August 25th 2026 – Alive in Hope: The Call to Strive and Share

Scripture Reference:

“For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4:10)

“For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22)

Reflection:

In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to lose sight of our purpose and hope. The Apostle Paul, writing to Timothy, emphasizes the importance of toil and striving in our faith. This exertion is not merely for our benefit but is rooted deeply in our hope in “the living God.” In a world filled with uncertainty and despair, it is this hope that anchors our souls.

Hope and Purpose
1 Timothy 4:10 reminds us that our labor is not in vain. We work hard because we believe in a God who saves. This is a call to action—our faith is not passive. We’re encouraged to engage with our communities, share the Gospel, and live out our faith in practical ways.

The second verse, 1 Corinthians 15:22, offers profound assurance: while Adam brought sin and death into the world, Christ redeems and offers life. This is the essence of our hope—through Christ, we are made alive! The resurrection is not just a historical event; it’s a transformative reality that we experience daily.

Application:

  • Live with Purpose: Reflect on how your daily activities align with your hope in Christ. Are you actively engaging in your faith? Consider volunteering, mentoring, or simply sharing your testimony with others.

June 6th 2025 – Who Are You?

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:” (2 Corinthians 1:1)

“Who are you?” This question often prompts us to respond with our professions, such as “I’m a teacher” or “I work as an engineer.” However, these responses tell more about what we do rather than who we truly are. To uncover our real identity, we must look beyond our roles and understand to whom we truly belong.

Many people may not realize it, but we all find ourselves in one of two camps: we are either children of God or children of the devil. This distinction might be difficult for some to accept, yet Jesus made it clear in John 8:44 when He addressed the Pharisees, stating, “For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does.” In unequivocal terms, Jesus identifies those who engage in evil as belonging to the devil. But how can any of us become children of God when we have all sinned? The answer lies in one name—Jesus. Through His sacrificial death on the cross, He bore our sins, burying them forever. When we ask for His forgiveness and place our faith in His death and resurrection, we are welcomed into His family as children of God.

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” (John 1:12)

Now that you grasp the essence of the question, let me ask again… “Who are you and who do you belong to?”

“Our primary identity is not in what we do but in who we are or ‘whose’ we are.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a humble heart, recognizing that I have sinned and done evil in Your sight. I confess my shortcomings and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus, Your Son, died on the cross for my sins and rose again, conquering death and offering me new life. I trust in His sacrifice and accept the grace You freely offer. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, empower me to walk in Your ways, and guide me to live a life that reflects Your love and truth. Help me to understand my identity as Your child and to share that truth with others. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
