October 1st 2015 – Sword of the Spirit

images-253

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God;” (Ephesians 6:17)

Here we are with a offensive weapon.  It is for protection The sword of the Spirit.  The Bible tells us what this weapon is, it is the Word of God.

As we get the Word into our heart and speak it with our mouth, as we take God’s Word and make it sharp within us, it causes the enemy to flee. Look at how it states it in (Hebrews 4:12-13) “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

God’s Word on our lips in faith will destroy the works of the enemy in our lives and the lives of the people that we are praying for.  God’s Word does not return void, it always accomplishes what it was set out to do.  When we pick up this powerful weapon, the Word, we need to believe it in our hearts and say it with our mouths and we will see the manifestation of what we are saying.

This is the way we got saved.  Look with me at (Romans 10:8-10)  “But what does it say? ‘The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart ‘ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

So today, get His Word within you and then release it with your mouth.  You will see the devil and his demons flee as you use your sword in a powerful way.

Heavenly Father, I praise you for Your living word you gave us in the Holy Bible. As I speak Your Word and I watch the devil flees.  Your Word never returns without doing what it set out to do when I speak it by faith.I thank you for leaving these tools for us to defend ourselves against the enemy. I love and praise You! In Your precious Name. Amen!

September 30th 2015 – Ignorance is Not Bliss

2015-09-30-01-13-36--723461794

“My people are destroyed (perish) for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6)

Too many Christians go through life not living in the blessing of God, yet they are available to everyone.  You might say, “Why is that?”  Well, this verse in the Old Testament tells us pretty clearly in the first part, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”.  You see, when we don’t take time to dig into the Word of God and see the many promises that God our loving Father has given to us, then we live only in this world system, and this world system is passing away.

Think about it.  How would I know about salvation unless I read it in the Bible or heard someone preach this truth from the Bible?  It’s the same with the fruits of the Spirit or healing or provision or any other benefit that the Bible has for us.  Also, too many Christians are living on second hand knowledge, and this is OK, but there is something very special when you open your own Bible and have the Holy Spirit speak to your heart.  At that point it becomes so real that no devil can take it from you.

Try it and you will see that God’s Word truly doesn’t return void but it will accomplish what it was sent out to do.  Read His Word for yourself.  Don’t say, “I don’t understand it”.  That’s a lie from the devil.  The Bible is God’s love letter to you.  Read it that way, read it over and over.  See what it says about you.

You will find a treasure like never before.  You will find bushels of blessings that will last you throughout all your life.  Think of all the time that you spent watching a show on TV that you won’t even remember in a week.  You could have taken some of that time and read His Word that will last you for eternity.  So go ahead, make that decision to read His Word and you will not lack in any good thing.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come to you Lord with praise and love for you. Please forgive us for getting caught up in all of the distractions of this world. I confess to make a quality decision today to read the Word and to be a doer of it.  Today, I am going for a treasure that will last for all eternity and not just a television season. Today, I chose to make a decision to seek more holy spirit fellowship with you and not the internet search engines. Your Holy Word will last us an eternity. Thank you for loving me. In your precious name, Amen.

September 29th 2015 – Eternal Life

images-83

Yesterday I received a call from my friend, He had just received the news that his grandma had suddenly passed away.  She had a intrgral part in his life, at one point his grandmother had even stepped in and raised him. I had no words to say to him that could change the fact that she was gone. However I did tell him that I would pray for him and his family. I am greatful to have found out that his Grandma loved Jesus and had asked Jesus into her heart many years ago. We know that she is now with Jesus.

So today’s devotion outlines how we to can have Eternal Life after accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Scripture

“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:11-13)

When we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, everything changed.  Before being born again we were living dead men.  We might have had breath and been able to walk around, but inside we were spiritually dead.  We didn’t have the life of God within us, we were living but dead.

But once we received God’s great gift of salvation, we received His life, the life of God, eternal life.  So many believe that we will receive eternal life when we get to heaven, but according to this verse we have eternal life now.  The way we received it, is believing in the Son.

It says in (John 1:4) ” In Him was life, and the life was the light of men”.  Jesus is the light of the world and He is our light.  When we look to Him there is no darkness at all.  He has the words of life, and he gives eternal life to all that would come to Him. This eternal life will last forever, for it is eternal.  You might say well, yes, I see that, but do you?

When the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit took up residence within us, it changed us from the inside out. No longer are we just a sinner and glad that when we die we will get to go to heaven.  No, now He dwells within us and has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.  He has filled us up with Himself and has given to each of us eternal life.

So today, don’t see yourself as a sinner, see yourself as raised up with Christ and sitting with Him in heavenly places.  See His eternal life abiding in you, healing you, restoring whatever this world has tried to steal from you.  If you do this, you will see a change on the outside too.

If you do not know Jesus or have a personal relationship with Him please click here to learn how to accept His salvation and love today.

If you have received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, in doing this you have within you today, the life of God.  You have eternal life within you and it sets you free in all areas of life.

Prayer

My precious Lord!I come to You with a broken heart for my friend that recently lost his grandmother. Please be with him and his family, comfort them, provide them with supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding. In this time of grievance, I ask that you would reveal yourself personally to my friend, may he feel your overwhelming love and presence in his life. I thank you that he is seeking you in this time of loss. Thank you for the promise that with you we will see our loved ones again in heaven “Eternally”. We praise You and love You Lord in all situations. In Your precious name..Amen.

September 28th 2015 – Eternal Reservation

2015-09-28-00-42-27--1036482923

“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)

Jesus, in this verse, is telling us not to rejoice just because spirits are subject to us, but to rejoice because our names are written in heaven.  Have you ever made a reservation for dinner at a restaurant or maybe at an event and you get there and you tell them your name and they say, yes, you have reservations for two.

Well this scripture is saying just about the same thing. Jesus went before us and because we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior we now have reservations in heaven.  We go to the restaurant or hotel and they open their book to see if our name is in there, and the Bible says that God does the same thing.

On that day, He will open the Book of Life and say to us, yes, you have believed on the Name of my Son. Yes, you have received the gift of salvation, the gift that only Jesus can give. Come, enter into my presence and enjoy the reservation that has been set from the foundations of the world.

I don’t know about you, but for me, I’m going to dance and lift my hands and say, “Thank you Jesus, for going to the cross for me and shedding your blood for me. Thank you for dying for my sins and because of what you have done for me, I will now live with you for all eternity.”

If this is Good News for you today, think of someone you can share this great truth with. Today, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Today you have have a eternal reservation.

September 27th 2015 – Jesus, The One True Superhero!

2015-09-26-23-46-22--1036482923

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalms 27.1)

There is so much comfort in this verse.  Our Lord is our light, He is the One who gives us direction even when things seem dark.  He enlightens our path that we do not trip or fall.  He is there to give us salvation, or as this word means, safety, soundness, deliverance, and healing.

How can we fear anything that life or the enemy would bring?  Our Lord is with us twenty-four seven.  He promised us that He would never leave us or forsake us.

The Lord is the strength of our lives.  We see all the movies lately with all these superheroes in them.  Well, there is no superhero like Jesus.  He died for me and then conquered the greatest villain that there is, satan, and defeated him and made a show of him publicly.  That’s a true superhero, that’s a conqueror.  Our Jesus didn’t just win the battle, He won the battle and then gave us the victory.  That’s why we don’t have to fear. The Greater One won the battle, gave us the victory and told the loser, you will follow the rules.

So today, see Him as the strength of your life.  See Him as your light and comfort.  The clearer you see Him, the less you will see the enemy.  As God gets bigger to you, the devil and the problems of life get smaller.

I see my Jesus as big and I see the devil and his lies as small.  I see my God as my superhero and everything must bow its knee to Him. He is the Greater One and He lives in me.

Prayer

Lord, there are marvelous things that I do not know, nor can I comprehend. Things that happen in my life, and things that happen in our friends lives. Lord, I desire to be thankful, to appreciate everything that comes across my path.Lord, so often life hurts, I get angry — upset, I do not understand, yet Lord You ask me to be thankful for everything, and have faith – Thank You for being my Super Hero…

September 26th 2015 – Quiet Time with God

2015-09-26-04-38-23-1881756555

“I have…treasured his words more than daily food.” (Job 23:12)

Your quiet time with God is more than just a good idea, it’s vital to your spiritual survival. It’s also essential to your spiritual growth and maturity. You say, “But I go to church every week.” Can you imagine what would happen if you ate only once a week? The patriarch Job said, “I have…treasured his words more than daily food.” Peter described the Scriptures as nourishing milk.

“LIke newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment” (1 Peter 2:2)

The writer to the Hebrews called the Word of God solid food.

“Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.” (Hebrews 5:14).

Your quiet time is also like a spiritual bath. Jesus said, “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” (John 15:3).

You shower every day to stay clean and avoid body odors. It’s not easy to be around someone who smells bad, and you run the risk of offending them by telling them so. But if you love them you’ll do it. Jesus told Peter, “Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” (Matthew 16:23).

Here’s the bottom line. Unless you protect your quiet time with God:

(1) You’ll be cut off from your source of strength, guidance, and wisdom;

(2) Your usefulness to God will be limited;

(3) You’ll be inconsistent in your Christian life.

You may say, “But I don’t have time!” You have the same 168 hours each week that everybody else has! And how you spend them is determined by what you think is most important. So if you think being in fellowship with God is important, begin to make time for it.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I am so greatful and blessed for the time we spend together every morning. I pray that you would draw me even closer.i love you Lord and Thank you for guiding me through this life.. in your precious name, Amen.

September 25th 2015 – In the Name of the Lord

2015-09-25-00-19-56--1036482923

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)

The Name of Jesus, to us that believe in that Name, is a very strong place to be.  In His Name there is protection, in His Name there is provision, in His Name there is safety and even comfort.

It is to the Name of Jesus that demons must bow, it is in that Name that prayers are answered.  Let’s look at a few scriptures today that show us these great truths.

(Philippians 2:9-11) “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

(Mark 16:17) “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

(John 14:13-14) “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

These are just a few of the many Scriptures that show that all power is given in that Name.  No wonder satan tries to downgrade the Name.  But we, who are called by His great Name, love and respect His Name, THE NAME OF JESUS!

Prayer,

Dear Jesus Today, we look to the power of Your name and proclaim that You are Lord and that through Your name we can cast out demons and can heal the sick. It is in Your Name that we also see our prayers answered.  We paise to You Lord Jesus. Amen

September 24th 2015 – Lay it on the Alter, Let it Go..

  • images-136

“Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, Abraham!” And he said, Here I am.” (Genesis 22:1-3)

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

While it’s often a struggle to put everything on the altar, one thing I’ve learned is that you don’t have to understand how God will accomplish His plans. All He asks is that you surrender your will to His and trust that He will show you the way forward (Prov. 3:5-6). Abraham’s willingness to give up what was most precious to him came from his unyielding faith in the Lord’s trustworthiness.

However, if you tell God no because He won’t explain why He wants us to do something, we are actually hindering His blessing. But when we say yes to Him, heaven opens to pour out His goodness and reward our obedience. What matters more than material blessings are the things He is teaching us in our spirit. But don’t mistake His way of rewarding as being like a parent who withholds a treat until the child does as he’s told. Rather, obeying the Lord naturally positions us to receive what He is already trying to give us and accomplish in our lives. So, when we fail to trust Him and refuse to do what He says, we are the ones choosing to close ourselves off from those good things.

What has God asked you to do? Have you only partially cooperated? Or have you, like Abraham, given up your need to understand and then obeyed completely?

If the Lord says to give more than you think you’re able to give, know that He will provide. Whether things are running smoothly or the bottom has dropped out, He is always trustworthy. You can count on almighty God to keep His everlasting Word.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, We go along each day, trying to run life our own way. We forget to let go and give You control. We often wonder why things aren’t going the way we want them to go. We forget to stop and ask what you want, Lord.  Please help us to give you control, Jesus. We want to follow you, and want what you desire for each of us.

Help us to realize that when you close one door, you open the one you want us to walk through. Help each of also to realize that what we desire may not be what is meant for us, or what is best. Often it will lead us away from what your great plans are for our lives.

Lord, let us accept each day as a gift. Let us follow the path you have chosen for each of us. Help us to be thankful for what you give us and not to worry about Our needs.

Help us, dear Jesus, be who and what you want us to be. Give us strength, faith and hope, and most of all, give each of us guidance every day. May we let go and give You all control.. In your precious name, Amen.

September 23rd 2015 – When our world falls apart.

images-119

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28)

A father was trying to take his Sunday afternoon nap but having little success because his young son kept waking him up with the complaint, “Daddy, I’m bored.” The father knew he needed to come up with some kind of plan to keep the little boy occupied, or there would be no nap. He glanced at the newspaper lying on the coffee table and had what he thought was a brilliant plan to keep his son busy and give him more time to sleep.

The father picked up the paper and pointed to a picture of the world on the front page. “This is a picture of the world, but it is also a puzzle,” the father explained. He then ripped the picture into about fifty pieces, handed them to his young son and said, “I want you to put it all back together.” He lay down to finish his nap, thinking he would get at least another hour of sleep.

In about fifteen minutes, the little boy woke him up saying, “Daddy, I’ve got it finished. It’s all put together.” The father could not believe it. His son was too young to know much about geography. “How did you do that?” he asked in amazement. “Dad, there was a picture of a person on the back page of that newspaper, and when I got my person put together, the world looked fine.”

Pain can rip our lives apart. We frantically try to find some way to put it all back together, but the broken pieces don’t seem to fit anymore. What then?

Trust God. Like the children of Israel, just stick your toes in the water, and watch God part the raging sea before you.

You may not always understand or even like His process, but you can always trust His heart of love for you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I choose to believe You are faithful and will do what You promise to do in Your Word. I believe that when I lay my pain and hurt at Your feet, You can and will transform it all into something beautiful. I choose to believe You will turn the broken places of my life into living illustrations of Your sufficiency and healing power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 22nd 2015 – When we Experience Jesus

images-240

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life– the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us– that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” (1 John 1:1-4)

Our life, our fellowship with the Father, is all because of Jesus.  When you make Jesus the Lord of your life and His power comes within you it changes everything.  We can say that it is a game changer.  You see, when I try to do things on my own, then I have my own power to help me overcome.  But when I let His life live big within me, I’m letting the life of the Eternal One, the very life of God Himself, reign within me.

Think of it like this.  We live in a world of computers.  If I wanted to figure out some big problem with my own mind it might never get done but if I put the information into a computer that has the software to figure it out, it will get done in no time.  So it is with us.  Our Heavenly Father has been here forever and knows the answer to all of life’s problems.  He wants us to fellowship with Him through His Son Jesus, and when we do, all of a sudden it seems like things that seemed so big seem to get in line.

So today, don’t look to the problem, look to the Greater One Who lives within you.  Fellowship with Him.  Give Him a place of dominance in your life and watch how everything in life gets in line.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Today, I look to the You who lives within me. when all is darkness and we feel our weakness and helplessness, give us the sense of Your presence, Your love, and Your strength. Help us to have perfect trust in Your protecting love and strengthening power, so that nothing may frighten or worry us, for, living close to You, we shall see Your hand, Your purpose, Your will through all things. I thank You and love You Jesus,  Amen
