September 19th 2025 – Spirit World: A Call for Discernment

“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them” (Ephesians 5:11)

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1)

In the lead-up to Halloween, we are inundated with imagery and symbols that celebrate fear and the supernatural. From spooky decorations to horror films, our culture often glorifies what is dark and demonic. This can desensitize us, especially our children, to the reality of evil spirits and the destructive nature of sin.

As Christians, we must remember that behind these idols and myths lies a spiritual battle. The Bible warns us to be vigilant and discerning. Many in our society have become apathetic toward the spiritual implications of engaging with such themes. This is a call for us to reflect on the consequences of these choices—not just for ourselves but for future generations.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Children are especially impressionable, and the allure of costumes and scary stories can lead them away from the light of Christ. As parents and guardians, it is our responsibility to guide them, emphasizing the importance of a relationship with Jesus, who offers protection and salvation.

Satan and his schemes thrive in a culture that dismisses the seriousness of evil. We must teach our children to recognize the truth of Scripture and the power of Jesus over any dark force. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and we should instill a healthy respect for the spiritual realm, encouraging our families to seek refuge in Christ.

Biblical Application: Living in the Light

Call to Action:

Consider finding or organizing a family or community event that focuses on the light of Christ during this Halloween season. Engage in activities that promote faith, such as a harvest festival, a church gathering, or a night of worship, steering clear of the themes that celebrate darkness.

“True strength lies not in the absence of fear, but in the courage to stand firm in faith, embracing the light even when shadows loom.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, as we gather to reflect on the influence of the spirit world around us, we seek Your wisdom and discernment. Help us to recognize the dangers that lurk in the shadows of our culture, especially as Halloween approaches. May we be vigilant and protect our families from the allure of darkness.Guide us in teaching our children the importance of a relationship with Jesus, who offers protection and salvation. Give us courage to speak out against the normalization of evil and to share the light of Your love with those around us. May we draw closer to You and be guided by Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 6th 2025 – Will We See Our Loved Ones in Heaven?

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

The question of whether we will see our loved ones in heaven is one that stirs deep emotions within us. It is natural to long for the comfort of knowing that those we cherish will be with us in eternity. The promise of heaven offers us hope, and it is this hope that fuels our mission to share our faith with others.

Why we must have a conversation about Jesus with our loved ones.

As believers, we are called to share the message of Jesus with our unsaved loved ones. This calling is rooted in love, hope, and the understanding of eternal consequences. We need to remember that every interaction we have can plant a seed of faith. Our relationships with our family and friends are often the most impactful, as they see our daily lives and witness our faith in action.

Yet, what happens when our loved ones are not receptive to the Gospel? It can be disheartening, but even in those moments, we must continue to shine as a “lamp on a hill” (Matthew 5:14). Our lives serve as beacons of light in this dark world, and our unwavering faith can be a powerful testimony. People watch us, sometimes more closely than we realize.

Being diligent in our faith means living out the values of Christ in our daily actions. It encompasses kindness, patience, forgiveness, and love, even when faced with rejection or indifference. This authenticity and consistency can eventually break down barriers and open hearts to the message of salvation.

Take a moment to reflect on the loved ones in your life who may not yet know Jesus. Are there ways you can be a light to them? How can you demonstrate your faith in practical, loving ways? Remember that your actions may speak louder than words, and your steadfastness in faith can leave a lasting impression.

“Be diligent in sharing Jesus, for the end days are upon us; His return will come like a thief in the night, and every soul matters in the light of eternity.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of eternal life with You and the hope of reuniting with our loved ones in heaven. Help us to be persistent in sharing Your love and truth with those who do not yet know You. Give us patience and understanding as we navigate our relationships, especially when faced with rejection. May our lives be a reflection of Your light, drawing others closer to You. Let us shine brightly in the darkness, and help us to remain diligent in our faith. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

April 7th 2025 – The Treasure in Our Trials

“For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.” (2 Corinthians 4:11-12)

The church in Corinth may not have fully understood the depth of their blessing, yet they were profoundly impacted by Paul’s sufferings. Each battle he faced and every hardship endured were divinely ordained moments that allowed him to stand as a powerful witness to the world. In a time marked by trials, Paul’s faithfulness in suffering led to the spreading of God’s Word, a legacy that continues to this very day.

In our own lives, we can likely identify moments of suffering that we’ve experienced for the sake of Christ. While our trials may not mirror Paul’s, they are nonetheless significant parts of our Christian journey. It may seem daunting to consider hardship as part of our walk, but remember: during these times, others are observing our responses, and they can be profoundly influenced by the grace we exhibit.

Scripture describes us as fragile clay jars—“cracked jars” that hold immense treasure. The cracks that appear through suffering are not merely imperfections; rather, they are opportunities for the light of Christ to shine through.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

As we endure life’s challenges, let us embrace the truth that our cracks reveal the brilliance of Jesus within us. God can turn every trial into a testimony, so let us rejoice even in our hardest moments, seeking ways to reflect His light and love to those around us—like a cracked jar shining with a radiant glow.

“You don’t really know Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, In the midst of my struggles, I want to express my gratitude for the lessons that suffering brings. I understand that these challenges shape me into the image of Your Son, Jesus. Grant me the strength to endure and the wisdom to respond with grace, even when the path is difficult. May my life serve as a beacon of hope to others, revealing Your love and power through my cracks. Thank You for being my source of comfort and hope. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

February 1st 2025 – Embracing the Essence of Haplous

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23)

Unpacking the Meaning of Haplous.

The Greek / Hebrew term (Stongs #573)

“Haplous” (ἁπλοῦς)  (pronounced hap-looce’) carries a profound significance, encapsulating the essence of simplicity and single-mindedness. This word conveys the idea of possessing a pure, undivided focus—a heart and mind that are wholly dedicated to a singular purpose. In the context of our spiritual lives, embodying “haplous” represents the cultivation of a heart that is singularly devoted to God, untangled from the web of distractions and complexities that often ensnare our daily existence.

Cultivating a “Haplous” Heart

In the fast-paced, ever-changing world we inhabit, it can be all too easy to become overwhelmed by the myriad of demands and distractions that vie for our attention. Our lives can quickly become a whirlwind of commitments, responsibilities, and worries, making it increasingly challenging to maintain a deep and meaningful connection with our Creator. Yet, in the timeless wisdom of Matthew 6, Jesus offers us a profound reminder about the importance of our perspective. When our eyes are “healthy” or “haplous,” we gain the transformative ability to perceive the world through the illuminating lens of God’s love and divine purpose.

To foster a “haplous” heart, we must take intentional steps to simplify our lives and create space for the Divine. This may involve carving out dedicated time each day for prayer, immersing ourselves in the nourishing words of Scripture, or practicing the discipline of gratitude. As we begin to declutter our minds and hearts from the noise and distractions of modern life, we cultivate fertile ground for God to work within us, allowing His radiant light to shine through our very beings.

Take a moment to reflect on what it truly means to possess a “haplous” heart. Are there areas in your life where temporal concerns have taken precedence over your vital relationship with the Almighty? Consider how you might embrace simplicity, focusing your thoughts, energy, and actions on what holds eternal significance. As you embark on this transformative journey, you will discover that your life becomes a vibrant reflection of God’s light—radiating hope, love, and peace to all those you encounter.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we are profoundly grateful for the gift of simplicity that You offer us. Help us to cultivate a “haplous” heart, one that remains steadfastly focused on You amidst the ceaseless demands of this world. Clear away the barriers that impede our communion with You, and guide us to see the world through the lens of Your divine perspective. May Your radiant light shine brightly in our lives, empowering us to honor You in all our thoughts, words, and deeds. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
