“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
God promises to meet the needs of every one of His followers, but sometimes, it might seem like those needs are not being met. If this is the case, then we must evaluate ourselves, because without realizing it, we may be hindering the answer to our prayers. What might be the cause of our unmet needs?
An important thing to understand is that not everything you want is a need. When you need something, you have to have it. It’s essential to life, and you can’t live without it. When you want something, you wish for it, but you can live without it. If your needs don’t seem like they are being met, evaluate whether your request is a really a need or actually a want. Ask God to help you distinguish between what you desire and what is really essential to your life.
“Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!” (Matthew 6:8)
God allows you to come before him and make any and all requests. Have you brought your request before the Lord? If not, you cannot expect to receive those things from Him. Also, be sure your motives are pure, because the Father does not reward selfishness.
“And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.” (James 4:3)
God has given each person certain abilities and talents to use. He has equipped you with the ability to do certain things that will help meet your needs. He will not do for you what you can already do for yourself. For example, you should work and provide for your family. God has made it so that you can, so don’t expect him to do it for you.
Sometimes we want things done in our own timing or in our own way and are not willing to wait on God. Don’t rush or try to force the Lord. Don’t tell Him how to meet your need. It will be done in His way and in His timing, not yours, but it will be done. Be patient, sometimes God will provide through others or in ways you don’t expect.
If you are a follower of Jesus, you have a Heavenly Father who is committed to meeting your needs. Jesus promised that if you believe that you will receive what you prayed for then it would be granted you. If God has confirmed He’ll meet your needs, then you can be confident that He will do it. If it doesn’t seem like God is working on your behalf, then pray.
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)
Ask God to show you where you are going wrong and to give you patience to wait on His timing, then trust God! He will meet your needs!
“It may be at the last minute or provided in a way that we have not considered, but He will always provide for our needs.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I love and praise you for this day, for my family, my dear friends and all of the blessings that you have poured into my life. You have always provided for me especially in the difficult times. You have always been faithful to me even when I have not to you. Today I ask that your presence will overwhelm us and refill us with Your Holy Spirit into every corner of our soul. I love You. In Jesus’ name Amen.
