October 11th 2018 – Pray

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

God is looking for a separate people, a people set apart unto Himself, a special people who will not get all caught up in the things of this world, but will be a treasure unto Him.  In this verse we see God talking to us and not to the evil ones in the world.  He is saying that “If my people”, that’s me and you.  We are the people of God and if we, the people of God, are doing things that are not pleasing to Him, then we need to change some stuff or we’re not going to see healing in our land.

If you read the book of Daniel, when he came to pray to God, he didn’t say that it is everybody else’s fault.  He said we have sinned.  He included himself in the sins of the nation, and here God is telling us to do the same thing.  Look again at what it says. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land”.

God is not looking for “perfect people”, but ones that would humble themselves, pray, seek Him and turn from their wicked ways. The amazing thing is that if we would do this, God will bring healing to our land.  So this verse shows us that we are responsible for what’s going on in the world. We need to do our part and if we do, God will do the rest.

So today, let’s take a few minutes and ask God, our dear Father, to show us things in our lives that He wants us to change.  Let’s be open to the voice of the Holy Spirit within us and make a decision to walk in His ways.  Not only will it bless us but it will bless a lost and hurting world.

“Prayer is the nearest approach to God and the highest enjoyment of Him that we are capable of in this life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, through Your Holy Spirit, reveal to me the things that are hindering me from being a blessing to this world. I lift up our country and pray that a spiritual revival of sweep across the United States and the farthest reaches of the Earth.. I do believe that this would happen if your people would pray. It all starts with us Lord, we need to share Your word and introduce them to You. May we give compassion and help to hurting. In Jesus Precious name, Amen.

October 10th 2018 – Early Riser

“I love those who love me; And those who seek me early and diligently will find me.” (Proverbs 8:17)

I wake up every morning knowing I need to spend time reading the Scripture and praying. But it’s so easy to jump into the details of my day without first taking time to be with the Lord.

Whenever I do that, when I start tackling the day without spending time with Him. I’m really saying that I can handle things on my own. I don’t need God.

Sometimes I get the sense that God may be saying, “You want to handle this day by yourself? Go ahead.” At best, it’s an empty, fruitless day lived for myself. And at worst, I end up in some big messes!

We need to learn from King David. Even though he was a busy leader, he made a point to spend his first of the day with God.

(Psalm 5:3) “O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice”

When I start the day by humbling myself and admitting that I can’t do things on my own, I can count on God to carry me through the day. Has He heard your voice today?

“Seek Him first”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me make time to seek You first every morning. I don’t want to continue have fruitless and empty days trying to do things on my own. May I seek Your devine guidance and counsel each morning. I praise and Love You, In Jesus’ name Amen.

October 8th 2018 – Cast Away Anxiousness

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:16)

I like the candor of Scripture. If the bible says “Don’t be anxious about anything,” we can be sure it’s because there are things that will cause us anxiety. This world is filled with evil, and it will touch our lives. Yet Scripture says, “Don’t be anxious.” Yes, there are things that cause anxiety, but anxiety doesn’t have to dominate us. How can that be? Because we are to give our anxieties to God with prayer and petition and thanksgiving, and then the peace of God will guard our hearts and our minds. God is the difference maker. Can you live your life apart from God? Certainly. But our thoughts and emotions are a battlefield, and when you invite God into your life He will fight that battle for you.

(1 Peter 5:7) “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

“When we filter our emotions through God’s Word, we will find peace, joy and the ability to persevere no matter the circumstance we face.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You asking for Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Holy Spirit, I ask for Your intervention into my thoughts when I am feeling anxious. Remind me that the Father has promised to guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 7th 2018 – Never Will I Leave You

“Never will I leave you; never will I abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5)

Life can sometimes be tough on people especially when someone feels alone. Maybe your children don’t call, or your far from home and miss your family. Maybe your still waiting on a husband or a wife,  or your mariage is in trouble and your seperated. Possibly you have lost a loved one.

Not everyone has the pleasure of having a family or a spouse. God provides for our needs, but He goes even further and provides us with His very presence. Jesus hasn’t forgotten about you. His name is Immanuel, which means “God with us.” Maybe your parents have forgotten about you. But God your Father has not forgotten about you.

One of the special benefits of having Jesus in your life is undoing loneliness. Jesus said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). From the original language, it literally reads something like this: “I will never, no never, no never leave you or forsake you.” That means, He is going to be with you in the happy days. He is going to be with you in the sad days. He is going to be with you on the hard days, the lonely days. He will be with you through all of your days. Then He will be waiting for you on the other side to welcome you into glory. You don’t have to be afraid, because God is with you.

I was recently asked by someone  “How do you get through the lonelyness and sadness if you have lost a loved one? Is there a book I can read?” My answer is that you don’t need a manual; you need Immanuel. You need to know that God is there. You need Jesus and need to lean into Him. That is the essential message that needs to be taught to the lost and lonely.

What we are longing for, deep down inside, is Jesus!

God is with us. He is here for you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sticking by me through good times and bad times. You are the true friend. Help me to seek You and  trust you and Your promise in these times. Please help me through the times of panic, the times when the loneliness is crippling and I cant breathe. Hold me close Jesus when I feel alone. Remind me that You are here and Love me when I am unable to see past the pain. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 4th 2018 – For God So Loved The World

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

One of the greatest verses in all of the Bible is John 3:16. It gives us the gospel in a nutshell. Let’s break it down:

“For God so loved . . .”

Many picture God as some kind of cranky old man out to ruin our lives. But the reality is that God loves you! He misses you. He wants a relationship with you. Look at the Lord in the garden after Adam’s fall, calling, “Adam, where are you?” (Genesis 3:9).

“the world . . .”

The world? That includes Those that would cause us harm. It includes criminals, adulterers, cheats, liars, even murderers.

The thief on the cross was probably a murderer or terrorist, but Jesus extended His loving forgiveness to him.

“He gave . . .”

We can talk about love all day long, but God demonstrated His love for us in a tangible way. Romans 5:8 says,” But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” and Romans 6:23 tells us that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus came to this world not to come down on people, but to reach out to people. While religion tells us what we must do to reach up to Heaven, God reaches down from Heaven in sending Jesus and pulling us off of the road leading to the depths of hell.

“His only begotten Son . . .”

This does not mean “one of many,” It means “His one and only Son” or “the only Son of His kind or class, unique in kind.”

“that whosoever believes . . .”

To “believe” does not merely mean you intellectually accept something to be true. The Bible says, “Even the demons believe and tremble!” (James 2:19). To believe is to “adhere to, commit to, have faith in, rely upon, trust in.” The choice is ours as to what we will do with this wonderful gift of God. We can gladly accept it, or reject it. If someone offers you a gift, you either take it or you don’t. You can’t say, “I’m neutral on this. I can’t decide.”

“should not perish . . .”

Revelation 20:15 says, “Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”. If you are included in the “whosoever” of John 3:16, you won’t be included in the “whosoever” described in Revelation 20:15.

“but have everlasting life. . .”

Not “hope to have,” but “have.” It becomes the immediate possession of the child of God. 1 John 5:13 says,

“I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.”

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God”.

Jesus will receive and reveal Himself to any person who will come to Him honestly, heart to heart. Jesus said, “He that comes to me I will in no way cast out”

“However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.” (John 6:37)

The Maker of all creation gave to us. He did not give to us because we were worth it or because we had something to offer. He gave because He loved. The moment God became flesh was the most perfect act of love in history. Jesus left the glories of heaven and the throne of His Father and came into the tiny town of Bethlehem as a baby. With this act, God declared to all of humanity, “You are not alone.” Jesus did not come into Bethlehem bringing condemnation. He came so that He could give His life so that our sins could be forgiven. This is the greatest gift you will ever receive, but like all gifts you must open it first.

“Jesus came to save and forgive anyone who believes in Him, not to condemn them.”

” Jesus will receive and reveal Himself to any person who will come to Him honestly.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You God for Your precious gift. Thank You for sending Jesus into our world so that we can have hope. I understand that it’s because of His life, death, and resurrection that I can be forgiven of all that I’ve done. Father, help me to keep this as my focus and give me the boldness to share this good news with others so that they may come to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Seeking Jesus in your life?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

October 3rd 2018 – You Are Loved!

“I will call them My people, who were not My people, And her beloved, who was not beloved. And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people,’ There they shall be called sons of the living God.” (Romans 9:25-26)

Paul is pulling verses from the book of Hosea, a “minor prophet”, with a major league message. Hosea was guided by God to marry a prostitute named Gomer. She left the lifestyle; they grew in love and established a family. Soon, though, she returned to her former practice. Time and again, she would come back to Hosea only to abandon him for another. One day she chose not to return. Hosea searched high and low and when he found her, she was for sale in a slave market. In an outpouring of his undying love, Hosea paid the price and purchased her back. It is an incredible story of unfaltering love and loyalty and is an eloquent rendering of God’s never-ending love even when His people turn to idols.

(1 John 4:16) “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.”

God sees our faults and loves us. He finds us slaves of sin and frees us. When we go back to the chains, Jesus doesn’t turn His back, but holds out His pierced hands. “I love you, and I miss you.” Friend, have you wandered off? God’s heart for you is restoration and love. What will you do?

“God is love. You are loved.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Lord, at times, I will admit I feel like a slave to my sins. Thank You for looking past my faults and freeing me of my sins. When I see the faults of others, remind me to examine them with Your unfaltering love and loyalty toward them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 30th 2018 – How Jesus See’s You

“Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town.  There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd.  (Luke 19:1-2)

According to the world’s standards for evaluating worth, Zacchaeus was a failure. He was extremely short; he was disliked by everyone because he was a tax collector; and he even hated himself.

He was not proud of what he had achieved in life because he knew he had cheated people to get where he was. He was powerful and had a lot of money, but he absolutely had no friends and was incredibly lonely.

But one day Zacchaeus’ life was completely changed because Jesus walked by and wanted to spend time with him, he realized how much he mattered to God.

When Zacchaeus learned that Jesus was coming to town, he wanted to see him, but he was too short to get a glimpse above the crowd.

“So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way. When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.”” (Luke 19:3-5)

That very moment when Jesus looked up and noticed Zacchaeus. Can you imagine how Zacchaeus’ felt? Did his heart start pounding, did he experiance butterflies deep in his stomach? Jesus was looking right at him, a small, despised, insignificant man.

Why did Jesus stop at that tree and look at him? Because He knew that’s exactly where Zacchaeus was.

God knows exactly where you are too. He knew where you were a week ago and he knows where you now and even where you will be tomorrow. You may feel like you’re stuck in a tree right now in your life. God knows where you are. You may feel like you’re out on a limb, Jesus knows. You may feel all alone, but Jesus stops and notices. You are not forgotten, you are not alone.

No tear has ever been hidden from Him. No hurtful word said to you has ever passed that he missed. No abuse has ever occurred that he didn’t see and grieve with you. He sees it all.

What is the price of five sparrows, two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7)

The greatest gift of love anyone can ever receive is attention. When you give people your time, you give them your life. When you pay attention to someone and look them in the eye, you are saying, “You matter to me. You are valuable.”

There is never a moment, never a second in your life that God is not paying attention to you. He notices you 24 hours a day because he loves you; you are valuable to him.

Don’t forget to call your loved ones this Thanksgiving holiday and  spend some time and let them know they matter to you. Make amends to the ones you may need to, and brighten the day of someone that wouldn’t expect you to call. Let them know that they matter and you still care.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the always noticing me no matter how insignificant I may feel in the world, how lonely I may be because family doesnt call or how screwed up I may get. Today I come to You with nothing but empty hands and a heart that desires more of You. Please Lord, take my life and do with it as you please. I trust You and desire to glorify Your name in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 27th 2018 – Rightly Dividing God’s Word

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

To rightly the divide the Word of God it takes times of reading it, meditating on it, and also studying it.  Each way opens up the truth of the Word.  I look at the Word of God like a miner seeking for gold. Yes, he might get lucky and find some on the top, but most gold takes a lot of digging and working.

When we open our Bibles and start reading it, sometimes things can jump right off of the page and we are amazed and we get all excited.  But there are other times that we read the Word and nothing really hits us.  That’s when we need to ponder and chew on it for a while.  Do it during the course of the day.

You might say, how do I do that? Here, let me show you a couple of different ways.  When you find a verse that speaks to you write it down or put it on the wallpaper on your phone, then, throughout the day look at it, say it a few times and think about what it’s saying to you personally.

Before I got a Smartphone, I used to write scriptures on 3 by 5 cards and carry them with me, or hang them in places I would go, like a mirror, or on the door of the fridge.  Be creative and you will see that you will be digging up nuggets before you know it. His Word will be rightly divided in your life and you will be used for the kingdom of God, who is not ashamed.

“One who uses the Bible as his guide never loses his sense of direction”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Starting today, I’m going to be a doer and a digger of the Word.  I’m going to let the Your Holy Word have first place in my life and study it so that I can rightly divide it and not be ashamed. I also ask that you allow me to experience Your word visually while reading and meditating on it. Give me insight and understanding on the scriptures. We ask this in Jesus precious name. Amen.

September 18th 2018 – I’m Here With You

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” (John 20:15)

Jesus asked two very insightful questions of Mary at this point: “Why are you weeping?” and “Whom are you seeking?” Often in life, we find ourselves in a place where we feel like crying and other times find ourselves in tears. Jesus sees those tears and wants to dry them… if we will let Him.

We need to allow Jesus, sometimes through the hands and wisdom of others, to tend to our tears. Whatever the circumstance, life threatening Illness, brokeness of a marriage or loss of a loved one, spouse or child. Jesus is the answer to our pain..He will comfort us.

Sometimes though, we become strangely comfortable with pain and sadness. They become almost like old familiar friends. Jesus wants to be the better friend. For some, it may mean breaking a cycle long established and for others, it may mean coming out of a short season of pain.

Seek Jesus. Realize that in the midst of trial, trouble, turmoil and temptation, He is there with you. You may need to turn around to face Him. He wants to pull you out of your problems and liberate you from sadness, but before He does, He wants to walk with you through the valley. Even when you are in the valley of the shadow of death, He is there. May you know He is there to dry your tears, lighten your load and be a closer friend than any you have ever known. Loved one, right now take a few minutes out of your busy day and turn to Him. You will be glad you did. And so will He.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sticking by me through good times and bad times. You are the true friend. Sometimes, I become content to wallow in self pity. Please forgive me for that and humble me to allow You, through the hands of others, to comfort and even challenge me to trust you and Your promise. Please help me through the times of panic, the times when the pain is crippling and I cant breathe. Hold me close Jesus when I feel all alone. Remind me that You are here and Love me when I am unable to see past the pain. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 14th 2018 -Door Blocked, Try the Roof!

“I know all the things you do, and I have opened a door for you that no one can close. You have little strength, yet you obeyed my word and did not deny me.” (Revelation 3:8)

Know this: it’s not always easy to bring people to Jesus.

Don’t expect them to stand and cheer for you in Hell when you bring your friends and family to Jesus. Expect and prepare for radical satanic opposition! You must be prepared for the difficulties, and be ready to overcome them. No half-hearted attempts will succeed.

In Mark 9 there was a man who brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus “So they brought the boy. But when the evil spirit saw Jesus, it threw the child into a violent convulsion, and he fell to the ground, writhing and foaming at the mouth.” (Mark 9:20) In the same way, the devil will throw a fit when we try to bring our friends to Jesus!

That man got his son to Jesus and Jesus delivered that boy. The truth is that we must do all we can to get others to Jesus. I have actually encountered churches where they will deliver a message often leading up to salvation but never offer an invitation to accept Jesus.. Honestly, these are the lukewarm churches that Jesus speaks about in Revelations. If this is the case in your church, speak up, ask why.

The ministry of bringing others to Jesus is so important that when it seems you can’t find a way, you can often make one! Seize the moment!

In Luke 5, we read about some friends of a paralyzed man who brought him to Jesus. Now it would have been great if they could just have come through a door. That is the normal way to enter a house, but the entrance was blocked.

There’s a popular english saying about “open and closed doors” when it comes to life’s circumstances. We will things like, “I tried this or that, but the Lord did not open the door!” This is a biblical phrase, the apostle Paul spoke of an open door to preach the gospel also in the book of Revelation, Jesus said to the church of Philadelphia, “I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it” (Revelation 3:8).

But so often we use the idea of a “closed door” as an excuse. So the door was not open? Did you try getting in through the roof? That’s what these men did! “They went up on the rooftop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus” (Luke 5:19).

“If the door is blocked, try the Roof! It literally is a “Life or Death” situation.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You that in Your vastness as creator of the heavens and earth, You desire to know me. You call me to share with others. Lord, give me the mind of Christ so that I may see You and myself more clearly than I ever have. In Your grace and mercy, I am comforted to know that You have offered me forgiveness. Empower me the with a passion to tell others about You so I can reveal Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
