August 17th 2025 – Fruit of the Spirit – Part 5 of 9

We are on the 5th day of a 9-day journey to learn about all of the fruit of the Spirit – the gifts of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that come from God.

Gentleness (kindness) — We should live “in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left” (2 Corinthians 6:6-7).

Let’s take a look at what, according to Scripture, accompanies true kindness: “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each another, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)

To consistently live up to all this is humanly impossible! But “with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)

Kindness starts with caring —being tenderhearted and compassionate toward others. (Proverbs 12:10)

We must make it our goal and habit to be actively looking for opportunities to show kindness. When we see one, we need to act quickly before the opportunity is gone.

“Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions” (1 John 3:18)

Some people think kindness is weak—not something for “go-getters” to be bothered with. Big mistake! If we want God, who has ultimate control of how things go, to be kind to us, we’d better be kind to others. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7)

Lack of kindness is epidemic. The apostle Paul accurately foretold a cold and hard-hearted world “in the last days” (2 Timothy 3:1-2)

Jesus Christ practiced kindness that was radical for that time and culture. He always had great concern for women as well as men, for children as well as adults, for other races as well as the Jewish race, and for the sick and weak as well as the strong. Often He wore Himself out praying for people, healing people, feeding people and helping them in other ways.

When Jesus looked on the multitudes of people with all their problems, sicknesses and confusion, He was “moved with compassion” (Matthew 9:36, 14:14, 18:27)

As we look at the people around us, we, too, should be moved with gentleness, compassion and kindness. We, too, should be helping, giving, sharing, caring, encouraging, extending mercy, filled with compassion and acting on it as we are able.

With each of us, may the fruit of kindness continue to blossom and grow. Above all, may we strive to follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, who personified God’s heart in the greatest example of loving-kindness.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins and for giving me the opportunity to experience life more abundantly. Lord, thank You for revealing Yourself to me through Your Word. I want learn how offer gentleness, kindness and compassion to others in a way that You teach. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 13th 2025 – Fruit of the Spirit – Part 1 of 9

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things, there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

The term “Fruit of the Spirit” encapsulates the nine essential attributes that should define a genuine Christian life. These attributes—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—are not simply individual traits to be selected at will. Instead, they collectively represent the singular fruit that characterizes those who truly walk in the Holy Spirit. Every Christian is called to embody these qualities as a testament to their journey with Jesus Christ.

The fruit of the Spirit serves as a tangible reflection of a believer’s transformed life. To grow in our faith, it’s crucial to explore and embrace these nine attributes:

Over the next eight days, we will dive into the Nine Biblical Attributes of the Fruit of the Spirit. Let’s start with the first: Love.

Love

“We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” (1 John 4:16)

In our relationship with Jesus Christ, our ultimate aim should be to act in love. As stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Fruit of the Spirit = Visible Growth in Jesus Christ

“In every act of love, we reflect the heart of God; it is through love that we uncover the true essence of our faith.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I invite you into my heart. While I await the day I can be with you, I thank you for making your home within me through the Holy Spirit. I am grateful for your love and the gift of love you’ve bestowed upon me. The true essence of love can only flourish through the presence of Your Holy Spirit in my life. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I thank you and praise you. Amen.

August 1st 2025 – Spiritual Pride

“Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.” (Romans 2:1)

In Romans chapter one, we learn about the unrighteousness of man. In chapter two, Paul addresses our self-righteousness; our desire to consider ourselves better than everybody else. Nobody wants to be labeled self-righteous, yet we are often quick to judge others. It’s essential to be aware of our own weaknesses and sinfulness. If you think that upon becoming a Christian you ceased to sin, consider this passage:

“If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place.” (1 John 1:8-10)

Examine yourself. If you spend more time contemplating the sins of others than acknowledging your own, you risk developing spiritual pride, which is an offense to God. Have you ever looked at someone and thought there was no hope for them? In doing so, you imply that God’s mercy is limited. You are pridefully asserting that your sins can be forgiven while another’s cannot. Every person, regardless of how we perceive them, is in need of God’s saving grace.

Pause and reflect: How much have you been forgiven? Does this mean we should refrain from speaking into others’ lives? Not at all. We can and should, but our approach must be one of love, not condemnation. Just as God has generously poured His grace upon you, allow that same grace to inform your interactions with others. Offer insights from your experiences with a heart full of compassion. Remember, you cannot condemn someone while simultaneously offering hope. The moment we slip into condemnation is the moment we lose sight of our true mission: to share the love of Jesus.

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18)

“Pridefully seeing the sin in others does not root out the sin in us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the boundless grace and forgiveness You extend to me, even in my moments of weakness. I am deeply grateful for the cleansing power of Your love. Please forgive me for the times I have allowed pride to cloud my judgment, leading me to condemn others in my heart. Help me to see them through Your eyes, recognizing that we all stand in need of Your mercy. Grant me the courage and compassion to share the message of Jesus with those I encounter, extending the same grace I have received. May my words reflect Your love and truth, and may I never lose sight of the mission You have entrusted to me. Thank You for Your constant presence in my life. In Your precious name, I pray, Amen.

July 25th 2025 – The Purpose of a Compass?

“..the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” (Acts 5:32)

The purpose of a compass extends beyond merely indicating our location when we feel lost; it serves as a vital guide, directing us along the path we need to take. A compass becomes ineffective if we do not heed its direction.

In the Gospels, Jesus introduces the apostles to the Holy Spirit, promising that He will guide them into all truth. He refers to the Holy Spirit as the “Paraclete,” a term meaning “One who comes alongside us, attaching Himself to us for the purpose of assisting us.” Jesus assures them that if they love Him and keep His commandments, He will ask the Father to send them the Holy Spirit (John 14:15-16).

Many believers overlook this crucial aspect. While the key word for embracing salvation is “Believe,” the essential word for cultivating a relationship with God through the Holy Spirit is “Obey.”

In a beautifully simple hymn, the sentiment is expressed: “But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay. For the favor He shows and the joy He gives are for them who will trust and obey. Trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.”

Jesus encapsulates this call in a powerful invitation: “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19) This makes the final point on our compass the most critical of all.

Are you willing to comply with what your compass reveals?

“Make the time to listen to His good direction through the Holy Spirit.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with an open heart, yearning for Your guidance. Open my eyes to see the areas in my life where I need to ask the hard questions and confront the truths that may challenge me. Grant me understanding on how to embody the Truth I profess, and shower me with Your grace when I falter. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that my life reflects Your love and purpose.

Today, I choose to prioritize listening to Your gentle voice within me. I acknowledge that You desire for me to hear You clearly. Help me carve out moments of stillness and quiet in my busy life, so I can attune my heart to Your whispers.

Lord, I open my heart for an honest conversation with You, seeking clarity, peace, and guidance for my journey ahead. I trust in Your plans for me and commit to following where You lead, knowing that Your way is the path to true fulfillment. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

July 9th 2025 – Anchored In Truth

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” (Hebrews 6:19)

In the tumultuous seas of life, where storms of doubt, fear, and confusion can easily sweep us away, we find our steadfast anchor in the Word of God. Just as a ship relies on its anchor to stay grounded amidst raging waters, we too must cling to the truths of Scripture to remain firm and secure in our faith.

As we navigate through life, the culture around us often shifts, presenting ideas and values that may contradict the teachings of Christ. It can be tempting to drift with the currents of society, adopting beliefs that are popular but not rooted in truth. However, we are called to stand firm, holding fast to the teachings of Scripture that illuminate our path and guide our hearts.

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in this journey of discernment. In John 16:13, we are reminded that “when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” The Holy Spirit empowers us to discern truth from lies, helping us to recognize the whispers of culture that seek to lead us astray. By seeking the Spirit’s guidance through prayer and reflection on God’s Word, we can cultivate a heart that remains anchored in His truth.

How can you strengthen your anchor in the Word of God this week?
In what areas of your life do you feel the pull of cultural beliefs? How can you stand firm in God’s truth in those situations?
Take a moment to pray, asking the Holy Spirit for discernment and clarity as you navigate the challenges of life.

As we continue our journey, let us remain anchored in the hope we have in Christ, knowing that His promises are true and everlasting.

“True strength lies not in never falling, but in rising each time we do, anchored by faith and guided by hope.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word, which serves as our anchor amidst life’s storms. Help us to stand firm in Your truth and resist the temptations of culture that seek to lead us astray. May we be guided by Your Holy Spirit, discerning truth from lies, and living boldly for You. In Jesus name, Amen.

July 8th 2025 – The Comforter Within

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

As believers in Jesus Christ, we are gifted with the Holy Spirit, our constant companion and guide. This divine presence dwells within us, transforming our hearts and minds. The Holy Spirit acts as our Advocate, comforting us in times of distress, guiding us in the truth, and empowering us to live according to God’s will.

Imagine the profound reality of having the Spirit of God living within you. This is not just a theological concept; it is a life-changing truth. The Holy Spirit brings peace in chaos, joy in sadness, and strength in weakness. He reminds us of God’s promises and helps us to understand His Word more deeply.

Consider how often we may feel alone or uncertain in our journey of faith. Yet, the Holy Spirit reassures us that we are never abandoned. He intercedes for us, even when we do not know what to pray (Romans 8:26). In every situation, we can rely on His wisdom and guidance.

Take a moment to sit in silence and invite the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. Reflect on how His presence has made a difference in your life. Consider areas where you need His guidance or comfort today.

This week, make a conscious effort to acknowledge the Holy Spirit in your daily activities. When faced with decisions or challenges, pause and ask for His guidance. Keep a journal of moments when you felt His presence, and share these experiences with others to encourage their faith.

“The Holy Spirit is not just a visitor in our hearts; He is the constant companion who empowers us to live out our faith boldly and beautifully.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help me to be more aware of His presence in my life. May I listen to His guidance and lean on His strength. Fill me with Your Spirit, so that I may reflect Your love and truth in all that I do. In Jesus name, Amen.

“I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh.” (Romans 9:1-3)

The Apostle Paul’s profound love and sacrifice serve as a compelling challenge for us to examine our own commitments to those around us. He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, prioritizing the eternal well-being of others over his own comfort. Are we prepared to do the same?

As Christians, we often impose conditions on our willingness to serve. We may think, “I will help, but only if it doesn’t disrupt my routine,” or “I’ll share my faith, but only if it feels comfortable.” However, we must ask ourselves: what conditions did Jesus place on His love and sacrifice for us?

Consider a common scenario: a homeless individual approaches you for help. Your instinct might be to hesitate, fearing that giving them money could enable harmful habits. But what if, instead of judgment, you offered kindness, shared a meal, or simply took a moment to pray with them? Remember, Jesus died for that person just as He did for you. Let’s strive to be enablers of grace, extending the choice of faith in Christ to those in need.

Reflect on the relationships in your life—friends, family, or acquaintances who may not yet know Christ. Would you hesitate to save someone from drowning? Of course not. Let’s set aside our excuses and move beyond our comfort zones.

As followers of Jesus, we are called to care deeply and be willing to sacrifice for those who have yet to experience His love and salvation.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the incredible gift of salvation that You have given me. I am grateful for Your unconditional love and grace. Today, I ask that You soften my heart toward others, helping me to see them through Your eyes. Fill me with compassion for those who are lost, hurting, or in need of hope.

Open my eyes to the opportunities around me to share Your love, whether through kind words, actions, or a listening ear. Empower me to be courageous in my faith, willing to step out of my comfort zone to reach those who need You. Help me to recognize that each interaction is a chance to reflect Your light.

In these challenging times, remind me that my purpose is not just to believe, but to act in love and service. May I be an instrument of Your grace, enabling others to choose You. In Jesus’ precious name, I pray, Amen.

June 27th 2025 – Truth

“Woe to those who devise iniquity, and work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. They covet fields and take them by violence, and houses, and seize them. So they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.” (Micah 1:1-2)

In this passage, we witness the troubling reality of those in power exploiting the vulnerable. This scenario is all too familiar in our world today. Many believe it is permissible to manipulate others for personal gain, whether in positions of authority or everyday interactions.

Consider your role as a leader—be it in government, your workplace, or even within your family. Are you leveraging your position to serve your own interests? Let’s delve deeper: Do you manipulate your relationships with family, friends, or colleagues for personal advantage? When we truly understand someone, it can be tempting to exploit their weaknesses for our benefit. This behavior is not aligned with God’s principles, and He does not bless such deceitful practices.

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Even in moments where it feels like the only option is to compromise the truth for personal gain, God is faithful to provide an escape route. Taking responsibility for our actions is a vital trait of a true disciple. God honors those who admit their mistakes, even when it’s challenging. Embrace the Biblical model in your relationships, even when it defies logic.

Ultimately, your journey boils down to a decision about Jesus. How far are you willing to follow Him in your relationships? Will you remain steadfast even when it becomes inconvenient or painful? Are you ready to adhere to the Biblical model, regardless of the personal cost? Will you choose self-gain or lay down your life for the sake of the Gospel?

“One hallmark of a godly leader is the commitment to uphold Biblical principles, even in the face of personal hardship.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering love and for the transformative work You are doing in my life. You have called me to live as a disciple, and I choose to honor You by embodying the model You have set before me. Lord, in challenging times when I falter, grant me the courage and strength to uphold Your Truth and inspire others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

June 25TH 2025 – What Really Matters

“Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying: ‘What share have we in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel! Now see to your own house, O David!'” (2 Chronicles 10:16)

In today’s world, filled with 24-hour news cycles and constant updates, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by negativity. With reports of political divisions between people, wars and conflict, and disasters, it’s natural to feel anxious or even hopeless. In 2 Chronicles 10, we see the people of Israel grappling with the splitting of their nation. Instead of looking to God for hope, they focused on their circumstances and felt lost.

Philippians 4:8 reminds us to shift our focus: “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

No matter where we find ourselves whether personally or as a nation. It’s easy to get caught up in negativity. Recently, in the USA, we’ve seen a lot of polarization, hate, and fear, much like the turmoil described in the Bible regarding the end times. It’s easy to feel swept away by these overwhelming narratives.

Instead of fixating on the bad news and the plans of darkness, let’s turn our attention to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. When we fix our eyes on Him, we discover peace and the promise of an abundant life.

“Follow only that which leads you to Jesus, because that’s what truly matters.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your grace and forgiveness. Help me be discerning about what I listen to and who I follow. May I always remember Your goodness and grace in my life. I am grateful for my family, friends, and all those around me. Use me to share positivity and truth with others, drawing them closer to You, where they will find real hope and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

June 11th 2025 – God’s Love Never Fails

“Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Have you ever contemplated the meaning of love from an eternal perspective? One day, everything we know on this earth will transform. When Christ returns in all His glory, heaven will merge with our reality, altering our lives, homes, bodies, and relationships forever. The things we often hold dear—our achievements, possessions, and even the knowledge we’ve gained—will fade into insignificance. Yet, amidst all this change, one truth remains constant: love.

When we stand before Christ, our faith will no longer be necessary, and the hope for a brighter future will be fulfilled. But love will endure. The love that spoke the universe into existence and breathed life into humanity will continue to nourish the saints in heaven. This is not just any love; it is the divine love that walked among us, healing the sick, comforting the brokenhearted, and ultimately, bearing our sins on the cross. This same love has prepared a place for us for all eternity. The love that empowers us in this life will also embrace us in the next. It is a love that transcends time and space, a love that is constant in its commitment, unwavering in its support, and ever-present in our darkest moments. This love never fails, never falters, and never tires. It is the unwavering love of God.

“We love Him because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)

Since this love is everlasting, let us start embodying it today. We will share eternity with our brothers and sisters in Christ, so why not express that love now? Love is not merely a feeling; it is an action, a choice we make daily. As we extend the love given to us through Christ—through kindness, compassion, and forgiveness—the world will take notice and yearn for the same. Our love can be a reflection of God’s grace, a testimony of His goodness. When they seek it, we can guide them to the infinite source of love—Jesus, who is the embodiment of love itself.

Let us remember that love releases the power of the Spirit in our lives and in our churches. It brings unity where there is division, healing where there is hurt, and hope where there is despair. When we allow God’s love to flow through us, we become vessels of His grace, agents of change in a world that desperately needs it.

“Amidst the fleeting whispers of knowledge and the temporary echoes of prophecy, love stands eternal, unwavering in its promise to endure through all trials and tribulations.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for the profound love You have shown me. Thank You for loving me unconditionally, for Your grace that covers my shortcomings, and for the hope that fills my days. Help me to love others in the same way You have loved me—without reservation and with a heart that seeks the best for them. Teach me to recognize opportunities to share Your love, whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or a helping hand. May my actions reflect Your light in this world, drawing others closer to You. Use me today as an instrument of Your peace and a beacon of Your love. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
