September 10th 2019 – Incomprehensible Love

“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them, Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I am awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18)

Have you ever tried to count the grains of sand on the seashore? For those of you who may have tried, you now know it is absolutely impossible! There are so many in just a scoop of your hand that it becomes incomprehensible to think that we could even begin to count them.

In this scripture verse, the psalmist tells us that God’s thoughts toward us even outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore! What imagery. The Father, who created you and who numbered all your days, is thinking about you all the time. He never stops thinking about you…And they are not thoughts of condemnation and judgement, but thoughts of absolute love and adoration. How precious are His thoughts toward us.

In our limited understanding, this is just too good to be true…but it is true. God is thinking about you right now!

“Jesus thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, it amazes me that your thoughts toward me outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. And your thoughts towards me are loving thoughts! I pray that I might be able to receive this truth into my heart, so that I might be able to simply respond with loving thoughts back to you. I thank You for your sacrifice of your Son Jesus, it was the ultimate expression of Your love for us. Please forgive us for the times when we have questioned your love for us. I believe that You love us and have demonstrated that love once and for all through the cross. I pray that the truth of Your love for us will be the bedrock of my faith even during the times when I don’t feel loved. Wash me clean and use me for Your kingdom today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 8th 2019 – Don’t Let Sin Be Your Master

“Then the king of Egypt made Jehoahaz’s brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him off to Egypt.” (2 Chronicles 36:4)

Throughout the Bible, we see Egypt presented as a picture of sin. It was a land of great wealth and power, but to Israel, it was a land of captivity and bondage. As Christians, we live in a world that is like biblical Egypt. The world desires to see us in bondage to its system. Whether you call it the “rat race” or “keeping up with the Joneses”, the world system will only leave you wanting more. We need to get off that road because it’s headed nowhere except over a cliff.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 2:5)

Instead of letting the world dictate our life, turn from the things and people that cause you to sin. We need to let God have control. Let the Word of God go into your eyes, your ears, your brain and your heart so that it will begin changing you from the inside out. Don’t be fooled by the “riches” of Egypt, rather experience the true riches of God.

“Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” (Romans 6:14)

“Change the way you think, and you change the way you live.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Give me eyes to see and a heart to receive Your Word. Help me to overcome the worldly way of thinking and instead begin thinking like Jesus. I pray that today would be the day that I change my life by walking in obedience to You. Help me to seperate myself from sin, from the things and people that cause me to sin. Seperate me noise and be still and quiet as Jesus often did. I trust You and am so greatful for all that You do in my life. I Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

September 6th 2019 – Fear No Evil

“though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4)

We see in all of these verses so far that the Shepherd leads, guides, helps, and loves us. Now, in this verse, it changes from the Shepherd’s actions and love for us, to our own actions.  You see, in life there are going to be times when we don’t listen so that we get ourselves in places we shouldn’t be.  Here it’s called “the valley of the shadow of death”.

Have you ever had times like that?  You find that the grass isn’t green and the stream is dirty and you say, “how did I get here?”  You see that it was through your own decisions, or you didn’t take the time to listen to the Shepherd’s voice, that you opened doors that should have stayed shut.

Even in these times, even when we mess up, the Great Shepherd doesn’t leave us.  No! He promised us that He would never leave us or forsake us. Never means never and here we see the same promise.  I will fear no evil, why? His written word “FOR YOU ARE WITH ME!” What a promise.  When we mess up, we need to ‘fess up and He, the Great Shepherd, forgives and restores.

Even when we open doors to the evil one, our Shepherd takes out His mighty rod and grabs hold of us with His wonderful staff and brings great comfort to our lives. What security, what comfort, what hope we have because of our amazing Jesus.

So take heart today that there is no sin too strong that the blood of Jesus can’t wash away. Rest in His loving arms and hear His heartbeat as you lay your head upon His chest. Know that He loves you and will always protect you against anything that the enemy might bring against you.  He’ll even protect you when you open a door that you shouldn’t have.

“Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as you Lord and Savior, He will never leave you or forsake you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the blood of Jesus that has washed me white as snow.  I thank You that no matter what comes against me or even when I’m walking in the valley, You are there to comfort and to restore.  What a God I serve. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen..

Don’t walk the the valley alone, choose Jesus..

September 3rd 2019 – Share you Testimony

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (Matthew 5:14-15)

One of the most important parts of carrying the Cross / being a disciple of Jesus is testifying what the Lord has done in our lives. We need to do it not because the Lord needs us to glorify Him and praise Him. It has the same reason why the Israelites were told to keep a pot of Manna in the Ark of Covenant / Testimonies.

The Lord asked them to keep some Manna in a golden pot in the Ark; the same Manna which fell every day (except for the Sabbath days), would usually go bad within a day, never spoiled when kept in the Ark for years. The Manna reminded them of the promise which the Lord gave with regards to provide for them till they entered the promise land.

Our testimonies are like the Manna kept in that precious pot which we hold within us. We need these testimonies to be kept fresh always within us so as to remind ourselves the promise the Lord has given us of providing for us until we enter our Promise Land which is Heaven.

Sharing our testimonies does encourage others but more than that by sharing it we encourage ourselves.

So all that the gracious Lord has done for you in your life keep it in your heart and do open your mouth and share it with others. By doing this you are not doing a favor unto others or to God but to your own self.

“The unbelieving world should see our testimony lived out daily because it just may point them to the Savior.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You are God and all things are known unto You. You created everything and You also created man. You knew the strength and weakness of man, therefore gave us the Book of Instruction so as to guide us in our walk back unto You after being led astray. Lord, help us keep our weak hearts strong with all the glorious things which You have done for this unworthy me. Help us remember always and open our mouth and share it with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

September 2nd 2019 – For I am your provider

“So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat or What shall we drink or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:31-33 31)

One of the biggest causes of stress in our lives is the pressure we put on ourselves for daily provision. We work hard to provide for the necessities of life and can be anxious about our future. Will there be a recession? Will I still have a job? What about the mortgage? All of these questions are valid, but Jesus tells us that we don’t have to worry about all these things, because our Father in heaven knows what we need and wants to provide for us.

All we have to do is to have faith like little children, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness trusting that Father will care for us as He promised. My children have never worried about the mortgage. As teenagers, they were only beginning to understand the dynamics of our household budget. They have trusted that there will always be food on the table, a bed to sleep in, and clothes to wear. They had confidence that their father (me) would provide all of their needs and more.

They did not need to carry these kind of responsibilities on their shoulders because that was my job as their parent.

Now as grown adults with children of their own, they need to have childlike faith of their own to trust in the Lords provisions for their own lives. God wants us to become very little, so He can be very big in our lives. We don’t have to worry and strive about what we are going to eat, what we are going to wear, and where we are going to sleep. We have a Heavenly Father who has promised to look after all the details of our life. If He cares for the sparrows, who neither sow or reap or store into barns, how much more will He look after His own children!

“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!” (Luke 12:24)

“For I am your provider and I meet all your needs.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father forgive me for the times that I worry about provisions in  my life. I confess that I have been anxious about many things. I know that You promised to provide everything I need because You are my Father. Help me to trust You with today’s provision and leave tomorrow’s needs in Your care. I want to seek You first today. I want to spend my time in relationship with You, trusting that all I need will be provided at the right time by my loving Heavenly Father. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus’ I pray, Amen.

Your Heavenly father loves you so very much! He wants to have a personal relationship with you.

August 31st 2019 – Close to His Heart

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” (Isaiah 40:11)

There are many illustrations in the Bible that speak of God’s desire for intimacy with mankind. This is one of my most favorite visual images! God uses an illustration of a loving shepherd to demonstrate how He feels about us.

Just for a moment, shut out the world around you and close your eyes. Try and visualize what God is saying through this picture with the eyes of your heart. Can you see the loving shepherd, gently picking up His little lambs in his big strong arms? Can you see the look on the shepherd’s face as He lovingly gazes down into the eyes of each lamb held close to His chest? What a picture of intimacy and safety.

There is no other place that these lambs would rather be at that moment in time. Their shepherd cares for them and has vowed to lay his life down for their protection. He has truly won their hearts. God wants us to know, that this is how He wants to relate to you and I. He is our shepherd and He wants to pick us up in His big strong arms and hold us tightly to His chest that we might feel the beating of His heart.

Can you be a little lamb who needs to be picked up and held? If you can, you will find a place of safety and rest that is better than anything you have ever experienced. If not you need to ask Jesus into your heart.

As a shepherd carries a lamb,  Jesus carries you close to His heart.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I ask that You would pick me up and gather me in Your big strong arms. I want to hear the beating of Your heart and to feel the warmth and safety of Your embrace. I know that You have made a special place reserved just for me. You are the Great Shepherd, and I am just a little lamb who needs to be held. Thank You for holding me close to Your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

August 28th 2019 – God’s Got Your Back

“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

Many times when we are feeling discouraged, it is as if the whole world is against us. It is like we are swimming upstream, constantly fighting a powerful current that seems to be pushing us downstream despite all our efforts. It can be a frustrating experience to feel that we are going one way and everyone else is going in another direction.

The reality is that in the world we live in, we will find many people and obstacles that will seem to be in direct opposition to where we are going. This can be a very discouraging and lonely reality unless we take Romans 8:31 to heart.

The truth is that God is for us, not against us. Not only is He on our side but He is in our corner cheering us on as He plans great things for our lives.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)

If we can grasp the truth of our Father’s heart towards us, it will not matter who is opposing us or what is standing in our way! For we will be confident that our Heavenly Fatheris the biggest, strongest, most loving person in the universe and has declared to the heavens that He is for us! What will you say in response to this declaration?

“God is love, He loves us and He pursues us with that love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for being for me and not against me. I believe that Your love causes all things to work together for my good. I renounce every lie that says that You are against me and not for me. Jesus demonstrated Your love for me and has convinced me of Your unfailing acceptance and affection. I thank You that I will be forever Your child. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen…

August 21st 2019 – Unconditional Love

“I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” (2 John 1:5-6)

Saying the words “I love you” is easy, but how many people do you love so deeply that you expect nothing in return from them.

Love is unending; love is not selfish because it asks for nothing in return; love is unmerited because it is not deserved; love is unconditional because it is not based on actions; and it is from God because it is not something that can be done in your own strength.

God loved you so much that even knowing you would turn away and very possibly never return His love, He still sent His one and only son to die for you.

Once you accept and understand this concept of love, you can grow into who God created you to be. How do you do this? By allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you, relying on the Word of God, and applying it your heart.

Then there will be a new life, new desires, new nature and a new heart.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)

This unconditional love, when you understand it, will inspire you to respond to others in the same way. Love without expectation just as God did for you.

Unconditional love is not always easy. Loving another person when they can be hateful or mean to you can be difficult, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love.

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Who are you struggling to love? Take the situation to the Lord and then look for an opportunity to show God’s love to that person. You’ll be amazed at what God will do!

“In growth and maturity, unconditional love is the test. Even the unbeliever loves when all is going well.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the love You have shown me. I know there have been times I have not loved others like I should, and I ask for Your forgiveness. Help me to show the same kind of unconditional love You have shown me because I desire to love You and to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 20th 2019 – Brand New Day

“Dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”(Philippians 3:13-14)

I once heard a story about a man who was slowly losing his memory. After a lengthy examination, the doctor said that a risky operation on his brain might reverse his condition and restore his memory. However, the surgery would be so delicate that a nerve could be severed, causing total blindness.

The surgeon asked, “So, which would you rather have, your sight or your memory?” The man pondered the question for a while and replied, “My sight, because I would rather see where I am going than remember where I have been.”

Our enemy is always trying to dig up the past and keep us all bound up in our failures. Instead of focusing on what was, lets see what God’s Word has to say about it.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Four Things You Must Do For a Fresh Start to Occur:

(1) Forget the former things. It will only weigh you down and keep you from where you are going.

(2) Do not dwell on the past. This just jumbles your mind with garbage. There’s no room for garbage when making a fresh start.

(3) Acknowledge the fresh start is a gift from God. He’s doing a new thing in you. “Do you not perceive it,” we are asked. Don’t miss it.Trust God. He’s making a new way for you. Haven’t you done it your way enough?

(4) Trust Him. Not for a quick fix, but in making a “new way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Be Encouraged! Today is a new day! Today and every day we have a choice to make! Like Paul, we must choose to press forward and put aside our past. We must purpose to keep our eyes on the Lord, not on our successes or failures, but upon on what can we do for Him today!

“Celebrate the new day with shouts of praise, love and grace and with a beautiful smile upon your face.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, the stars and the seas declare Your goodness and love. By Your Holy Spirit, help us do the same. Open my heart and my eyes to see You Lord while observing creation all around me. We place today in Your hands and trust You to direct my day until I place my head back onto our pillows to sleep.. Thank you for Your presence in my life. I love You. Thank You for my family and my friends.  In Jesus’ precious and glorious name I pray, Amen.

Trying to face a life without Jesus will get very overwhelming.  If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. August 19th 2019 – Jesus Paid the Price, Come to Jesus and be Free!

“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Receive the gift from the captives-from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon-and go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah.” (Zechariah 6:9-10)

Whether we realize it or not, we have all been captives at one point or another. In fact, many still are. This doesn’t mean that we are prisoners of war or slaves to some regime, but rather we are all born as slaves to our own sin.

“Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” (John 8:34-35)

Being a slave to sin is dangerous because many times those who are in chains do not realize it, and in some cases they even love their captivity. This self-deception leads to a life of pain and heartache – but there is hope. Jesus Christ came into this world to proclaim freedom to those who are captive to sin. As He took His last breathe on the cross, the chains of sin that held so many down were rendered powerless. Now, if we would simply come to Jesus seeking His forgiveness and the freedom He offers, He will give us the key to unlock our chains and the power to live an abundant life.

“God desires to free you from your sin and give you an abundant life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have been held captive by my sins. Father, forgive me of all these things and release me from my chains. I believe that Jesus is the key to freedom, and I trust in His payment for my sins on the cross. Fill me with Your Spirit and use me to share the key to freedom with others. Please set me free from the Slavery of Sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Put your faith and trust in Jesus! If you do not know him personally please read below.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

!If you have read this prayer and believed in your heart, then congratulations!

(Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Savior the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.
