“But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 9:27)
“And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite from the country of Cyprus,” (Acts 4:36)
Barnabas exemplified the power of encouragement when he embraced Saul during a time of doubt and skepticism. Rather than turning away from him, Barnabas chose to uplift and support him. Encouraging someone is one of the simplest yet most profound ways to impact their spiritual journey. We often pray for those around us, but they may remain unaware of our intercessions. It’s through our acts of encouragement that they truly feel our support.
Do you enjoy receiving encouragement? Naturally! We all thrive on it, as it fuels our spirits and strengthens our resolve. It takes just a few moments to inspire someone, and a little effort can create a significant impact. So, the next time you find yourself in need of encouragement, consider extending a hand to uplift someone else.
“Inspire someone today with encouragement.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, use me as a vessel of encouragement today. Help me to identify those who are feeling down or in pain. Grant me the wisdom and strength to uplift them in their walk with You. For some, it may mean reminding them that their sins can be forgiven; for others, it may be affirming that they have been forgiven. Lord, empower me to encourage others just as I would wish to be encouraged. Thank You for Your constant support. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
In this profound moment of baptism, God affirms Jesus’ identity and expresses His pleasure. Yet, immediately following this declaration, in (Matthew 4:1-10) we see Jesus facing temptation in the wilderness after enduring a forty-day fast. The enemy seeks to undermine this divine affirmation by challenging Jesus with the words, “If You are the Son of God.”
This first temptation is crucial; it invites us to question our own identity in Christ. When we accept God’s gracious, unmerited gift of salvation, our identity is firmly established in the blood of Christ, which triumphs over the enemy. Imagine a first grader coming home with an ‘F’ on their report card, only to be told by a parent, “You are no longer my child—change your name and leave!” It’s unthinkable! Similarly, God does not cast us aside in our failures, for His love is unwavering and never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8).
Consider a drooping plant in a garden. A skilled gardener wouldn’t uproot it and throw it away. Instead, they would place a wooden stake next to it, helping the plant stand tall while being supported. This is a picture of our lives in Christ—leaning not on our own efforts, but fully depending on the grace that God provided through Jesus on the cross, allowing us to grow in Him.
“The enemy aims to make you doubt who you are and whose you are, leading you to strive for what has already been graciously given.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sacrificing Yourself so that I might find my identity in You as Your beloved child. Help me to continually remember the grace You have extended to me at the cross, that I may live for You in every season of life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)
If you are a parent of an adult child who struggles with substance abuse and other destructive behaviors, such as disrespect, dishonesty, and stealing, it can be heart-wrenching. It often raises feelings of helplessness, frustration, and sorrow. Yet, the Bible offers us guidance on how to navigate these challenging circumstances with grace and wisdom.
Pray for Them: Our first response should be to pray. James 5:16 reminds us that “the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Pray for your child’s heart to be softened, for their eyes to be opened, and for the Holy Spirit to work in their lives. Trust that God is bigger than their struggles and that He can bring about change in His perfect timing.
Set Boundaries with Love: While it is painful to see our children make poor choices, it’s essential to establish healthy boundaries. Ephesians 4:15 encourages us to speak the truth in love. This means being honest about the impact of their actions on themselves and others, while also expressing your love and concern. Boundaries can protect both you and your child and encourage them to take responsibility for their actions.
Model Christ-like Behavior: As parents, we have the opportunity to model the love and grace of Christ. Galatians 6:1 instructs us to restore someone caught in sin gently. This can mean showing kindness, patience, and understanding, even when it feels undeserved. Your example can be a powerful influence in their lives.
Encourage Professional Help: Sometimes, the struggles our children face require professional intervention. Encourage them to seek counseling or rehabilitation. Proverbs 15:22 states, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.” Providing them with resources or support in finding help can show that you care about their well-being.
Stay Connected: Maintaining a relationship with your child, despite their choices, is vital. 1 Peter 4:8 reminds us to “love each other deeply.” This may mean showing unconditional love, even when you disagree with their actions. Regularly check in, offer support, and let them know they are not alone.
Trust in God’s Plan: Finally, remember that God has a plan for your child, even when it seems lost. Jeremiah 29:11 reassures us that God knows the plans He has for us, plans to prosper and not to harm us. Hold onto this promise, trusting that God can turn their life around, no matter how hopeless it may seem.
“As you walk this difficult path, remember that you are not alone. Lean on your faith, seek community support, and trust in God’s unfailing love for you and your child. As hard as it may be, try to embrace the journey with hope and perseverance, knowing that change is possible with Jesus.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heavy heart for my child. I ask for Your grace and wisdom to navigate this challenging relationship. Help me to love them as You love them, to set boundaries that protect both of us, and to pray fervently for their transformation. May Your will be done in their life, and may they come to know Your love and redemption. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, and He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3)
“Even though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”(Psalm 23:4)
In Psalm 23:1-3, we see how the Shepherd leads, guides, helps, and loves us. However, Psalm 23:4 shifts the focus to our experiences. There will be times when we don’t listen and find ourselves in difficult situations, referred to as “the valley of the shadow of death.”
Have you ever felt lost, wondering, “How did I get here?” Sometimes, it’s because of our own choices or not taking the time to listen to the Shepherd’s voice. We may open doors that should have remained closed.
Even during these tough times, the Great Shepherd does not abandon us. He promises to never leave us or forsake us. This assurance is powerful: “I will fear no evil, for YOU ARE WITH ME!” When we make mistakes, it’s important to own up to them, and He will forgive and restore us.
Even when we stray, our Shepherd uses His mighty rod and staff to guide us back and bring comfort. What security and hope we find in our amazing Jesus!
So take heart: there is no sin too great for the blood of Jesus to cleanse. Rest in His loving arms and feel His heartbeat as you lean on Him. He loves you and will always protect you from anything the enemy tries to bring against you, even when you make mistakes.
“Remember, once you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, He will never leave you or abandon you.“
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus that has made me pure. I am grateful that no matter what challenges I face, or even when I walk through difficult times, You are there to comfort and restore me. What an incredible God I serve. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”(Matthew 24:42-44)
In the hustle and bustle of life, it’s easy to lose sight of the most profound truth we hold as Christians: Jesus Christ will return. This event, often referred to as the Rapture, is not just a future promise; it is an imminent reality. Jesus Himself spoke of His return, likening it to a thief in the night. This metaphor serves as a reminder that His coming will be unexpected and sudden, urging us to remain vigilant and prepared. As we navigate the profiting events in our lives—those moments of spiritual growth, service, and reflection—let us not forget the urgency of being ready for His return. Each day presents us with opportunities to deepen our faith, share the Gospel, and live in a manner that reflects Christ’s love and grace.
In a world filled with uncertainty, we can find peace knowing that God is in control. The signs of the times may seem overwhelming, but they are also a call to action. They remind us to keep our hearts aligned with God’s purpose and to be lights in the darkness.
As you reflect on this devotion, consider the following questions:
Am I living in a way that prepares my heart for Christ’s return?
What steps can I take today to share the hope of the Gospel with others?
How can I stay spiritually vigilant in my daily life?
“In a moment, everything can change. Let us be found faithful, watching and waiting for our Savior, who promises to come again. Keep your lamps trimmed and your hearts open, for the King is coming!”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your Son’s return. Help me to live each day in anticipation of that moment, ready and waiting for Jesus to come. May I remain steadfast in my faith, sharing Your love and truth with those around me. Grant me the wisdom to recognize the signs of the times and the courage to act in accordance with Your will. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

“Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. (1 Peter 4:12-13)
It has been said that Christians are a lot like teabags; you don’t know what they’re made of until you put them into hot water. Maybe you’re in hot water right now. Maybe you’re going through what we might describe as a fiery trial. The good news is you are not the first person to go through it, and certainly will you be the last. Know that you are not alone in your trial.
And here is something else to consider: going through a trial or a temptation is a confirmation that you are on the right track as a Christian. If you were to say, “You know, as a Christian I can’t remember the last time I was tempted,” my question would be, “What is wrong with you?” I know personally that the devil sets his sights on those who are a threat to the kingdom of God.
You shouldn’t be surprised or shocked if you are tempted or tested. In (1 Peter 4:12–13) we’re told, “Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.”
Hardship, temptation, tragedy, and the loss of loved one’s will come into our lives one day. Trials and temptations will come too. Take steps now to be prepared for that. Don’t say, “That will never happen to me.”
It will happen to you. Life is filled with pain. Granted, some have more than others, but every life will have some. We should gather this truth into our hearts so we are prepared when trials and temptations come our way.
“Trials and temptations will come. Take steps now to be prepared for that.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we call upon You in the middle of trials, That You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of Your divine compassion. Protect us in our temptations. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life’s trials and temptations that come in our of life. When fear and panic, shock and dismay are close by, so are you. Maywe always recconize you , Keep us ever in Your watch until these storms of life pass. In Jesus’ precious and glorious name, Amen.

“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)
Do you ever waste time? Let me rephrase the question: Do you have a television or a smartphone?
There are so many television channels now. Yet I can sit with a remote control in hand and hardly find a single thing worth watching. I’ve also found myself wasting a lot of time doing so. And then came the smartphones, which people can’t seem to stop looking at. They look at them while they’re driving. They look at them standing in line at the store. They look at them while they’re walking in the cross walk. Everyone is sidetracked with this current technology, and I wonder how much time we waste. I believe that the enemy’s plan is to distract people with so much information, which is so unblibical that it dulls our hearts. Making us believe that we need look a particular way or possess certain things to be accepted by others. Many spend so much time posting the most mundane details about their life online. Which in fact is a complete waist of not only their time but the time of others reading it and responding.
Jesus told His followers that these spiritual distraction begins with hearts that have grown dull, ears that are hard of hearing, and eyes that are closed. Using the illustration of a farmer scattering seed, Jesus compared the seed that fell among thorns to a person who hears God’s Word but whose heart is focused on other things.
“The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.” (Matthew 13:22)
I’m convinced that when we get to Heaven, we’ll see things much differently. I think some things that we will have thought of as good during our lives on this earth may not be perceived as good in the same way. We think that good obviously means excellent health, having lots of money. We think good means having a successful career, driving nice cars. I am not saying these things are bad. But maybe they won’t be as good as we once thought they were.
On the other hand, we may think of any kind of a setback, sickness, or failure in life as a horrible thing. But I think that when we get to Heaven, we will realize that some of those setbacks and failures actually produced more spiritual fruit in our lives than the so-called good things. Things are not always as they appear.
There is great value in having times throughout each day when we turn off the distractions of mind and heart and focus on our relationships with others, especially the one with the Lord.
“It isn’t good to waste time, but it’s much worse to waste a life”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to turn off all the distractions around me, and make time to focus on the relationships that matter the most. Forgive me when our time together get aside because of the distractions, from this day forward may I not allow the distractions to take from the real things that are important. Open my heart to Your word and may my heart be good soil for the seed of Your Word today. In Jesus precious name Amen.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
In our journey of faith, we often encounter situations that tug at our hearts—moments when we see others in distress, struggling with challenges that seem insurmountable. As Christians, we are called to love and serve others, yet it’s essential to recognize our limitations and the importance of turning to prayer when we cannot directly intervene.
The Bible teaches us about the wisdom of discernment. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are encouraged to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” This reminds us that while our intentions to help are noble, we must also seek divine guidance in how to act.
There may be times when we encounter situations that overwhelm us—whether it’s a friend facing financial hardship, a stranger in need, Maybe it’s the thought of so many pets that needs homes but you do not have the means to save them. It seems too vast for our individual efforts to save them all. In these moments, we are reminded that our ability to help is not solely defined by our resources. Instead, we can turn to God in prayer, seeking His wisdom, comfort, and guidance for those in need.
Prayer is a powerful tool. It allows us to express our concerns, ask for strength for those in distress, and seek God’s intervention in their lives. James 5:16 encourages us to “pray for each other so that you may be healed.” Through prayer, we can support others spiritually, even when we cannot provide physical assistance.
Moreover, prayer cultivates a sense of community. When we pray for others, we become part of a larger tapestry of support, relying on God to work through the hearts and hands of many. Our prayers can inspire others to act, and collectively, we can make a difference.
In conclusion, while it’s natural to want to help those in need, we must recognize when we lack the means to do so effectively. In those moments, let us turn to prayer, trusting that God hears our cries and works in ways beyond our understanding. Through prayer, we align our hearts with His will, and even if we cannot provide immediate help, we can be assured that we are making a difference in the spiritual realm.
“May this devotion serve as a reminder that while our desire to help is essential, relying on prayer can be a powerful and meaningful way to support others when direct action is not feasible.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, We come before You with humble hearts, recognizing our limitations and the overwhelming needs of the world around us. We thank You for the call to love and serve others, and we seek Your wisdom in discerning how best to respond to those in need.
Lord, help us to be sensitive to the struggles of others, yet grant us the discernment to know when we can truly make a difference and when we should turn to You in prayer. In moments where we feel helpless, remind us that our prayers are powerful and that You are always at work, even when we cannot see it.
We lift up those who are suffering, struggling, and in need of Your comfort and provision. Surround them with Your love, and may they feel Your presence in their lives. We ask that You inspire those who can help to step forward and provide assistance, and may we be willing vessels to support others in whatever way You lead us.
Help us to trust in Your plan, knowing that You hear our prayers and are compassionate towards every situation. May our hearts be filled with love and empathy, and may our prayers be a source of strength for those who are hurting. Thank You for Your unwavering love and guidance. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.” (Proverbs 5:1-2)
Every living person has choices to make. No matter the size, we all must choose. The question is not whether or not we will have to make a decision; rather the question is, “What will we base that decision on?” In the book of Proverbs, God delivers great wisdom to all of humanity. Some of it is common sense and other parts of it are contrary to what we would normally believe. So, why would God give us all these bits of wisdom? Because He is a loving Father desiring to see His children live a blessed life.
Understanding the reality of God’s wisdom in scripture is easy enough, using it to guide our lives is the tough part. For instance, Proverbs may speak of the blessings of correction but who really praises God when they are called out for doing something wrong? He also warns us against the dangers of all sin, even laziness and pride, yet each day we all forget or flat out reject these truths. So what is the solution? First, we must know God’s Word and trust that it is best. Secondly, we need to ask His Holy Spirit to strengthen us to walk in God’s wisdom. When we are directed by God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit, we will find our life is truly blessed.
“God’s wisdom brings a preferred choice or direction for experiencing His best in our lives.”
Prayer:
Heavenly father, I know that I have made some foolish choices in the past. I desire to understand Your ways and to live by them because they are best. Fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit so that I can understand Your Word as well as put it into practice. Even in those times I fall short, I will praise You for the grace I find in Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore, I have spoken about things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. ‘Listen, and I will speak; I will ask you, and you will answer me.’ I had heard of you through others, but now my own eyes see you; therefore, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:1-6)
One thing that often puzzles many believers is that when we choose to follow God, He doesn’t shield us from difficult times, even though He has the power to do so. God allows us and our choices to lead to troubles, pain, and suffering. Yet, He is also the God who can heal those wounds.
The most devoted followers of Jesus, those with deep Christ-like character, have likely faced struggles during their journey. This is because the challenges we encounter can deepen our faith.
When we experience hurt, we often emerge from the pain with greater compassion for others. We become more empathetic. Similarly, our wounds can make us more forgiving, understanding, and gracious, while teaching us to be slower to judge. Pain can strip away our pride and cultivate our compassion. Each specific wound can enhance particular virtues. Going through hardships helps us appreciate life more. Illness makes us value good health. Difficult times put life into perspective and help us recognize what truly matters. Sometimes, we keep getting hurt by repeating the same actions or staying with the same people. This recurring pain may be a sign that we haven’t learned a vital lesson yet. Trust that God will help you through it.
“God often uses our difficulties and wounds to help us grow. These experiences make us wiser.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for being present during my struggles. I pray that the wounds I’ve experienced during these tough times help me to see and respond to the world more like Jesus, rather than reacting from my fleshly instincts. May these trials draw me closer to Him. I understand that sometimes You allow us to hurt, knowing there is beauty and purpose in the pain. Thank you for those pains and the lessons they bring. Lord God, I appreciate the insights you will reveal through my trials. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
