August 25th 2018 – Dropped Call

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

To pray and then to live in known sin is like hanging up the a direct phone call to Heaven. All the praying in the world won’t help us if we are choosing to keep living in sin.

God said in (Isaiah 59:1-2), “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” Also, the psalmist said, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the LORD will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).

For personal revival to take place in each of our lives, there must be repentance from all known sin. This includes not only the sins of commission (doing bad things), but sins of omission too.

You may say, “I’m living a clean life. I don’t lie. I don’t steal. I don’t get drunk. I’m faithful to my spouse.” God bless you for all of that. But you could be guilty of a sin of omission. The Bible says, “To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17).

If the Lord is prompting you to share the gospel to someone and you say choose not to, if the Lord is asking you to share freely of your money and invest in someone’s life then you flat out refuse, if the Lord is nudging you to pray more and you don’t want to, this can be a sin of omission.

God wants to change your life and forgive you of all your sins. Is there something you are doing that you know you should not be doing as a follower of Jesus? If so, you need to turn from it. You never will experience personal revival until you do.

What happens when we repent?  (Asking for forgiveness before God)

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)

God loves us more deeply than I think we’ll ever know, but He hates our sin with a passion. That’s why He sent Jesus to die for us, so that our sin could be removed. Sin forms a wall between man and God, even in a believer’s life. The Blood of Jesus is the only thing capable of removing such a wall. When we repent (confess and forsake our sin), it opens the flood-gates to receive our heavenly Father’s rich blessings and goodness in our lives!

If today’s message applies to you, please seek Jesus in prayer and ask for forgiveness. If you do not know Jesus personally and are at this website, please know that it is by no mistake. Please consider praying the prayer with me below.

“In order for revival to take place in our lives, there must be repentance from all known sin.”

Prayer: (Please pray this prayer)

Heavenly Father, I am truly sorry. I repent and ask You to forgive me. I want to follow you and ask you (into) or (back into) my life. I acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the cross for me all my sins are forgiven in His name. I repent and cancel all access to my life by evil spirits. I claim the blood of Jesus over me as my protection. I command all evil spirits that have entered my body or mind, to leave me now in Jesus’ name. I now make a new commitment to guard my eyes and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ. I will walk by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I will work to take control of my body and anew my mind, not giving into fleshly lusts. I will depend on the Holy Spirit to help me accomplish this, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
