July 15th 2019 – Make That Call

“and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15)

When we go through major disappointments in life, our natural reaction is to pull back and isolate ourselves. We want to handle it ourselves. We want to keep our losses, our failures, our mistakes and crises a secret. We want to withdraw. This really is a terrible idea.

When going through these types of struggles is also when you need your friends the most. You need to accept help from others. God doesn’t intend for you to handle all the pain and stress in your life by yourself. We were wired for each other. We need each other. We’re social beings. The first thing God said in the Garden of Eden is, “It’s not good for man to be alone.” We’re made to be in relationships.

Job 6:14 says, “When desperate people give up on God Almighty, their friends, at least, should stick with them.”

There will be times in your life when you are in so much pain you will say, “I don’t even believe in God right now!” You need to have friends who will come alongside you and say, “That’s OK. We’ll believe God for you right now.”

There will come a time when you’ll say, “I don’t have any faith right now. I’m full of doubt.” That’s when you need your friends to step in and say, “That’s OK. We will have faith for you. We will trust God for you in this.”

“By helping each other with your troubles, you truly obey the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). What is the law of Christ? It’s this: Love your neighbor as yourself. The Bible commands us to help each other. Every time you help somebody who’s going through pain, you are fulfilling the law of Christ.

Trying to handle your trouble yourself will only make you more tired and stressed out. You need to accept the help of others and let your friends carry you through it.

Our Lord Jesus is only a call away, And He already knows the trouble your having. He is already calling out to you. Answer His call,

“Give Jesus a try….if you don’t like Him, the enemy will always take you back!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for my friends and loved ones. Thank You for the amazing comfort that I can find in You. Please refill my spirit because I feel so broken at times. I praise you for not forsaking me in times like these. Because of Your love, I can have peace and forgiveness for all my sins. Because of Jesus, I am free from the penalty of sin and no matter what happens on this earth, I will be healed and loved for all eternity. Father, help me to remember these things and to pass them on to those who are thirsting for Your refreshing comfort. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Seeking Comfort from Jesus?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

(Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:)

Seeking Jesus? Pray this prayer with me.

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have prayed this prayer, Congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! July 14th 2019 – The Truth Shines Bright

“The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” (Psalm 119:160)

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

The word of God is so very important! I encourage you to read your Bible every day, asking God to reveal Himself to you as the light of His word shines on your heart. The complete Bible, from the Old the New Testament speaks to us of Jesus. To understand God’s plan of redemption, we consider all things in the Old Testament in the light of Jesus and the New Testament writers. The Old Testament points forward in time, preparing the way for the work of Christ which is described in the New Testament. Together they give us the greatest understanding of God’s amazing plan and the enduring truth of His word. “The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.” I love this quote by Saint Augustine. It highlights the remarkable way the two testaments of the Bible are so closely interrelated with each other.

God says in His word that when we seek Him we will find Him when we search for Him with all of our heart.

Do you need more of God’s light and love and strength and joy in your life? Dig into your Bible and seek Him with your whole heart. He will show you things you’ve never seen before and enlighten and renew your mind.

“The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for Your word and the wonderful way You reveal Yourself to me in it. I want to know You more and love You more. Please help me commit my heart to seek You and grow in my understanding of who You are and how much You love me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

July 13th 2019 – Planting Seeds, Waiting for the Harvest

“And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.” (Mark 4:26-28)

Jesus, in this passage of scripture, gives us the way everything in life and the kingdom works.  You don’t wake up one day after you planted a seed and expect to see a full grown plant.  No, you plant the seed and you see a little growth each day.

In the kingdom of God it works the same way.  You plant seeds of giving and as you work the seed you see a harvest.  You plant seeds of friendship and after a while you see the harvest.  You take God’s Word and plant seeds of joy, or peace, or love, and after a while you see it come back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.  Each seed comes in its different growth pattern.  I believe this is where many believers miss it.  We have this instant mentality.  We think, I planted that yesterday so I should have a harvest today.

No, just like a regular seed, you’ve got to let it grow. Go ahead plant things and then keep watering them. Make sure they get good sunshine and give them the proper period of time that the seed needs and it will grow and bring forth a great harvest.

I have seen this over and over.  People have someone lay hands on them and when they don’t see instant results they get discouraged and let the seed die. No! Hold onto that seed and let it sprout and grow.  It’s got to become a blade first, then the head, and then after that the full grown results of your seed.

“Don’t dig up in doubt what you planted in faith.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, please help us take hold of the seed and plant it in our hearts today.  May we not let it go until we see a full harvest. Forgive us for the times before that we gave up, that we judged and for times we did nothing at all.. Lord God, thank you for all that you do in our lives, most of all for your sacrifice. In Jesus’ name, Amen

July 12th 2019 – His Workmanship

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” (Ephesians 4:2-3)

Did you know that God has good things prepared for you to do for Him? He does! You are His workmanship. The original language had the idea of a poem. By grace you are saved through faith, not works, and this is a glorious gift from God. You are in Christ and you can do all the things He has for you to do in His strength and power. You are able to be patient and humble and gentle with the people in your life.

Be the first to change.

As you do this, you are walking in grace and love, two very big things God prepared for you to do for His glory! Because of Him, you can be the first to change. This is a powerful way to bring peace and unity to your relationships.

“Whenever I say, ‘I want to reason this thing out before I can trust,’ I will never trust. The reasoning out and the perfection of knowledge come after the response to God has been made.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me. Thank You for Your grace in my life. I want to do all those good things You prepared for me and bring You glory and honor. Please forgive me for not being patient and gentle and not making allowances for people’s faults. Help me be the first to change and to be who You created me to be in Christ Jesus. July 11th 2019 – Active Devotion and Surrender to Jesus

“But has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.” (2 Timothy 1:10-11)

In Luke 7, we’re presented with the overwhelming devotion of a woman who had been living a life of sin but desired the forgiveness found in Jesus. Her devotion was not simply a spoken commitment or a passing acknowledgment. Her devotion led her to purchase expensive perfume so that she could pour it over the feet of Jesus. This was not a mild act of symbolism but a costly act of love and brokenness.

As Christians, we too are like this woman who has come to the feet of Jesus seeking forgiveness. His forgiveness is free to those who would ask, and yet His forgiveness should lead us to something more. When we realize the weight of our sinfulness alongside the love seen on the cross, it causes us to give all we have for our Savior. Like the woman in Luke 7, we desire to pour out our lives at the feet of Jesus not in order to purchase salvation, but because we love Him.

“Our commitment to the Lord is often a reflection of our understanding of the price He paid for each of us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,  Thank You for saving me from my sins. Thank You for dying on the cross so that I could be freed from eternal separation from You. Give me the power to surrender all of my life to You. May the works of my hands and the words of my mouth be a sweet aroma to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you are seeking Jesus in your life or want to recommit your life to Him. Please Read Below.

July 10th 2019 – Only One Way To Heaven

“So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening. And some were persuaded by the things which were spoken, and some disbelieved.” (Acts 28:23-24)

Interesting… Paul used what part of the Bible? He used the Hebrew Scriptures. Paul used the Old Testament to show that Jesus was the Messiah; Yeshua HaMashiach in Hebrew. It’s amazing to me how many churches, pastors and Christians are willing to throw aside the Hebrew Scriptures calling them outdated or not relevant for today. We see Jesus all through the Old Testament! He’s in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and all the way through the Psalms and into the prophets. You cannot throw out the Hebrew Scriptures without saying that Jesus is no longer relevant. Some would try to say that there are other paths to God. It is true that all paths do lead to God, but there’s only one path that leads to Heaven. Everyone will stand before God, but without Jesus, you will be eternally separated from Heaven and God at that meeting.

“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

Jesus did not say, “I am one of many ways.” God has provided THE way for forgiveness and restoration to Him and that way is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on a cross and was resurrected from the grave for our sins.

Jesus is the way to God’s forgiveness. He’s the only way.

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

“For the Christian, heaven is where Jesus is. We do not need to speculate on what heaven will be like. It is enough to know that we will be forever with Him.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for providing the means for my salvation. Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the cross for my sins so that I can be saved. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins. Please give me the courage to be a witness for You here on earth. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

July 9th 2019 – Reaching The Lost With Passion

“My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed – cut off from Christ! – if that would save them.” (Romans 9:2-3)

We all have a passion for something. It may be for our family, our job or even for our favorite hobby. These are all great things, and we can enjoy sharing these passions with others. Unfortunately, many Christians do not have a passion for the lost. They will rally behind their favorite sports team or spend hours discussing the latest movies to hit the theaters, but when pressed about those who are without Jesus, they are indifferent. We cannot be indifferent towards the lost. We should pray for the same passion Paul had for the lost.

Paul proclaims in no uncertain terms that he would willfully give up his own salvation so that his Jewish brothers and sisters would be saved. Now that is reaching the lost with passion. So how do we gain this passion? I believe, in part, it comes from understanding what the future holds for those who die without Jesus. To imagine any of my loved one’s being eternally separated from God and punished for their sins, causes me to tremble. This sorrow leads me into a passionate desire to see them saved. How about you? Together, let’s seek out those who need Jesus, share His love and change the world!

“We should have a sorrow and a passion for the lost.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your salvation and Your love for me. Father, help me to be mindful of the lost. Give me a passion to proclaim Your name and to pray for those who need You. I pray that You would draw my friends and family to Yourself so that they too may know the peace that comes from a relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

July 8th 2019 – Be of Good Courage?

“Arise, for this matter is your responsibility. We also are with you. Be of good courage, and do it.” (Ezra 10:4)

God may be the director of the universe, but He has given us power to make decisions. You have a decision to confess your sins to Him and to ask for His forgiveness. You have a decision whether to serve the Lord, give to the Lord or share the Gospel with others. No matter who you are, you have an opportunity to change the world through your decisions.

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua 24:15)

As you read this devotional, there is a world filled with people who desire peace. They desire love. They desire hope in something greater than the economy, who is president or their own ability. As a follower of Christ, we can make the decision to share with them how to change their life and those things by sharing the Gospel. We can serve them. We can offer them our time, resources and compassion. God will empower us to do mighty things, but we must decide to do it. Choose this day who you will serve, and do it!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I desire to choose You above everything else. Lord, give me courage to step out on to the battlefield to serve You and share your glorious message to others. Give me a heart of compassion and a willingness to think of others before myself. God, use me to change someone’s life by directing them to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

July 7th 2019 – Memory Full, No Space Available

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

I’ve been known to fill up the storage space on my smart phone. I take lots of pictures, reminders of things needed for work, friends and family. I keep them all on my phone. I often back them up to my computer but I keep alot of them right there on my phone, many are of them are the important people in my life and my pets and I enjoy looking at them. But just the other day I was trying to save a document, and my memory was full.

Wouldn’t it be great if, when the devil comes knocking at the door of our minds with an illicit thought, a message pops up that reads, (Memory is full with the Word of God.) There’s no room for you or your thoughts. Don’t even bother? Far too often we have a lot of storage available, and we’re willing to entertain those thoughts.

Temptation, in most cases, comes through the doorway of our minds. Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3).

When our guard is down and those flaming arrows of ungodly thoughts come our way, we are to “Cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Paul also said, “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praise worthy meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8).

Let’s think about things that will build us up not things that will tear us down.

Trials and temptations will come. Take steps now to be prepared for that.”

Prayer:

Thank You for loving me. I know that I have done wrong and have sinned against You. Father, please forgive me and fill me with Your Spirit so that I can fight temptation. We call upon You in the times that ungodly thoughts and temptations enter our mind. Give us the strength to delete these spiritual attacks right away. our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. Protect us in our temptations. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life’s trials and temptations that come in our of life. When fear and panic, shock and dismay are close by, so are you. Maywe always recconize you ,  Keep us ever in Your watch until these storms of life pass. In Jesus’ precious and glorious name, Amen.

July 6th 2019 – Destination Heaven

Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live.” (John 14:1-3)

Heaven is an actual place.

It isn’t an “idea” or a “state of mind”; it’s a location, like Phoenx or New York City or Paris. We often think of Heaven in sort of a mystical way, and our minds gravitate toward the versions we have seen in childrens books or TV, where people in white robes floating around on clouds with a halos over their heads, strumming a harp.

How mundane! That is certainly not the Heaven of the Bible. The Bible uses a number of words to describe Heaven. One word it uses is paradise. In the Gospels, we’re told that Jesus was crucified between two thieves. When one of those thieves, in the final moments of his life, put His faith in Jesus, he said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom” And Jesus replied, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43)

Heaven is also compared to a city. In (Hebrews 11:10) we’re told that this city’s architect and builder is God Himself. And then (Hebrews 13:14) says, “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”

Now, we know that cities have buildings, culture, art, music, parks, goods and services, and events. Will Heaven have all of these things? We don’t know. But we can certainly conclude that Heaven will in no sense be less than what we experience here on earth with the exception of all things harmful or evil.

Heaven is also described as a country. (Hebrews 11:16) says, “They desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God.”

Heaven is a paradise, a city, a country . . . and so much more that we can’t begin to wrap our limited minds around it. But one thing I do know: Jesus is expecting me, and He’s prepared a place for me. What more could I ask for?

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth and remember we can only get to Heaven by Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I have done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life.  I also thank You for the hope You have freely given to me through Your Son Jesus. Lord, help my doubt when I cannot see. As I eagerly wait in expectation of Your coming, strengthen me to persevere in the calling You have laid before me. I know that all things work together for good to those who love You. Lord, I commit my life to Your purposes today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
