November 18th 2015 – Love to the Extreme!

images (20)

“I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, Your vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the LORD.” (Amos 4:9)

Often in the Scriptures, we read of the judgments of God and gasp as we see Israel and other nations suffering under the Lord’s power. While the judgments of God are difficult, we must understand that all through the Old Testament God is showing grace and mercy. In the prophets, He calls for people to turn from their wicked ways and He will forgive them. You see friend, while God’s discipline can often seem extreme, His love is just as potent.

(Romans 5:8) “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” NKJV

Love to the Extreme – that is what the God of all creation has shown towards us. While we were steeped in sin and suffering under the weight of condemnation, He stepped out of heaven and gave His life for ours. The punishment that we deserved was placed upon Jesus on the cross. Each strike of the nails that pierced His hands was done so that we could know forgiveness. Each cruel word and slash of the whip on Jesus’ body happened so that we could spend eternity with Him. All we have to do is come to Jesus seeking forgiveness and trusting in Him for salvation. As we do, we take part in the greatest love anyone could ever know.

God goes to extreme measures to reveal His love for us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that I have done and sometimes do wrong. Today, I come to You and ask that You would forgive me of all my sins. I confess that Jesus is Lord and I believe that He died for my sins and was raised from the grave three days later. Lord, make me a new creation and fill me with Your Spirit so that I can live for You. In Jesus name, Amen

If you prayed that prayer, please drop me a email and lwt me know. I want to pray with you and for you.

November 17th 2015 – In the Blink of an Eye

images-9

“but when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away with.” (1 Corinthians 13:10)

Most of us hate change. We like our routines and desire to walk through life not having to change it up too often. Maybe this is because we like to feel we are in control and anything we are not ready for frightens us. Well friend, there is something coming that I pray you are ready for. This change will affect you, me and everyone on the face of our planet. It’s something far more powerful than a war or natural disaster, in fact, it’s not a something at all – it’s a someone.

(Revelation 21:4)  “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

In the blink of an eye, every follower of Christ on earth will be made new. The old will pass and the new will come. We will see our Lord face to face and our lives will never be the same. Yes, this change is the greatest change of all, but we must be ready or we’ll miss it. You see, we do not know the day or hour of this change, but we do know how we can prepare. God’s Word is clear. We have a choice here on earth to follow Him and find forgiveness of sin and hope of Heaven or reject Him and find judgment. If you have never asked God to forgive you of your sins and trusted in Jesus as your Savior, then today is the day. There are many promises in the Bible, but tomorrow is not one of them. Pray to Him today and you’ll be ready for the day when everything changes for eternity.

One day everything will change – everything.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that I have done wrong things. I pray that You would forgive me of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and that He was raised from the dead. Today, I trust in Him and ask that You fill me with Your Spirit so that I can share this wonderful news with a lost and hurting world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation

If you have never experienced asking Jesus to be you Lord and Savior, please dont wait. Your life will never be the same. Please contact me at roblavallee@gmail.com if you have any questions.

November 16th 2015 – Treaure of God

images (18)

“So all the work that Solomon had done for the house of the LORD was finished; and Solomon brought in the things which his father David had dedicated: the silver and the gold and all the furnishings. And he put them in the treasuries of the house of God.” (2 Chronicles 5:1)

Solomon was one of the greatest kings of Israel and the one God chose to build His temple. Once finished, Solomon filled the treasuries with wealth unimaginable. While this was a blessing to the Lord, there is a treasure God values more than all of the world’s riches. That treasure, my friend, is you.

You are the pearl of great price that our Savior bled and died for. God had all He could ever want in the heavenly realm, but He left it all so that humanity could be saved and spend eternity with Him. Why would He do it you ask? Simple, His love for you.

(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Never Forget – You are a valuable and precious treasure to God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the salvation You offer through Jesus. While I know I have sinned, I also understand that You died so that I can be forgiven. Change my heart and my life so that I may be used to share the Gospel with the world around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

November 15th 2015 – Welcome to Gods Family

download (11)

“Praise God for the privilege of being in Christ’s family and being called by his wonderful name!” (1 Peter 4:16)

Healthy families have family pride; members are not ashamed to be recognized as a part of the family. Sadly, there are many church members who’ve never publicly identified themselves with God’s family by being baptized.

Baptism is not some optional ritual to be delayed or postponed. It signifies your inclusion in God’s family. It publicly announces to the world, “I am not ashamed to be a part of God’s family.” Jesus commanded this beautiful act for all in his family.

For years I wondered why Jesus’ Great Commission gives the same prominence to baptism as it does to the great tasks of evangelism and edification. Why is baptism so important? Because it symbolizes one of the purposes of your life: incorporation into the fellowship of God’s eternal family.

Baptism declares your faith, shares Christ’s burial and Resurrection, symbolizes your death to your old life, and announces your new life in Christ. It is also a celebration of your inclusion in God’s family.

Your baptism is a physical picture of a spiritual truth. It represents what happened the moment God brought you into his family.

Baptism doesn’t make you a member of God’s family; only faith in Christ does that. Baptism shows you are part of God’s family. Like a wedding ring, it is a visible reminder of an inward commitment made in your heart. It is an act of initiation, not something you put off until you are spiritually mature. The only biblical condition is that you believe.

The Bible says, “Jesus and the people he makes holy all belong to the same family. That is why he isn’t ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters” (Hebrews 2:11).

Being included in God’s family is the highest honor, the greatest privilege you and I will ever receive. Nothing else comes close. Why not pause right now and thank God that he included you?

Let that amazing truth sink in! Because Jesus makes you holy, God is proud of you.. If you haven’t been baptized as an expression of your faith in Christ, do so immediately, as Jesus commanded.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we love and praise you for being who you are, (The One True God.) I thank you for loving me and for welcoming me into your family with open arms. I am proud to be called a child of God. Thank You for revealing to me the significance of dieing to ones self, leaving all of our old ways and being reborn a new creation with a clean slate and a fresh start.  I pray tonight that anyone that has not publically announced thier faith through baptism would do so as soon as poasible. In your precious name Amen.

November 14th 2015 – The Parable of the Lost Son

images (17)

“And he said, “There was a man who had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of property that is coming to me.’ And he divided his property between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered all he had and took a journey into a far country, and there he squandered his property on reckless living. And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything.“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me as one of your hired servants.” ’ And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and he embraced him and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his servants, Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. And bring bthe fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and now is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

“Now his older son was in the field, and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. And he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and sound.’ But he was angry and refused to go in. His father came out and entreated him,  but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might ecelebrate with my friends. But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’  And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’ ”(Luke 15:11-32)

The most solid Christian parents have experienced the pain of watching a child stray from their Christian beliefs. As public education, media and government attack our biblical worldview, young students—who start off very idealistic—are subject to being seduced away from their faith. This is sadly a regular occurrence, leaving many Christian parents heartbroken and wondering what they did wrong.

First of all, understand you can do everything right as a parent, but still witness your child fall away for a period. Satan is cunning and persistent, always seeking to lead people stray. The first step when this occurs is to not be absorbed in self-pity or unnecessary doubt. Continue loving your child, but fight for him or her on your knees, praying. God promises when we raise a child in His ways, though he strays, he will come home. Hold on to that promise, no matter how long it takes.

Second, do not isolate or disown your child. God does not do that to us as His adopted children so we should never give up on our children or stop loving them. Pray together as husband and wife and ask God how you should handle this situation. Seek His wisdom and peace.

Bad choices invite bad consequences. If there are ways to lovingly bring consequences to the table for your child who strays, do so. But never be punitive—make the consequences and your attitude restorative. The goal is not to punish, it is to restore. This is a great opportunity to teach them about choices having consequences. If they stray and reject God, be firm but loving when bringing forth consequences. If we fail to help them see real consequences for bad choices, we simply reinforce a selfish attitude in them.

Never give up on them. Pray for them; talk with them; understand why they have chosen to stray. Deal with them as rational adults, even if they are not acting like one. Understand their departure from the faith might be a temporary revolt, or a severe life change. How we handle the conflict goes a long way to determining which will win.

Love your children as God loves us—so much that He will allow bad consequences to bring us back to Him. Commit to praying every day for your children. From eeading the parable of The Prodigal Son and realize God never abandons us, so never abandon your children. Bring accountability, love and forgiveness together by a move of the Holy Spirit—and lean on God for the understanding and wisdom necessary to lead them back to Jesus.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I lift up my son to you Lord and ask that you please help him restore his life to what You had intended for him. Satan has trapped him and deceives him daily. Please open my sons eyes and speak truth directly to him Lord,  please help him realize how much he is loved and how valuable he is to you Lord. You love him so much Lord Jesus that you went to the cross for him..

I love You Jesus. ln Your Holy Name Amen.

November 13th 2015 – Why Are We Here

images-7

“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,” (Galatians 1:15-16 )

“Why are we here?” Have you ever asked that question? Do you have a purpose more than just a day to day existence? There are many in our world that are going through life with no direction or purpose. When I hear about individuals in that situation it is upsetting because I know the joy that comes with living for Jesus. If you are a Christian and you are not involved in evangelism, you are probably not enjoying ministry. We should be sharing the Gospel of Christ. I know that just the thought of sharing your faith can bring up fears, but through the power of Christ we can overcome those fears in order to reach the lost. Let’s go!

You were created to reach and bless others and to help change the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the good news of the Gospel. Help me to share this good news with all those around me. Remove my fears and replace those fears with faith. Give me the power of Your Spirit to reach the world with the Gospel. In Jesus’ name, Amen

November 12th 2015 – Live by Faith

download (9)

“Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)

Faith… That one word is very pregnant with meaning, but at its root, “faith” is trusting in God. To have faith is to trust that God is going to do what He says He will do. This is the essence of the Christian walk, and it is part of our salvation and our continued journey with the Lord. The hardest part about faith often comes in the waiting. God has promised us many things, including His return, yet our waiting for that to happen can be difficult. This is why it’s important to trust what God says over what we see around us.

When we look at the world around us, we see corrupt governments, sinful behaviors and the devil wreaking havoc in people’s lives. This causes us to cry out, “Lord Jesus, come,” but as we pray this, we also need to walk in faith. We need to trust that God’s plan is better than ours. He may be allowing the suffering to continue for a little longer so that others may come to salvation through Jesus. The good news is that one day He will return and when He does, all things will be made right and our world will never be the same. This is not a fairy tale, this is reality. Yes, we believe it by faith, but our faith is in the One God who has proven Himself faithful time and time again.

When Christ returns, the world will be remade, our flesh will be made new and the devil will be destroyed.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the promises in Scripture. Give me the faith to trust in those promises regardless of what I am feeling or what I see in the world around me. I believe with my whole heart that You are God, that Jesus is my Savior and that He will one day return. Give me the power to share this message of hope with all those around me. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen

November 11th 2015 – Thank You this Veteran’s Day

images (16)

“You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. (2 Timothy 2:1-7)

In the United States, Veteran’s Day is celebrated on November 11th; many other countries have similar days devoted to the honoring of their soldiers. In this devotion for Veterans Day let’s look at 2 Timothy 2:1-7 to discover the proper attitude for a soldier.

As far back in history we go, when cities and countries were formed, each found it necessary to protect themselves by developing an army of soldiers. The Bible records information about Kings and soldiers in the book of Genesis. The Bible also tells us in 2 Timothy that every Christian is a soldier of Jesus Christ.

God uses the illustration of the soldier to help us how to understand our responsibilities as soldiers in the army of God.

We know that soldiers have suffered and died throughout history to protect their own country. Many times God also calls the Christian soldier to suffer, and sometimes die for his faith. This should not come as a surprise to us. If you’ve been reading my Psalms devotions, you know that many of the Psalms of David are filled with laments over David’s suffering, especially when the enemies of God were devoted to killing him even when he had done nothing wrong.

When God calls us to suffer, we must cry out to God for help, for He alone can help us. You’ll find that the more you are consistently reading God’s Word and praying to Him, this becomes almost second nature. You will find yourself talking to the Lord throughout the day. I think that is exactly what Paul is referring to when he tells us to pray without ceasing.

What would happen in the midst of battle if each soldier decided to fight the battle the way he thought best. Chaos would soon set in. You would hope to fight against an army such as that because you would be guaranteed to win! Verse 4 tells us that the soldier seeks to please the one who enlisted him.

My father served as a pilot and a officer in World War II; during that time his first son was born, and his only brother died in a car accident. Don’t you think that would make him want to go home and forget about being a soldier? But, he did not go home because the battle was not over. I am so very proud of my father and the men and women like him who knew that their first allegiance as a soldier was to their country.

As a soldier of Christ, finish the battle! Don’t give up midstream’ don’t go back to the sins of your youth. Rather just as the athlete is not crowned until he competes according to the rules and finishes the race.

!I pray that you will be a faithful soldier of Jesus Christ so that you, too, will receive the Crown of Life at the end of your battle!

This Veterans Day, I Salute You! God Bless you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank you for all of the people that have risked thier lives and the ones that paid the ultimate price so that we can be live freely in this nation. I also thank You Lord for the ultimate sacrifice you made for me…. Please bring healing to our nation Lord God. In your precious name, Amen.

If you do not know the Lord, please considder His protection. He will never leave you or forsake you. Click Here to learn more about how to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

November 10th 2015 – Pieces of Wisdom

download (8)

My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge.” (Proverbs 5:1-2)

Every living person has choices to make. No matter the size, we all must choose. The question is not whether or not we will have to make a decision; rather the question is, “What will we base that decision on?” In the book of Proverbs, God delivers great wisdom to all of humanity. Some of it is common sense and other parts of it are contrary to what we would normally believe. So, why would God give us all these bits of wisdom? Because He is a loving Father desiring to see His children live a blessed life.

Understanding the reality of God’s wisdom in scripture is easy enough, using it to guide our lives is the tough part. For instance, Proverbs may speak of the blessings of correction but who really praises God when they are called out for doing something wrong? He also warns us against the dangers of all sin, even laziness and pride, yet each day we all forget or flat out reject these truths. So what is the solution? First, we must know God’s Word and trust that it is best. Secondly, we need to ask His Holy Spirit to strengthen us to walk in God’s wisdom. When we are directed by God’s Word and empowered by His Spirit, we will find our life is truly blessed.

God’s wisdom brings a preferred choice or direction for experiencing His best in our lives.

Prayer

Heavenly father, I know that I have made some foolish choices in the past. I desire to understand Your ways and to live by them because they are best. Fill me afresh with your Holy Spirit so that I can understand Your Word as well as put it into practice. Even in those times I fall short, I will praise You for the grace I find in Christ. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen

November 9th 2015 – What we do?

images (15)

“I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must turn from their sins and turn to God–and prove they have changed by the good things they do.” (Acts 26:20)

We often describe our Christian walk by the things we don’t do. We don’t drink. We don’t smoke pot. We don’t cuss. In fact, for some of us, not doing these things is an incredible testimony of God’s supernatural work in our lives. But we should also consider the things that we do.

In (Matthew 22:37-40), Jesus told us that we should love God and love others. Friend, you are not an accident; you were created with a divine purpose to be a blessing to others. You were created to hear the call, respond and be fruitful. In short, you were created to help God change the world. We know the things we shouldn’t do because we would be ashamed of them. But why are we not ashamed of the things we don’t do? Jesus called the man who did not use his talent wicked and lazy. If you fail to do something, you choose to fail at God’s plan for your life.

(James 2:17-18) “This is faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

(James 4:17) “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

Please take a moment and reflect. What are you doing to spread Gods love?

It is what we ‘do’ that shows we are followers of Jesus, as well as what we ‘don’t’ do.

Prayer

Dear God, I love You and want to serve You by serving others. Please give me eyes to see where and how I may be a blessing to others. Give me love for those around me. Please forgive me for times when I’ve done nothing. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

Invitation

“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to follow you always.”
