October 19th 2015 – Shattered and Scattered!

images-257

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfareb and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile. (Jeremiah 29:11–14”

Have you dropped a glass and watched it shatter and scatter across the floor? There was nothing you could do but sweep it up and throw it away. You might remind yourself not to go barefoot any time soon since splinters of glass sometimes linger.

Can you relate this scenario to a broken heart? It may have felt like it shattered into a million pieces. You probably felt it would never mend. The hurt was just too deep; too painful.

“Time heals all wounds,” but at the moment of the shattering, it is impossible to believe. You look for brighter days, but your view is through a soul that sees only gray. You are numb.

Painful events generate broken hearts: the death of a loved one, children gone astray, a relationship gone wrong or  perhaps loved ones turned on you with no reguard for your heart. In any event, you do not feel like you can go another moment, let alone another day. You may ask yourself, “Am I depressed, oppressed, or just one big mess?”

I have had my life, my dreams and my heart “shattered and scattered” quite a few times… when I was 21, I lost my childhood sweetheart, my best friend and my father within three months of my life. Their loss was very painful, the brokeness and loneliness I was experiencing was more then I could deal with. Within a year I met someone and got married. I built a new life, dreams and a family. Started a very successful business that I operated for many years. After 15 years of a awsome marriage, with no warning, My wife emptied our bank accounts and abandoned not only myself but our children. With all of my dreams broken and shattered again, I had to be strong for my children, however I discovered how codependent I was. I was trying to deal with the pain on my own and instead, generated more distress bitterness and anger.

Five long years I struggled. Knowing that I couldn’t handle any of this pain any longer, dealing with thoughts of ending my life. I attended a faith based 12 Step goup. Shortly after, gave my life Jesus, and asked for His help to put my life back together. I had placed myself up on the Potter’s wheel and said, “Lord you have to fix me. I can’t do it myself.”

Only God can mend your brokenness. He is the Potter and His specialty is molding us and shaping us. We need to remain on the Potter’s wheel to be restored, but often we run to others. It is wonderful to get support from a godly friend or prayer with your Pastor, but this should be in addition to, not a substitute for time alone with the Lord.

Only Jesus can mend a broken heart, so don’t delay if you find yourself in need of repair.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise you for taking a shattered and scattered life and like a broken glass, when someone would normally throw it away. You Lord fashioned me back together. I love you Lord.

Thank you for my sweet wife that you brought into my life 5 years ago, Thank you for bringing my children to know you and thank you for my friends.. As your word says, You indeed carried me through devastation and restored my life… even thought life continues to be hard at times. I am greatful that You are here for me every step of the way. Accepting You as my Lord and Savior was the greatest decision I ever made. Thank You for Your endless pursuit of me. I love You Lord. In Your precious name, Amen.

October 18th 2015 – Rightly Dividing the Word

2015-10-18-02-43-53--1272387916

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

To rightly the divide the Word of God it takes times of reading it, meditating on it, and also studying it.  Each way opens up the truth of the Word.  I look at the Word of God like a miner seeking for gold.  Yes, he might get lucky and find some on the top, but most gold takes a lot of digging and working.

When we open our Bibles and start reading it, sometimes things can jump right off of the page and we are amazed and we get all excited.  But there are other times that we read the Word and nothing really hits us.  That’s when we need to ponder and chew on it for a while.  Do it during the course of the day.

You might say, how do I do that?  Here, let me show you a couple of different ways.  When you find a verse that speaks to you write it down or put it on the wallpaper on your phone, then, throughout the day look at it, say it a few times and think about what it’s saying to you personally.

Before I got a Smartphone, I used  to write scriptures on 3 by 5 cards and carry them with me, or hang them in places I would go, like a mirror, or on the door of the fridge.  Be creative and you will see that you will be digging up nuggets before you know it. His Word will be rightly divided in your life and you will be a worker for the kingdom, who is not ashamed.

Pyayer

Heavenly Father, Starting today, I’m going to be a doer and a digger of the Word.  I’m going to let the Your Holy Word have first place in my life and study it so that I can rightly divide it and not be ashamed. I also ask that you allow me to experience Your word visually while reading and meditating on it. Give me insight and understanding on the scriptures. We ask this in Jesus precious name. Amen.

October 17th 2015 – Hated by the World

2015-10-17-04-45-34-1329672905

“Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you.” (1 John 3:13)

A short verse, yet it says so much.  We are living in a time where this world is not going for godliness and righteousness, but for darkness and sin.  But the Scripture says that we are the light of the world and to let our light shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven.

Remember that where sin abounds, grace so much more.  If we’re to be light and salt then we need to be the brightest light we can be and the saltiest salt that we can be. I heard one person say it like this, “Be so salty for Jesus that people will thirst for Him”.  That’s what we need to do with light also.  As people see the Lord shining brightly they will come to Him.

The wise men saw a light in the night, a star shining brighter than any other light and they followed that star.  So it is with us.  If we love God and want to do the works of Jesus, people will take notice and when things happen in their lives and they need prayer, guess where they’re going to go?  You’ve got it!  To a bright light, you!

The world wants to live in darkness and one day when that trumpet sounds, it’s going to get pretty dark down here for anyone who has not accepted Jesus Christ.  Till that day, we’re going to shine for Jesus and the world might hate us for it, but Jesus will say, “Look there’s one of my brethren standing up for me, let’s put more light on him.”

Prayer,

I’m making a decision to let my light shine brighter and brighter each day.  The closer I get to Him the brighter I will become.  I pray that our people to have a bright path to You Lord so I’m going to do my part and shine brightly. Also please forgive me for sometimes getting angry and ready to fight back.  Th spiritual darkness is all around us these days. If I don’t keep my eyes on You Jesus it’s very easy to feel like we are loosing the battle..Please protect us from the opression of the enemy.

Gratefully we know the ending of this story and You are victorious. Please forgive our enemies, they have no idea what they are doing. In Your precious name. Amen.

October 16th 2015 – His Gentle Voice

images-161

“Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD  not in the fire; and after the fire a still” (1 Kings 19:11-12)

We see the great prophet Elijah being told by God to go to the mountain and wait there to hear from God.  I know, like us, Elijah was probably hoping for some supernatural move of God and God did do some of that.  He sent a wind that shook a mountain, then an earthquake, and then a fire, yet God’s voice was not in any of these.

Too often we want the spectacular and we miss out on the supernatural. The way that God speaks to us the majority of times is through His still small voice.  That voice is the voice of His precious Holy Spirit that lives within us.  When we get ourselves quiet enough we can hear Him giving us the direction that we need.

Jesus said that His sheep hear and know His voice, but if we’re going to always look for stuff on the outside, “wind, fire, earthquakes”, we’re going to miss the biggest moves of God in our lives.  We need to remember that God is a Spirit and those who worship must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

I used to listen to a song that was called Heart to Heart.  We can say that with our Heavenly Father, it is spirit to Spirit.  So go ahead and take some time today to just be still and quiet and listen to what your Father is saying to you.  I’ll tell you one thing, you won’t be disappointed.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, It is written in Your Word according to the word of God, Your sheep know Your Voice. Heavenly Father, I am one of Your sheep. I ask You to teach me to know Your Voice and to hear You distinctly and clearly according to Your word. I ask You Lord to teach me to discern every spirit to know if they are of You, Lord. As it is written, we should not believe every spirit but test the spirits to determine whether they are of God. I ask You Lord ro draw me closer to You so I will not ever hear the voice of a stranger, but of my Father. I ask You to do this in Jesus Name. Amen.

October 15th 2015 – The Overcomers

2015-10-15-05-01-04--1272387916

“He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Revelation 3:21)

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (John 5:4)

We are world overcomers not because of who we are or some great feat that we have accomplished, but because we are born of God.  When we made Jesus the Lord and Savior of our lives we were born into His family, the family of God.

All God says to us to do is believe it.  The second part of this verse states, this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.  Our faith is our belief of Who God is, what He has and what He can do.  Our faith is our knowing that God is for us and not against us.  Our faith is our trust that He has made us world overcomers.  So again, it’s not about us but it’s about Christ in us, the hope of glory.

Today, see yourself as one who overcomes the world and not one who is overtaken by the world.  See yourself as the victorious one, because you are in Him.  Remember He lives inside of you.  Who lives inside of us?  The Greater One lives in you, the One who created the stars and every living thing, the One who died on the cross for you.  He didn’t die at Calvary’s hill for Himself, He did it all for you, and He wants you to partake of all that He paid for you to have.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Today, I am a world overcomer because of You who lives in me.  I believe this by faith. My faith is in trusting you God and believing that what you said is true. I am a world overcomer. Thank You Lord for loving me and being involved in my life.

In Your precious name, Amen!

If your life has become unmanageable and your dealing with obstacles that seem unobtainable. Ask Jesus into your life, He will protect and guide you into victory. Click here to find out how.

October 14th 2015 – Our God is Always Faithful

images-223

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)

Our God is a faithful God.  Even when we are without faith He keeps on keeping on for us. So many times we get upset or we just don’t understand why something happened or why it didn’t go the way we prayed.  God is still there.

During times like this it’s best not to run from God your Father, but run to Him.  Run into His huge arms and let Him love on you.  Let Him embrace you and bring you the comfort that you need.  We will always have times throughout our lives where things happen, but God is there.  He is there to meet us where we are.

So today, no matter what is happening around you or in your heart, know that He is there, know that He will never leave you or forsake you. Even if you feel like you have let Him down, He remains faithful, He remains true to His Word and to His character.  Our Father cannot deny Who He is.

Everyone in the whole world can deny Him, but He will continue to be true to the Word and true to Himself.  Remember, He is love, it’s Who He is and love never fails.  Love will always win and our Heavenly Father has given you the victory today.

So look up, look at His arms open wide and see the One who gave all that He is, for you.  God is LOVE IN ACTION, and it’s all for us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise you and are so greatful that you are the one true God. A God of Love, Mercy and Grace. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.  This gives me the confidence to know that no matter what I’m going through or will go through, You will see me through to victory. Thank you for Your sacrifice on the Cross so that I may live… In your precious name Jesus, Amen.

October 13th 2015 – Life’s Hardest Trials

images-199

“Abraham said to his servants, Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you (Genesis 22:5)

I have often wondered about the emotional reaction of Abraham here when he was instructed by God to sacrifice his beloved Son. We have only to put ourselves in his place to sense what he felt, how his heart was torn, how he avoids telling Isaac the fearful truth until the very last possible moment, how he perhaps trembles within when Isaac asks the question, Where is the lamb?

We know there is no real answer to Isaac’s question until we read in the New Testament the story of John the Baptist standing before the people of Israel saying, Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

Where did this stricken father find the strength to carry through this fearsome task? The answer is found here in one brief phrase above in verse 5, Abraham said to his servants, ‘Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.’ Abraham is not trying to deceive these men, but somewhere in the quiet meditations of that awful night when this word first came to him, there came the consciousness that God could do something to raise this boy from the dead, and Abraham believed in resurrection. That is where he found the peace to follow God’s command. In the struggles of that night, he began to reason and to reckon on God.

He must have thought something like this: God has given me promises, and I have lived with God long enough to know that when God gives a promise, He carries it through. God has said that in my son Isaac all the nations of the earth shall be blessed. Isaac is necessary to the fulfillment of the promise. It can’t be any other; He has said this boy is the one who is going to be the fulfillment of the promise. Well then, if God has asked me now to offer him up as a sacrifice, there is only one explanation. God intends to raise him from the dead.

Abraham had never had, as we have today, the experience or the record of anyone having risen from the dead. Yet so firm is his faith in the character of God that he comes to a realization of the resurrection. This is confirmed in Hebrews 11: By faith Abraham offered Isaac. . . Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead… (Hebrews 11:17,19). Abraham risked everything he owned and loved on the character of God and found Him to be a God of resurrection.

Because of this wonderful triumph in his life, Abraham calls this place, God will provide, And based on this miracle there sprang up a little saying in Israel, a Proverb: When you get to the mount, it will be provided. God’s ways with people are such that it seems as though deliverance will never come. It seems that you will never be delivered. But if you go on, when you get to the mount, it will be provided. People’s disappointments are God’s appointments. It is never too late for God. Even if Abraham had been required to carry the bloody business through to its end, his father’s heart was quiet in restful peace because he knew God would raise his son from the dead.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that regardless of what You call me to lay on the altar in obedience to You, You always know what is best, and You always have a plan. I thank you for the recent lesson you taught me to fully trust you. I had no answers, but i was obedient to You Lord. As always You came through for me and provided the ram. I love You Lord… in Jesus name. Amen.

October 12th 2015 – Your Body is a Temple

images-286

“I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

“When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and are baptized you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). God’s Spirit actually makes it’s dwelling in you. You then become a “temple” designed for the worship of our God. It is a sanctuary for service in His Kingdom.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6: 19-20)

Above the Apostle Paul tells us that our bodies ARE the temple of the Holy Spirit. Paul was talking about sexual immorality when he wrote that verse to the Christians of Corinth. But the verse has a broader meaning. It means you don’t want to mess up the temple with hidden sins of any kind. It means that you don’t want to desecrate the temple with any foreign substances like tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or food. It means we want it to look nice so we take care of it by cleaning it, clothing it modestly, and making it presentable. It means that we take everything out that prevents us from serving and worshiping God and honoring him.

So lets do our best to take care of the bodies that God gave us, let’s make a comfortable place for the Spirit to live, work and guide us.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise your Holy Name. My life is yours…a temple for your Spirit… a place of worship 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Please help me to clean up and make it a presentable and fit place for service in your kingdom. I pray these things in the name of your Son and my Savior, Jesus. Amen.

October 10th 2015 – Amazing Grace

images-179

“But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.” (Romans 5:15)

Here in Romans, Paul, by the Spirit of God, is going to show us the difference between Adam and Jesus.  We’re going to see how great the work of Jesus Christ is and that even with the fall of the human race, what Jesus did was so much greater.

In this verse we see that the free gift that God gave to us, JESUS, is not like the fall of Adam.  In fact, Paul goes right on to say that through Adam many die, but through the grace of our loving Father, His mercy and goodness abounds to many.

Now I don’t know about you but I am sure happy that God’s grace and not His judgment is abounding to me.  You see when a person receives Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, all of his sins are now washed away by the blood of the spotless Son of God.  God doesn’t see us as poor old sinners but He see us as new creations in Christ.  He sees us born again.  In fact, this work of regeneration is so powerful that Almighty God doesn’t even remember your past sins.

Grace is God’s unmerited and undeserved favor.  I didn’t deserve it but His great love for me and you, provided it.  That is why throughout all eternity, it will be His grace that will flood our hearts.  That’s why we can sing a song like Amazing Grace and it is fresh each day.

Prayer – Today we are going to use the lyrics

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me….

I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now, I see.

T’was Grace that taught… my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved.

How precious did that Grace appear… the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares… we have already come.

T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far…and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me… His Word my hope secures.

He will my shield and portion be… as long as life endures.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years… bright shining as the sun.

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise… then when we’ve first begun.

(Amen)
