September 3rd 2025 – Open My Eyes

“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” (Psalm 119:18)

In the quiet moments of our lives, we often seek deeper understanding and clarity in our spiritual journey. Psalm 119:18 is a beautiful reminder of the importance of spiritual sight. The psalmist’s plea to God to “open my eyes” is not just a request for physical sight but a yearning for spiritual insight. As we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, we ask Him to reveal the wonders hidden within His teachings.

Imagine standing in a vast field of wildflowers. At first glance, they appear to be a simple collection of colors. But when you take a closer look, each flower has its unique shape, color, and fragrance, telling a story of God’s creativity and attention to detail. Similarly, when we ask God to open our eyes, we begin to see the richness of His law and the profound truths it holds.

  1. Seek God’s Wisdom: Begin each day by asking God to open your eyes to His truths. What messages does He want you to see in your life today? This simple prayer can transform your daily routine into a sacred journey.
  2. Embrace the Wondrous: As you read Scripture, look for the “wondrous things” the psalmist speaks of. Reflect on how these truths apply to your life. Allow God’s Word to challenge you, comfort you, and inspire you to grow.
  3. Share Your Insights: When you experience a revelation or a moment of clarity, share it with others. Your insights can encourage and uplift those around you, fostering a community of faith and understanding.

Take a moment of silence to reflect on this prayer. Consider writing down any insights or thoughts that come to mind as you ponder how God is opening your eyes to His truth today.

“Lord, open my eyes to the wonders of Your Word, that I may see the beauty in each moment and embrace the truths that guide my journey.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, asking that You open my eyes to the wonders of Your Word. Help me to see beyond the surface of my daily life and recognize the beauty of Your teachings. May Your wisdom guide my steps, and may I be a light to others as I share the insights You reveal to me. Thank You for Your love and for the gift of Your law. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

September 2nd 2025 – The Gift of Obedience

“When the LORD first spoke to Hosea, He said to him, ‘Go, take for yourself an adulterous wife and children of unfaithfulness, because the land is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the LORD.’” (Hosea 1:2)

In our modern world, it’s common to hear Christians express sentiments like, “The Lord just wants me to be happy” or “God wouldn’t ask me to do anything beyond my strength.” Yet, when we delve deeper into Scripture, we see a different narrative. God often calls His people to undertake journeys that seem impossible, filled with challenges and sacrifices.

Take Hosea, for instance. He was commanded by God to marry a woman who would break his heart, a powerful symbol of God’s relationship with His unfaithful people. Consider Abraham, who faced the unfathomable task of sacrificing his beloved son, Isaac—his laughter, his joy, the embodiment of God’s promise. Then there’s Mary, honored as the most blessed among women, who stood at the foot of the cross, witnessing the agony of her Son. Each of these figures faced unique trials but shared a profound commitment to obedience, even in the face of deep suffering.

In Matthew 16:24-25, Jesus invites us to embrace a radical path: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” This call is not merely an invitation to happiness; it’s a call to transformation, a challenge to our very nature.

Jesus endured unimaginable suffering to liberate us from the chains of sin. His sacrifice was not for our fleeting happiness or to fulfill our selfish desires; it was to set us free and to provide a blueprint for living in that freedom. He exemplified how to love selflessly and to put others before ourselves, teaching us that true fulfillment lies in service and sacrifice.

Choosing to follow Christ is not always easy. It requires us to step beyond our comfort zones and embrace the messy, often painful reality of love and obedience. Yet, in doing so, we honor the incredible price He paid for our lives. Our obedience, then, becomes our gift back to Him—a testament to our faith and love.

“Obedience is not the absence of struggle, but the courage to embrace the journey, trusting that each step is a reflection of love and a gift back to the One who sacrificed everything for us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the incredible love You have poured out on me, a love so profound that You endured a brutal death and the weight of my sins. Your sacrifice is a reminder of the depth of Your grace and mercy. As I reflect on Your journey, I choose to follow You, no matter where You lead me, because my heart is drawn to You in love.

Help me, Lord, to walk in obedience, even when the path is challenging and the sacrifices feel heavy. Grant me Your strength, fill me with Your power, and envelop me in Your love, so that I may willingly lay down my life for others. May my actions reflect the heart of Christ, bringing hope and light to those around me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

September 1st 2025 – Our Thoughts

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

It’s profound that our Lord emphasizes the significance of thoughts when He describes the flow of iniquity from the heart. “For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies” (Matthew 15:19). The heart is the wellspring of our actions, and our thoughts are the initial sparks that ignite the flames of behavior.

No sin manifests without first taking root in our thoughts. Sin often simmers beneath the surface, waiting for the right moment to emerge. Even the quick flash of anger, which may appear spontaneous, is rarely without premeditation. It’s typically the result of prolonged brooding over perceived wrongs and insults. A person quick to anger has likely conditioned themselves, allowing resentment to build until it erupts unexpectedly. This habitual dwelling on grievances creates a cycle that feeds our frustration and bitterness.

Conversely, a person characterized by long-temperedness—someone who embodies patience—demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit, which includes gentleness and self-control. This fruit is cultivated as we submit to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and allow Him to work within us. When we engage in thoughtful meditation on moral truths, reflecting on humanity’s sin, God’s mercy, and the goodness of Christ who died for His enemies, we cultivate a heart less prone to outbursts. A heart that has been molded by grace is less likely to respond with anger and more inclined to react with compassion and understanding.

Consider how often our thoughts can lead us astray. A fleeting negative thought can spiral into anger, resentment, or even despair if left unchecked. The world around us bombards us with negativity, but we have the power to choose how we respond. By focusing on God’s word and His promises, we can transform our thinking and, subsequently, our reactions. Through prayer and meditation, we can train our minds to dwell on what is good, pure, and lovely.

As we seek to embody Christ’s character, let us remember that our thoughts shape our hearts and our hearts shape our actions. In moments of irritation or offense, we can choose to pause and reflect, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our responses. The worst reaction to an affront or injustice will become annoyance or mild irritation, rather than a burst of sinful anger.

“True transformation begins in the heart; when we nurture our thoughts with grace and compassion, we cultivate a spirit that responds to the world with patience and love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and strength. Help me to relate to others as You do—with boundless patience, grace, and gentleness. Teach me to recognize the thoughts that lead me away from Your character, and give me the wisdom to take control of my mind when negativity threatens to take root.

Lord, I ask that You help me cultivate a heart that reflects Your love and mercy. When I am faced with challenges or offenses, remind me of Your forgiveness and the grace You have extended to me. May I be quick to forgive others, just as You have forgiven me, and may my reactions be rooted in Your compassion rather than my frustrations.

Help me to meditate daily on Your Word and the truth of Your promises, so that my thoughts may align with Your will. I desire to walk in the Spirit, producing the fruit of patience and kindness in all my interactions. Thank You for Your unending love and for the work You are doing in my life. I ask all these things in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 31st 2025 – His Gentle Voice

“Then He said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.’ Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind, there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” (1 Kings 19:11-12)

In this powerful moment, we find the prophet Elijah, feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, following God’s command to go to the mountain and wait. Like many of us, Elijah might have expected a dramatic display of power—a showstopper that would affirm God’s presence. God did send spectacular events: a violent wind that split mountains, an earth-shaking quake, and a consuming fire. Yet, His voice was not in any of these awe-inspiring phenomena.

How often do we, too, crave the extraordinary? We often search for God in the loud and the dramatic, only to overlook the gentle nudges of His Spirit. The truth is, most of the time, God speaks to us in the quiet moments—through that still, small voice within us. This voice is the Holy Spirit, patiently guiding us if we allow ourselves to be still and listen.

Jesus reminds us in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” If our focus is always on the external—on the “winds, fires, and earthquakes” of life—we risk missing the profound ways God communicates with us. It’s essential to remember that God is Spirit, and true worship comes from a heart that seeks Him in spirit and truth.

There’s a beautiful song I used to listen to called “Heart to Heart,” which captures the essence of our relationship with God. It’s not just about words; it’s a deep connection—spirit to Spirit. So today, I invite you to carve out some time amidst your busy life. Find a quiet space, silence the distractions, and just be still. Open your heart and your mind to hear what your Heavenly Father is saying to you. Trust me; you won’t be disappointed by what He reveals.

“Amidst the storms and chaos of life, it is in the quiet stillness that we truly hear the whispers of God, guiding our hearts toward His truth.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the promise that Your sheep know Your voice. I come before You as one of Your flock, seeking to deepen my connection with You. Teach me to recognize Your voice amidst the noise of life and to hear You distinctly and clearly. Help me to discern the spirits that speak to me, so I may know which are from You and which are not. As Your Word tells us, we must test the spirits to see if they align with Your truth.

Lord, I pray that You draw me closer to You, so that I may always recognize and respond to Your voice, never straying to listen to the voice of a stranger. May our relationship grow stronger each day, as I seek to worship You in spirit and truth. I ask for Your guidance and wisdom, that I may walk in Your light and reflect Your love. May my heart be open to hearing Your gentle whispers. I pray all these things in the name of Jesus, my Savior. Amen.

August 30th 2025 – Don’t Over Complicate Your Faith

“The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.” (John 5:15)

How quickly this man was turned into a witness for the Lord; it happened on the very same day he had met Jesus! I’m sure he still faced challenges in his life, just like all of us do, but he didn’t allow those difficulties to hinder his witness. He began to share the incredible story of how Jesus had healed him and made him whole. His testimony was sincere, simple, and free from the weight of his past problems.

Often, we complicate the act of sharing our faith. We think we need to have all the answers or present ourselves perfectly. In reality, one of the most powerful tools we possess in sharing our faith is the straightforward act of telling others what Jesus has done in our own lives. The simple yet compelling testimony of God’s goodness can resonate deeply with those around us. We should strive to share our experiences of His grace and mercy, reaching out one person at a time. Let’s commit ourselves to this mission until the whole world hears about His love.

“We should be sharing what He has done in our lives when we are talking about Jesus. Don’t complicate your faith.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of salvation and for the transformative power of Your love. I stand in awe of how You have changed my life, bringing light into the darkest corners of my heart. Empower me, Lord, to be a faithful witness for You, starting in my home, my neighborhood, and my workplace. Help me to share my story with courage and clarity, so that others may see Your goodness through my testimony.

I once was blind, but now I see the beauty of Your grace. Remind me to keep my message simple and heartfelt, reflecting the truth of who You are. Fill me with Your Spirit, so that I may boldly proclaim Your love, bringing hope to those around me. May my words inspire others to seek You and experience the same healing and wholeness that I have found in You.

Lord, let my life be a beacon of Your light. Help me to persist in this mission, not just in grand gestures, but in everyday conversations and acts of kindness. I pray this in the powerful name of Jesus, who makes all things new. Amen.

August 29th 2025 – Keep Looking Up

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28)

In today’s world, it often feels like we are facing an endless wave of challenges. From natural disasters to political upheaval, economic instability to social unrest, the headlines can be overwhelming. For many, these events evoke fear and uncertainty. If this world is all there is and it’s clearly unpredictable and broken, how can anyone find hope? Yet, as followers of Christ, we are called to view these circumstances through a different lens—a biblical perspective that offers clarity and assurance.

Jesus warned us about tribulations. Scripture reminds us that due to sin, our world is indeed affected by brokenness and chaos. But here’s the good news: this is not the final chapter. Yes, we see the evidence of a fallen world in the rise of natural disasters and tragedies that echo throughout history, much like the horrific events we witnessed on 9/11. Yes, these occurrences may intensify as we approach the culmination of time. BUT, this is not the end.

When calamity strikes, look up. When you see suffering around the globe, look up. When you experience personal grief or loss, look up. When you observe society and governments turning away from God, look up—because your redemption is drawing near. In the end, Jesus will put an end to all suffering. He will restore and heal this fractured world. Until that day arrives, we are called to lift our heads high and proclaim the peace that is found in Jesus. While sin has caused these issues, we hold fast to the truth that Jesus will ultimately resolve them.

In these trying times, let us not only look up but also extend our hands to those who may feel lost. Share the hope you have in Christ with others, reminding them that even in the darkest moments, there is light to be found.

“No matter what the future holds, we can know WHO holds the future.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and the unshakeable peace I can have through Jesus. Help me to trust You in every situation, no matter how difficult it may seem. Each time I encounter the pain and suffering of this world, remind me to look up and find solace in the promise of Your return. Fill my heart with boldness to share this hope with others, so they too may experience Your love and healing. May Your Spirit guide me to be a light in the darkness, reflecting Your grace and truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 28th 2025 – Helping the Weak

“To our shame, I say that we were too weak for that! But in whatever anyone is bold–I speak foolishly–I am bold also.” (2 Corinthians 10:21)

How do you treat those who are struggling? Whether it’s a coworker facing a heavy burden, a server at a restaurant who seems overwhelmed, or a friend or family member in need of encouragement, your response reveals much about your character. Why is that? Because those who are weak or in distress often cannot offer us anything in return. When we extend kindness to the less fortunate or reach out to those barely hanging on, we do so with the understanding that there is no tangible reward awaiting us. This truth exposes the authenticity of our intentions: if we choose to ignore those in need simply because it serves us better, we must confront the reality of our own motives.

In 2 Corinthians 11, Paul lays bare the trials he faced for the sake of others. His perseverance amidst suffering was not for personal gain, but so that the lost might hear the life-giving message of Christ. This is the essence of true service—sacrificing our comfort for the sake of others. I long for this to be the hallmark of my life, and I believe you share this desire. Today, let’s open our eyes to those around us who may be weak, impoverished, or hurting. Let’s embody the love of Christ in action, serving them selflessly. Yes, it may cost us: our time, our resources, our energy—but in the grand tapestry of God’s kingdom, every act of love is a thread woven into something beautiful.

“True strength is revealed not in our triumphs, but in our willingness to uplift the weak and serve without expectation, for it is in selfless love that we reflect the heart of Christ.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit yearning for transformation. Forgive me for the times I have helped others with selfish motives, seeking recognition or reward instead of genuine compassion. Grant me a heart that beats in rhythm with Yours, one that aches for those who are suffering, lost, or in need. Help me to see beyond my own circumstances and to understand the struggles of those around me.

Lord, fill me with Your Spirit so that I may serve with joy and humility. Teach me through Your Word and guide my actions so that they reflect Your love and grace. Let me be a vessel of hope and healing in a world that desperately needs both. May I learn to give of myself freely, no matter the cost, trusting that You will provide for my needs as I care for others. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

August 27th 2025 – What If We Chose Our Bible Over Our Smartphones

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

Imagine a world where we treated our Bibles with the same care and attention as we do our smartphones. What if we carried them everywhere, checked them frequently, and turned to them for guidance in every situation? This devotion invites us to reflect on our relationship with God’s Word and how we might deepen it by adopting habits inspired by our smartphone usage.

  1. Always Accessible: Just like our phones are readily available, we can keep our Bibles nearby. Whether it’s in our bags, on our nightstands, or even on our coffee tables, having the Word of God close at hand reminds us to turn to it throughout the day. Consider designating a specific spot for your Bible—a place where you can easily reach for it, just as you would for your phone. This small change can encourage you to engage with the Scriptures more often.
  2. Regular Check-ins: How often do we check our notifications, scroll through social media, or respond to messages? Imagine if we checked our Bibles with that same frequency! Setting aside moments each day—perhaps during lunch breaks, while waiting in line, or before bedtime—to read a verse or two can transform our spiritual lives. You might even consider setting reminders on your phone to prompt you to open your Bible, creating a daily habit of seeking God’s Word.
  3. Seeking Guidance: When we face challenges or tough decisions, we often reach for our phones to search for answers or advice. What if we turned to Scripture first? Instead of Googling our problems, we could seek wisdom in God’s Word. The Bible is full of verses relevant to our struggles, providing comfort, encouragement, and direction. Try keeping a journal to jot down questions or concerns, and then spend time praying and looking up verses that address those issues. Allow the Bible to be your first source of guidance.
  4. Sharing with Others: We frequently share posts, memes, and updates with friends and family. What if we shared verses or insights from our Bibles instead? Encouraging others with Scripture can foster community and uplift those around us. Consider starting a group chat where you share daily verses or thoughts, or simply send a verse to a friend who might be struggling. This not only enriches your own faith but helps build a support system rooted in God’s Word.
  5. Avoiding Distractions: Just as we sometimes put our phones away to focus on important tasks or meaningful conversations, we should create space to engage deeply with our Bibles. Finding a quiet moment to meditate on Scripture can deepen our understanding and relationship with God. Consider setting aside specific times for focused Bible study—free from distractions—where you can immerse yourself in His Word without interruptions.
  6. Staying Updated: We often keep our phones updated with the latest apps and notifications. How can we apply this to our spiritual lives? Regularly reading the Bible allows us to stay updated with God’s teachings and promises. Consider joining a Bible study group or following a reading plan that challenges you and keeps you accountable.

This week, set a goal to treat your Bible like your phone. Carry it with you, check in regularly, and seek its wisdom before turning to other sources. Notice how this practice transforms your daily life and spiritual growth. Reflect on the insights you gain and how they influence your decisions and interactions with others. Embrace the opportunity to deepen your relationship with God through His Word, just as you would with a trusted friend.

“True strength lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we do, fueled by faith and the courage to keep moving forward.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to cherish Your Word as I do my phone. May it be my guide, my source of comfort, and my constant companion. Teach me to seek You in Scripture, to share its truths, and to make time for Your wisdom amidst the distractions of life. Remind me that Your Word is alive and active, ready to speak into my circumstances. Amen.

August 26th 2025 – The Apple Seed

“Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.” (1 Corinthians 15:36)

God is an incredibly creative force in our lives. In His infinite wisdom, He not only creates fruits and vegetables that sustain us but also provides seeds that hold the promise of new life and growth. Each seed is a testament to the potential that lies within.

Recently, as I was slicing an apple to share with my pet chickens, I found myself reflecting on the hidden potential within that seemingly simple fruit. As I removed the seeds, I contemplated how many trees could emerge from those tiny seeds. While we can count the seeds and imagine the number of trees they could yield, what remains beyond our comprehension is the sheer abundance of apples that could spring forth from just one seed over the years.

This thought may seem ordinary, but let’s delve deeper into its application in our lives. When we earnestly ask Jesus for forgiveness and embrace the gift of being born again, we become like that seed, planted in fertile ground. Just as a seed must die to itself to sprout anew, our old selves must fade away to make room for the new life God has in store for us. As we surrender our lives to Christ, we unlock an extraordinary potential to impact the world around us.

The Lord gazes upon our lives with a profound understanding of our journey. He knows the countless times we will stumble, the moments of triumph, and the lives we will touch along the way. He holds the power to transform our lives into a fruitful harvest, but the question remains: Are you ready to produce? Are you prepared to grow and bear fruit? When you wholeheartedly commit your life to Christ and walk in obedience, you’ll witness remarkable transformations—not because you are the perfect seed, but because He is the perfect gardener. Trust Him, and watch as the harvest unfolds before your very eyes.

“Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your unwavering love and grace that surround me daily. I am grateful for Jesus and the incredible gift of salvation that comes through Him. Lord, I praise You for Your faithfulness and ask that You help me fully grasp the impact my life can have when dedicated to Your purpose. August 25th 2025 – Standing on the Promises

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

In our walk of faith, there are moments when the weight of our circumstances feels almost unbearable. You might find yourself asking, “Is this ever going to change? Will healing truly come? I’ve been praying for a spouse for so long, and each passing day makes me feel the weight of time more heavily.” These thoughts can lead to discouragement, but the scripture reminds us with a powerful encouragement: “DON’T GIVE UP.”

It’s easy to lose heart when the answers seem delayed or the blessings feel far out of reach. Yet, amidst these struggles, we must remember that God is perpetually at work in our lives and the lives of those around us. He is orchestrating events in ways that may not be immediately evident to us. It’s not just about our individual journeys; it involves a tapestry of people and circumstances that God is weaving together for our ultimate good.

God is shaping us into the image of His Son, and this process can take time. When things seem to stall, it’s a gentle reminder to hold on. Trust in your loving Father, who knows the best path for you. Let Him take the reins, and you will witness how beautifully everything unfolds according to His perfect plan.

The journey may be filled with bumps and uncertainties, but remember: God is the creator of the train, and He knows how to steer it through every twist and turn. The call for endurance is not just a suggestion; it’s an invitation to experience the depth of His faithfulness. Patience may be challenging, yet if we commit to doing His will, we will eventually receive the promise He has for us. So today, focus your eyes on Him. Make Him the center of your life, and at the right moment, you will look back and say, “I’m truly grateful I waited.”

“Every challenge is an opportunity for growth; embrace the struggle, for it shapes the strength within you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, today I come before You with an open heart, choosing to surrender my plans and desires to You. I recognize that Your ways are higher than mine and that You always have my best interests at heart. Help me to wait patiently in faith, trusting that You are working behind the scenes, crafting a beautiful story from my life. May I find strength in my moments of doubt and keep my eyes fixed on You, knowing that Your timing is perfect. Thank You for Your unwavering love and guidance. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
