September 23rd 2026 – Raising Our Children in God’s Ways

Scripture Reference:

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up…” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

Reflection:

Have you ever paused to consider the profound impact of your words and actions on your children? In Deuteronomy, we find a divine mandate that calls us to teach our children diligently about God’s ways. This isn’t just a task; it’s a sacred journey we embark on together.

Heartfelt Teaching
Before we can teach our children, we must first allow God’s Word to penetrate our hearts. When His truths reside within us, they naturally overflow into our conversations and daily lives. Reflect on this: Is Scripture an integral part of your life? Are you allowing it to shape your thoughts, decisions, and interactions?

Daily Moments of Faith
This passage reminds us to integrate faith into every aspect of our lives—when we sit at home, walk along the road, lie down, and rise up. Imagine turning ordinary moments into extraordinary ones by sharing a Bible verse at breakfast or discussing a biblical principle during a walk. These moments become powerful teaching opportunities, helping your children see God in their everyday lives.

Modeling Godly Behavior
Children are keen observers. They learn not just from what we say but from what we do. Are you living out the values you wish to impart? Let your actions reflect the love, grace, and forgiveness of Christ. When you stumble, use it as a teaching moment to demonstrate humility and reliance on God’s mercy.

Creating a Spiritual Environment
Consider how you can make God’s Word visible in your home. Hang scripture verses on the walls, create a family prayer corner, or write reminders on your doorposts. These tangible reminders serve as prompts for conversations about faith and reinforce the truths you wish to instill.

Prayer as a Foundation
Prayer is the cornerstone of a faith-filled family. Make it a daily practice to pray together, inviting God into your conversations and decisions. Encourage your children to express their thoughts and feelings to Him. This builds their relationship with God and teaches them the power of prayer.

Encouraging Questions
Foster an environment where questions about faith are welcomed. Encourage your children to explore their thoughts and doubts. Be open to discussing difficult topics together, showing them that seeking answers is a vital part of their spiritual growth.

Think about the practical steps you can take to incorporate God’s teachings into your family life. What small changes can you make to ensure that His Word is a guiding light in your home? Embrace this journey, knowing that your efforts will bear fruit in the hearts of your children.

“To raise our children in God’s ways is to weave His truths into the fabric of our daily lives, transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary lessons of faith.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for the incredible blessing of our children. You have entrusted us with their care and spiritual upbringing, and we do not take this responsibility lightly. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and guidance as we seek to raise them in Your ways.

Help us to keep Your Word close to our hearts so that it overflows into our daily lives. Teach us how to share Your truths in meaningful ways, turning everyday moments into opportunities for spiritual growth. May our conversations at the dinner table, during car rides, and before bedtime be filled with Your love and teachings.

Grant us the strength to model a life that reflects Your grace, mercy, and love. May our actions speak louder than our words, showing our children what it means to walk in faith. Help us to be patient and understanding, especially when they question or struggle with their beliefs. Give us the courage to guide them through those moments with love and honesty.

We pray for a nurturing environment in our home, where Your presence is felt and Your Word is visible. Inspire us to create spaces that invite discussion and reflection on You. May our home be a sanctuary filled with prayer, love, and laughter, where our children see us seeking You in all things.

Lord, we also ask that You instill in our children a hunger for Your Word and a desire to know You more deeply. May they grow in their faith, developing a personal relationship with You that guides them through life’s challenges. Surround them with friends and mentors who encourage their spiritual journey.

Finally, we ask for Your protection over their hearts and minds. Shield them from negativity and doubt, and help them find their identity and purpose in You. May they always remember that they are loved, valued, and created for a purpose. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.

August 11th 2026 – In His Presence

Scripture Reference:

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:2-3)

Reflection:

As we reflect on the journey of the Israelites, we see a people shaped by their culture and surroundings, often stumbling in their faithfulness to God. The commandment given in Exodus challenges us to recognize the true essence of our relationship with God—not just in terms of loyalty but in the depth of His presence in our lives.

The phrase “You shall have no other gods before me” can be understood more profoundly as “You shall have no other gods in my presence.” This invites us to consider how we perceive God’s presence in our daily lives. Are there distractions or idols that vie for our attention, drawing us away from the one true God?

In ancient Israel, the struggle with idolatry was not simply about worshiping false gods; it was about forgetting the deliverance and faithfulness of YHWH. Just as the Israelites faced the temptation to turn towards other deities, we too can find ourselves caught in cycles of faithfulness and distraction.

Take a moment to reflect on your life. Are there areas where you may be allowing distractions to take precedence over your relationship with God? Write down any idols you identify, and spend time in prayer, asking God for guidance and strength to turn back to Him.

As we seek to live in the truth of God’s presence, let us remember that our faithfulness is not just about resisting temptation but actively cultivating a relationship with the One who loves us unconditionally. Embrace the journey of faith, knowing that He is always with us.

“In the quiet of His presence, we find the strength to turn away from distractions and embrace the faithfulness of our one true God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful hearts, acknowledging Your unwavering love and faithfulness. Thank You for delivering us from our own struggles and the distractions that vie for our attention. We recognize that, like the Israelites, we often find ourselves caught in cycles of faithfulness and idolatry.

Lord, help us to identify the idols in our lives—those things that distract us from fully experiencing Your presence. Whether it be material possessions, relationships, or even our own ambitions, grant us the wisdom to recognize when these things take precedence over our relationship with You.

As we navigate our daily lives, may we be reminded of Your constant presence, guiding and supporting us. Teach us to seek You first in all things, finding our identity and purpose in Your love alone. Strengthen our resolve to remain faithful, even when the world around us pulls us in different directions.

Help us to cultivate an intimate relationship with You, one that is rooted in prayer, worship, and the study of Your Word. May our lives reflect the glory of Your presence as we strive to honor You above all else. In moments of doubt or temptation, remind us of the freedom and joy that comes from being in Your presence.

We trust in Your grace to sustain us and Your Spirit to guide us. May our hearts remain open to Your leading, and may we always seek to glorify You in all that we do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
