February 20th 2018 – Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Jesus

“Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:46-47)

I wonder whether Bartimaeus, a blind man, would have been healed by Jesus if he had been afraid and simply sat in silence when Jesus walked by. Would Jesus have stopped and turned toward him and touched him? Perhaps. But there were a lot of blind people around during Jesus’ earthly ministry. There were a lot of deaf people. There were a lot of people with leprosy. There were a lot of people with all kinds of physical problems.

But Jesus didn’t heal all of those people, did He? In fact, we usually find in Scripture that Jesus responded to the people who spoke out and called out to Him. In the case of Bartimaeus, he cried out, and his voice was heard. It probably helped that he screamed. We do not need to scream in our prayers, necessarily, but we do need lift our prayers to God.

What is your need today? Do you need a touch in your body, like Bartimaeus did? Then call out to Jesus. Do you have a child who needs to be healed? Do you have a marriage that needs help? Are you lonely and desire a husband or wife. Then call out to Jesus, and pray with confidence even if the answer does not come quickly.

Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8).

Spend some time with Jesus, focusing simply on enjoying His company. In this time, share with Him the desire of your heart. Let’s call out to the Lord, pray with confidence.

Heavenly Father, I want to have a passion for Your presence. Please remove from me any fear of being passionately set apart for You. I ache to know You more! Teach me to pray the prayers that stir Your heart. I want my worship and prayers from my heart to bless Your heart and give You the love that You deserve! Please give me the grace to make and keep time set aside to worship, dialogue with You in prayer. Please forgive me when I push aside that time and dont take it seriously. Help me to always be be able to pray with confidence in my devotional life. Help me to hear from You according to Your word and allow You to speak into my life that I might have daily communion with You always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Dont be afraid to ask, speak you hearts to the Lord. Pray with confidence that your prayers truly are powerful and effective enough to touch God’s heart”

Simple—have we said a “bullfrog prayer”of ourselves, and prayed as usual, and rushed in prayer from habit or ritual, or do we come into “Almighty God’s Holy Presence in true fear, trembling, and “Holy Awe”, to hear, in still humbleness of soul to what HE Will speak to us.
God spoke to Moses that he was on Holy Ground, and Moses feared God. Do we as Christians enter His Presence in Holy fear and Righteous Awe as Jesus does. Better to hear God first, than enter His Presence as a fool with many words, before hearing HIM! “LORD JESUS, quiet us in Your Father’s Presence, and lead us in our prayer life for Your sake, Amen”👑
