September 10th 2019 – Incomprehensible Love

“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them, Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I am awake, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:17-18)

Have you ever tried to count the grains of sand on the seashore? For those of you who may have tried, you now know it is absolutely impossible! There are so many in just a scoop of your hand that it becomes incomprehensible to think that we could even begin to count them.

In this scripture verse, the psalmist tells us that God’s thoughts toward us even outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore! What imagery. The Father, who created you and who numbered all your days, is thinking about you all the time. He never stops thinking about you…And they are not thoughts of condemnation and judgement, but thoughts of absolute love and adoration. How precious are His thoughts toward us.

In our limited understanding, this is just too good to be true…but it is true. God is thinking about you right now!

“Jesus thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, it amazes me that your thoughts toward me outnumber the grains of sand on the seashore. And your thoughts towards me are loving thoughts! I pray that I might be able to receive this truth into my heart, so that I might be able to simply respond with loving thoughts back to you. I thank You for your sacrifice of your Son Jesus, it was the ultimate expression of Your love for us. Please forgive us for the times when we have questioned your love for us. I believe that You love us and have demonstrated that love once and for all through the cross. I pray that the truth of Your love for us will be the bedrock of my faith even during the times when I don’t feel loved. Wash me clean and use me for Your kingdom today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 8th 2019 – Don’t Let Sin Be Your Master

“Then the king of Egypt made Jehoahaz’s brother Eliakim king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother and carried him off to Egypt.” (2 Chronicles 36:4)

Throughout the Bible, we see Egypt presented as a picture of sin. It was a land of great wealth and power, but to Israel, it was a land of captivity and bondage. As Christians, we live in a world that is like biblical Egypt. The world desires to see us in bondage to its system. Whether you call it the “rat race” or “keeping up with the Joneses”, the world system will only leave you wanting more. We need to get off that road because it’s headed nowhere except over a cliff.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” (Philippians 2:5)

Instead of letting the world dictate our life, turn from the things and people that cause you to sin. We need to let God have control. Let the Word of God go into your eyes, your ears, your brain and your heart so that it will begin changing you from the inside out. Don’t be fooled by the “riches” of Egypt, rather experience the true riches of God.

“Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” (Romans 6:14)

“Change the way you think, and you change the way you live.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Give me eyes to see and a heart to receive Your Word. Help me to overcome the worldly way of thinking and instead begin thinking like Jesus. I pray that today would be the day that I change my life by walking in obedience to You. Help me to seperate myself from sin, from the things and people that cause me to sin. Seperate me noise and be still and quiet as Jesus often did. I trust You and am so greatful for all that You do in my life. I Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

September 7th 2019 -Salvation By Our Faith In Jesus

“Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)

This is the verse that started the reformation. It is quoted in Romans, Galatians and Hebrews. We are not saved by works; we are saved by grace. In other words, the faith that does not change your life will not save your soul.

“For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Paul is speaking of everyone who believes. Once you are forgiven, you begin to do things that honor God and in that He reveals His righteousness to those around us. Faith should be living and active. If you believe in what Jesus said, it should affect your life. You should begin loving God and loving people and you should want to go to church and hang out with other believers. These things are an overflowing of your faith. It starts with faith and overflows to good works. If you do not see good works as a result of your faith, you should be concerned. If we stand on our own righteousness then we stand ashamed. If we accept Jesus as our Savior and we stand in His righteousness, then we stand not ashamed.

“We are not saved by our works. We are saved by our faith in Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me and saving me by grace through faith. I know I am saved because of You, Jesus died to purchase my salvation.  Thank You that my salvation is not something I have to work for, but that it is by faith. Thank You for Your Grace. Lord, please show me opportunities to do good works in Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen

September 5th 2019 – More Than You Could Imagine

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Think of your most extravagant thought and then try to think of something way beyond your wildest dreams. Even if you have a vivid imagination, there will still be a limit to what you are able to comprehend. However, your Father does not have the same limitations that you have. He says that He is able to do immeasurably MORE than anything that you could ask or imagine.

The sky is the limit as far as He is concerned. He knows no earthly barriers or boundaries that will keep Him from fulfilling the best plans and purposes for His children.

We can choose to live our lives in the confines of our own natural understanding and perceived limitations, or we can choose to believe what God has promised for us. That He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us! Our Father is the biggest, strongest and most wonderful Dad in the universe and He has promised that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or imagine!

“God is able to do more for you than you could possibly imagine.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that You love me and You have a plan for me that is immeasurably more than I could ever possibly imagine. Thank You for giving me Your precious Holy Spirit who is at work in me to fulfill all that You have purposed for me. Help me to believe You for greater things in my life than my own human limitations can comprehend. Thank You for the truth in a world that has become full of lies. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

September 4th 2019 – The Lord’s Return is Near

“But don’t forget this, dear friends. . . . He isn’t really being slow about his promised return, even though it sometimes seems that way. But he is waiting, for the good reason that he is not willing that any should perish, and he is giving more time for sinners to repent.” (2 Peter 3:8-9)

Look around us,  everything is changing so quickly, there are hurricanes and floods, massive fire storms and earth quakes, wars and rumours of wars right before our eyes, and happening at such an alarming rate. Sinful man is out of control! If you have ever read the Holy Bible,  it should come as no suprise how this story goes.

Many people are asking, “Where is history heading?” A careful student of the Bible will be led to see that God controls the clock of destiny. Amid the world’s confusion, God’s omnipotent hand moves, working out His unchanging plan and purpose. Jesus Christ is coming to earth again. It is Christ who is in control, and He will determine the outcome.

George Whitefield, a great English evangelist, said, “I am waiting daily for the coming of the Son of God.” But he did not sit down and do nothing. He lived out the rest his life proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.” (1 Corinthians 15:52)

“Be ready, Jesus is coming back soon.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, deliver us from slothfulness, keep us  quickened to deliver Your message of salvation to everyone who will listen, until that day we die or You return again. We thank you for Your love and presence,  Lord protect us in this time so that we may continue share Your gosple until the very end. We praise You for the day when Jesus returns. Amen.

Ask Jesus into your life.

Jesus, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious name Amen.

September 3rd 2019 – Share you Testimony

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (Matthew 5:14-15)

One of the most important parts of carrying the Cross / being a disciple of Jesus is testifying what the Lord has done in our lives. We need to do it not because the Lord needs us to glorify Him and praise Him. It has the same reason why the Israelites were told to keep a pot of Manna in the Ark of Covenant / Testimonies.

The Lord asked them to keep some Manna in a golden pot in the Ark; the same Manna which fell every day (except for the Sabbath days), would usually go bad within a day, never spoiled when kept in the Ark for years. The Manna reminded them of the promise which the Lord gave with regards to provide for them till they entered the promise land.

Our testimonies are like the Manna kept in that precious pot which we hold within us. We need these testimonies to be kept fresh always within us so as to remind ourselves the promise the Lord has given us of providing for us until we enter our Promise Land which is Heaven.

Sharing our testimonies does encourage others but more than that by sharing it we encourage ourselves.

So all that the gracious Lord has done for you in your life keep it in your heart and do open your mouth and share it with others. By doing this you are not doing a favor unto others or to God but to your own self.

“The unbelieving world should see our testimony lived out daily because it just may point them to the Savior.” 

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You are God and all things are known unto You. You created everything and You also created man. You knew the strength and weakness of man, therefore gave us the Book of Instruction so as to guide us in our walk back unto You after being led astray. Lord, help us keep our weak hearts strong with all the glorious things which You have done for this unworthy me. Help us remember always and open our mouth and share it with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

September 2nd 2019 – For I am your provider

“So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat or What shall we drink or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:31-33 31)

One of the biggest causes of stress in our lives is the pressure we put on ourselves for daily provision. We work hard to provide for the necessities of life and can be anxious about our future. Will there be a recession? Will I still have a job? What about the mortgage? All of these questions are valid, but Jesus tells us that we don’t have to worry about all these things, because our Father in heaven knows what we need and wants to provide for us.

All we have to do is to have faith like little children, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness trusting that Father will care for us as He promised. My children have never worried about the mortgage. As teenagers, they were only beginning to understand the dynamics of our household budget. They have trusted that there will always be food on the table, a bed to sleep in, and clothes to wear. They had confidence that their father (me) would provide all of their needs and more.

They did not need to carry these kind of responsibilities on their shoulders because that was my job as their parent.

Now as grown adults with children of their own, they need to have childlike faith of their own to trust in the Lords provisions for their own lives. God wants us to become very little, so He can be very big in our lives. We don’t have to worry and strive about what we are going to eat, what we are going to wear, and where we are going to sleep. We have a Heavenly Father who has promised to look after all the details of our life. If He cares for the sparrows, who neither sow or reap or store into barns, how much more will He look after His own children!

“Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!” (Luke 12:24)

“For I am your provider and I meet all your needs.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father forgive me for the times that I worry about provisions in  my life. I confess that I have been anxious about many things. I know that You promised to provide everything I need because You are my Father. Help me to trust You with today’s provision and leave tomorrow’s needs in Your care. I want to seek You first today. I want to spend my time in relationship with You, trusting that all I need will be provided at the right time by my loving Heavenly Father. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus’ I pray, Amen.

Your Heavenly father loves you so very much! He wants to have a personal relationship with you.

September 1st 2019 – Will You Recognize Jesus in the Middle of the Storm?

“And the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. ‘It’s a ghost,’ they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’ ” (Matthew 14:24–27)

As Jesus approached the storm-tossed boat, the disciples saw Him, but didn’t recognize Him. In fact, at first His presence added to their terror. They thought they were seeing a ghost.

Reading their first reaction made me think of the fear-inducing situations I myself have faced. How often has Christ been present in my storm, but I didn’t recognized Him? Was He wearing the face of a person? Did He come from a direction I didn’t expect?

Perhaps I was so weary from rowing against the wind, I expected nothing but more bad news. When Christ speaks, He seems to ignore the immediate problem, saying, “Take courage! It is I.” If I were the disciples, I think I would have liked to hear, “It’s okay, I’ll tell the storm to stop now,” or “I’ll get in and help you row from here.” Perhaps I’d even appreciate a six-step plan for getting safely to shore.

Instead Jesus offers one key thing: the truth that He is present. I want God to respond to my trials with explanations for their existence, clear step-by-step plans for solving them and even a few promises about the value of enduring them. Yet here Jesus gives the disciples the answer He often gives me: “I’m here.” Sufficient. The answer I need. The answer powerful enough to propel me from the boat and onto the water, as Peter discovered as the scene continued. Jesus doesn’t provide a weather report, a new sailing technique or an empty pep talk. He gives me first what matters most: Himself.

“He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we call upon You in the middle of this storm, That You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life’s hardships that come a storms of life. When fear and panic, shock and dismay are close by, so are you. May we always recconize you ,  Keep us ever in Your watch until these storms of life pass. In Jesus’ precious and glorious name, Amen.

Prayer for those affected by the hurricanes. 

Heavenly Father, hear the humble voices of your children.  The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land and sea.  We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control.  The weather, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake and overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos and disaster.  During this hurricane season, we turn to You, our loving Father.  Spare Your children and cast protection around those who are caught in the midst of these storms, also those who risk their lives to rescue and help others.  We pray that your children will seek You and the lost will call on You, and come to know You. May they continue walk in Your footsteps even after the storm, and reach strive to reach to the Heavenly realm where a glorious and storm-less eternity awaits us. Amen.

August 31st 2019 – Close to His Heart

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” (Isaiah 40:11)

There are many illustrations in the Bible that speak of God’s desire for intimacy with mankind. This is one of my most favorite visual images! God uses an illustration of a loving shepherd to demonstrate how He feels about us.

Just for a moment, shut out the world around you and close your eyes. Try and visualize what God is saying through this picture with the eyes of your heart. Can you see the loving shepherd, gently picking up His little lambs in his big strong arms? Can you see the look on the shepherd’s face as He lovingly gazes down into the eyes of each lamb held close to His chest? What a picture of intimacy and safety.

There is no other place that these lambs would rather be at that moment in time. Their shepherd cares for them and has vowed to lay his life down for their protection. He has truly won their hearts. God wants us to know, that this is how He wants to relate to you and I. He is our shepherd and He wants to pick us up in His big strong arms and hold us tightly to His chest that we might feel the beating of His heart.

Can you be a little lamb who needs to be picked up and held? If you can, you will find a place of safety and rest that is better than anything you have ever experienced. If not you need to ask Jesus into your heart.

As a shepherd carries a lamb,  Jesus carries you close to His heart.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I ask that You would pick me up and gather me in Your big strong arms. I want to hear the beating of Your heart and to feel the warmth and safety of Your embrace. I know that You have made a special place reserved just for me. You are the Great Shepherd, and I am just a little lamb who needs to be held. Thank You for holding me close to Your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

August 30th 2019 – No More Tears

“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:3-4)

The first book of the Bible (Genesis) begins with an intimate interaction between God and man and the last book also ends in a similar fashion, with God Himself wiping every tear from our eyes. What a way to end the story! With our Heavenly Father bringing us on His knee to wipe away every tear from our eyes. Maybe it will be at that moment when we will realize that we are finally home.

I wonder if the tears we shed will be a mixture of joy at being in the Father’s presence, and relief that there will be no more death or mourning, no more crying or pain. Whatever the reason for our tears, the soothing comfort of a Father’s love will assuredly take away all our pain and make all our suffering but a distant memory. We have this promise, that at the end of all time, we will find ourselves in the arms of the Father. He will come and live with us and be our God and we will live with Him and be His people.

May this be the hope that we cling to for those who have gone before us in Christ and for us as well. While our temporal life on earth may soon come to an end, we have the hope of an eternity living near to the Father’s heart.

“One day, God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You that soon there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. When I look at this lost world and I see such hurt and lack of love for our fellow man, people killing one another and others starving to death. Without love and compassion for one another our lost world has become so desensitized. Without knowing you and good news of Your gospel what hope does our fellow man have? It is my prayer Lord that You will use your church and your modern disciples to reach out to this hurting world. That through You, marriages and relationships can be saved that otherwise would fail. That through You broken, damaged, and lost people can again have hope. That You have already paid the price to redeem them and make them a new creation in You. That Your Holy Spirit will inhabit them, and may they experience forgiveness and experience Your everlasting love. I know that You have promised to wipe away every tear from our eyes. I look forward to that day when I will see You face to face and be with You forever. Thank You for the incredible hope that I have because of Jesus. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus’ I pray, Amen.
