So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” (Nehemiah 6:3)

Satan never has a good day. He is completely miserable, and he wants to make you miserable too. He will offer you fun, that turns into immense sorrow, laughter that turns into tears and temporary pleasure that turns into a life of pain and possibly into an eternity of pain. God’s word tells us that we must resist.  Satan wants to destroy our life and kill us, God desires to give more of life and offers a eternity with Him.

(John 10:10) “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

In order for us to resist the devil, we must first allow Jesus to change us from the inside out. You can go through the motions and do all the right things, but if you don’t let Jesus change the old ways, you are being deceived and being cheated of beautiful and abundant life. Don’t allow the enemy to gain control. Submit to God and allow His Spirit to help you and direct you in His ways..

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know there have been times I have allowed the enemy to pull me away from Your best. Give me eyes to see and ears to hear You more clearly through Your Word, Your Holy Spirit and other believers. I want Your ways, not the enemies ways! In Jesus Name, Amen.

“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for lack of wisdom.” (Proverbs 10:19-21)

There is an old saying that heard, “When in doubt, do without.” In the area of words, this can be a great reminder to watch our words carefully and not say something we shouldn’t. When we are faced with a difficult person or situation, it may be best not to talk much at all but instead, take time to think and pray about your response.

Like in the book of Proverbs, the book of James reminds us to be careful with our words. They have the power to encourage and the power to destroy, so choose carefully what you say. In fact, today as you talk to those around you, take a mental evaluation of your words. Are you giving others time to speak? Are you encouraging others with your words, or are you using your words to gossip or tear down. Pray that God would give you wisdom on when to speak. After all, another old adage was right when it said, “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.”

“When in doubt, do without,” is a great reminder when it comes to speech and a idle chatter.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know there are times that I have spoken out of turn. Forgive me for those moments and give me wisdom on how best to use my words. Allow me to be slow to speak and quick to listen. Use my words to bring others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.” (2 Corinthians 2:12-13)

Often, when we minister to others, we will find ourselves put to the test. Certainly Paul experienced this as he traveled place to place sharing the Gospel. What’s important about those times of trial is that it usually exposes the reality of our hearts.

I personally am very particular when it comes to tea, I am not a big fan of the red teas, however I dont mind the green teas. When we want to know the flavor of a tea, We pour very hot water on it to find out. This is also true with our lives. God knows what sins or attitudes dwell inside our hearts, but often times, we don’t until we are backed up against a wall. Not only does it reveal our own heart, but trials can also show who our true friends are. If all these things are true, why do we often run from trials? Instead, let’s endure them with watchful eyes looking for areas in need of God’s miraculous changing power. As we do, we will continue to be molded more and more into the image of Jesus.

“Trials often reveal in our life and relationships what’s really in our heart.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for trials in life. While it may be hard to say that in the middle of suffering, I am thankful that You use those times to help me. Give me eyes to see the truth of my heart’s condition and the wisdom and strength to apply Your Word to those areas. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

Jesus’ death on the cross is a historical fact. The fact that He rose from the dead is verified from literature. More phulysical documents exist that verify Jesus lived, died and rose from the dead than the top 40 (pre BC) historical figures taught to our children in school. Every one of the disciples except John died a martyr’s death, but even under severe torture, they would not and could not deny the truth of Jesus. Josephus, an ancient Jewish historian said, “He appeared to them alive on the third day as the divine prophets foretold.”

Jesus said He laid down His life for His friends. The cross was no accident or tragic surprise. It was part of an incredible plan. Jesus orchestrated His own sacrifice. He willingly grew the tree He would be nailed to. He willingly picked Judas as an apostle to betray Him. He willingly put Pontius Pilate in power to order him crucified. Jesus was not held there by any man-made nails, but was held there by our need for a Savior and His love for you. The simple fact is He could have escaped at any time. When He chose you… when He chose to have a relationship with you, He needed to make a payment for your sins. When He chose you, He chose the very nails he was crucified with.

Did Jesus die on the cross for your sins?  You, have to make that decision. He is the Savior of the world; the question is, is He your Savior? You can often tell what something is worth by the price that is paid for it. God paid a very high price for you.

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for paying the price that I could not pay. You died on the cross, held there only by Your love for me. You rose from the grave that I may have eternal life. Please forgive me for my sins and give me the power to live for You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

When Jesus said all things, did He mean ALL THINGS?  Well, one thing that we have learned from the Word of God is that our Heavenly Father is not a man that He should lie.  If God said it, it is so.  So, with that in mind, we can have confidence in God and His Word.

 

“That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

Did you know that God uses the plans of the enemy for our good? God also can use the bad things, even the plans of the enemy for our blessings. Trials are used to bless us. You may ask, “How can this be?” After all, in the midst of pain, hardship and weakness, nothing seems right. That may be the case, but if we are in Christ, we can say exactly what Paul said, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Paul is saying, “In me, I am weak, yet in the Lord, I am strong.” Not just strong but, we are God strong. We think the most blessed person has it made. I can tell you this, no one has it made. Sometimes the most blessed person is the one who has been smacked the most by the enemy, but came out blessed because he has learned to lean on God. When we lean on God, we have unlimited power and authority to help us. In ourselves, we will never overcome anything. But in the power of Christ, we can overcome everything!

“When we think we can handle a situation, sometimes we are wrong. When we think the Lord can handle a situation or help us handle it, we are never wrong.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You today admitting that I am unable to handle everything in my life. I confess that I am weak and come asking for your unlimited strength. I know the road may be hard, but I also understand that with You all things are possible. Overcome my weakness with Your power. I don’t simply want to be strong; I desire to be God strong. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center.” (John 19:17-18)

It is painful to consider what Jesus went through for us and to think about what He endured on our behalf. The remarkable truth I keep coming back to time and time again is that it was His decision. He decided to endure these things… the suffering, the beatings and the crucifixion. It is convicting because I know how little in comparison it has taken to rattle my endurance at times. I have never been beaten for Jesus much less crucified.

It comes down to each and every one of us making a commitment to Jesus. How far will you follow Jesus? Until it gets inconvenient, uncomfortable, or what about when it becomes painful? Are you willing to follow Him all the way? Let us follow our Jesus, who is so worthy, all the way until the end. Until we hear the words “Well done, good and faithful servant.” God bless you as you follow Jesus.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,You have called me to a disciple’s life. I want to embrace that life, yet there are times when I look back. I am Your disciple. I will go where You lead me. Please help my faith I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

“From childhood we have watched as everything our ancestors worked for–their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters– was squandered on a delusion.” (Jeremiah 3:24)

Sin is not your friend. Yes, it may feel good to do it. There may be a feeling of excitement associated with the activity, but don’t let that make you think that it is on your side. In the book of Jeremiah, God is speaking to his people about their evil activity. In the midst of His convicting words, God points them to a time that is yet to come where they will turn back to God. When they turn back to Him, they will see the truth about their sinfulness and how much it costs. This is one of the things that occur when we repent. We see our sin, the cost of it and the reality that we are to blame.

But our God always has a way of escape from our sin for us.

Our God is a God of hope and second chances. He desires to take our sin-stained lives and turn them into glorious gems. Unlike the city I live in, they are continually patching the roads. It never last. Our God is not interested in a temporary fix or patch of our faulty flesh; He desires to give us a brand new life. This all starts when we turn from the empty sin we have been chasing after and turn to the mighty God who desires to save us. Have you turned to Him? He is waiting with open arms. “He loves you.”

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I have done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life. In Your name, Amen

“And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.” (Esther 3:2)

What or who controls you? Let me ask it this way, “What or who do you worship?” Chances are that the person or thing that controls you is also the thing you worship. In our society we may not create idols of gold or silver but we still have 55 inch flat screens that we sit in front of for hours at a time. It could be eating or shoping, maybe smoking, even could be drugs and alcohol. It may not be an object at all, it may be a person. Husband, wife, child or even a boyfriend or girlfriend could be elevated to the point of our worship. In short, anything we place above God in importance is an idol we are worshiping.

In the book of Esther, Mordecai was commanded to worship Haman and yet he refused because he knew it was wrong. He was not going to allow himself to be controlled by an evil official. He knew what was right and therefore refused to worship anyone besides God. Friend, we can learn from Mordecai. If there is anything in your life that you may be worshipping, it’s time to stop. Ask the Lord to reveal to you any idols you may have created and seek God’s forgiveness and grace. He will gladly give it to you and help you to find the joy that comes from worshipping Him alone.

“We are to worship, God and God alone.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am sorry for those times I have placed other things in front of you. I know that I have worshipped lesser things and I ask that you would forgive me. Fill me with Your Spirit and give me the strength to worship and be controlled by you alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)

Stabile Marriage… Everyone desires to have one.. After all, who wants a mariage in chaos? Unfortunately, life doesn’t always give us a choice. Each morning when we open our eyes we await things that will catch us off guard. Good or bad, these elements in life are part of living in a broken world. The good news is that we are not alone, and there is a source outside the chaos that we can lean on in times of instability and dougt in our marriages.

(Psalm 94:22) “But the LORD has been my defense, And my God the rock of my refuge.”

Throughout Scripture, God is referred to as a rock. This is not to say that he is made of granite, but it is a reference to his steadfastness. Like a mighty mountain, God is immovable and secure in all His ways. Because of this, He is our source for security and strength. When life brings surprises, we can stand on our God. When people change, our God will not. When situations arise, our God is our refuge. As you wake up this morning, spend time in God’s Word and get to know Him more. Read His promises with great anticipation. Grasp His love and mercy and allow that to strengthen you today. The more you know about God, Jesus and His might and power; the more you will be equipped to stand strong during the storms of life. Life may bring instability in our marriage but with God we can remain stable.

“The more mature you grow in the Lord, the more stable you become in our relationships and in all of lifes matters.”

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for Your great love for me and for Your steadfastness. Your Word tells me that You will never change and that Your mercy endures forever. Lord, help me to find stability on You, my Rock. Bring to mind Scriptures in my times of doubt and encouragements in my times of need. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I will remain brave, strong and steadfast in the faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen
