October 9th 2025 – The Greatest Man in History – Jesus

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

As we reflect on the life of Jesus, we are drawn into the profound mystery of His existence. The greatest man in history, He walked among us with humility and grace, defying the expectations of the world. Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master. His authority did not stem from position or privilege but from the depth of His love and the truth of His teachings. He served others, washing the feet of His disciples, teaching us that true leadership is found in service.

He held no formal degrees, yet they called Him Teacher. The wisdom He imparted transcended human understanding. With parables and profound insights, He revealed the heart of God, inviting us into a relationship that transforms and uplifts. Each lesson was a gentle call to seek the Kingdom of Heaven, a promise that it is within reach for all who believe.

Though He had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. In a world filled with pain and brokenness, Jesus brought restoration and hope. With a mere touch or a spoken word, He healed the sick, restored sight to the blind, and raised the dead. His compassion knew no bounds, reminding us that healing goes beyond the physical; it is also the restoration of the soul.

Jesus had no army, yet kings feared Him. His influence was not wielded through force or coercion but through love and truth. He challenged the powerful and stood with the marginalized, showing us that real strength lies in vulnerability and righteousness. His very presence unsettled those who clung to their thrones of power, for He embodied a kingdom that turned worldly expectations upside down.

He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. Through His sacrificial love and resurrection, Jesus triumphed over sin and death. The cross, once a symbol of shame, became a beacon of hope. In His victory, He offers us eternal life, inviting us to share in the spoils of His grace.

He did not live in a castle, yet they called Him Lord. Jesus was born in a humble manger, yet His reign is universal. He teaches us that greatness is not found in wealth or status but in love and sacrifice. Our hearts find their true home in submission to His Lordship.

He ruled no nations, yet they called Him King. The Kingdom of God is not of this world, yet it is a reality that we can experience now. Jesus invites us to live as citizens of this Kingdom, reflecting His character and love in all we do.

He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. The innocence of Christ highlights the depth of human sin and the necessity of His sacrifice. In our darkest moments, we are reminded that He bore our sins, offering us forgiveness and reconciliation with the Father.

He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. The stone was rolled away, and the tomb was empty. This is the cornerstone of our faith—the resurrection. Jesus is alive, and because He lives, we too have hope. We are called to share this hope with a world that desperately needs to know that love conquers all, and that in Christ, we are made new.

As we meditate on these truths, let us respond with hearts full of gratitude. May we strive to follow His example, live in His love, and share the good news of His life, death, and resurrection with everyone we encounter.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, As we come before You in prayer, we are filled with awe and gratitude for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for sending Him into our world, not with the trappings of power or prestige, but as a humble servant who taught us the depths of Your love and grace.

Lord, help us to embrace the example set by Jesus. Teach us to lead with humility, to serve those around us, and to share His wisdom with eager hearts. May we be vessels of His healing, bringing hope and restoration to those who are hurting, just as He did.

We acknowledge that in a world often driven by ambition and competition, true greatness lies in love and sacrifice. Help us to reflect the character of Christ in our daily lives, standing up for the marginalized and speaking truth to power, even when it challenges us.

Thank You for the victory of the cross, for the hope we find in the resurrection. May we live in the light of this truth, sharing the good news of Your love with those who need to hear it. Fill us with the courage to proclaim that Jesus lives, and in Him, we have new life.

As we navigate our days, guide our hearts to seek You above all else. May our lives be a testament to Your grace, and may we continually strive to grow in our relationship with You, drawing strength from the love of our Savior. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen

October 2nd 2025 – Teach Me to Love Like Jesus

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 14:28)

Have you ever shown attitude toward someone? Maybe a cheek or a cold shoulder? We often treat people based on whatever emotion we’re feeling at the moment. Sometimes we’re sad, reaching out for comfort from those around us. Other times, anger consumes us, and we seek someone to blame, venting our frustrations on them. But the most painful feeling of all? Not feeling loved and shutting ourselves off from the ability to love in return. Fortunately, we have Jesus, who modeled for us the essence of love and how to treat others. Let’s reflect on how Jesus loved.

“If there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:1-11)

How do you treat the people around you?

Take a moment to reflect on this for each of the following categories: family, friends, neighbors, classmates, strangers, your teacher, or your boss.

How did Jesus treat others? How did He respond in times of anguish and pain? How encouraged are you to adopt that loving mindset?

I’ll admit, I don’t always treat others as I should. Sometimes, I feel spiteful; other times, I feel lonely or hurt. Anger can creep in, and I might feel wretched. So, what do we do when we find ourselves in such a state? Turning to God should always be our first option, yet it’s not always easy. Paul encourages us to act without selfish ambition, to consider the interests of others. I know I often fall short of “considering others better than myself” or treating them with the love they deserve.

But think about Jesus. He bore all our pain and lowered Himself to the status of a servant. He loved, He served, He saved, and then He lived. That’s how we must strive to live. There’s a song that reminds us, “We live, we love, we forgive and never give up, ’cause the days we are given are gifts from above. So today, remember to love.”

“Jesus gave us the commandment to love one another. As He has loved us, we need to show compassion and love to others. If you don’t know how, ask Jesus to teach you to love like He does.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Your greatness astounds me, and Your love fills my heart with gratitude. I thank You for the gift of my wife, my family, and my friends who pour their love into my life each day. Please teach me to love like You love—unconditionally, selflessly, and wholeheartedly. Help me to embrace each opportunity to show compassion, understanding, and kindness to everyone I encounter. Grant me the strength to rise above my feelings of anger, hurt, or loneliness, and instead reflect Your love in my actions. May I always remember that every moment is a chance to share Your light with the world. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen!

October 22 2024 – Lessons from the Past

1 For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 

2 They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 

3 They all ate the same spiritual food 

4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 

5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 

6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 

7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” 

8 We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 

9 We should not test Christ, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 

10 And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel. 

11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come. 

12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 

14 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.

(1 Corinthians 10:1-14)

As we delve into this passage, we are reminded of the weight of our spiritual heritage. The Israelites, our spiritual ancestors, experienced miraculous acts of God yet still faced consequences for their disobedience. Paul draws our attention to their journey, emphasizing that these historical events serve as powerful lessons for us today.

In verses 1-4, Paul highlights the unity and shared experiences of the Israelites, who were all under the cloud and passed through the sea. They were baptized into Moses, symbolizing their deliverance and commitment to God. Similarly, we, as Christians, are united in Christ through our baptism, called to a life of faith and obedience.

Yet, despite their miraculous experiences, many of the Israelites fell into sin—idolatry, immorality, and grumbling (verses 6-10). These actions led to dire consequences, reminding us that even among those who have witnessed God’s power, the temptation to stray remains. Paul warns us that these stories are not just ancient history; they are relevant and applicable to our lives today.

In verses 11-12, Paul stresses the importance of humility. When we think we are standing firm, we must remain vigilant. Our strength is not in ourselves but in Christ. This realization keeps us grounded and reliant on God’s grace.

The essence of this passage culminates in verse 13, where we find both comfort and challenge. God is faithful; He understands our struggles and has promised that we will not face temptations beyond our ability to endure. His faithfulness provides a way out, encouraging us to trust in His provision and strength during trials.

As we reflect on this devotion, let us embrace the lessons from our ancestors. Let us flee from idolatry and the distractions that lead us away from God. In moments of temptation, may we turn our eyes to Jesus, the spiritual rock that sustains us.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the lessons from Scripture that guide us in our journey of faith. Help us to learn from the mistakes of those who came before us, and may we remain steadfast in our commitment to You. Grant us the wisdom to recognize temptation and the strength to flee from it. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for providing a way out in our times of trial. May our lives reflect Your love and grace as we seek to honor You in all we do. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

July 24th 2023 – Navigating Crossroads

Psalm 25:4 – “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.”

In our journey of faith, we often find ourselves at crossroads, unsure of which path to take or what decisions to make. It is during these times that we can turn to the Lord, just as the psalmist did, and cry out, “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.”

The psalmist’s plea is a humble admission that we, as human beings, can easily become lost and confused without the guidance of our Heavenly Father. We acknowledge that God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). Therefore, the first step towards finding direction in our lives is to surrender ourselves to Him and seek His wisdom.

Our God is not a distant deity who is uninterested in our affairs. On the contrary, He desires to be intimately involved in every aspect of our lives. He longs for us to seek His guidance and rely on His wisdom. When we come before Him with an open heart, ready to receive His instruction, He will not disappoint us.

As we meditate on this verse, let us consider the ways in which God can guide us. Firstly, He can show us His ways through His Word, the Bible. The Scriptures contain timeless truths that provide us with principles for living a godly life. By studying and meditating on His Word, we gain insight into His character and His desires for us.

Secondly, God guides us through His Holy Spirit. When we invite the Holy Spirit into our lives, He becomes our counselor, teacher, and guide. He speaks to our hearts, giving us nudges, promptings, and convictions that lead us on the right path. Our part is to cultivate a sensitive spirit and listen attentively to His gentle whispers.

Lastly, God guides us through the wise counsel of fellow believers. He places people in our lives who can offer godly advice and perspectives. Seeking wisdom from trusted mentors, pastors, or friends who are grounded in the Word can provide clarity and direction when we are facing difficult decisions.

As we pray the psalmist’s prayer, let us approach God with humility, recognizing our need for His guidance. Let us open our hearts and minds to His teachings, eagerly desiring to follow His ways and walk on His paths. May we surrender our own plans and trust in His perfect plan for our lives.

Let us commit to seeking God’s guidance in every area of our lives. Let us lean on His Word, the Holy Spirit, and the wisdom of fellow believers. As we do so, we can have confidence that He will lead us on the right path, even when it may be difficult or unclear. Trust in His faithfulness, knowing that His ways are always good and perfect

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You today seeking Your guidance and wisdom. Show me Your ways, Lord, and teach me Your paths. I recognize that without You, I am lost and confused. Help me to trust in Your leading and surrender my own desires to follow Your perfect plan. Speak to me through Your Word, Your Holy Spirit, and the wise counsel of fellow believers. Guide my steps, Jesus, and may I walk in Your truth. I pray in Your precious name, Amen.

July 8th 2023 – Trusting in God’s Guidance

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

In our journey of faith, there are times when we may feel unsure or overwhelmed by the decisions we need to make. We may find ourselves at a crossroads, uncertain of which path to take. In these moments, it is crucial to trust in God’s guidance.

The book of Proverbs reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and to not rely solely on our own understanding. As human beings, we often try to figure things out on our own, relying on our own logic and reasoning. However, God’s ways are higher than ours, and His wisdom surpasses our own understanding.

Trusting in God’s guidance requires humility and surrender. It means acknowledging that we don’t have all the answers, but God does. It means submitting our plans, desires, and decisions to Him, allowing Him to direct our steps. When we surrender to God, He promises to make our paths straight.

Take a moment today to reflect on the areas of your life where you may be struggling with decisions or feeling uncertain. Surrender those concerns to God and ask Him for His guidance. Trust that He will lead you in the right direction, even if it may not align with your initial plans. Remember that God’s plans are always greater and more beautiful than we can imagine

Heavenly Father, I come before You today with a humble heart, acknowledging that I need Your guidance in my life. Help me to trust You with all my heart, and to lean not on my own understanding. I submit my plans, decisions, and desires to You. Guide me, Lord, and make my paths straight. Thank You for Your unfailing love and wisdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

July 7th 2023 – New Beginnings Through God’s Grace

As we embark on a new day, we are often filled with a sense of anticipation and hope. New beginnings allow us to leave behind the past, wipe the slate clean, and embrace the possibilities that lie ahead. In our Christian journey, we are blessed with the promise of new beginnings through the transformative power of God’s grace.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, The Apostle Paul reminds us that when we come to Christ, we become new creations. Our past mistakes, regrets, and shortcomings no longer define us. Instead, we are given a fresh start, a chance to begin again. This newness is not something we can create on our own, but rather a gift from God Himself.

Just as the dawn breaks after a long night, God’s grace brings light and hope into the darkest corners of our lives. It is through His grace that we find forgiveness, redemption, and the strength to move forward. No matter how broken or lost we may feel, God’s love provides a way for us to experience a new beginning.

In embracing this new beginning, we are called to surrender our old ways and patterns of living. It requires humility and a willingness to let go of our own desires and ambitions, instead aligning our hearts with God’s will. As we embark on this fresh chapter, let us seek His guidance and direction, seeking to honor Him in all that we do.

Remember, that new beginnings are not just a one-time event but a continuous process. Each day, we have the opportunity to turn to God, seek His forgiveness, and experience His transforming power. Let us approach each new day with gratitude and a readiness to embrace the newness that God’s grace provides.

As we walk this journey of faith, let us encourage one another, reminding ourselves and our fellow believers of the promise of new beginnings in Christ. May we extend the same grace and love that we have received to those around us, helping them discover the hope and joy that comes from starting anew.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of new beginnings through Your grace. Help us to fully embrace this fresh start, leaving behind our past mistakes and embracing the possibilities that lie ahead. Guide us in aligning our hearts with Your will, allowing Your transforming power to work in us each day. May we be a light to others, extending Your love and grace to those in need. In Jesus’ name, we pray. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

September 24th 2018 – Poor In Spirit

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)

This is a popular verse that is spoken alot in recovery programs.. however often people get confused with what it means.

Jesus is speaking about a kind of spiritual poverty. Simply this: We must be humble in our spirits. If you put the word “humble” in place of the word “poor,” you will understand what He is speaking about.

Taken from the Beatutides.  Let us begin today with the first “beattitude to be in our lives”: the attitude of humility.  By talking about being “poor in spirit” Jesus is saying that this is the opposite of self-sufficiency.  “Poor in spirit” speaks of those who realize that they are totally helpless and lost apart from God.  The person who is poor in spirit realizes his own utter helplessness without the Lord, and puts his whole trust in God.

When we think we are ok because we are a good person, we are depending on our own self-righteousness.  But self-righteousness will not make you happy.  Self-righteousness will not get you into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Apart from God, we are totally lost.  It is only by God’s grace that we can be saved. (Ephesians 2:8-9) says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

We have to remember that going to church will not save us.  Reading our Bible will not save us.  Praying will not save us.  Only a relationship with Jesus will save us.  Only making Him Lord of our lives will save us.  Good works are good, but salvation only comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

(John 14:6) Jesus said to him, :I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

When we come to this place of knowing that all we are, and ever will be, is because of Jesus, life takes a big turn for the better.  Being poor in heart, this true humility of soul, says, “Lord, You are the great Shepherd.  I have messed up my life in so many ways.  Today, I give it to you and I know that You will make a success out of it.”

That is true humility!  That is knowing that He is Lord, and giving Him the lordship of your life.  So today, do not back down.  Go ahead and live the abundant life by being poor in spirit.  When we are poor in spirit, we are rich in life, because He gives us His Kingdom.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father. I thank you for your presense in my life, I pray that will draw me close during this time of heartache and pain. I continue to choose to let humility of heart rule within me.  Jesus You are lordship of my life, and I know that You will guide me in the best path for my life. I love you Jesus.. in Your precious name, Amen.
