“And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one” (Matthew 6:13)
God has three very important attributes. The first is that He is omniscient, which means that He is all-knowing. Secondly, God is omnipotent, which means that He is all-powerful. And third, God is omnipresent, which means that He is present everywhere.
In direct contrast to this, the devil (our enemy) does not reflect God’s divine attributes. He is not omnipotent. Although he has great power over mankind, his power is definitely limited, he has nowhere near the power of God. Nor is the devil omniscient. He knows many things, but he doesn’t know all things. And, he is not omnipresent. He can only be in one place at one time.
Now don’t be mistaken, if you are a nonbeliever (never asked Jesus into your life) You have no defense against the Devil, he can pretty much do whatever he wants to do in your life. What the devil doesn’t want you to know is that we can ask God protection. The devil complained that God had put a wall of protection around Job (see Job 1:10). So we see from this that even though Satan has a wicked agenda, he has to ask permission to touch the child of God. There is an impenetrable wall that God will placed around you that Satan cannot breach. That doesn’t mean you can’t be tempted. It doesn’t mean you can’t be harassed. It doesn’t mean you can’t be attacked.
But God never will give you more than you can handle. So when the devil comes knocking at your door, I would suggest that you call out and ask “Jesus, would You mind answering that?” The only thing the enemy fears is the power of Jesus Christ.
“Temptation will come into our lives. Call out on the power of Jesus and stand behind God’s protection.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Today, we look to the power of Your name and proclaim that You are Lord and that through Your name we can be assured protection from the Enemy It is in Your name that we also see our prayers answered. Help me to understand Your Word so that I know how to defend against Satan’s schemes and weapons of destruction. Finally, thank You for the victory I have in Your name. No matter what Satan says or does, I am under Your protection, I cannot be taken from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
