March 8th 2016 – Wells Without Water

images-135

“These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.” (2 Peter 2:17)

In the book of 2 Peter, the apostle Peter is sharing the sad truth about false teachers. In the description above, He calls them wells without water. What a brilliant way to describe someone who pretends to have the Truth of God. Imagine as people come to hear this Truth but are disappointed because there is no real living water to drink from. All they find is an well that contains no water.

The Truth is that God desires to give us His living water and make our lives fruitful. In order to do this, He calls us to connect with Him through His Son Jesus. This is not simply a religious routine, it’s a life-changing relationship. Jesus described it this way…

(John 15:5 )”Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

As we spend time with Jesus in prayer, reading His Word and fellowshipping with His people, we will find ourselves living fruitful lives. The reason is simple; we are visiting the deep life-giving well of the Lord Jesus Christ. His well is filled to overflowing, and He welcomes everyone to drink deep and thirst no more.

“Without Jesus Christ, our life will be fruitless and wasted.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the refreshing water of life that is found in Jesus. God, You tell us that when we connect to this water, we will also have living waters coming from us. Fill my life to overflowing so that I would be a fruitful worker of the Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Have you ever eacknowledged Jesus as you Lord and Savior? If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. March 7th 2016 – Don’t Complicate Your Faith!

2016-03-07-06-55-49--14551328

“The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.” (John 5:15)

How quickly this man was turned into a witness for the Lord; and it happened on the same day he had met Jesus!  Im sure he still had problems in his life like all of us, but he didn’t let those things hinder his witness. He began to tell people about Jesus who had healed him and made him whole. He was very sincere, very simple and unhindered by problems of the past.

I think sometimes we try to complicate things when it comes to telling people about Jesus when it’s really very simple. One of the most powerful tools we have in sharing our faith is simply telling people what Jesus has done in our own lives – the simple yet compelling testimony of God’s goodness. We should tell everyone what God has done in our lives and we should begin to do it one by one. Let’s not stop until the whole world hears.

“We should be sharing what He has done in our lives when we are talking about Jesus. Dont complicate your faith”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me. Empower me to be a witness to the ends of the world, starting in my home, my neighborhood and my work. I once was blind and now I see. Help me to keep it simple. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 6th 2016 – Grace to You, Peace from God

images-175

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:2)

Grace and Peace. It’s two words we use a lot in Christianity, but do we truly understand what it means? To some, grace is just a prayer you say before eating, but in reality, grace is a life changing experience. Each of us is born into this world with a problem. That problem is that we are enemies of God. Because of our sin, we are at war with God and therefore, we deserve punishment. This tension between us and God leads to frustration, anxiety and fear. After all, if I know that I have done bad things, how am I supposed to make up for them? Can I do good things to outweigh it? No. Can I punish myself to satisfy God? No. The only solution for complete peace with God is His grace.

(Ephesians 2:8) “For By grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,”

When we admit to God that we are sinners and believe in Jesus for forgiveness, we experience His grace. God gives us forgiveness, love and eternal rewards not because we are good, but because HE is God. This is grace. When we understand this grace, we have peace. Peace to know that God is with us. Peace even in the storms of life because we know that God is on our side. While the world uses drugs, alcohol, sex and money to achieve temporary peace, God offers eternal peace. This peace doesn’t come from us earning it, but from the perfect grace of a loving God.

“If you have never learned grace, you will never know peace.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we praise and love You. Thank You for the grace that comes through Jesus. Because of this amazing grace, I can have true peace. No matter what today throws at me, I can know that Your love is true and Your forgiveness is real. May these Truths stay in the front of my mind and may You use me to share this peace with others today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 5th 2016 – A Heavenly Home

images-147

“Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;” (2 Peter 3:14)

Some say, “It’s hard to beleive or It’s just wishful thinking.” God says it is reality. What am I talking about? I’m talking about a Christian’s future home in Heaven. This place of perfect beauty where the streets are gold and the river of living water flows. No more tears, no more pain and no more evil. This is the place we look forward to.

(Revelation 21:2) “Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ”

So why did God give us such a vivid picture of Heaven? Just like a loving father desires to give good gifts to His children, God wanted us to catch a glimpse of the home He has prepared for us. This picture of Heaven was given to inspire us to persevere through this life. God wanted to, once again, show His love to us. He showed His love through the death and resurrection of Jesus, and now He shows us that His love for us extends into eternity in a place where God dwells with man. Now, with that inspirational look into Heaven, we are able to walk in joyful obedience to God. Loving God, loving others and changing this world. Are you ready? Take a long look at our future home and then let that inspire you to tell others how they can get there.

“Let God’s love motivate us to live for Him.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your amazing love. Not only did You give us eternal life through faith in Jesus, but we also have the hope of Heaven where there is great beauty and no pain. God, fill my thoughts with Your heavenly home so that I will be inspired to persevere through this world, sharing Your love with others and pointing them to a new home in Heaven. In Jesus’ name, Amen

March 4th 2016 – Don’t be Late

images-259

“Now Israel pleads with me, ‘Help us, for you are our God!’ But it is too late. The people of Israel have rejected what is good, and now their enemies will chase after them.” (Hosea 8:2-3)

Have you ever gone looking for something but were unable to find it? Do you remember how frustrating it was to need something but to not be able to have it? What if that something or someone you needed was the key to a life and death situation? Would you seek more urgently or would you put it off hoping things turn out OK in the end? Sadly, many in our world are faced with the reality of sin and death yet never look to the One who holds the keys to life.

(Isaiah 55:6) “Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.”

Our Heavenly Father stands over us desiring to rescue us from our sin. He made a way for us to be rescued through His Son, Jesus, who died in our place. His death and resurrection created a life raft to safety for anyone who would call on His name. The raft is there, but we must respond before it is too late. If you are reading this and do not know if you’ve responded to God’s offer of rescue and new life, then I encourage you to pray the prayer below. If you have experienced God’s saving power and the hands of rescue through Jesus Christ, then I challenge you to look for others sinking in darkness. Share the life-saving Truth of Jesus with them so that they too can be saved. Its as simple as sending this devotion to someone that God has placed on your heart.

“We should seek the Lord while we can find Him. One day, it will be too late.”

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I’ve done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life. Amen

March 3rd 2016 – An Important Job

(Note…Photo taken from the back window of my Sons wife car. Thank you Ashley and Larry.)
SmartSelectImage_2016-03-03-05-38-16

“Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jecholiah of Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.” (2 Chronicles 26:3-4)

If you were to take a poll of the world’s most important jobs, you would no doubt find teachers, policemen and others like them at the top of the list. While those in these positions are indeed important, I wonder how many would place parents at the top of that list. God tells us in His Word that children are a blessing from the Lord and yet many parents today seem to see children as a hindrance. Children are not a hindrance to abundant life but can be a catalyst for mothers and fathers to experience life to the fullest. The key is to see parenting as the sacred task that it is. When we do, we realize the importance of guiding our children into the arms of Jesus.

(Proverbs 22:6) ” Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Each person’s life will impact the world in some way. It may be good or bad depending on choices made, but it will impact someone. When a mother and a father dedicate their lives to demonstrating Jesus to their child and speaking about the things of God, they are adding years to their lives impact. The legacy left to their children will echo throughout their life and on into the next. In fact, it could be said that the influence we have on our children echoes into eternity. We see this clearly in the passage above. Uzziah was crowned at sixteen and because his father led him in the ways of the Lord, he was prepared to lead the people according to God’s Word. We may not be over kingdoms, but how we lead our children can impact their lives and the lives of their children and their children’s children forever.

“Parents you have been given a sacred task in raising their children in a godly manner.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love and for the opportunity to be Your child. Lord, I thank You for the children You have given me and for the honor of being a parent. Help me to come alongside my children to raise them according to Your Word. Give me wisdom and insight in how to encourage and discipline rightly so that they may see Jesus in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 2nd 2016 – Would You Like to Get Well?

SmartSelectImage_2016-03-01-23-57-06

When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:6)

What an awesome question! The Lord Jesus has such a way with words! No dancing around the issue. He cuts right to the heart of the matter. Would you like to get well? Would you? That is His question to you today. That is His question to your neighbors and to your friends and family who do not know Him. That is His question to those who ridicule Him in the media and the press. That is His question to those who speak out against Him and even persecute those who believe in Him. That is His question to all of humanity.

He is not just talking about physical wellness here. Jesus is talking about our very soul being cleansed, our guilt being purged and our sins forgiven. He is talking about wellness of the mind, soul and the spirit in addition to wellness of body. There is nothing wrong with you that He cannot fix. His death on the cross offers these benefits. The amazing thing is that no matter what you’ve done, how you’ve done it or who you’ve been… the offer stands as firm today as it stood yesterday and the day before. The question… Would you like to get well? Your response….

If you would like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior …

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again in three days defeating death. I have sinned. I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. Please give me the power to live for You all the days of my life. Thank You for forgiving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“There is nothing wrong with us that Jesus cannot fix.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, an internal and external cleansing of all my failures and mistakes. How beautiful is this clean… so much more than any I can earn or manufacture. Thank You for Your healing of my life; all of it. I give it to You. Use my life for Your glory. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

March 1st 2016 – Devotion in Action

images-101

“but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.” (2 Timothy 1:10-11)

In Luke 7, we’re presented with the overwhelming devotion of a woman who had been living a life of sin but desired the forgiveness found in Jesus. Her devotion was not simply a spoken commitment or a passing acknowledgment. Her devotion led her to purchase expensive perfume so that she could pour it over the feet of Jesus. This was not a mild act of symbolism but a costly act of love and brokenness.

As Christians, we too are like this woman who has come to the feet of Jesus seeking forgiveness. His forgiveness is free to those who would ask, and yet His forgiveness should lead us to something more. When we realize the weight of our sinfulness alongside the love seen on the cross, it causes us to give all we have for our Savior. Like the woman in Luke 7, we desire to pour out our lives at the feet of Jesus not in order to purchase salvation, but because we love Him.

“Our commitment to the Lord is often a reflection of our understanding in the price He paid for each of us.”

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, Thank You for saving me from my sins. Thank You for dying on the cross so that I could be freed from eternal separation from You. Give me the power to surrender All of my life to You. May the works of my hands and the words of my mouth be a sweet aroma to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

Please take a moment to contact me at roblavallee@gmail.com, I would love to pray with you personally for this wonderful new journey you are on..

February 29th 2016 – Battle Wounds

 images-137

“Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!” But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:” (Acts 11:1-4)

Christians love to discuss their differences and compare their battle wounds. While I do think some things need to be discussed, I think we spend way too much time and energy on these discussions. There is so much to do for the Kingdom that we can’t afford to waste this time. At the end of this brief season we call life, God will not ask how many arguments we have won, but rather how many souls we have won.

Believers accomplish little when arguing with one another. Instead let’s focus on loving each other as we are commanded, otherwise we are distracted by other issues and possibly giving a bad witness. Let’s not over emphasize our differences but join together and serve side by side. Let’s be careful not to continually compare battle wounds and scars, all we are doing is reminding each other about the pain and suffering we endured. Instead, let’s serve God alongside one another. (John 13:35) reads, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Prayer:

Dear Lord, Help me to love the people You have placed around me in life. Help me not to get caught up and enter into strife with brothers and sisters. While there are some things worthy of argument, there are many things that are not. Lord, please give me the wisdom to know the difference. Please forgive me for any pain I caused, look after my friend and heal any broken hearts. In Jesus name, Amen.

January 28th 2016 – God Keeps His Promises

2016-02-28-02-38-37--1708360891

“Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began” (Romans 16:25)

Our God is a keeping God. He may keep some secrets, but He also keeps His promises. His faithfulness is without end. God establishes us as His children according to the generous outpouring of His love through Jesus Christ. He keeps us secure in His hand from which no power can snatch us away.

(John 10:27-30) “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”

Where man fails to keep promises made to God, our Father never fails in His promises to us. He establishes us and won’t let go. What have you promised God that you have neglected to do? While you are less than faithful to the Lord, He is ever faithful to you. Don’t you think you owe Him more of a commitment than that? The things we do reflect the commitments we honor. Would your family say you were committed to serving God? What about a stranger?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins. I want Your fresh mercy and grace. Lord, I am available to do the work You have called me to do. Help me, Lord, to share the simple Truth of Your Word with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen
