October 14th 2019 – The Voice of God

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21)

The sweetest sound in the entire world is the sound of our Father’s voice.  When God our Father spoke in days passed things happened, the world and the universe were created.  All of life that crawls on the earth, under the earth, in the sky, and in the water was created by His Word.

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

What an amazing statement that the Creator made all that is visible by a Word.  The reason I bring this out is that He who has all this power in His voice, in His Words, speaks to us.  He wants to speak with us.  He wants to share His heart and help and guide us each and every day of our lives.  What assurance we have of our loving Father directing and guiding us as we listen to His voice speaking to us this day.

God is not silent.  I believe that He is constantly talking to our hearts, but many times we’re just to busy to listen and we miss out.  You know if I have a radio and I have it on the wrong station, then no matter what I do, I’m not going to hear what I want to hear, unless I take the time to adjust the station.

So many times in our lives we just need little adjustments to hear what the Father wants to say to our hearts.  I believe that if we will take the time to listen it could save us so many heartaches that we go through.

So take some time today and listen to what He wants to say to you. Listen to that still small voice speaking to your heart.  He will never let you down.  He is always there for you.

“Our priorities should be: recognizing the voice of God and responding to the voice of God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Today I will listen to your voice as you guide me to go right or to go left. Father God you always have my best interest in mind. I trust you, and  can be rest assured that You will guide me for good this day. Thank you for allowing us to Hear Your Voice. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

October 11th 2019 – A Divine Purpose

“I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must turn from their sins and turn to God–and prove they have changed by the good things they do.” (Acts 26:20)

We often describe our Christian walk by the things we don’t do. We may say things like, we don’t drink or do drugs, we don’t gamble or use foul language. In fact, for some of us, not doing these things is an incredible testimony of God’s supernatural work in our lives. But we should also consider the things that we do.

In (Matthew 22:37-40) Jesus told us that we should love God and love others. You are not an accident; you were created with a divine purpose to be a blessing to others. You were created to hear the call, respond and be fruitful. In short, you were created to help God change the world. We know the things we shouldn’t do because we would be ashamed of them. But why are we not ashamed of the things we don’t do? Jesus called the man who did not use his talent wicked and lazy. If you fail to do something, you choose to fail at God’s plan for your life.

“This is faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” (James 2:17-18)

“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matthew 5:13)

Please take a moment and reflect. What are you doing to spread Gods love?

“It is what we ‘do’ that shows we are followers of Jesus, as well as what we ‘don’t’ do.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I love You and want to serve You by serving others. Please give me eyes to see where and how I may be a blessing to others. Give me love for those around me. Please forgive me for times when I’ve done nothing. Please forgive me for not always being a good witness to Your presence in my life. Help me be the Salt and the light! I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 1st 2019 – Love Song

I am continually amazed and grateful for the many ways God demonstrates His love to us. During my devotional time, I began to make a list of them and want to share them with you. I pray that you’ll be blessed as you are reminded of His great love.

He does not change. “I the Lord do not change” (Malachi 3:6)

His love is always sure. Seasons change, people change, the world is changing, but God never changes. We can rely on Him.

“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” (Psalm 36:5)

He is faithful. God is not moody or fickle. We are. People will love you for a while and then they don’t. But God is not like that. He sticks with you.

Whenever He asks us to obey Him, He also provides everything we need.”

“You can trust the One who calls you to do that for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

He is our protector. He is our shield. Our “always there” protector.

“So our hope is in the Lord. He is our help, our shield to protect us.” (Psalm 33:20)

It is so comforting to know that everything that comes our way has to go through “the shield around us” before it touches us.

He is always thinking about us.

“How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many thoughts turn towards me.” (Psalm 139:17)

This is one of the neatest things. When you think about it–there are over 6 billion people in the world and He still thinks of you and me constantly. He is able to give us His undivided attention.

He is always with you. For He Himself has said,

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

He is never to busy for us. He never goes away, or takes breaks or a vacation.

When we are in trouble and think we are going under, we can be encouraged because,

“Underneath are His everlasting arms.” (Deuteronomy 33:27)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the amazing love You have shown me. Help me to grasp this love so that I will be equipped to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. We are so grateful for Your presence and direction in our lives.  Thank you, for loving and caring for us so much. Help us to love You more than we could ever comprehend. Thank you for your written word, the Bible is your love song. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Love will find a way. A lack of love will find an excuse.”

Don’t have Jesus in your life? Don’t put off Experiencing His Ultimate Love now.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that He answered your prayer.

September 30th 2019 – When Jesus Prayed

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” (Luke 6:12)

The Majesty of heaven, while engaged in His earthly ministry, was often in earnest prayer. Frequently He spent the entire night praying. His spirit was sorrowful as He felt the power of the darkness of this world, and He left the busy city and the noisy areas to seek a quiet place for intercession with His Father. The Mount of Olives was the favorite resort of Jesus. Frequently, after the multitude had left Him for the retirement of the night, He rested not though weary with the labors of the day. . . . While the city was hushed in silence and His disciples had retired to obtain refreshment in sleep, His divine pleadings were ascending to His Father from the Mount of Olives, that His disciples might be kept from the evil influences which they would daily encounter in the world, and that His own soul might be strengthened and braced for the duties and trials of the coming day. All night, while His followers were sleeping, was their divine Teacher praying, while the dew and frost of night fell upon His bowed head. . . .

The example of Christ is left on record for His followers. Jesus was Himself a source of blessing and strength. He could heal the sick and raise the dead; He commanded even the tempests, and they obeyed Him; He was unsullied with corruption, a stranger to sin; yet He endured agony which required help and support from His Father, and He prayed often with strong crying and tears. He prayed for His disciples and for Himself, thus identifying Himself with the needs, the weaknesses, and the failings which are common to humanity. He was a mighty petitioner, not possessing the passions of our human, fallen natures, but compassed with like infirmities, tempted in all points even as we are. . . .

Christ, our Example, turned to His Father in these hours of distress. He came to earth that He might provide a way whereby we could find grace and strength to help in every time of need by following His example in frequent, earnest prayer.

“Our prayer life shouldn’t be relegated to just crisis control. It’s meant to be consistent communion and connection with Christ.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You gave us the loving Heart of your own beloved Son, because of the boundless love by which You have loved us, which no tongue can describe. May we render You a love that is perfect with hearts made one with Yours. Please give me the grace to make and keep time set aside to worship, connect, and dialogue with You in prayer. Please forgive me when I push aside that time and donít take it seriously. Help me to hear from You according to Your word and allow You to speak into my life that I might commune with You always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 29th 2019 – Shaken But Not Forsaken

“How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me? (Psalm 13:1-2)

At the beginning of Psalm 13 David feels that God has forsaken him. Has that ever happened to you? Do you let your problems make you despondent, discouraged, and disillusioned? Honestly, that couldn’t be further from the truth for those of us that have received the salvation of the Lord. We see David acknowledging this as he continues…

“But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5-6)

You see, when we accepted the sacrifice of Christ we received the forgiveness of sins and the promise that we’d never be forsaken by God. Jesus ultimately experienced separation from Father God for the first time on that cross on our behalf when He cried out “my God my God why have you forsaken me?” Now, once we realize in our heads and hearts this reality, our trust in His mercy causes us to rejoice in our salvation! Our eyes can now be enlightened by the Spirit of God to see how rich we truly are in Christ. Count those blessings friend and allow the Lord to encourage you with all He has done for you!

“Sometimes we forget what we should we remember, (the good done by someone, by others, sometimes by us) and remember what we should forget (the wrongs done by someone, by others, sometimes by us).”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for enduring all things for me on the cross. Thank You for never leaving or forsaking me. Please give me the power to remember the blessings that You have poured out into my life through Christ and help me to walk after You with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 28th 2019 – God’s Family

“But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.” (Galatians 1:11)

The Gospel changes everything. Not only does it change us, but it also unites us with other believers. Many of the differences that may have divided us before, fall away because of the love of Christ. This is why it is so important to meet together locally at church, and personally with each other. When we grow in unity with one another, it blesses our life and is a great picture to our community.

Where does this unity come from exactly? Well, we believe similar things, we share close to the same value system in love God, love people. In addition, we believe God created the earth and sky. Many people may think we are different because we have different skin colors, ways of dressing or ways of making a living? Unity may even be dependent on whether or not we have ink or tattoos on our body? But no matter what you look like or how you may have been raised in Jesus, we are called “one body”. As the body of Christ, we are a family that seeks to love unconditionally no matter how different we may be.

“When we meet together, we encourage each other with acts of love and fellowship..”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the church. Thank You for bringing me together with brothers and sisters in Christ. While I know I am not perfect, help me to love others equally and to encourage others no matter the differences. In You, the church is united. Please help me to remember that no matter what. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 26th 2019 – Your Body, His Temple

“I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

“When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and are baptized you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). God’s Spirit actually makes it’s dwelling inside of you. You then become a “temple” designed for the worship of our God. It is a sanctuary for service in His Kingdom.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Above the Apostle Paul tells us that our bodies ARE the temple of the Holy Spirit. Paul was talking about sexual immorality when he wrote that verse to the Christians of Corinth. But the verse has a broader meaning. It means you don’t want to mess up the temple with hidden sins of any kind. It means that you don’t want to desecrate the temple with any foreign substances like tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or overeating. It means we want it to look nice so we take care of it by cleaning it, clothing it modestly, and making it presentable. It means that we take everything out that prevents us from serving and worshiping God and honoring him.

So let’s do our best to take care of the bodies that God gave us, let’s make a comfortable place for the Spirit to live, work and guide us.

“Our bodies were created in the image of God. They are a gift from our heavenly father to allow us to experience mortality and to strive to become more like Him. This knowledge should influence the way we treat our bodies, how we feel about the Heavenly Father and ourselves.  When we treat our bodies as a Temple of God, we can attain physical, emotional and spiritual blessings.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise your Holy Name. My life is yours…a temple for your Spirit… a place of worship 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Please help me to clean up and make it a presentable and fit place for service in your kingdom. Thank You for the precious gift of salvation. Thank You for making a way for me to be cleansed of all my sins. Lord, if I have sinned against You or defiled my body today, forgive me and help me live for You in all I do. Father, I stand on Your Truth in 1 John 1:9 that says if I confess my sins, You will cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Wash me clean and use me for Your kingdom today. I pray these things in the name of your Son and my Savior, Jesus. Amen.

September 25th 2019 – Unlimited Resource

“He who scatters has come up before your face. Man the fort! Watch the road! Strengthen your flanks! Fortify your power mightily.” (Nahum 2:1)

Tests and trials are a part of life and often push us to our limits in so many ways. During these times, what do you turn to? Do you first run to others seeking those who feel the same way you do? Do you find yourself to be anxious because you are constantly looking down the road of life waiting for the next attack? Maybe you run to your money or addiction to seek answers or comfort. Whatever the case may be, the truth is, when we do not run to God first, we will not last long.

As followers of Christ, we have the unlimited resource of wisdom and power available to anyone. He is our Father God and He desires to help us in times of need. We may be able to limp along on our own wisdom and strength for a time, but when we trust in the Lord’s strength and His infinite wisdom, we will never grow weary. Today you will encounter difficult situations. Don’t be surprised by them but simply use them as an excuse to draw closer to God. Need wisdom? Ask the Father. Desire strength? Find it in Jesus.

“When you aew faced with a problem, seek God first before relying on your own wisdom or strength.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your generous love for me. I am so grateful that I can run to You in times of need and You will hear my cry. Father, I ask for Your strength and wisdom today. No matter where I find myself I ask that You would guide my steps and use me for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

September 21st 2019 – Jesus Is My Friend

“Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. With them alone He shares the secrets of His promises.” (Psalms 25:14)

As children we used to run around and say, “I know a secret, I know a secret!” Well God has special things that He holds for special people. Our Father wants to reveal them to those whose hearts are right with Him. You see a secret is shared with close friends.  I don’t go and share my inner thoughts with just anybody, No, I share them with true friends. And you know what? Those that have a respect and love for the Father.  Those that give Him that special place in their hearts are friends of God and He shares His inner thoughts with them.

Jesus said that He doesn’t call us servants anymore, but He calls us friends.  So as a friend of God are we taking time each day to listen to His voice as He reveals His mysteries to us? God’s secrets are revealed to those who reverence Him.  They are revealed to those who love and respect Him.  To those whose hearts are for Him. God is not holding back from us, but He is looking for those who will take what He says to heart and use it to bless others.  He has a treasure of wisdom for us and He wants to pour it out to us.

So today take time to tell your Heavenly Father how much you love Him and how special He is to you and then watch and see how many things are revealed to you.  Take a few minutes even now and express your love to the One who loves you with such an intense love that He would send His one and only Son, to wash away all of your sins.

“While friends and family can fail us, Jesus will always be your most trusted friend!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and calling me your friend. Thank you for all of the times we cried together and laughed together. I and so greatful for you presence in my life. Please help me be a better friend to not only you but to others. May they always see you in me… I love you Lord.. in Your precious name Amen.

September 10th 2019 – Incomprehensible Love

“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them, Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I am awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18)

Have you ever tried to count the grains of sand on the seashore? For those of you who may have tried, you now know it is absolutely impossible! There are so many in just a scoop of your hand that it becomes incomprehensible to think that we could even begin to count them.

In this scripture verse, the psalmist tells us that God’s thoughts toward us even outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore! What imagery. The Father, who created you and who numbered all your days, is thinking about you all the time. He never stops thinking about you…And they are not thoughts of condemnation and judgement, but thoughts of absolute love and adoration. How precious are His thoughts toward us.

In our limited understanding, this is just too good to be true…but it is true. God is thinking about you right now!

“Jesus thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, it amazes me that your thoughts toward me outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. And your thoughts towards me are loving thoughts! I pray that I might be able to receive this truth into my heart, so that I might be able to simply respond with loving thoughts back to you. I thank You for your sacrifice of your Son Jesus, it was the ultimate expression of Your love for us. Please forgive us for the times when we have questioned your love for us. I believe that You love us and have demonstrated that love once and for all through the cross. I pray that the truth of Your love for us will be the bedrock of my faith even during the times when I don’t feel loved. Wash me clean and use me for Your kingdom today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
