January 12th 2020 – Would You Like To Get Well?

When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:6)

What an awesome question! The Lord Jesus has such a way with words! No dancing around the issue. He cuts right to the heart of the matter. Would you like to get well? Would you? That is His question to you today. That is His question to your neighbors and to your friends and family who do not know Him. That is His question to those who ridicule Him in the media and the press. That is His question to those who speak out against Him and even persecute those who believe in Him. That is His question to all of humanity.

He is not just talking about physical wellness here. Jesus is talking about our very soul being cleansed, our guilt being purged and our sins forgiven. He is talking about wellness of the mind, soul and the spirit in addition to wellness of Your body. There is nothing wrong with you that He cannot fix. His death on the cross offers all of these benefits. The amazing thing is that no matter what you’ve done, how you’ve done it or who you’ve been… the offer stands as firm today as it stood yesterday and the day before. The question… Would you like to get well? What’s your response?

If you have not accepted Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, or have been out of fellowship with Him, please pray this simple prayer below with me.

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again in three days defeating death. I have sinned. I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. Please give me the power to live for You all the days of my life. Thank You for forgiving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“There is nothing wrong with us that Jesus cannot fix.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, an internal and external cleansing of all my failures, mistakes and broken promises. Thank you for all of Your promises, and that you never break them. Thank You for Your healing of my life; all of it. I give it to You. Use my life for Your glory. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

January 11th 2020 – Strengh in our Storms

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us–they help us learn to endure. Endurance then develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation.” (Romans 5:3-5)

Life is filled with storms of one kind or another. In the midst of those storms, we tend to respond as if God has somehow been caught off guard. The storm makes no sense. We can’t explain why terminal illness strikes Godly people. We all face them..The anguish of a broken marriage or the overwhelming heartbreak of a prodigal child drives us to doubt God’s purpose, plan and provision. The fear of financial ruin paralyzes us. God understands.

The Bible is filled with men and women who were storm survivors – people of God who endured great pain and weathered intense life storms because they chose to follow Him. The Apostle Paul, known for persecuting and murdering Christians, was forever changed when he met Jesus Christ. While God gave him a life of great power and eternal impact, it was also a life filled with great storms. Paul learned to “patiently” endure the troubles, hardships and calamities that came his way.

Because grain was a precious food source to the Romans, threshing grain was a natural part of every day in ancient Rome. In pictures of early Rome, one man is always seen stirring up the sheaves while another rides over them in a crude cart equipped with rollers instead of wheels. Sharp stones and rough bits of iron were attached to these wheels to help separate the husks from the grain. This simple cart was called a “tribulum” from which we get our word “tribulation.”

No Roman ever used his tribulum as a tool of destruction – only refinement. God uses our trials and storms as tools of refinement to build in us endurance. The word “endure” comes from two Greek words that when combined, give the meaning “to remain under.” It is the capacity to stay under the load, to remain in the circumstances without running away or looking for the easy way out.

The purpose of every storm is to purify and cultivate endurance. Like Paul, we may sometimes feel as if we are being torn to pieces under the pressure of circumstances. But his challenge to the Romans compels us to re-examine our perspective and response to each storm we face.

Endurance is never passive. It is the picture of a soldier staying in the heat of the battle under terrible opposition but still pressing forward to gain the victory.

There are few things that we can count on in this unpredictable life – but we can count on storms to come. We can also count on God’s continual and unfailing strength for those storms. When the hard times come and when bad things happen, we do not have to wonder where God is. Instead we can hold on to the promise that is found in (Jeremiah 16:19), “Lord, you are my strength, and my protection. You are a safe place for me to run in times of trouble.”

Sometimes, like Paul, you can see neither sun nor stars, and no small tempest lies on you. Reason cannot help you. Past experiences give you no light. Only a single course is left. You must stay upon the Lord; and face the storms of life.

No matter what storm rages in your life today – no matter how fierce the winds or how high the waves may be – where you are is no surprise to God. Heaven is not in a panic. Keep your gaze on Him and your glance on the raging waters. “Lash yourself” to Him, and He will supply everything you need to stand firm in the storm.

“Life’s roughest storms prove the strength of our anchor!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, It gets so hard trying to weather the storms of life on our own. I need Your power and strength to face each one. Please teach me to turn to You first. Help me learn to patiently endure the hard times and honor You in the midst of them as I walk by faith. I lift up my mom and faithfully trust in You Lord that you will guide us through the storms and calm the raging seas. In Jesus name, Amen.

Facing the raging storms of life without Jesus will get overwhelming. If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. Jesus loves us and wants to help us through the storms. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus.

January 8th 2020 – Testimony of Life

“And when Baal-Hanan died, Hadad reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pai. His wife’s name was Mehetabel the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab. Hadad died also. And the chiefs of Edom were Chief Timnah, Chief Aliah, Chief Jetheth, Chief Aholibamah, Chief Elah, Chief Pinon, Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar, Chief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.” (1 Chronicles 1:50-54)

Remembering where you came from and where you are going makes up your individual, one-of-a-kind testimony. There is power in the testimony of your life. Revelation 12 talks about believers overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. So, what if your past does not include the seedier things of life? Well, the Bible is clear that we we were all on a death row sentence. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Through His grace and the faith-gift of God, He saves us. Once saved you are a child of God – a priest and a king. There are two people in the Bible who are called both a priest and king – Jesus and you. Now, you are saved and will spend eternity with God.

In a world that is wracked with fear and uncertainty, people need to hear your testimony. Share it and talk about it. Share not in a prideful or bragging way, but out of the joy of your heart. Your testimony could be the very thing that leads someone else to come to Jesus. It might be what they have been waiting for.

“Remember where you came from, who you are and where you are going.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and Praise You in all circumstances. Thank You for the gift of Your Son. I am so grateful for the grace and mercy You have given me. Lord, I want to be a vessel used to glorify Your name. Give me the boldness to share my testimony without fear and uncertainty. Give me the spirit of humility so that I may be used to minister in the lives of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Don’t go through life without Jesus. If you do not know Him personally, accept the greatest gift you could possible ever receive. I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves us and wants to help us. January 6th 2020 – Come to the Lord in Prayer

Remember, O LORD, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach!” (Lamentations 5:1)

Prayer is something often spoken about in church and yet, it is seldom practiced on a regular basis. Some of this may be due to the misunderstanding of what prayer is and what it is not. When we come to the Lord in prayer, He desires that we come as the broken people we are. He desires that we bring our cares, our worries, our pains and suffering to Him because He loves us.

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:6-7)

We don’t need to pretend with God. He knows our hearts and understands our weaknesses. When we come in honest conversation with Him, we can find peace and joy in that time of fellowship. God never meant for you to carry the weight of your life. It’s too much for any of us. Instead, He says to bring it to Him so that He can carry it for us. So when we come in prayer, we can come in joyful surrender knowing that God loves us and that He has our life in His hands.

“When the burdens of life overwhelm you, take them to God in prayer.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the blessing of prayer. I come to You with nothing but empty hands and a heart that desires more of You. Please Lord, take my life and do with it as you please. I trust You and desire to glorify Your name in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 5th 2020 – The Power of God’s Grace

“May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:2-3)

Knowledge is a powerful thing. With knowledge we have the ability to create buildings, machines and cure diseases. Knowledge helps us understand the universe around us and when put to action, knowledge can produce countless results, both good and bad. Yet, there is a specific knowledge that, when acted upon, brings eternal life. This is the knowledge of the Gospel.

Many scholars throughout history have examined the bible and can understand the words on the page yet few have actually experienced the life-changing effect of those words. The Gospel is more than just a story; it is the power of God for our salvation.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8)

The truth of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection can lead us into a relationship with God or can condemn us. It depends on what we do with it. God’s powerful, life-changing grace rests on the pages of scripture and calls for us to trust it. When we do, we will truly experience the amazing grace so often sung about. This grace brings peace to the soul and hope for the future. Do you know that grace?

“Only God could reach so low and lift us so high”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your offer of grace. Lord forgive me of my sins and make me new. I believe in what Jesus has done on my behalf and trust in His death and resurrection for my salvation. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I will be strengthened to live for You. In Jesus name, Amen

January 4th 2020 – Spiritual Battles

“After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.” (1 Chronicles 18:1)

Jesus promised that there would be trials and trouble for those who follow Him. Paul referred to Christians as “Soldiers of Christ”. Because Satan has set himself against the Lord, it stands to reason that as a soldier of Christ, you are in the battle. You cannot be active in the battle and be seated on the sidelines. There are no couches on the front lines; only foxholes and fighters are found there.

David was not hiding and asking God to keep him safe. He understood there were battles in his life. Instead, David was praying and stepping out in faith. God wants to keep us and give us the victory. Sometimes, we think the worst thing that could happen is to fail. In Christianity, the worst thing is failing to try. God has declared victory in your life. Don’t argue with God about it…live it! Be victorious.

“Living a life of faith often can be battle itself, seek Jesus’s help immediately when the enemy is trying redirect your walk.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You asking for help to discern the lies of the enemy, especially when the enemy hides within all the strife and tension that he creates. Open my eyes to recognize any spirit of division or confusion as the enemy’s plan to divert me away from God will for my life. I submit my life to You. Help me to surrender to You in every way and choose to live according to Your word. Continue to teach me by reading and speaking Your Word so that it is implanted in my heart and becomes part of my daily life. I want to live in obedience to You in prayer, in praise, in worship, and in gratitude. Thank You, Lord, that You have given all who accept You in their hearts victory over all the plans of the enemy. Thank You that he has to flee from our lives when we expose his plans to the light. Thank You for the wisdom to identify the enemy’s work in our lives and the power to resist him. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for Your Word and the desire to use me as a vessel to bless others. Lord, empower me with boldness to put Your Kingdom first. I don’t want to just be a spectator in the battle. I want to see lives changed for Your glory. Help me to step out and be a kingdom builder.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

If you are reading these devotions and are not a follower of Jesus Christ, please be aware that these seeds of scripture are being sown in your heart right now… I am praying that they start to take root in your heart and you come to know personally the greatest truth you will ever hear.. January 3rd 2020 – Moments

“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.” (2 Kings 20:1)

What if God told you that you were going to die? People every day are informed by doctors and juries they have only years, months, days, or even moments left to live. Those could be moments of regret or moments of satisfaction… it all depends on what we ‘make’ of the moments God allots to us. Make? Yes, God has given to each one of us creativity, time, a sense of right and wrong, and free will. What we do with these raw materials is up to us. Most of us dole out the moments on frivolous, self-centered activities. Sometimes, it takes moments of shock to make us change course.

Do something for the Lord or do something for the world? The first is a path leading to satisfaction and the latter is a highway leading to regret. It has been said, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Life is much more than just a measure of our days. It is what we do for the Lord and that, my friend, will last forever. What if God told you that you were going to die? Well… He has.

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27)

What are you doing with your moments? Are they going to last?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Thank You for the moments You have given to me. Please forgive me for times when I have selfishly squandered those moments. Please give me the courage to make the most of the time and abilities You have given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 1st 2020 – A Fresh New Start

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)

How timely it is to stop and consider this verse today. As we are starting a brand new year, in like manner we have a fresh new start in our life for the Lord. What does the year hold for you? Well I can assure you that the Lord has some awesome things prepared for each of us individually and as well in the church body. This past year the Lord did some incredible things and I look forward to a new year filled with family and friends coming to know the Lord. We will see multitudes moved forward in the spiritual journey from discovery to discipleship. If you have not read the bible in its entirety, I challenage you to this year. We are seing almost on a daily basis the bible unfold and prophecy revealed right before our eyes.

Maybe some of us need a fresh start in this coming year. Here is a great opportunity to make a new commitment. We don’t know what the new year is going to bring. We don’t know what problems we are going to encounter. We don’t know what changes are going to come. We don’t know what blessings the Lord has in store for us. But whatever the new year holds, we don’t have to be afraid because Jesus Christ is going to be waiting there for us.

What an adventure! All made possible by a fresh start… Thanks Lord for new beginnings!

“Jesus makes all things new… including you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for fresh starts and new beginnings. What an incredible day this is with a brand new year’s potential stretched out before me. I want to be found faithful this year in each and every opportunity You bring to me. I also ask that my new years resolutions are not empty promises to myself that I don’t accomplish. . I will be praying on a daily basis for you to hold me accountable, ONE DAY AT A TIME. You are the best coach ever. I love you so much. Thank You, Lord, for new beginnings. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Ask Jesus into your heart this fresh new year.

My prayer is that we would not let our hearts stay hardened and that we would never forget that we are not in this alone. There is a A Heavenly Father named Jesus. He loves each of us and has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him forever. Please considder today asking Him into you life. Time is ticking away, and in a blink of an eye it will be too late.

December 31st 2019 – What If Tomorrow Was The End

“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,” (2 Peter 3:10-11)

What if I told you that tomorrow our world was coming to an end. What would become important to you? Would you seek to buy more stuff? Would you spend the time catching up on your favorite TV show? Most likely, you would spend time with those you love or even begin sharing Jesus with anyone you could find.

While it may not be tomorrow (even though it is possible), the bible shares with us that one day everything we know will change. There will be no more money to collect, or a career to build or earth to stand on. The only things that will remain are those things that are eternal.

While money may someday be burned up, when we give money to the Lord, it changes lives for eternity. On the same note, our careers will not last forever, but when we take the time to witness to a co-worker, we have just helped form a relationship that will last forever. God has created us to be eternal beings. Our greatest purpose is to love God and enjoy Him forever. What’s great about that is that we don’t have to wait to fulfill that purpose. As we start loving God and loving others, we begin sowing into eternal things and forever changing our world.

“As children of God we should live for the eternal not the temporal.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I was not created to simply occupy this world. You have greater things for me to do, things that will last for eternity. Open my eyes to opportunities to share Your love and grace with others so they can know about eternal life. Help me to look past this world so that I am inspired by the next. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have never accepted Gods grace you will never experience true peace in your life. Please read below, or  Click Here to learn how and what it means to ask Jeaus into your life . Don’t wait until its too late.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

Please take a moment to contact me, I would love to pray with you personally for this wonderful new journey you are on..

December 29th 2019 – Walk in Peace

“Forward to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”(Romans 8:6)

Who or what is controlling your life? To be carnally minded (self-centered) is death. To be spiritually minded (Christ-centered) is life and peace. According to Romans 8, when you are out of rest, you are not in the Spirit. Do you have peace? If you do not have peace, do not blame it on the world or others; the blame lies with you. When you surrender to God, you do not have to surrender to your flesh. Live the Spirit-led life and you will live according to God’s will and in God’s power.

Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!” (John 13:8-9)

Life, in its fullest, comes through being led by the Lord. Fellowship is broken with God when you sin. You are still His child, but sin is in the way. Confess your sin to Jesus and let Him wash you clean. Then, you will be able to enjoy His presence.

What are you living for? Your reason for living should be set apart from the rest of the world. If you live for the riches of the world, you may be alive in the body, but you are dead in your spirit. Live for God! As an heir to the riches in Christ, you will enjoy the fullness of joy that comes through walking in the calling of God.

“The way to walk in peace is to be spiritually and heavenly minded.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the awesome riches You have given me through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Please give me wisdom and discernment as I seek to follow after You. I want to walk in the joy and peace You have given me. Set me apart to do Your will for my life and help me to live a surrendered, Spirit-filled life. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
