August 9th 2023 – Fruit of the Spirit (P9)

We are on the last day of a 9-day journey. As we studied this week. Paul listed nine godly virtues that constitute the fruit of God’s Spirit—the inward and outward effect of having the gift of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. They are “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control

Temperance (self-control) – “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love” (2 Peter 1:5-7).

Where the New King James Version has “self-control,” the earlier King James Version used the word “temperance,” meaning self-restraint. Today, however, this word usually has the narrower sense of moderation or, when referring to alcoholic drinks, total abstinence. Therefore, as commonly understood today, temperance is only a small part of self-control.)

Anothing thing to considder, Is the sequential order of the nine godly virtues significant? The first listed, love, is clearly the most important. Is self-control, then, last because it’s leastimportant? On the contrary, self-control is extremely vital. Paul emphasized it alongside “righteousness … and the judgment to come” (Acts 24:25)

Perhaps self-control is listed last as the capstone—since it takes a lot of self-control to exercise the other eight virtues! It takes a lot of self-control just to “bridle” one’s tongue. Maybe Paul was thinking of love and self-control as the two great bookends for the set.

We all face temptations to sin—all our lives. When confronted with temptation, we must strive, as far as possible, to get away from it—flee! Even if you think you have a lot of self-control, don’t put it to the test unnecessarily.

Consider some of the things we are told to flee: “Flee” from a “stranger” (a teacher of lies), “flee sexual immorality” as Joseph had to literally flee (Genesis 39:12) , flee from idolatry, flee all kinds of evil, flee also youthful lusts. (John 10:5)

Jesus said, “The spirit [one’s attitude] indeed is willing but the flesh [human willpower] is weak” (Mathew 26:41) Jesus said, “The spirit [one’s attitude] indeed is willing but the flesh [human willpower] is weak”

God will not take away a person’s free will to make choices in life. But as long as you keep inviting Him into your life, He will empower you “to will and to act according to His good purpose” (Philippians 2:13)

As with all of us, certainly your biggest spiritual enemy has been yourself. But take heart. With God’s great help, you can conquer the enemy!

If you don’t Have Jesus in your life. Please considder Him. See the link below on how to ask Him into your heart. It will change your life!

“We need self-control to avoid not only outright evil but also too much of the good things.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before you in prayer, to magnify and glorify your precious name. Draw close to me, Oh heavenly Father. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, shape me into who You want me to be. Allow Your will to be done in my life in order for me to become a living, breathing testimony. Take control Jesus, be my strengh. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, Lord. Allow me to display self-control when temptations draw near. Help me to resist whatever comes my way. Make me pure, holy and true when the enemy tries to intervene. Give me peace in my mind, body and soul so that I can remain focused on You and Your word daily. Let your Word be the bread that I crave and want as much as the air that I breathe.Let lustful desires, anger, guilt, jealousy, sorrow and pride just fall away at the sound of Your great name. May these things not control my actions, my emotions or even my thoughts. I continually desire to seek You. Give me the strength to overcome. Continue to grow the Fruits of the Spirit in me. Without you, I cannot go on, I need You,  in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

August 6th 2023 – Fruit of the Spirit (P6)

We are on the 6th day of a 9-day journey to learn about all of the fruit of the Spirit – the gifts of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that come from God

Goodness – “Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power” (2 Thessalonians 1:11). “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth” (Ephesians 5:9 ).

According to the Bible, badness comes naturally. “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.” (Romans 8:7) Goodness does not. But God has a wondrous plan to radically transform our character!

Though our natural inclination is to defy God in sin, He has determined to help us overcome that nature to live a life of righteousness and goodness. This is possible only through a relationship with Him. As the apostle John explained, “He who does good [as a way of life] is of God, but he who does evil [as a way of life] has not seen God [i.e., has not come to really know Him]” (3 John 1:11)

John also explained that those who truly are of God have God living in them through the Holy Spirit: “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit” (1 John 4:13)

The Paul explained to believers that God’s perfect, loving character is “poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Romans 5:5)

People speak of a life of comfort and affluence as “the good life.” But living a life close to God with all the great benefits He offers is the truly good life! Allow God to cultivate in you the good fruit of goodness. And that will lead to the gift of eternal life! That’s as good as it gets!

You can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. Below is a link with a very special prayer that will help guide you into Jesus’s loving arms.  I personally could not imangine a life without Jesus. He truly has saved my life.

“God knows how much we love Him by how much we are showing self-sacrificing love for other people.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for ALL that You have given me. Thank You for my friends and Family. I am grateful for Your love, Your mercy and the gift of eternal life through Jesus. Thank You for the blessings of life. Teach me to have a thankful heart and to share this gratefulness with others. Continue to guide me and teach me to develop these spiritual fruits in my life that I can be more like You Lord. Help me exhibit Goodness in all that I do. Protect me from the enemy and his evil schemes. I love You and am so greatful that You are in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

July 30th 2023 – The Five Spiritual Crowns

Today we embark on a journey to explore the five spiritual crowns that await every believer in Christ. These crowns represent the abundant blessings and rewards that our Heavenly Father has prepared for those who faithfully follow Him. As we delve into each crown, may our hearts be filled with awe and anticipation for the eternal inheritance that awaits us.

1. The Crown of Righteousness:

In 2 Timothy 4:8, the apostle Paul speaks of a crown of righteousness that is reserved for all who have longed for Christ’s return. This crown is awarded to those who eagerly anticipate and live in expectation of the blessed hope of Jesus’ second coming. It symbolizes the righteousness imputed to believers through faith in Christ and their dedication to holy living.

Let us live in a manner worthy of this crown, seeking to align our lives with the teachings of Christ and eagerly awaiting His glorious return.

2. The Crown of Glory:

As mentioned in 1 Peter 5:4, there is a crown of glory that awaits those who faithfully shepherd and serve God’s flock. This crown is given to shepherds, pastors, and all who lead others towards spiritual maturity and growth. It represents the honor and recognition bestowed upon those who faithfully steward the Word of God, nurturing and guiding others in their faith.

Let us strive to be faithful stewards of God’s Word, diligently serving and caring for those entrusted to our care, knowing that the crown of glory awaits those who lead with humility and love.

3. Crown of Life:

In Revelation 2:10, Jesus promises the crown of life to those who persevere through trials, even unto death. This crown signifies the eternal life and victory over death that believers receive through their unwavering trust in Christ. It is given to those who endure hardships, sufferings, and persecution for the sake of the Gospel

May we remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that the crown of life awaits those who faithfully endure, trusting in the eternal promises of our loving Savior.

4. The Incorruptible Crown:

In 1 Corinthians 9:25, the apostle Paul speaks of an incorruptible crown awarded to those who exercise self-control and discipline in their spiritual lives. This crown represents the victory over earthly temptations and the pursuit of heavenly treasures. It is given to those who live a life devoted to Christ, seeking to honor Him through their thoughts, words, and actions.

Let us strive to live a life of self-control and discipline, seeking to honor God in all we do, knowing that the incorruptible crown awaits those who faithfully pursue righteousness

5. The Crown of Rejoicing:

In 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20, Paul speaks of a crown of rejoicing that represents the joy and delight believers experience when they witness others coming to faith in Christ through their ministry and evangelism. This crown symbolizes the eternal impact of our efforts to share the Gospel and make disciples.

Let us be encouraged to share the love of Christ with others, eagerly participating in the Great Commission, knowing that the crown of rejoicing awaits those who faithfully proclaim the Good News.

As believers, we are blessed with the promise of these five spiritual crowns that represent the rewards and blessings prepared for us by our Heavenly Father. Let us live with an eternal perspective, striving to walk in righteousness, serve others faithfully, endure trials with hope, pursue heavenly treasures, and share the Gospel joyfully. May these crowns inspire us to live for the glory of God and anticipate the day when we can lay them at the feet of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, As I come before you today, I humbly ask for your guidance and blessings. I am in awe of your infinite wisdom and the love you share with us all. Today, I seek to understand and embrace the significance of the five spiritual crowns.

Grant me the crown of righteousness, so that I may walk in truth and integrity. Help me to always choose what is right, even when faced with challenges or temptations. May my actions reflect your teachings and bring light to those around me.

Bestow upon me the crown of life, for I yearn to live a life filled with purpose and meaning. Help me to find joy in each day, to cherish the moments, and to spread love and compassion wherever I go. May my existence be a testament to your grace and the beauty of life.

Grant me the crown of glory, so that I may honor and glorify your name. Guide me in using my talents and abilities to uplift others and bring about positive change. May my words and actions inspire others to seek you and find solace in your embrace.

Bless me with the crown of incorruptibility, so that I may resist the temptations of materialism and selfish desires. Help me to cultivate a heart that is pure and selfless, always putting the needs of others before my own. May I find contentment in simplicity and be a source of generosity and kindness.

Finally, bestow upon me the crown of rejoicing, for I long to share in the joy of your kingdom. Help me to bring hope and comfort to those who are hurting or lost. May I be a beacon of light, spreading your love and grace to all who cross my path.

In your divine presence, I find strength and purpose. Thank you for hearing my prayer and for the blessings you bestow upon me. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow spiritually and to wear these crowns with honor and humility. In your precious and glorious name, Amen.

May God’s grace and peace be with you, dear friend, as you continue your journey towards the crowns that await you in eternity.

July 29th 2023 – The Power of Forgiveness

Today, let us embark on a journey together, exploring the profound and beautiful concept of forgiveness. Forgiveness is a divine gift that has the power to heal wounds, restore relationships, and bring freedom to our souls. It is a cornerstone of our Christian faith, reflecting the boundless mercy and grace of our loving Heavenly Father.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” These words remind us that forgiveness is not merely a nice gesture but an essential part of our Christian walk. As recipients of God’s forgiveness, we are called to extend the same grace and mercy to others.

When we forgive, we release the burden of anger, resentment, and bitterness that weigh us down. It is like removing heavy chains that have held us captive for far too long. Forgiveness offers us freedom, enabling us to experience God’s peace and joy in our lives.

However, forgiveness is not always easy. It requires strength, humility, and a willingness to let go of our desire for justice. It may even seem impossible to forgive someone who has deeply wounded us. Yet, as followers of Christ, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, empowering us to forgive as we have been forgiven.

Let us remember the ultimate example of forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Despite the pain and suffering He endured, He still prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). Jesus demonstrated unfathomable love and forgiveness, even in the face of betrayal and crucifixion. His forgiveness brings hope, redemption, and eternal life to all who believe.

As we seek to forgive others, let us also remember to forgive ourselves. Sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is the one we see in the mirror. Yet, God’s grace is sufficient for us. When we accept His forgiveness and extend it to ourselves, we can experience true healing and restoration.

Today, I encourage you to reflect on any unforgiveness that may be lingering in your heart. Bring it before God in prayer, surrendering your pain and choosing to forgive. Allow His love to flow through you, breaking the chains of resentment and offering the gift of forgiveness to those who have hurt you.

May our lives be a living testament to the transformative power of forgiveness, reflecting the love and mercy of our Heavenly Father. Let forgiveness be the cornerstone upon which we build our relationships, bringing reconciliation, healing, and unity to the world around us.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come before you today seeking your guidance and strength as I embark on a journey of forgiveness. I acknowledge that forgiveness is not always easy, but I know that with your presence, all things are possible.

I confess that there are wounds in my heart caused by the actions of others. The pain and hurt have burdened me for far too long. Today, I choose to release these burdens into your loving hands. Help me to let go of anger, resentment, and bitterness, and replace them with your peace and love.

I understand that forgiveness is not condoning or excusing the wrongs done to me, but rather a choice to extend mercy and grace, just as you have shown me. You have forgiven me countless times, even when I didn’t deserve it. I am grateful for your unfailing love and the redemption I have found in your Son, Jesus Christ.

Teach me to forgive others as you have forgiven me. Fill my heart with compassion and understanding, helping me to see those who have hurt me through your eyes. Give me the strength to overcome pride, letting go of the desire for revenge or justice. Instead, enable me to extend forgiveness, offering the same freedom and grace that I have received from you.

Father, I also ask for your guidance in forgiving myself. Sometimes, I carry the weight of guilt and shame for past mistakes and failures. Help me to embrace your forgiveness fully, knowing that you have washed away my sins and made me new. Grant me the ability to forgive myself, releasing the chains that hold me back from experiencing your joy and purpose in my life.

I pray for those who have hurt me. Soften their hearts and bring them to a place of repentance and reconciliation. May your love and forgiveness transform their lives as it has transformed mine. Help me to navigate the path of forgiveness with wisdom and discernment, knowing that healing and restoration can only come through your grace.

Thank you, Lord, for the power of forgiveness. I surrender my hurts, my pain, and my struggles into your hands. Fill me with your peace, love, and compassion as I walk this journey of forgiveness. May my life be a testimony to your boundless mercy and grace. In the name of Jesus, who forgave us all, I pray. Amen.

July 28th 2023 – The Mighty Anvil

2 Corinthians 1:20 – “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

It has been said that the Bible is an anvil that’s worn out many a skeptic’s hammer. This means that what the Bible says is completely true and unchanging. Let’s really consider what that means for a moment.

It means our sins can be forgiven:

“In [Jesus Christ] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7)

It means we can become children of God:

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12)

It means we can one day live in heaven forever:

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2)

These things and more are true for those who know Jesus as Savior. If you have trusted in Jesus, then read His Word and trust in these amazing promises. These are promises of love, joy and peace in this life and the next. The world will try and cause you to doubt the Truth of God’s Word, but throughout history, the Bible has remained unmoving. Trust in it and find rest for your soul.

“Jesus and the Bible are both completely reliable and trustworthy.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for the many promises found in Your Word. Help me take each one to heart and to allow Your Truths to change me. Protect me from the fears and doubts that can cloud my thinking, and give me boldness to stand on Your Word and to share it with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

July 26th 2023 – God’s Love And Forgiveness

1 John 1:8-10 -“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

Today, let us take a moment to reflect on the transformative power of God’s love and forgiveness. In the book of 1 John, we are reminded of the importance of acknowledging our own imperfections and the incredible grace that awaits us when we turn to God with a humble heart.

In verse 8, John gently reminds us, “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” It’s easy to fall into the trap of self-righteousness or denial, believing that we are free from sin. However, John urges us to be honest with ourselves and recognize that we are all in need of God’s mercy.

But here’s the beautiful part: in verse 9, John gives us hope by saying, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” How incredible is it that our Heavenly Father, in His infinite love, is always ready to forgive us when we approach Him with a contrite heart? God’s faithfulness and justice mean that He will never withhold His forgiveness from those who sincerely seek it.

Moreover, in verse 10, John reminds us that we are not left in a state of condemnation when we acknowledge our sins, but rather we are brought into a loving relationship with God. He says, “If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.” It is through our humility and confession that we open ourselves up to receive the abundant grace and mercy that God so generously pours out upon us.

Today, let us embrace the freedom that comes from confessing our sins and turning to God. It is through this act of surrender that we can experience the depth of His love, the fullness of His forgiveness, and the transformation of our hearts. Remember, God is always ready to embrace us, to cleanse us, and to restore us to a place of wholeness and joy.

As you go throughout your day, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the power of confession and the incredible gift of God’s forgiveness. Embrace His love, accept His grace, and allow Him to guide you on the path of righteousness. May His mercy and compassion fill your heart and overflow into the lives of those around you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We come before you today with humble hearts, acknowledging our own imperfections and the weight of our sins. As we meditate on the words of 1 John 1:8-10, we are reminded of the importance of confession and the incredible gift of your forgiveness.

Lord, we confess that at times we have claimed to be without sin, deceiving ourselves and denying the truth that you have revealed to us. We humbly ask for your forgiveness for the times we have fallen into pride, self-righteousness, or denial of our own shortcomings. Help us to be honest with ourselves and to approach you with genuine repentance.

Thank you for the amazing promise contained in verse 9. We hold onto your faithfulness and justice, knowing that when we confess our sins, you are always ready to forgive us. Your mercy knows no bounds, and your love reaches into the depths of our hearts, cleansing us from all unrighteousness. We are grateful for the purification that comes through your grace.

Lord, we also recognize that claiming to be without sin makes you out to be a liar, and we humbly submit to your truth. Help us to continually surrender to your will, knowing that apart from you, we can do nothing. Strengthen us to walk in humility, acknowledging our need for your guidance and grace every step of the way.

As we reflect on the power of confession and your boundless forgiveness, may it transform us from the inside out. Shape our hearts, O Lord, that we may become vessels of your love, mercy, and compassion. Fill us with your Holy Spirit, that we may extend forgiveness to others just as you have forgiven us.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for your unfailing love and the promise of redemption found in 1 John 1:8-10. We rest in the assurance that through confession and repentance, we are brought into a loving relationship with you. May your grace surround us, your mercy cover us, and your truth guide us each day. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

July 25th 2023 – Jesus is King – A Devotion of Surrender

Isaiah 9:6 – “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

In a world where many strive for power, control, and recognition, we find true solace in the fact that Jesus is our King. He is not an earthly ruler, but the ruler of our hearts, minds, and souls. Jesus’ kingship is unlike any other, for His kingdom is one of love, mercy, and redemption.

1. Jesus the Wonderful Counselor:

Reflect on the times when life’s challenges overwhelmed you. In those moments, remember that Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor. His wisdom is boundless, and His guidance is unfailing. As we surrender our worries and fears to Him, He provides comfort, direction, and hope. Let us seek His counsel in all areas of our lives, trusting that His plans for us are perfect.

2. Jesus the Mighty God:

Consider the areas in your life where you feel weak or inadequate. Jesus, as the Mighty God, is our source of strength and power. In Him, we find the ability to overcome obstacles, face trials with courage, and experience victory over sin. Surrender your weaknesses to Him, and watch as He transforms them into opportunities for growth and testimony.

3. Jesus the Everlasting Father:

Think about the times when you longed for a loving, nurturing presence in your life. Jesus, as the Everlasting Father, offers us unconditional love, acceptance, and provision. He cares for us as a gentle shepherd cares for his sheep. Embrace His fatherly love, knowing that He will never leave nor forsake you. Trust in His provision, both spiritually and materially, for He knows your every need.

4. Jesus the Prince of Peace:

Reflect on the chaos and turmoil that often surrounds us. Jesus, as the Prince of Peace, brings calm to our troubled hearts. Through Him, we can experience a peace that surpasses all understanding, even in the midst of life’s storms. Surrender your worries, anxieties, and burdens to Him, and allow His peace to reign in your soul.

So today, let us surrender our lives fully to Jesus, our King. As we acknowledge His authority, may we find comfort in His counsel, strength in His might, love in His fatherhood, and peace in His reign. May our devotion to Him be evident in every aspect of our lives. Remember, Jesus is not just a historical figure or an idea; He is alive and desires an intimate relationship with each of us. Let us walk in the truth that Jesus is King, now and forevermore.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for being our King. We surrender our lives, our hopes, and our dreams to You. Open our hearts to receive Your counsel, strength, love, and peace. Help us to live each day in surrender to Your lordship, knowing that You are the true source of life and fulfillment. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

July 23rd 2023 – Remembering God’s Guidance

Today, let us reflect upon Psalm 9:17, which says, “The wicked go down to the realm of the dead, all the nations that forget God.” This verse serves as a gentle reminder of the consequences that arise when we lose sight of our devotion to God.

In our daily lives, it can be easy to get caught up in the busyness and distractions that surround us. We may find ourselves drifting away from God’s loving presence, forgetting His teachings and guidance. However, this powerful verse calls us to realign our hearts and minds with God’s truth.

Take a moment to reflect upon your own spiritual journey. Are there areas in your life where you may have inadvertently forgotten God? Are there habits, thoughts, or actions that need to be surrendered to His loving care?

Let us remember that God’s desire for us is not condemnation, but rather reconciliation. He longs for us to turn back to Him, seeking His forgiveness and guidance. As we acknowledge our shortcomings and ask for His help, His love and grace engulf us, leading us to a path of righteousness and peace.

In the face of challenges and temptations, let us remain steadfast in our devotion to God. By nurturing our relationship with Him through prayer, studying His Word, and seeking fellowship with other believers, we can find the strength and wisdom needed to overcome any adversity.

Today, let us recommit ourselves to remembering God’s guidance in every aspect of our lives. Let us strive to live in His light, knowing that His love and truth are our eternal refuge.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We come before You today, humbled by Your mercy and grace. We acknowledge any areas in our lives where we may have forgotten Your teachings. Please forgive us and guide us back to the path of righteousness. Help us to remain devoted to You in all that we do. Strengthen our faith, that we may never lose sight of Your presence. In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.

July 22nd 2023 – God’s Faithful Promise of Abundant Blessings

Deuteronomy 7:15 – “The Lord will remove from you all sickness, and he will not inflict on you any of the harmful diseases of Egypt that you have known, but he will inflict them on all who hate you.” –

In this verse, God reveals His compassionate nature and His desire to bless His children abundantly. The Israelites were about to enter the Promised Land, and God, through Moses, was reminding them of His faithfulness. He assured them that He would remove all sickness and protect them from the harmful diseases they had witnessed during their time in Egypt.

This promise holds great significance for us as believers today. Just as God delivered the Israelites from the bondage of slavery, He has delivered us from the power of sin through His Son, Jesus Christ. We have been set free to live a life of abundant blessings, both spiritual and physical.

God’s promise to remove all sickness from His people reveals His heart of compassion and the depth of His love. He longs for us to experience wholeness and well-being, knowing that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). While we may still face physical challenges in this fallen world, we can trust that God is our ultimate healer. He has the power to bring restoration, healing, and complete well-being into our lives.

Moreover, this verse serves as a reminder that God is our protector. He shields us from the harmful afflictions that may seek to harm us. It is important to understand that this does not mean we will never face difficulties or opposition in life. However, we can be assured that God will be with us every step of the way, shielding us from the full impact of the trials we encounter.

As we meditate on this promise, let us also remember that God’s blessings are not solely for our benefit. This verse also highlights that those who hate God’s people will experience the very afflictions that God promises to spare His children. It reveals God’s justice and His unwavering commitment to His people.

In conclusion, let us hold onto the truth embedded in Deuteronomy 7:15. Our loving God desires to bless us abundantly, bringing healing and protection into our lives. He longs to see us flourish in every aspect of our existence, both spiritually and physically. Let us trust in His faithfulness and remain steadfast in our devotion to Him. May we draw closer to God each day, knowing that He is our healer, protector, and the source of all blessings.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with hearts overflowing with gratitude and awe for Your unwavering love and faithfulness. We thank You for the promise You have given us in Deuteronomy 7:15, assuring us of Your divine protection and healing.

Lord, we acknowledge that You are the Great Physician, the One who holds all power and authority over sickness and disease. We humbly ask that You fulfill Your promise to remove all sickness from our lives. We pray for those who are currently battling illnesses, physical ailments, or any form of affliction. May Your healing touch be upon them, bringing restoration and wholeness to their bodies.

Father, we lift up those who may be facing challenges, feeling overwhelmed by physical and emotional pain. Grant them strength and courage to endure, knowing that You are with them every step of the way. Surround them with Your comforting presence and pour out Your divine healing upon them.

Lord, we also pray for protection. Shield us from harmful diseases and afflictions that may seek to harm us. We trust in Your unfailing love and unwavering care. May Your divine hedge of protection surround us, our families, and our loved ones.

Help us to remember that Your blessings are not just for our benefit but also for the transformation of the world around us. As we experience Your healing and protection, empower us to be witnesses of Your love and compassion. Guide us to extend a helping hand to those in need, offering comfort, support, and prayers.

Lord, we surrender our lives into Your hands, trusting in Your perfect plan for us. Strengthen our faith and deepen our relationship with You. Help us to walk in obedience to Your Word, knowing that Your promises are true and unchanging.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers and for being our ever-present help in times of trouble. May Your name be glorified in every aspect of our lives. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

July 21st 2023 – Choosing God Over the World

In our journey of faith, we are constantly faced with choices that can either draw us closer to God or lead us away from Him. The apostle John, in his first letter, reminds us of the importance of choosing God over the world. In 1st John 2:15-17, he highlights three specific areas where we often find ourselves tempted: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

1 John 2:15-17 – “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”

The “lust of the flesh” refers to our desires for physical pleasure and satisfaction that can easily lead us astray. It encompasses anything that appeals to our sinful nature, such as indulging in unhealthy habits, seeking instant gratification, or pursuing selfish desires without considering the consequences. When we prioritize these worldly cravings, we distance ourselves from the love of the Father.

Similarly, the “lust of the eyes” speaks to our longing for material possessions, wealth, and worldly success. Our society bombards us with messages that equate happiness with accumulation and consumption. However, John reminds us that these desires are fleeting and ultimately unfulfilling. True contentment and eternal satisfaction can only be found in our relationship with God.

Lastly, John warns against the “pride of life,” which encompasses the pursuit of personal status, recognition, and power. It is the tendency to exalt ourselves above others and place our own will and desires above God’s. This prideful attitude can lead us down a path of self-centeredness and arrogance, hindering our ability to fully surrender to God’s plan for our lives.

As believers, we are called to be set apart from the world and to live in accordance with God’s will. We should not conform to the patterns and values of this world but rather seek to align ourselves with the teachings of Jesus Christ. By choosing God over the world, we can experience the abundant life that He promises us.

Let us remember that the world and its desires are temporary, passing away like the fading flowers. But whoever does the will of God lives forever. Our Heavenly Father’s love is eternal, unwavering, and surpasses any pleasure, possession, or power this world can offer. When we fix our eyes on Him, we find true joy, purpose, and fulfillment.

So today, let us take a moment to reflect on our own lives and identify areas where we may have been drawn towards the world rather than towards God. Let us ask for His forgiveness and seek His guidance to help us make choices that honor Him. May we be empowered by the Holy Spirit to resist worldly temptations and choose the path that leads us closer to our loving Creator.

Remember, you are never alone in your journey of faith. Lean on God’s wisdom and seek guidance from fellow believers as you navigate the choices before you. May your heart be filled with God’s love and your steps be guided by His truth. God bless you abundantly!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word that guides and instructs us. Help us, dear Lord, to discern the ways of the world and to choose You above all else.
