March 16th 2018 – God’s Word Revives

“Therefore, I will always remind you about these things–even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.” (2 Peter 1:12)

I find it completly amazing how the Word of God can revitalize our hearts. You can be going into a dive of doubt and fear when someone will comw along and quote a scripture verse that suddenly pulls you out of your discouragement. No matter how long you have been a Christian, you need to be reminded of spiritual truths.

That is why Peter wrote, “Therefore, I will always remind you about these things–even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live” (2 Peter 1:12–13).

When we lose sight of God’s spiritual truths, the His living word of the bible corrects us. It revives us. “The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul.” (Psalm 19:7)

There were two discouraged disciples on the Emmaus Road, they had recently lost all hope after Jesus was crucified. They didn’t realize that He had risen. Then Jesus began walking with them, but they didn’t recognize Him. He began to open the Word of God to them and pointed them to all of the Scriptures that alluded to His death and sacrifice. Afterward they said, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32).

God’s living word revives us. It brings us back to life again. If you are not interested in being revived, if you have no interest in being transformed, if you don’t want to grow spiritually, and if you don’t want direction or purpose in life, then don’t read the Bible.

But if you wish that your life had focus and purpose and direction, then start reading it. The living word of God revives us.

“The instructions of the LORD are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the LORD are trustworthy.” (Psalm 19-7)

“God’s word is perfect and will revive your soul.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for Your written word, a word that is alive and revives us! Thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit. I pray that as of this day forward, I never forget the truths, promises and healing that we receive as Your children from reading Your living word. I pray that Your word and the Holy Spirit be so visibly apparent in our lives that we radiate that we are Your children. May we never forget that we posses Your very DNA in our blood, because you created us and breathed life into us. We are made in your Image, that we can do all things through You. May we start each day Claiming Victory over the strongholds in our lives, Claiming Victory over the very enemy that tries to opress us and to distort the truth. Today and everyday forward I will never forget that I am a Child of the ONE TRUE GOD! In JESUS name, AMEN!

Seeking Jesus in your life?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

March 12th 2018 – Love Like Jesus

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

In 1 Peter 4, the apostle uses an interesting word to describe the love we are to have for one another. He says we are to have a “fervent” love. In the Greek, this word means “stretched out” and carries with it a picture of a runner straining for the finish line. It’s a vivid image of a love that never quits.

Peter commands Christians to work hard at loving each other. The Greek word translated as “deeply,” “earnestly,” or “fervently” is ektenē, used to describe the muscles of an athlete straining to win a race. Peter writes that Christians should do this “above all.” A follower of Christ must make demonstrating the love of Jesus to others his or her first priority. This is always a requirement, but especially crucial during seasons of suffering.

What does this “stretched out” love look like? Peter answers this question with the next quote, “Love will cover a multitude of sins.” In other words, a fervent, stretched-out love is a love that forgives no matter the cost. Like the marathon runner that continues despite the burning in his lungs and the cramps in his muscles because he desires to achieve the goal, so we should endure the pain of rejection and the harsh words of those around us with a love in our hearts and a forgiving spirit. How can we love like this? We can love this way because Christ first loved us. He loved us even though we are sinners. He loved us, even when we rebelled against Him. He loved us with stretched out arms on the cross. Let’s love each other in the same way. Let’s Love like Jesus, because His love never quits!

“For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.” (John 13:35)

“We should stretch ourselves in order to love one another. This means being willing to forgive no matter the cost.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your love and ask that You would help me to love others in the same way. Help me to forgive often, love unconditionally as You love me and serve those around me. Use my fervent love to draw others to Your amazing grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 7th 2018 – Jesus, Friend of Sinners

“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are My followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven.” (Matthew 5:11-12)

How was Jesus known when He walked this earth? He was known as “the friend of sinners.” We might think that sounds like a compliment now, but it surely wasn’t meant as a compliment back then.

Some members of the Jewish leadership establishment were appalled that Jesus would hang out with sinners.

No, He never compromised—this was our holy God in the flesh. But He loved these outcasts, this off-scouring of society, and they knew that He loved them. They were drawn to Him by that love.

We need to love people in the same way. Since we’re going to be persecuted, let’s be persecuted for the right reasons. Not for being self-righteous but for being righteous.

Jesus seeks us. read Luke 15:1-7 and John 18:9 Realize that in the midst of trial, trouble and temptation, He is there with you. Why? Because Jesus chose to be friends with us sinners. You may need to turn around to face Him. But I asure you, He wants to pull you out of your problems and liberate you from sadness, but before He does, He wants to walk with you through the valley. Even when you are in the valley of the shadow of death, He is there. May you know He is there to dry your tears, lighten your load and be a closer friend than any you have ever known. Loved one, right now take a few minutes out of your busy day and turn to Him. You will be glad you did. And so will He.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for seeking me and sticking by me through good times and bad times. You are the true friend. Sometimes, I become content to wallow in self pity. Please forgive me for that and humble me to allow You, through the hands of others, to comfort and even challenge me to trust you and Your promise. Please help me through the times of panic, the times when the pain is crippling and I can’t breathe. Hold me close Jesus when I feel all alone. Remind me that You are here and Love me when I am unable to see past the pain. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 5th 2018 – A Divine Reminder

“Therefore, I will always remind you about these things-even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.” (2 Peter 1:12-13)

Nearing the end of his life, the apostle Peter continued to sound the alarm for believers. In the book of 2 Peter, he spends a lot of time warning against false teachers while also reminding believers to not forget the life-changing power of the Gospel. In fact, in the verses above, Peter mentions his desire to remind the church three different times. Why would Peter be so passionate about reminding believers about the Truth? We forget.

As Christians, our lives have been changed by our faith in Jesus. In God’s sight, we are perfect. While here on earth, we are growing more and more like Jesus every day, yet we are still human. We still allow doubts to creep in. We battle with forgetting about God’s goodness, His love and His power. This is why we need a constant reminder.

Have you ever wondered what the big urgency has been to do away with cash and use credit and debit? This country was founded on biblical principles. The founding fathers of understood the following verse in (1 Timothy 6:10) “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” They thought it to be wise to put a biblical reminder “In God We Trust” on all forged coins and printed money produced by the United States.

This is why reading the bible and being in church regularly are vital to the believer. We need to constantly be reminded of God and His precious promises.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your goodness and grace. This morning, I ask that “anew” Your Holy Spirit to fill me up and give me the power to live for You. Father, use Your Word, Your Spirit and other believers as reminders of Your goodness and Your love for me. Also, help me to be a reminder to others of Who You are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 2nd 2018 – Destination Heaven

“Don’t let this throw you. You trust God, don’t you? Trust me. There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live.” (John 14:1-3)

Heaven is an actual place.

It isn’t an “idea” or a “state of mind”; it’s a location, like Phoenx or New York City or Paris. We often think of Heaven in sort of a mystical way, and our minds gravitate toward the versions we have seen in childrens books or TV, where people in white robes floating around on clouds with a halos over their heads, strumming a harp.

How mundane! That is certainly not the Heaven of the Bible. The Bible uses a number of words to describe Heaven. One word it uses is paradise. In the Gospels, we’re told that Jesus was crucified between two thieves. When one of those thieves, in the final moments of his life, put His faith in Jesus, he said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom” And Jesus replied, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43)

Heaven is also compared to a city. In (Hebrews 11:10) we’re told that this city’s architect and builder is God Himself. And then (Hebrews 13:14) says, “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.”

Now, we know that cities have buildings, culture, art, music, parks, goods and services, and events. Will Heaven have all of these things? We don’t know. But we can certainly conclude that Heaven will in no sense be less than what we experience here on earth with the exception of all things harmful or evil.

Heaven is also described as a country. (Hebrews 11:16) says, “They desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God.”

Heaven is a paradise, a city, a country . . . and so much more that we can’t begin to wrap our limited minds around it. But one thing I do know: Jesus is expecting me, and He’s prepared a place for me. What more could I ask for?

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth and remember we can only get to Heaven by Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I have done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life.  I also thank You for the hope You have freely given to me through Your Son Jesus. Lord, help my doubt when I cannot see. As I eagerly wait in expectation of Your coming, strengthen me to persevere in the calling You have laid before me. I know that all things work together for good to those who love You. Lord, I commit my life to Your purposes today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 23rd 2018 – Sin Kills

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Sin… a tiny word, a huge problem. Think of all the problems in your own life caused by your sin. Think of all the problems in the world caused by the sin of others – wars, violence, stealing, laziness, and envy. On and on and on the list goes and grows. There is a saying, “Sin is the seed, and death is the harvest.” The bible has a lot to say about sin. It tells us that sin is not only the bad things we do, but also the good things we don’t do. When we fail to love, give or help, we are engaging in sin.

As long as we never do wrong and always do right, we don’t and won’t have a problem with sin. “Wow, that really helps!” That may sound easy to some. But the truth is, we are all sinners…

However the Bible tells us how to deal with past sins and how to deal with sin in the present and future. It is easier than you think. “Past sins,” you may ask? Ask for forgiveness.

(1 John 1:9-10) “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.

What about dealing with our present sins? (Hebrews 12:1-2) says that we should strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up and that we should run with endurance the race God has set before us.

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the winning coach, who initiates and perfects our faith. Here is a awsome truth, one you can trust even on Aprils Fools day. Don’t tell God you have a big sin problem, tell the sin problem that you have a Big God. Think about life, think about Jesus, and keep your eyes on Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for taking my sin upon You. I am sorry for the wrong things I have done and for the right I have failed to do. I confess my sins to You and ask for forgiveness. (Confess your sins, by act and by name to Him). Lord, thank You for helping me with my past and present sins. Help me to keep my eyes not on my sin, but on my Savior, Jesus. Help me to soar by casting off the weights of sin. Help me to live the life You have called me to live. I thank You for having a winning game plan for dealing with my Sin, In Jesus’ name, Amen

February 19th 2018 – God’s Love is Eternal and Never Fails

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Have you ever thought about love in the light of eternity? One day all that we know here on earth will be changed. When Christ appears in all His glory, heaven will come to earth and our lives, homes, bodies and relationships will change forever. Yet, there is one thing that will never change. That thing is love. When we see Christ face to face, we will no longer need faith. As we glimpse the realities of heaven all around us, we will no longer cling to hope of a better day. But love will never disappear. The love that created the world and gave life to humanity will still sustain the saints in heaven. The love that walked out of heaven and went to the cross is the same love that prepared a place for us for all eternity. And, the same love that strengthens us in this life is the same love that welcomes us into the next. This love never fails, never wavers and never grows weary. This love is the love of God.

(1 John 4:19) “We love Him because He first loved us.”

Because this love will always remain, let us begin loving even now. We will spend eternity with our brothers and sisters in Christ, so why not love them now? As we love each other with the love given to us through Christ, the world will see it and desire the same. When they do, we can point them to the never-ending source of love, Jesus.

“Love releases the power of the Spirit in our lives and in our churches.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the love You have shown me. Help me to love others in the same way You have loved me. Use me today to share the love of God with someone I see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 18th 2018 – Jesus, A Friend Like No Other.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” (John 20:15)

Jesus asked two very insightful questions of Mary at this point: “Why are you weeping?” and “Whom are you seeking?” Often in life, we find ourselves in a place where we feel like crying and other times find ourselves in tears. Jesus sees those tears and wants to dry them… if we will let Him.

We need to allow Jesus, through the hands and wisdom of others, to tend to our tears. Sometimes though, we become strangely comfortable with pain and sadness. They become almost like old familiar friends. Jesus wants to be the better friend. For some, it may mean breaking a cycle long established and for others, it may mean coming out of a short season of pain.

Seek Jesus. Realize that in the midst of trial, trouble, turmoil and temptation, He is there with you. You may need to turn around to face Him. He wants to pull you out of your problems and liberate you from sadness, but before He does, He wants to walk with you through the valley. Even when you are in the valley of the shadow of death, He is there. May you know He is there to dry your tears, lighten your load and be a closer friend than any you have ever known. Loved one, right now take a few minutes out of your busy day and turn to Him. You will be glad you did. And so will He.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sticking by me through good times and bad times. You are the true friend. Sometimes, I become content to wallow in self pity. Please forgive me for that and humble me to allow You, through the hands of others, to comfort and even challenge me to step out of the mire. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 8th 2018 – When One Door Closes, Another Opens

The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.” (Isaiah 22.22)

Our Lord Jesus, is the One who can open doors for us and also close doors for us. What a comfort to know this.  Many times I come to a place of prayer, and I don’t know what to do, what decision to make? I pray this prayer.

“Heavenly Father, You said that You would open doors for me and also close doors for me.  I have this decision to make, and I’m not sure what to do, but my trust is in You.  I am believing that you will open this door if it’s Your will, and also shut this door if it’s not Your will. I thank you for this in Jesus Name”.

In a prayer like this, we put our complete trust in the will of God, which is always the best.  Now, in saying that, we have to accept what God knows is best for us, and that might not always be what we want. We might want what we just prayed about, but God knows the future and He only wants what He knows will be a blessing for you. It’s not always easy, that’s for sure, but if we could see into the future and see what our loving Father sees, then we would want His will.

The Bible says in (Psalm 37:23) “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way”.  God has my back.  In fact, I want Him to have all of me.  So today, trust Him, as Lord and King of your life, and place yourself into His care and trust. Then, watch your steps line up with His good will for your life.”

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which God has opened for us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You that my steps are ordered by You, and that You Lord will open the good doors for me and shut the bad ones. I trust You and am so greatful for all that You do in my life. I Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

February 7th 2018 – Only If….. Then They Would Believe.

“Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah.”  (Matthew 12:39)

Have you ever thought, If someone were raised from the dead, I know people would believe? Or, If my friends would wittness a miracle they would believe?

Remember the story of the rich man and the beggar named Lazarus? They both died and went into eternity. The rich man had no place for God, but Lazarus was a believer. At that time before the death and resurrection of Jesus, Hades was divided into a place of comfort and a place of torment. Lazarus went to the place of comfort on the heart and bosom of Abraham. The nonbelieving rich man went to the place of torment.

The rich man called out to Abraham, wanting to go back and warn his family about the horrible place he was in. But Abraham told him, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them” (Luke 16:29)

But the rich man persisted. He thought if someone were to rise from the dead, they surely would believe.

Here is what Abraham told him: “If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead” (Luke 16:31)

Maybe, like the rich man, you think that if only your friends and family could witness a miracle, they would believe.

Jesus said, “Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matthew 12:39). Jesus was saying, “You want a sign for a nonbelieving world? Here it is: My death and resurrection from the dead.”

Here is our message to lost humanity: Christ died. He rose. He can forgive you of your sin. That is the message we have to share.

“We are able to witness Gods miracles everyday, if we only would open our eyes and look for them!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your sacrifice for me. I am so thankful for You Lord and all that has been done on my behalf. Give me the power to live a life dedicated to You because You are worthy of everything I have. I love You and want so much to live for You and share your message. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
