even the hard times, were preparing him for what came next. And he was right. David was being prepared for the great responsibilities that would eventually rest on his shoulders.

(Ecclesiastes 3:11) says, “God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.”

I’m convinced that when we get to Heaven, we will have a completely different perspective on what happened to us in life. We will look back at some of the most difficult times in our lives and realize that God was at work, developing character, endurance, and, most importantly, Christ-like-ness in us.

Christians like to often quote (Romans 8:28) “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” But very few people quote the verse that immediately follows: “For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.”

God’s end game is to make us holy. God’s goal is to make us like Jesus.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am sorry for my resistance to Your hands in my life. I know that I need to be molded more into Your image, and I ask that You continue to Carve off the sin in my life and shape me into a vessel that can be used for Your Kingdom. Thank You for loving me and that I don’t have to lean on my own striving or the hope that my best is good enough. Lord, I don’t want my best, I want Your best. Please help me to commit all my plans to You so I can be more like Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

November 30th 2017 – How Much Longer?
