“And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center.” (John 19:17-18)

It is painful to consider what Jesus went through for us and to think about what He endured on our behalf. The remarkable truth I keep coming back to time and time again is that it was His decision. He decided to endure these things… the suffering, the beatings and the crucifixion. It is convicting because I know how little in comparison it has taken to rattle my endurance at times. I have never been beaten for Jesus much less crucified.

It comes down to each and every one of us making a commitment to Jesus. How far will you follow Jesus? Until it gets inconvenient, uncomfortable, or what about when it becomes painful? Are you willing to follow Him all the way? Let us follow our Jesus, who is so worthy, all the way until the end. Until we hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant.” God bless you as you follow Jesus.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,You have called me to a disciple’s life. I want to embrace that life, yet there are times when I look back. I am Your disciple. I will go where You lead me. Please help my faith I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

August 21st 2016 – Jesus Paid the Price? Come to Jesus and be Free!

“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Receive the gift from the captives-from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon-and go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah.” (Zechariah 6:9-10)

Whether we realize it or not, we have all been captives at one point or another. In fact, many still are. This doesn’t mean that we are prisoners of war or slaves to some regime, but rather we are all born as slaves to our own sin.

(John 8:34-35) “Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.”

Being a slave to sin is dangerous because many times those who are in chains do not realize it, and in some cases they even love their captivity. This self-deception leads to a life of pain and heartache – but there is hope. Jesus Christ came into this world to proclaim freedom to those who are captive to sin. As He took His last breathe on the cross, the chains of sin that held so many down were rendered powerless. Now, if we would simply come to Jesus seeking His forgiveness and the freedom He offers, He will give us the key to unlock our chains and the power to live an abundant life.

“God desires to free you from your sin and give you an abundant life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have been held captive by my sins. Father, forgive me of all these things and release me from my chains. I believe that Jesus is the key to freedom, and I trust in His payment for my sins on the cross. Fill me with Your Spirit and use me to share the key to freedom with others. Please set me free from the Slavery of Sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 11th 2016 – God the Father is Patient.

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

We’ve all made promises that for one reason or another, we were unable to keep. We’ve also been at the receiving end of a broken promise. We have all felt the damage of an untrustworthy person or from someone living out of fellowship with the Lord. Sometimes we let those pains of broken promises trickle over into our personal relationship with God. In 2 Peter, the apostle desires to put an end to any fear we may have that God will not follow through. Throughout this letter to the church, we see Peter reminding the people about God’s promises and how they have come true. Many may say, “If God has promised to judge evil and save our world, then why are we still suffering? Why do we continue to turn on the news to find pain and death?” The answer…

…God the Father is patient.

God will judge the world. He will make everything right, but His love is so amazing that He desires to save as many as He can before that time. Our heavenly Father is waiting in eternity for more people to respond to His grace. Have you responded? Could the creator of the entire universe be waiting for you to come to Him for forgiveness? Don’t put it off any longer, if you have not trusted in Jesus for salvation then today is the day. He died on the cross for your sins and rose from the grave so that you could have new life. Trust in Him today.

“God’s timing is not our timing.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I’ve done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 6th 2016 – Set Free!

“And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” (Romans 6:18)

If you are a Christian, the shackles of sin are shattered and you are free. Having been in bondage to sin, you are now free to live in Christ. Remain fast in that freedom! Although free from bondage, should you slip the shackles back on your wrists? Certainly not! Yet we do that, don’t we? Why sit in a dungeon when the door is wide open? Let’s leave the slavery of sin behind us.

(John 8:34-36) “Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

I want to start each day forward with the mindset to be victorious! Not in your own strength, but in yielding to the Holy Spirit. We cannot live the Christian life under our own capacity. We can live life through the power of God. Bread in a toaster will not become toast until you plug the toaster in. You cannot break the bondage of sin without Jesus. When plugged in, you are powerful. Are you plugged in?

“We are free to live for God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me from my sins. Thank You for the gift of freedom through You. Please remind me of that freedom when I feel like a slave to the world. Help me live in liberty by the power of Your Spirit like You want and intend for me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
