June 11th 2018 – Do You Trust Me

“Then the Rabshakeh said to them, “Say now to Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the great king, the king of Assyria:”What confidence is this in which you trust?” (2 Kings 18:19)

It is very easy to begin trusting in the ‘things’ of this world because of the subtle way they steal our attention away from God. It is because of this subtle infiltration of worldly things that every Christian should take the time to evaluate themselves. Is there something that you give a larger role in your life than God? Has your focus become a kaleidoscope of ‘things’ preventing you from clearly focusing on serving God? If so, you had better confess to God and turn your gaze toward Him before the subtle deception of accumulation leaves you trusting in the stuff instead of God. Otherwise, there will come a day when you will find yourself spiritually and possibly physically famished.

If I were to ask you individually, most of you would very quickly say that you trust God but there are times when trust is not so simple. Trusting God means we believe in that which we cannot see and sometimes may not understand.

Trusting God is literally against our human nature. Trusting God means that we have to admit that we are not in control of our lives.

We place our trust in something or someone every day. We trust our cars to get us to our destination. We trust our employers to deliver paychecks. We trust our doctors to heal our illnesses. How much more should we trust God?

(John 14:1) “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God, trust also in me.”

“We should know who or what we are trusting in. We should trust in the Lord alone.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,Thank You for Your Love. Lord, forgive me for the times I have placed my focus on the ‘things’ in my life rather than You. Give me the discernment and wisdom to see the deception in the things of this world and keep my eyes fixed upon You. I surrender everything to You. In Jesus name, Amen

Do trust Jesus enough with your life? You should, Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves us and wants to help us. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus

June 10th 2018 – What Are You Doing Here?

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:13)

It was a glorious day of victory for Israel and the Lord. Elijah had faced off with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, where God sent a stream of fire from Heaven and consumed Elijah’s sacrifice. At God’s command, Baal’s prophets had been slain, and Jezebel, the wife of wicked King Ahab, wanted Elijah dead.

So inexplicably, the courageous Elijah, having just faced all those prophets, ran in terror and hid himself in a cave. Then the Bible tells us there was a mighty, rushing wind, followed by an earthquake and a big fire. After that, God asked Elijah a question:

“What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:13).

I wonder if the Lord would say that to some of us sometimes. Maybe it’s when you’re in a group of people and things are happening that you shouldn’t be around. Maybe people are getting drunk or doing drugs. And the Lord says, “What are you doing here?” Or maybe you went to the movies and a scene comes on that is not the kind of scene you should be watching. Everyone is enjoying it, and you are feeling a little uncomfortable. The Lord whispers, “What are you doing here?”

When Judas came to betray Jesus, He said, “Friend, why have you come?” (Matthew 26:50). Did Jesus know why Judas came to the garden with a bunch of soldiers and the temple guard? Of course Jesus knew. However, Jesus wanted Judas to say he was there because he had been planning to betray Him, but he wanted to repent. But Judas didn’t repent.

God knows everything that we have done, and He wants us to admit our sins, to confess them. Sometimes God will ask us a question designed to do that. So what question is God asking you today?

“No reason to stay, is always a good reason to leave!”

June 9th 2018 – Help Wanted, Apply Today!

“Now look around among yourselves, brothers, and select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. We will put them in charge of this business. Then we can spend our time in prayer and preaching and teaching the word.” (Acts 6:3-4)

In Acts 6, we see how important it became for these twelve men to raise up other Godly disciples to help in the work of the ministry. God had called these disciples to teach the Bible. In the midst of the grumbling among the believers, a decision had to be made. They could have either raised up other Godly disciples to help in the work, or they could have neglected their study of the Word of God. In order to teach the people, these men made a great decision. Instead of trying to delegate the order of business among themselves, they presented others with the opportunity.

It is important in ministry to delegate and ‘give away’ ministry. God has given each and every one of us gifts in order to serve Him and the body of Christ. The gifts that each of us encompass are a necessary ingredient to the body of believers.

(Ephesians 4:11-12) “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”

Step out and begin serving the Lord in the small things, and watch as larger doors open for you. He is so worthy to be served. Together, we will see God change lives, starting with our own.

“We should be willing to serve the Lord in any and all ways.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we praise You and Love You in all circumstances Thank You for equipping me to serve You and others. I crave opportunities to use these gifts You’ve given me to serve others. Help me to use these gifts faithfully so that leaders in the church will present me with more opportunities to glorify You in ministry. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

June 8th 2018 – Are You Ready?

“Also in every city he put shields and spears, and made them very strong, having Judah and Benjamin on his side.” (2 Chronicles 11:12)

Are you ready? They’re coming. No matter your age or status, as a follower of Christ, you will face battles. Sometimes these battles are unexpected and painful. They could be anything from developing a life threating illness to being assulted and robbed at gunpoint. At times the battle will rage inside your heart and mind unknown to those around you. However they may come, don’t be caught off guard. Instead, be ready to hold fast to the One who can help you endure.

(Ephesians 6:10-11) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Jesus, Himself, assured us that we would have trials, yet He did not leave it at that. Instead He said, “But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

What an encouragement to know that we can take our stand against the enemy knowing that Christ has already insured us of his defeat. As we stand in Christ, we will find strength for the battle and victory in the end.

“Be ready as a follower of Jesus to endure trials, tribulations and battles.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You for all that You have done for me. Please help me to be ready for the battles. May I always look to You for strength and wisdom. Give me patience and help me to endure to the end. Teach me in the midst of the battle to trust in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

June 7th 2018 – Discover a Life of Happiness

“He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:28)

“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” (Proverbs 11:25)

We all have unique talents and abilities that God wants to use for His glory. Your act of love for God is expressed when you serve and keep His commandments. Don’t be dissatisfied with your giftings, but obey God and walk in them.

Serving God with your gifts and obeying His commandments should be a high priority in the life of the believer. This is not to say that you are under the law, but because of His amazing love for you, you can respond in love by serving others with your talents. While you are not trying to earn your righteousness, you should desire to be obedient to Him. Not because you are earning your salvation, but because you love Him.

(1 John 5:2-3) “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”

You are to love God with all of your heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37). Serving and obeying God should not be burdensome because He loved you first. When I bring a gift to my wife, I do not do so because I am married. I do this out of love. In the same way, show your love and affection for God by being committed to witness, read the Bible, pray and love others.

Do you express your love to God by serving Him and others? Remember how God told us to discover a life worth living? Feel safe and secure in the arms of God’s redeeming power and undeniable love. Step out in obedience to Him and share the hope and love of God to this cold, dark and lost world.

“The sins of this world is not anything worth living for and sure does not offer anything worth dying for.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love that sets me free when I ask you to forgive me of my sins. Thank You for allowing me to come to You. I thank You for the talents and abilities You have given to me. Forgive me where I have envied someone else’s gifts while neglecting to use my own gifts. Help me to be grateful for the call You have for my life so that I can discover purpose and meaning the way You intended. Lord, thank You for Your patience with me. Help me bring hope to a lost and dying world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

June 6th 2018 – God Reveals Himself Through His Holy Spirit

“But as it is written:’Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man. The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

I recently was reading a book where the author taught verse nine but failed to move on to verse ten. I found it interesting that he stopped there. When one teaches only verse nine, it gives the impression that we cannot know what God has prepared for us. But continue to verse ten, and we learn that we do have access to the mysteries of God through His Holy Spirit. God has not left us stranded on in the middle of a old wooden bridge of uncertainty.

When we are not sure of things or circumstances, we should return to what we do know. Remind yourself… “God, I know You love me. I know my sins are forgiven. I know You will use all things for my good. I know You have a plan for me.”

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” (Romans 5:5-6)

The moment we realize God loves us and has forgiven us, other mysteries of life don’t have to strike fear in our hearts. Instead, we can boldly step out into those things He created for us. When God reveals Himself to us, He gives us the responsibility to share Him with others.

“You are never left alone when you alone with God”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for Your kindness and grace to reveal Yourself to me. Lord, draw me close to You and show me Your plan for my life. Give me the strength to share Your simple message to reach others in this crucial time. In Jesus’ name, Amen

June 5th 2018 – Stairway to Heaven

“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago–whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows–such a one was caught up to the third heaven.” (2 Corinthians 12:2)

While there may be some debate on these verses in 2 Corinthians 12, in some Jewish writings, the third heaven is referred to as the abode of God. The first heaven is simply the skies, the clouds around earth or the atmosphere. The second heaven is the stars, the moon, and the sun in the universe. The third heaven is the spiritual and very real place that we usually refer to as Heaven, the abode of God.

Since Heaven does exist, the question remains, “How do I get there?” This Heaven cannot be reached by a spaceship other any other technology. The abode of God can only be reached through the person of Jesus Christ. It is through His loving sacrifice on the cross that we can be in right standing with God to enter into this most glorious place. To close, I must ask one more question, “Are you going to Heaven?” If you are unsure, then I encourage you to pray the prayer below, confessing your sin to God and trusting in Jesus’ death and resurrection for your salvation. There is only one way to Heaven, and it is through our faith in the One who created it.

“Humanity can only get to Heaven by Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I could have new life. I know I have done wrong things, and I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me the power to follow You all the days of my life. Amen.

June 4th 2018 – The Weight Of Your Life

“For you have proudly defied the Lord of heaven and have had these cups from his Temple brought before you. You and your nobles and your wives and concubines have been drinking wine from them while praising gods of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood, and stone—gods that neither see nor hear nor know anything at all. But you have not honored the God who gives you the breath of life and controls your destiny!” (Daniel 5:23)

Everytime I step onto a scale, I am often dissapointed with what what I see. I always weigh more than I want to. In fact, I can’t think of a time recently when I weighed less than I thought I did. On our scales, we typically want to weigh less.

Did you know that God has scales too? God’s scales are very different. On God’s scales, we want to weigh more, because His scales are about the weight of our life, the depth of our life, and the substance of our life.

In the book of Daniel chapter 5, it tells the story of Belshazzar, the grandson of King Nebuchadnezzar, who went out of his way to blaspheme and insult the true and living God. As he and his friends were partying away, they suddenly saw a hand writing on the plaster of the palace wall. It was a message from God himself.

Belshazzar called for the prophet Daniel to interpret the writing, and Daniel told him, “This is what these words mean: Mene means ‘numbered’—God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an end. Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up. Parsin means ‘divided’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians” (Daniel 26–28).

Daniel was saying to Belshazzar, “You have been put on God’s divine scales, and there is nothing of substance in your life. And now your time is up.”

That night, the Medo-Persian forces were amassing outside under the leadership of Cyrus, and Belshazzar was killed.

God has given us warnings in the Scriptures just like He gave to Belshazzar. There is a last night for every person. There will be a last meal . . . a last statement . . . a last breath . . . and then eternity.

June 3rd 2018 – Keeping Our Peace When Our World Falls Apart

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28)

A father was trying to take his Sunday afternoon nap but having little success because his young son kept waking him up with the complaint, “Daddy, I’m bored.” The father knew he needed to come up with some kind of plan to keep the little boy occupied, or there would be no nap. He glanced at the newspaper lying on the coffee table and had what he thought was a brilliant plan to keep his son busy and give him more time to sleep.

The father picked up the paper and pointed to a picture of the world on the front page. “This is a picture of the world, but it is also a puzzle,” the father explained. He then ripped the picture into about fifty pieces, handed them to his young son and said, “I want you to put it all back together.” He lay down to finish his nap, thinking he would get at least another hour of sleep.

In about fifteen minutes, the little boy woke him up saying, “Daddy, I’ve got it finished. It’s all put together.” The father could not believe it. His son was too young to know much about geography. “How did you do that?” he asked in amazement. “Dad, there was a picture of a person on the back page of that newspaper, and when I got my person put together, the world looked fine.”

Pain and stress can rip our lives apart. We frantically try to find some way to put it all back together, but the broken pieces don’t seem to fit anymore. What then?

Trust God. Like the children of Israel, just stick your toes in the water, and watch God part the raging sea before you.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”
(John 14:27)

“Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.”
(Psalm 119:76)

You may not always understand or even like His process, but you can always trust His heart of love for you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I choose to believe You are faithful and will do what You promise to do in Your Word. I believe that when I lay my pain and hurt at Your feet, You can and will transform it all into something beautiful. I choose to believe You will turn the broken places of my life into living illustrations of Your sufficiency and healing power. Please Help me continue to be patient and let me blessings arrive in you perfect timing and in when I want. I humble ask You to give me peace as I humbly trust in You in these circumstances.  I trust You Lord! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May 2nd 2018 – The Throne of Grace

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (Hebrews 4:16)

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Prayer is a mighty tool in the hands of a Christian. When we come to God in prayer, we step beyond ourselves and enter into conversation with the God of the universe. In the book of Hebrews, it states that we should “come boldly to the throne of grace.” Imagine… weak and broken, we can come to God’s throne with boldness knowing that He will hear us.

Unfortunately, many times we come to God with our wish lists and plans, all the while missing the greater blessing. As we come to God in prayer and lay before Him our thanks and petitions, we begin growing in our faith. As we share with Him our hearts desire, we find ourselves desiring His heart. Many times in prayer, it is not our situation that is changed, but rather it is ourselves. What joy to know that we can lift our voice to God and in return find hope, peace and a life forever changed.

“The goal of prayer is not to have God answer according to our desires, but for our hearts to be set to receive based on His desires.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me and allowing me to speak to You today. Because of Jesus, I am able to come to You directly and know that You are listening. Father, continue to change my heart and mind into that of Jesus. I lift up my family and friends who may not know You. Give me an opportunity to share the Gospel with them today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Looking to ask Jesus into your life? Read Below..

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.
