August 14th 2025 – Fruit of the Spirit – Part 2 of 9

We are on the 2nd day of a 9-day journey to learn about all of the fruit of the Spirit – the gifts of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that come from God.

What is the Fruit of the Spirit?
When you think of the word fruit, you probably think of something like an apple or a banana, right? Well when Paul talks about the “fruit of the Spirit” he is not referring to piece of fruit that you might eat with your lunch. What Paul has in mind here is what comes out of a person who has been filled with the Holy Spirit.

Lots of things and situations can make us happy, but what does it mean to have joy? True joy comes from knowing and following Jesus, and God gives us joy as one of the fruit of the Spirit.

Jesus said to His disciples, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11). That sounds almost too good to be true! How can we experience this fullness of joy?

“The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2).

Unfortunately, the world has a shortage of joy and a surplus of fear, worry, discouragement and depression. Even the “pursuit of happiness” and obsessive pleasure-seeking do not bring deep and lasting joy.

Biblical joy—the true joy—comes from filling the spiritual void with good relationships, primarily an intimate relationship with the One who is pure joy. Jesus put it this way: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit”(John 15:5). That fruit includes much joy!

What then? Our unique joy begins because Christ lives in us. (Galatians 2:20). He tells us to “rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20). We then have an intimate relationship with the One” Psalms 43:4 calls “God my exceeding joy.” In His presence “is fullness of joy” (Psalms 16:11).

“Joy is not found in the absence of challenges, but in the presence of a loving God who fills our hearts with strength and hope.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I welcome you into my heart. I thank you for your Joy and Happiness, and the spiritual fruits that you gave to me. True Joy is not possible without the presense of Your Holy Spirit in me. I love You Lord.. In Jesus’ name I thank you and praise you. Amen.

August 13th 2025 – Fruit of the Spirit – Part 1 of 9

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

The term “Fruit of the Spirit” encapsulates the nine essential attributes that should define a genuine Christian life. These attributes—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—are not simply individual traits to be selected at will. Instead, they collectively represent the singular fruit that characterizes those who truly walk in the Holy Spirit. Every Christian is called to embody these qualities as a testament to their journey with Jesus Christ.

The fruit of the Spirit serves as a tangible reflection of a believer’s transformed life. To grow in our faith, it’s crucial to explore and embrace these nine attributes:

Over the next eight days, we will dive into the Nine Biblical Attributes of the Fruit of the Spirit. Let’s start with the first: Love.

Love

“We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (1 John 4:16)

In our relationship with Jesus Christ, our ultimate aim should be to act in love. As stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Fruit of the Spirit = Visible Growth in Jesus Christ

“In every act of love, we reflect the heart of God; it is through love that we uncover the true essence of our faith.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I invite you into my heart. While I await the day I can be with you, I thank you for making your home within me through the Holy Spirit. I am grateful for your love and the gift of love you’ve bestowed upon me. The true essence of love can only flourish through the presence of Your Holy Spirit in my life. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I thank you and praise you. Amen.

August 12th 2025 – I Surrender

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

Surrendering is often viewed as a sign of weakness, but in the Christian faith, it is a profound act of strength. To surrender means to relinquish control, to yield our will to God’s purpose, and to trust in His wisdom and love. When we say, “I surrender,” we are choosing to place our lives, our struggles, and our dreams in the hands of our Creator.

Consider the life of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. In His moment of anguish, He prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” This was a surrender not just to suffering but to the divine plan that would lead to redemption. When we surrender, we align ourselves with God’s desires rather than clinging to our own.

What Does It Truly Mean to Surrender?

  1. Trust: Surrendering means trusting God even when the path is unclear. It’s acknowledging that His plans are greater than our understanding.
  2. Letting Go of Control: It’s about releasing the tight grip we often hold on our lives, recognizing that we cannot foresee every twist and turn. In surrender, we find freedom.
  3. Seeking His Will: True surrender involves seeking God’s will over our own. It’s a daily commitment to align our desires with His purpose.
  4. Embracing Peace: When we surrender, we open ourselves to the peace that surpasses all understanding. We can let go of anxiety and fear, knowing that God is in control.

Surrender is not a one-time event; it’s a continuous journey of faith. Each day, we are called to lay down our burdens and trust God’s path for us. As we surrender, we discover the depth of His love and the beauty of living in His grace.

“To surrender is to place our hearts in the hands of the One who knows our every dream and fear, trusting that His plans will lead us to a peace far beyond our understanding.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You, weary and burdened. I choose to surrender my life into Your hands. Help me to trust in Your plans, to let go of my need for control, and to seek Your will above all else. Fill my heart with Your peace as I walk this journey of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 11th 2025 – Embracing the Holy Spirit

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” (John 14:16-17)

As we journey through our faith, it’s essential to remember the incredible gift of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised us that He would send the Holy Spirit to be our Comforter, Helper, and Guide. This promise is not just a historical fact; it is a living reality for every believer today.

The Holy Spirit dwells within us, making His presence known in our thoughts, actions, and decisions. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we experience a profound transformation. This filling goes beyond mere knowledge; it empowers us to live out our faith with boldness and grace.

“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18)

In Ephesians 5:18, Paul encourages us to be filled with the Spirit. This filling is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. Just as we need to drink water daily to sustain our physical bodies, we must continually seek the filling of the Holy Spirit to nourish our spiritual lives.

Take a moment to sit quietly and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you anew. Reflect on any areas of your life where you need His guidance or empowerment. As you go about your day, be attentive to His leading and promptings, allowing His presence to transform your heart and actions.

Look for opportunities to serve others today, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or sharing an encouraging scripture. Allow the Holy Spirit to work through you, making an impact in someone else’s life as you reflect His love and grace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. I recognize that I cannot live out my faith on my own; I need Your Spirit to guide and fill me. Help me to desire Your presence in my life and to seek Your filling daily. May the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—be evident in my life. Teach me to be sensitive to Your leading and to walk in obedience to Your Word.

I pray that as I am filled with Your Spirit, I would reflect Christ’s love to those around me and boldly share the hope I have in You. Thank You for not leaving me alone but for providing me with the Holy Spirit to empower me each day. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

August 10th 2025 – Majesty in Every Moment

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” (Psalm 8:1)

Psalm 8:1 invites us into a moment of awe and worship, reminding us of the majesty and glory of God. The psalmist begins with a powerful acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty and magnificence. When we consider the grandeur of creation—from the vastness of the universe to the delicate beauty of a flower—we are compelled to recognize the greatness of the Creator.

God’s name is not just a title; it embodies His character, His power, and His love. The psalmist expresses a deep reverence, reflecting on how God’s glory is evident not only in the heavens but also throughout the earth. This duality reminds us that God’s presence and majesty are all around us, waiting for us to notice and appreciate.

In our fast-paced lives, it can be easy to overlook the wonders of God’s creation. Yet, when we take a moment to pause and reflect, we can find His fingerprints in the world around us. The mountains, the oceans, the stars—all declare His glory.

Today, take a few moments to step outside or look out a window. Observe the beauty around you—whether it’s the sunrise, the rustling leaves, or the intricate patterns of nature. Let these sights remind you of the majesty of God.

Consider how you can honor His name in your daily life. Are there moments when you can express gratitude for His creation? How can you share this wonder with others?

As you go through your day, keep a heart of gratitude and a spirit of wonder. Reflect on the majesty of God’s name and how it resonates in all aspects of life.

“Embrace each day as a new canvas, where your choices create the masterpiece of your life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the beauty of Your creation and the majesty of Your name. Help me to recognize Your glory in all that I see and encounter. May my life reflect Your greatness, and may I share Your love and wonder with those around me. Amen.

August 9th 2025 – Standing Strong Against Weariness

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

In our walk of faith, we often encounter challenges that test our endurance and resolve. The enemy, recognizing that he cannot take our lives, will instead aim to wear us down, hoping to sap our strength and dilute our joy. This tactic is subtle yet powerful; it can manifest as fatigue, discouragement, or a feeling of being overwhelmed by life’s demands.

Consider the story of Job. His faith was tested through immense suffering, yet he remained steadfast. The devil sought to wear him down, but Job’s unwavering trust in God led to his restoration. Like Job, we must remember that our struggles are not without purpose. They can refine us, deepen our faith, and draw us closer to God.

When we feel weary, it’s crucial to turn to Scripture for renewal. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-30 to come to Him when we are burdened: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Finding rest in Christ is not merely about physical relaxation; it’s about spiritual rejuvenation.

Take a moment to reflect on the areas in your life where you feel worn down. What steps can you take to seek rest and renewal in Christ? Consider journaling your thoughts and prayers as a way to process and invite God into those spaces of weariness.

Remember, the enemy may seek to wear you out, but your strength is renewed in the presence of the Lord. Keep pressing forward; you are not alone in this battle.

“Though the enemy may try to wear you down, let your faith be the armor that renews your spirit and keeps your heart steadfast in God’s promise.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You are with me in my struggles. When I feel worn out, remind me of Your strength and grace. Help me to lean on You, find my rest in You, and trust in Your plans for my life. I pray for renewed energy and focus to continue fighting the good fight of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 8th 2025 – Forgiveness, A Journey to Freedom

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to carry the weight of unresolved conflicts and grudges. Yet, in this powerful verse, Jesus underscores the importance of forgiveness in our relationship with God and others. When we approach God in prayer, He desires that our hearts are clear and unburdened.

Forgiveness is not simply an act of kindness; it is a transformative process that brings freedom and healing. Holding onto anger or resentment can create barriers between us and God. Jesus teaches us that our prayers are most effective when we release those who have wronged us.

Take a moment to sit in silence, inviting the Holy Spirit to bring to mind anyone you need to forgive. As names or faces arise, offer a simple prayer of release, asking God to heal those relationships and to fill your heart with His love.

This week, reach out to someone you may have unresolved issues with. Whether it’s a simple conversation or a heartfelt letter, take a step toward reconciliation, allowing God’s forgiveness to flow through you.

“Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the prison of our hearts, allowing God’s love to flow freely. In the quiet moments of prayer, may we release our burdens and embrace the healing that comes from letting go. To forgive is to transform our pain into grace, creating space for reconciliation and renewal.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of prayer and the opportunity to communicate with You. Help me to examine my heart and identify any grudges I may be holding. Grant me the strength to forgive those who have hurt me, just as You have forgiven me. May my prayers be sincere and unhindered, aligning my heart with Yours. Teach me to reflect Your love and grace in all my relationships. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

August 7th 2025 – From Foolishness to Faith: Embracing God’s Wisdom

“People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:3)

In our journey through life, it’s easy to point fingers when things go wrong. We often find ourselves frustrated and questioning God’s plans, especially when we face the consequences of our own choices. Proverbs 19:3 serves as a poignant reminder that our missteps can lead to ruin, and yet, rather than taking responsibility, we sometimes direct our anger toward God.

This verse invites us to engage in self-reflection. It challenges us to consider how our decisions—rooted in impulsivity, pride, or a lack of discernment—can lead us down paths of disappointment and heartache. When we ignore wisdom and guidance, we may find ourselves entangled in situations that bring pain, not only to ourselves but also to those around us.

However, this isn’t just a message of warning; it’s also a call to grace. The beauty of our faith lies in the understanding that God is always ready to meet us where we are. When we acknowledge our mistakes and bring our frustrations to Him, we open the door to healing and restoration. He invites us to learn from our foolishness, to seek His wisdom, and to trust in His unfailing love.

As you go through your day, take a moment to reflect on your choices. Are there areas where you may be acting foolishly? How can you invite God into those situations to bring about change and understanding? Consider journaling your thoughts and prayers, allowing space for God’s wisdom to guide you moving forward. Remember, it’s never too late to seek His direction and embrace the grace He offers.

“True wisdom begins when we acknowledge our missteps, embrace God’s grace, and choose to learn from our foolishness rather than blame Him for our choices.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word that guides us and for the wisdom found in Proverbs. Help us to recognize our own foolishness when we stray from Your path. Teach us to take responsibility for our choices and to seek Your guidance in every decision we make. When we feel angry or frustrated with our circumstances, remind us of Your grace and the mercy You offer. May we learn to lean on You, trusting that You can bring good out of our mistakes. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

August 6th 2025 – Will We See Our Loved Ones in Heaven?

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

The question of whether we will see our loved ones in heaven is one that stirs deep emotions within us. It is natural to long for the comfort of knowing that those we cherish will be with us in eternity. The promise of heaven offers us hope, and it is this hope that fuels our mission to share our faith with others.

Why we must have a conversation about Jesus with our loved ones.

As believers, we are called to share the message of Jesus with our unsaved loved ones. This calling is rooted in love, hope, and the understanding of eternal consequences. We need to remember that every interaction we have can plant a seed of faith. Our relationships with our family and friends are often the most impactful, as they see our daily lives and witness our faith in action.

Yet, what happens when our loved ones are not receptive to the Gospel? It can be disheartening, but even in those moments, we must continue to shine as a “lamp on a hill” (Matthew 5:14). Our lives serve as beacons of light in this dark world, and our unwavering faith can be a powerful testimony. People watch us, sometimes more closely than we realize.

Being diligent in our faith means living out the values of Christ in our daily actions. It encompasses kindness, patience, forgiveness, and love, even when faced with rejection or indifference. This authenticity and consistency can eventually break down barriers and open hearts to the message of salvation.

Take a moment to reflect on the loved ones in your life who may not yet know Jesus. Are there ways you can be a light to them? How can you demonstrate your faith in practical, loving ways? Remember that your actions may speak louder than words, and your steadfastness in faith can leave a lasting impression.

“Be diligent in sharing Jesus, for the end days are upon us; His return will come like a thief in the night, and every soul matters in the light of eternity.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of eternal life with You and the hope of reuniting with our loved ones in heaven. Help us to be persistent in sharing Your love and truth with those who do not yet know You. Give us patience and understanding as we navigate our relationships, especially when faced with rejection. May our lives be a reflection of Your light, drawing others closer to You. Let us shine brightly in the darkness, and help us to remain diligent in our faith. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

August 5th 2025 – Confidence in Christ

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

In our journey through life, we often face challenges that may shake our confidence. Doubts and fears can creep in, making us question our abilities and worth. However, as Christians, we are reminded that our confidence does not rest on our own strength or understanding, but on our relationship with Jesus Christ.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we gain more than just salvation; we receive the assurance that we are never alone. The Creator of the universe walks beside us, empowering us to face life’s obstacles. Philippians 4:13 reassures us that through Christ, we have the strength to overcome any challenge. This verse is a powerful reminder that we can approach life’s uncertainties with boldness because we are anchored in Him.

Take a moment to reflect on areas in your life where you struggle with confidence. Write them down and pray for strength and assurance. Meditate on the truth that with Jesus, you are capable of all things. Let this devotion inspire you to step out in faith, knowing that your confidence is rooted in Him.

This week, identify one challenge that has been holding you back. Take a step towards overcoming it, whether by seeking help, taking a leap of faith, or simply trusting in God’s guidance. Remember, you are equipped through Christ to face whatever comes your way!

“With Jesus as my foundation, my confidence is unshakeable; every challenge becomes an opportunity to rise in His strength.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering presence in my life. Help me to remember that my confidence comes from You. When I feel weak or inadequate, remind me of the strength I have through Christ. May I walk boldly knowing that You are with me every step of the way. Help me to trust in Your plans and purpose for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
