May 6th 2026 – The Story of the Crimson Worm

Scripture Reference:

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Psalm 22:1)

Reflection:

Today, I came across a story that beautifully draws a parallel between the crucifixion of Jesus and a remarkable aspect of God’s creation in nature.

During the crucifixion of Christ we encounter one of the most poignant moments in history. When Jesus hung on the cross, His cry echoed the words of Psalm 22:1, a profound expression of anguish and abandonment. But nestled within this sorrowful psalm is a verse that reveals a beautiful truth about sacrifice and love: “But I am a worm and not a man” (Psalm 22:6).

The word used here is not the common Hebrew term for worm which is rima, but the scriptures use the word “tolaf,” which refers specifically to the crimson worm. The crimson worm offers us an incredible picture of sacrifice and purpose. This creature, unique in its life cycle, exemplifies a profound truth about Jesus and His love for us.

When the time comes for the crimson worm to lay her eggs, she climbs a tree and attaches herself to the wood. In doing so, she creates a hard crimson shell that binds her to that tree for the remainder of her life. This act is not just a physical attachment; it signifies a permanent choice. Under her protective shell, new life begins to emerge. For three days, her offspring feed on her living body, drawing sustenance from her very being.

After this time, the crimson worm gives up her life, and from her body flows a crimson substance that stains the wood beneath her. This act of sacrifice is her final gift to the next generation. The only way for her children to live is for her to die.

In this imagery, we see a reflection of Christ’s mission on Earth. Jesus willingly climbed the tree of sacrifice—the cross—knowing He would not come down alive. His purpose was clear: to give His life so that we might live. Just as the crimson worm’s body nourished her children, Jesus’ body was broken for us. His blood, a crimson stain on the cross, signifies the ultimate act of love.

As we ponder this connection, let us remember that true love is not just spoken; it is demonstrated through sacrifice.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (1 John 3:16).

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us.

“True love is not just spoken; it is the willingness to sacrifice oneself for the sake of another, reflecting the heart of Christ in every act.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the unimaginable sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. Thank You for the depth of His love, beautifully illustrated in the story of the crimson worm. Help us to grasp the significance of His sacrifice on the cross, where He took upon Himself our sins, pain, and separation from You.

Lord, as we reflect on the crimson stain of His blood, may we be reminded that true love often requires sacrifice. Teach us to embrace this truth in our own lives. Inspire us to love selflessly, to serve those around us, and to be willing to lay down our lives for others, just as Jesus did for us.

Help us to live in a way that honors His ultimate gift, sharing His love and grace with a world that desperately needs it. May our lives be a reflection of His light and hope, drawing others to the saving grace found in Him. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

February 14th 2026 – The Beauty of Love in Marriage

Scripture Reference:

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” (Ephesians 5:25-33)

Reflection:

Love between a man and a woman is a sacred gift, reflecting the profound relationship between Christ and His church. In Ephesians, we see a divine blueprint for marriage, where love is not merely a feeling but an active choice to serve, sacrifice, and uplift one another.

The Nature of Love

Jesus exemplified love through His life—showing compassion, patience, and unwavering commitment. His commandment to love one another (John 13:34) extends into the marital relationship, urging couples to embody this love daily.

Marriage as a Covenant

Marriage is a covenant, not just a contract. It signifies a lifelong commitment, mirroring Christ’s unwavering fidelity to His people. This covenant calls for mutual respect, understanding, and a willingness to grow together in faith.

Practical Application

  1. Serve One Another: Find ways to serve your spouse, reflecting Christ’s love through actions. Simple gestures can strengthen your bond.
  2. Communicate Openly: Maintain open lines of communication. Share your thoughts, dreams, and struggles, fostering a deeper connection.
  3. Pray Together: Make prayer a cornerstone of your relationship. Seek God’s guidance in your marriage, inviting Him into every aspect of your lives.
  4. Forgive Freely: Embrace forgiveness as a vital part of love. Just as Christ forgives us, we must extend grace to our partners.

In a world that often defines love superficially, let us look to Jesus as the ultimate example. As we cultivate love in our marriages, may we continually seek to reflect His love, beauty, and grace in all we do.

“True love is a journey of grace, where two hearts grow together, reflecting the endless compassion and commitment of Christ.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the beautiful gift of love and the sacred bond of marriage. We recognize that love is not just an emotion but a commitment that mirrors Your unwavering love for us. Help us to embody this love in our relationship, nurturing it with kindness, respect, and understanding.

Lord, as we navigate the joys and challenges of life together, grant us the wisdom to communicate openly and honestly. May we listen to each other with compassion and seek to understand one another’s hearts. Help us to create a safe space where we can share our dreams, fears, and hopes, growing closer through every conversation.

We ask for Your guidance in our daily lives. May we find opportunities to serve one another selflessly, reflecting Christ’s love through our actions. Teach us to forgive freely, just as You have forgiven us, allowing no bitterness to take root in our hearts. May we extend grace to each other in moments of disagreement and frustration, remembering that we are on this journey together.

Lord, we also pray for Your strength in times of trial. When challenges arise, remind us to turn to You for support and direction. May our love be a testament to Your glory, inspiring others to seek the beauty of a Christ-centered relationship.

As we grow together in faith, help us to prioritize our relationship with You. May our prayers unite us, drawing us closer to Your heart and to each other. Let our marriage be a shining light in a world that often misunderstands love, showcasing the depth and richness of a covenant rooted in Your truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

December 13th 2025 – The Depth of God’s Love

Scripture Reading:
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)

Reflection:
In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to say “I love you” without truly understanding the depth of those words. God, however, took love to a whole new level. He didn’t just speak of His love; He demonstrated it through the ultimate sacrifice—sending His Son, Jesus, to atone for our sins.

Understanding God’s love intellectually is one thing, but feeling it in our hearts can be a struggle. When life’s challenges weigh us down, we may find ourselves questioning God’s love. “Does He really care?” “Why do I feel so distant?” In these moments, we need to ground ourselves in the truth of Scripture.

1 John 4:10 provides a powerful reminder: God’s love is not contingent on our love for Him; it’s unconditional and unwavering. The act of sending Jesus was a deliberate choice to express His love for us fully. The cross is the ultimate symbol of that love—a reminder that no matter our feelings, God’s love is steadfast.

When doubts creep in, let’s look to the cross. Let the truth of God’s love wash over us, filling the gaps left by our emotions. We can choose to let faith rise up, anchoring our hearts in the promise of His unwavering love.

“True love is not just spoken; it is lived out in every sacrifice, every moment of grace, and every act of kindness.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the incredible sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. It is the ultimate expression of Your love for us, a love that knows no bounds. Forgive me for the times I have doubted Your love and for allowing my emotions to cloud my faith. Help me to remember that Your love is not based on my feelings but on the truth of Your Word.

May I always find comfort in the reality that You willingly gave up Your Son for my sake. Teach me to rest in Your love, especially during moments of uncertainty. Let that love be the bedrock of my faith, guiding my thoughts and actions. I pray that I may share this love with others, reflecting Your grace and compassion. In the name of Your beloved Son, Jesus, I pray, Amen.

June 29th 2025 – Love and Forgiveness

“How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, with your delights!” (Song of Solomon 7:6)

In the beautiful narrative of Song of Solomon, we witness the passionate love between Solomon and his bride, alongside the reality of conflict. Intriguingly, their disputes seem to dissolve almost as quickly as they arise, not through mere tolerance, but through a rekindling of their passion and desire for one another. This prompts us to ponder, “How can couples navigate from conflict to affection so swiftly?” The answer lies in two vital biblical principles: forgiveness and love. When a marriage is built upon the active practice of forgiveness and genuine love, conflicts may arise, but they won’t linger.

So, how can we incorporate these principles into our own marriages? The answer may sound straightforward, yet it requires Christ at the center. To embody love and forgiveness, we must make a conscious choice to act lovingly and forgive wholeheartedly. Today, make the choice to forgive your spouse for any grievances, and to love them despite their imperfections. Embrace the love that Christ exemplifies—He loved us so deeply that He sacrificed Himself for us, even while we were still in our shortcomings. This is the essence of true love. Just as Jesus chose to forgive us completely, we too can cultivate a spirit of love and forgiveness in our relationships. By doing so, we equip ourselves to transition swiftly from pain to passion in our marriages.

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:12-14)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I recognize that living a life marked by continual forgiveness is impossible without a relationship with You. I thank You for the invaluable gift of salvation. Your boundless love and forgiveness have transformed my life, and I long to extend that same grace within my relationships. Fill me with Your Spirit and guide me through Your Word, empowering me to reflect the love of Jesus in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
