March 29th 2016 – Problems

 images-269

“Then I prayed, “Hear us, our God, for we are being mocked. May their scoffing fall back on their own heads, and may they themselves become captives in a foreign land!” (Nehemiah 4:4)

It’s hard enough to be faced with a near impossible task, but what makes it harder is often the discouragement we find from others around us. Words like, “That can’t be done”, “You’re not able” or “It’s to difficult” ot actually plagues us as we stare down difficult situations. Faced with these issues, how should we respond? I believe there are four main ways we can address problem situations:

  • Talk to God first.
  • Talk to God about the problem.
  • Talk to God about the  “Problem” people.
  • Talk to God about a solution.

While there is often a need to discuss the problem, we must be careful not to let it lead into the problem overwhelming us. Why? Because our God is bigger than the problem. This is why talking to God should be our first response in difficult times. When we do, we can respond in forgiveness towards those saying hurtful things and then walk in wisdom to overcome the issue at hand. Remember, whenever God is moving, there will be spiritual attacks. Guard against the attacks. Guard against discouragement, division and gossip. The enemy can use people (even other Christians) to draw us away from our mission. The enemy not only draws us to do bad things, but keeps us from doing good things. Go to God first, and He will give you what you need to love others and live for Him.

When you feel discouraged, spend time with God; spend time in worship and with other encouraging believers. Don’t quit!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,  Thank You for always being there for me in times of need. Give me the wisdom and strength to live for You and to ignore the voice of Your enemy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 28th 2016 – Less than Perfect Examples

images-95

60 But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying!” Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster[a] crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” So Peter went out and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:60-62)

If anyone had a reason to doubt God’s love for them, it was Cephas. Cephas, also known as Peter, had denied Jesus three times. Peter had turned his back on the very Son of God who he had seen raise the dead and heal the sick. Yet, Jesus did not reject Peter. Instead, He lifted Peter up and restored him.

This is one of the many reasons I love God’s Word – it’s real. The writers of scripture did not blot out the shortcomings of Peter. God’s Spirit did not inspire the writers to only record the good actions of God’s servants. Instead, we read through scripture the stories of imperfect men and women who God uses despite their shortcomings.

(2 Corinthians 4:7) “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.”

As fragile jars of clay, all our cracks and broken edges reveal the power within. Peter did not have the power in himself to admit relation to Jesus, but years later he endured pain and suffering for his King. This is the power of God to change a life and to use us to impact those around us. Praise God that He uses imperfect people to work out His perfect plan.

“God chooses people that are not perfect to follow Him, to tell others about Him and to lead others.”

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for Your love. Thank You for dying for a sinner like me and for using me to share this news with others. Help me to overcome my weaknesses with Your power as well as to stand in Your grace when I stumble. In Jesus’ name, Amen

March 27th 2016 – Game Changer

images-158
“And when Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.” (Acts 12:11)

Today, we rejoice in the most incredible event in the history of mankind. We celebrate the death, burial and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yet, how many of us stop and consider the wonder of what really happened? Often, we find ourselves caught up in the planning and celebration of this extraordinary event, never giving thought to the significance this has for us.

Let me encourage you to take a few minutes to reflect on the impact of Jesus’ victory. Take some time with your spouse, family or friends and read the story in Matthew 27 and 28. Reflect on what this means to you. For me, it means that I can be forgiven, death has been conquered and the guilt of my sins can be washed away. This event not only changed human history, it changed my history. Jesus is alive. His tomb is empty… this changes everything. It was a game changer..

“We should live our lives in amazement at what the Lord has done.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for conquering death, sin and the grave. Help me to stop and consider what You have done for me. Lord, I often go through my life without pausing to reflect on the most important things. Help me to take the time to consider what happened. Lord, please forgive me afresh for all of my sins. Help me to live for You and to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Is Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life? Did you once follow Him but are not living your life the way you should? Don’t miss out on the most important decision you will ever make.

Pray this prayer with me and start a new life, or recommit to to Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

March 26th 2016 – Humbled Before the Lord

images-218

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? I awakened you under the apple tree. There your mother brought you forth; There she who bore you brought you forth.” (Song of Solomon 8:5)

While it may not seem a big deal to us today, in the time of Solomon, it was a great humble act for someone like a king to choose a commoner as his bride. Yet, despite the fact that she was a servant in the vineyards, Solomon found her under the apple tree and pursued her.

It could be said that it was his humility that began this great and passionate love that is revealed in the pages of Song of Solomon. Even in our own lives, it is often in those moments when we are humble before the Lord and others that we experience the power and blessings of God.

This was the case in my own life. I had moved to a new town for a job, after moving there and finding out that the company I was going to work for scrapped the project. I was unable to find a job for the first time in my life. I was alone and absent from friends and family.  It had been 8 days since I had eaten. I was at one of the lowest points of my life, I felt broken and completely alone. It was the first time I can remember really asking God for help. I came to him with nothing but humbleness.  I cried in His presence for hours.

It was at that point that my life completely changed. All of the prayers that I prayed in Gods presence were answered exactly as I had prayed. That following day, I found a job, I met my beautiful wife and her wonderful family. I was even able find some odd jobs to make money to hold me over.

I have learned that humility is not debilitating of ourselves, but a right understanding of who we are in light of God and His majesty. When we understand that we deserve nothing from God because of our sin, we are brought low before Him. Yet, once we realize the great love that the Lord has for us, we are brought high into His presence by His grace. It’s in this attitude of humility and love that we are able to truly enjoy the life God has given us.

“Humility prepares our hearts to rightly receive God’s blessings.”

Prayer:

Dear God, I know that I am undeserving of Your blessings and yet, I praise You for the loving kindness You have shown towards me. Help me to walk in humility so that I may experience this life in light of Your goodness and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you are in a spot that your life is not going as you planned, try humbleness and ask Jesus for help. He stands at the door waiting for you to open it and let Him in.

March 25th 2016 – He Has Risen!

images-216

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” (Matthew 28:6)

“For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.” (Romans 11:30-32)

Since I have been in ministry as an evangelist (sharing the gosple to others) I often hear these comon responses “God wouldn’t forgive me”,”So much has happened in my life, Ive gone too far” or this one “I got to straighten out my life before I accept Him”

God offers all of mankind His mercy. Anyone who will beleive on Him and ask for his forgiveness.

Who are we to put limits on His mercy? When we choose not to minister the Gospel to another, we do just that. The definition of mercy is to not receive what you deserve. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remember that in no way did we deserve God’s merciful action. By no means did we merit Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the unrighteous and that He would bear the tremendous weight of our own sin on that cross. Through no power of our own, these events unfolded through the benevolent, merciful and loving Father which many want to push away. Let us commit ourselves to making sure that everyone hears God’s message of mercy to the broken. May all mankind hear the Gospel and make their choice. This Resurrection Sunday, we will not have a sunrise service. We will have a Son-Has-Risen service. On the other side of that breaking dawn, let us brace ourselves for our God given duties and make sure that the whole world hears. Please forward this today. SHARE HIS WORD.

Prayer:

Dear Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life. May I live only for You. Purify my heart with Your Truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. May I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 24th 2016 – Church, It’s Not a Place!

images-74

“you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5)

Churches come in all shapes and sizes. Some are traditional buildings with steeples and stained glass. Other churches may have been formed out of vacant warehouses or grocery stores.  While we may see many types of church buildings, we must always remember that the biblical church is not a building at all; it’s the people of God. That is why we created this web based ministry. We wanted to be a stepping stone to people that are technology savvy, but may not be able to or not ready to walk through the doors of a church building.  Throughout the last three years we have been amazed how far God has used this ministry to reach.

The Greek word for church is “ekklesia” which means, “called out”. This is used to refer to the church of God as people who have been called out of the world to love and serve Jesus Christ. We have been born again into this amazing family of believers who care for one another despite our differences. In reality, the church is not something that we get to define, but it is a family set up by God for His purpose. We may meet in local buildings all over the world, but we are united under the name of Jesus Christ. He is our foundation, He is our Lord.

“The church is NOT a place; it’s a people.”

Dear God, Thank You for the church. I know that You have given us the church for our good. Help me to love my brothers and sisters in Christ, even when we may disagree. May we always keep our eye on You. Give us unity so that we can show God’s love to a world in desperate need of it.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 23nd 2016 – Heaven Bound

images-226

“Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.” (2nd Corinthians 5:5)

When you get ready to take a trip, you plan and prepare for what’s about to happen. You make sure to prepare all your clothes and other items. You also make sure that everyone who is going along with you is also prepared for the trip. Since we take the time needed to prepare for our earthly trips, shouldn’t we also take the time to prepare for our journey into Heaven?

So how do you prepare for Heaven?  One way we can prepare is to spend time thinking about Heaven,  What will we do when we get there? What will it be like? What will we see, what will we talk about?

For me part of the excitement of a trip to the mountains or even the beach is thinking and planning what you desire to do once you get there. This builds the excitement and helps us know what we need to do before the trip. Of course, the most necessary part of any trip is making sure you know how to get there and this is most surely true with Heaven. We may have the best intentions but without a detailed map, we will not get there. So how do we get to Heaven?

Our map is the bible, it makes it very clear that we get to Heaven by trusting in Jesus Christ. We do not get there by our works, but by believing that Jesus died for us and that He rose again. Once we trust in His sacrifice for our sins, we are given Heaven and everything else that Jesus offers. We do not know when this journey will start, but we can be prepared today. Are you ready?

“Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people who have trusted Jesus as their Savior.”

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for the gift of Heaven through Jesus. Though I don’t deserve it, I look forward to all you have in store for me in Heaven. No crying, no pain and no sin; only the pure love and grace of our Heavenly Father. God, help me to share the message of Heaven with others so they can also experience the joy found in knowing it as their true home. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Is Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life? Did you once follow Him but let society trick you to fall away? Don’t miss out on the most important journey you will ever take.

March 22nd 2016 – Believe and Trust God

images-228

“…who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” And not being weak in faith; he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.” (Romans 4:18-19)

Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old. Think about that. What God was promising was not possible, yet it was possible because God promised it. Like the illustration above says, “God has a plan, do you trust Him?”

Many times in my life, I was faced with situations where I could not see how it could possibly work out. Time and again, I saw God come through and it built my faith. What has God brought you through? Think for a moment of all the situations that God has brought you through. Let your faith fight your fear. Do not be controlled by fear because when you fear, you are not controlled by faith. You have to make the choice. Will you choose faith or will you choose fear?

“We need to believe and trust in God even when it doesn’t make sense.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You in all circumstances,You that You are a God who keeps His promises. You tell us in Your bible that all things work together for good to those who love You. What an incredible promise! Lord, please help my faith and give me the occasion to help encourage another in their faith. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

March 21st 2016 – Foolish?

images-186.jpg

“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

There are many websites, books, movies and other things portraying the message of the cross as foolish. People pursue legal action to remove the cross and its meaning. Why? The cross offends those who do not want to hear the message. Jesus Christ came and died for our sins, and that’s offensive?! Yes, we are all sinners. “Well, that is just so judgmental.” No,  it’s the truth. People don’t want to hear it. Jesus and the cross demand that we admit our failings. We cannot admit we are sinners and yet cling to our pride.

Pride feels so good, doesn’t it? “Look at me. I am a self-made man. Come and be amazed by my shiny pride.” No friend, you are an incomplete and malfunctioning created being without Jesus in your heart. In spite of your pride, He stands knocking and waiting for you to open the door and ask Him in. It’s an incredibly simple plan that requires an incredibly simple response of child-like faith and a King David sized heart of boldness.

“The fact people think we are foolish is evidence that they are perishing.”

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the invitation of the cross. I know my sins have separated me from You, Lord. I ask that You forgive me of all of my sins. Give me the power to live for You all the days of my life. Thank You that You have made my relationship with You so simple. In humble faith, I give You my weaknesses and flaws and ask that Your glory be revealed in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 20th 2016 – Gifted with the Holy Spirit

images-302
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38 )
When Jesus left the earth, He promised us that He would not leave us as orphans.  He promised that He would give us One just like Himself, and that One is the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is not a little God, or something like a vapor, He is Almighty God, just like Jesus and God the Father are.
When the Holy Spirit came in Acts 2, He came in great power, and He has not changed.  Look at what God’s word says.
(Acts 2:1-4 ) “When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a noise like a strong, blowing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something like flames of fire that were separated and stood over each person there. 4They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak different languages by the power the Holy Spirit was giving them.”
The Holy Spirit came in a mighty wind and filled the house where they were, and they began to speak in tongues.  Too many people make tongues some kind of spooky thing.  It is not spooky.  It is the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives!  When the Holy Spirit fills us up and we start speaking in tongues, He speaks through us in a language that God understands.  It is a language that the devil cannot understand.  That is why He fights it so much.
Today, I want to encourage you to read these scriptures.  Then, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you to overflowing.  Listen to those words deep within you, and speak them out.  Jesus said the following.
(John 7:38-39) “…out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But then he spoke of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given…).”  Well, for us, He has been given, and I am full!  I pray today, that you are, or will be, too.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You and Thank You for Your presence in me through the Holy Spirit. Thank You for Your great love for me and for Your steadfastness. Your Word tells me that You will never change and that Your mercy endures forever. Lord, help me to to always find stability with You, my Rock.  Bring to mind Scriptures in my times of doubt and encouragements in my times of need. Fill me with Your Spirit daily so that I will always remain strong and steadfast in the faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
