May 23rd 2017 – Jesus, the Great Physician

“And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.” (Deuteronomy 7:15 )

God is not the author of sickness and disease.  He is the author of health and well-being.  Our Father is looking for ways to bring healing to us, not take it away from us.  When we do a study of the scriptures, we find over and over that our God is a God who heals His children. The Bible states that Jesus and the Father are one, and everywhere that Jesus went as He walked this earth, He never once put sickness on someone.

(Acts 10:38) says that Jesus, “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.”  So we see that sickness is from the devil, and it came at the fall.

When satan came, he brought fear into this world and all of its deadly works, but God sent Jesus to destroy all of them for us.  What a Father we serve!  He is the “Great I Am,” not the “I Want To Be.”  He is at work in us, helping us and guiding us to bring a cure.

If it was up to the devil, he would keep us sick and miserable.  Do you really think that the devil would give us doctors and nurses and people that can help us?  No, I dont think so. Our Father has given us healing through His Word, and He has given great medicines and doctors, all because He loves us and wants us well.

So today, do not accept anything from the devil.  Accept everything that is good and comes from God, your Heavenly Father.  He loves you, and gave His all for you.  Learn His ways, and the light will always expose the darkness of the devil.

“Let Dr. Jesus heal your Soul.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I will praise you in all of the circumstances that I face. I know that You only want the best for us. When sickness and disease from the enemy creeps into our life, You will provide a way for us to be healed. It may be healing of our body or healing of us spiritually. Today I receive healing in my body in Jesus Name.  God never gives sickness, so I can boldly say today that I am healed! In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Trying to face a serious illness without Jesus will get very overwhelming, you may even feel all alone.  If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. May 16th 2017 – Dry and Desolate Places

And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord GOD, You know.” (Ezekiel 37:3)

Where are you spiritually right now? Be honest, are you frustrated? Are you tired? Devastated? Do you feel like your world is caving in and you just can’t handle it? Are you dry… weary from crying? Do you feel spiritually dead?

(Lamentations 3:21-24) “This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I hope in Him!”

To a stale and hopless soul, hope sounds impossible... I know it does. I personally have been there, I searched for hope in dry and desolate places before. I remember what it’s like.

In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

What you surround yourself with is a good indication of where you seek. Take a minute to look at what surrounds you. Is it television, music, gadgets, computers… or maybe drugs and alcohol? There is no hope in these things. Real Hope is only in Jesus. God’s promise lasts forever. You can live – I mean really live, but it’s in Jesus and not in the world.

“You can live for real, Jesus is the answer!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the hope You give to me in Jesus. Lord, help me to stay determined and not lose hope even when I find myself in a valley of dry bones. When all else is gone, I come to You. Remind me to feed upon Your Word and that You will rescue me when I call out to You. I give you all praise and glory for the promises You set before me. In Jesus’ name, Amen

May 15th 2017 – Lost in the Wilderness

“Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.” (Hosea 6:1)

Have you ever been lost? Maybe it was during camping trip where you went on a hike with friends, or you went for a drive and became lost in different city. With any scenario, being lost causes us to become fearful. Yet, imagine if you were lost but you didn’t care. After hours of hiking around and without notice, you find that you are surrounded by an unknown wilderness with no provisions. To most people, we would see that as foolishness, and yet there are many people all over the world who are lost but do not realize it.

In Hosea 6, God gives us a glimpse of the people of Israel after they realize that they have wandered away from God. In their statement they say, “Let us return.” These three words indicate that they have realized the reality of their situation that they were lost and needed to return home. This is always the first step in our relationship with God. We must first realize we are lost and in need of a Savior. When we are honest with God, admit our sin and trust in Jesus’ payment for our sin, we go from lost to found. Once we are born again, we are no longer wondering aimlessly in the darkness, but we are guided by the very hand of God if we choose to listen to Him.

While we may enjoy an adventure in the wilderness, there is nothing like the rest, peace and joy we find at home. Come home. God is waiting.

“Repentance starts when we realize how lost we really are.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I believe You died for me so that I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so that I can have new life. I’ve done wrong things and I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Give me Your power to follow You. Give me the power to turn from sin and change my ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May 12th 2017 – Battlefield of the Mind

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

The battle we face as Christians is very real, and it is often extremely difficult. We see in the Scripture that spiritual battles is most often fought in our own minds. In the verses above, notice the words used to describe the battle. He uses words like “argument”, “knowledge”, “thought” and “imaginations”. This is why studying the Bible is so important. The more we know God’s Word, the more we are equipped to respond correctly. We can often see this really well in those moments we are corrected.

The moment we are corrected over something our mind instantly leaps to our defense. Rather than honestly considering the circumstance being presented, we usually respond by either explaining why it’s not our fault, making an excuse for why it’s OK, or we simply point out what is wrong with the person correcting us. This is the same tactic Adam and Eve used in the garden, and is something we need to guard our minds against. Instead of responding in the flesh, we can take a moment, pray and respond rightly.

Law Enforcement and Military personell take time to train for various situations they may encounter in the field. So schedule time to get in Gods word so that you can bettter prepare how to handle spiritual battles take place in our minds.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me Your Word so that I am better able to know how to live. Fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I can respond in love at all times. Guard my mind against the powers of the enemy, and help me to think on godly things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May 11th 2017 – Antichrist = In place of Christ

“Then I wanted to know the true meaning of the fourth beast, the one so different from the others and so terrifying. It had devoured and crushed its victims with iron teeth and bronze claws, trampling their remains beneath its feet.” (Daniel 7:19)

Man has had this fascination about who the antichrist will be from the time that Jesus ascended into heaven. Christians have speculated over many political leaders from Roman emperors to popes and even presidents. There’s no doubt he’ll be a smooth talker and will blasphemy against God every chance he can. He will be able to sway political leaders to follow him to the point he’ll change the times and seasons. (Daniel 7:25) He’ll also require everyone to receive a mark on their hand or forehead to be able to buy, sell, or trade. (Revelation 13:18)

This is interesting in light of a few other scriptures John gives us concerning the antichrist.

(1 John 2:18) “Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come.”

(1 John 4:1-4) “Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.”

The question we have to ask now is not so much who is the big Antichrist, but we need to be asking who or what are the little antichrists we allow into our lives? Antichrist means in place of Christ. How do we know if we have put something in the place of Christ in our life? We can ask ourselves some simple questions to see what we claim to follow. If we inherited a large sum of money would we still love and serve the Lord wholeheartedly? When we are tempted, confused or in a trial or hardship what or who do we go to?

Who or what we do we claim is our god. The enemy would love to wear us down so that he pushes us away from putting Christ first in everything. He does this without restraint in the end when the church is removed. Even now, when we remove the habit of church from our lives, we give the enemy an edge against us. When the Lord doesn’t have priority in our time, talent, and treasures we endanger our own lives into being subject to his attacks. This is why it is mission critical for us to recognize that the enemy’s tactics don’t change, even when the antichrist comes into one man in the end.

“Who or what do you claim is your god.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please forgive me when I default to anything in my life other than You. Please give me Your power to allow You to be the priority in all areas of my life. Give me special strength when the enemy seems to be wearing me down to partake of Your precious promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May 8th 2017 – A Dash of Deceit?

Then Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?” And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife. (Genesis 20:10-11)

There is a moment when the pressure is on and self-preservation becomes our instinct. Abraham is in that moment and has made up his mind to lie. One of the things Proverbs 6 makes clear is that God hates lying and a false witness. That moment comes to all of us. It’s not an if but a when. When you have slipped up on the job or in your relationship with your spouse, friend,  or kids do you resort to weighing out implications and hunt for a way out of the situation by tossing out a little deception or deceit? How about when you’re getting ready to do your taxes or get out of an unwanted commitment for lunch? Does the pretense of those moments persuade you to want to soften the situation with a seductive little lie?

(Romans 7:14) “So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin”

(Romans 7:24-25) “Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Abraham is getting rebuked by Abimelech for lying and then we see that Abimelech turns and rebukes Sarah as well (Genesis 20:16). You see, there is no good thing in us. Just like Abraham, we are called into walking in our faith, yet, we fumble with our circumstances and sin sometimes. But God is willing to correct us and strengthen us when fail as long as we are willing to receive the corrections. We also get to experience the reconciliation in Christ. He deepens us just like He deepened Abraham and Sarah who in turn responded to the Lord. If you have been found in a situation stepping into sin, be quick to return to Christ be replenished and refreshed by His Spirit that extends His freedom and joy to you even now.

“We have the option to live a transformed life in Christ or a self-preserving life in ourselves. Owning up to, and confessing our sins, allows us to live in the freedom of joy.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please forgive me when I want to manipulate circumstances or run from things and not deal with the issues You are revealing in my heart. Please forgive me of any pretense or sin that causes me to be self-preserving instead of trusting You in all things. Please give me Your power to walk after You with a pure heart in all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen

May 3rd 2017 – From Broken to Beautiful

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.  In those days when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”(Jeremiah 29:11–13) – my life verse

Have you ever dropped a glass and watched it break and scatter across the floor? There was nothing you could do but sweep it up and throw it away. You might remind yourself not to go barefoot any time soon since splinters of glass sometimes linger.

Can you relate this scenario to a crushed and broken heart? It may have felt like it shattered into a million pieces. You probably felt it would never mend. The hurt was just too deep; too painful.

“Time heals all wounds,” but at the moment of the brokeness and pain, it is impossible to believe. You look for brighter days, but your view is through a soul that sees only gray. You are numb.

Painful events generate broken hearts: the death of a loved one, children gone astray, a relationship gone wrong or  perhaps loved ones turned against you with no reguard for your heart. In any event, you do not feel like you can go another moment, let alone another day. You may ask yourself, “Am I depressed, oppressed, or just one big mess?”

I have had my life, my dreams and my heart broken and crushed quite a few times… when I was in my early twenties, I lost my childhood sweetheart, one of my best friends and my father within a few months of my life. Their loss was very painful, the brokeness and loneliness I was experiencing was more then I could deal with. Within a year I met someone and got married. I built a new life, dreams and a family. I was blessed with starting a very successful business that I operated for many years. After 15 years of a awesome marriage, with no warning, My wife emptied our bank accounts and abandoned not only myself but our children. With all of my dreams broken and the emense pain of loss and betrayal, I experienced a time of feeling suicidal. I had to be strong for my children, however the stress and pain eventually caused me to have another lifechanging event, a stroke that almost took my life. Throughout the process I discovered how codependent I was. I was trying to deal with the pain on my own and instead, generated more distress bitterness and anger.

Five long years I struggled. Knowing that I couldn’t handle any of this pain any longer, dealing with continued thoughts of ending my life. I attended a faith based 12 Step goup. Shortly after, gave my life Jesus, and asked for His help to put my life back together. I had allowed God to place me up on the Potter’s wheel and said, “Lord you have to fix me. I can’t do it myself.”

Only God can mend your brokenness. He is the Potter and His specialty is molding us and shaping us. We need to remain on the Potter’s wheel to be restored, but often we run to others. It is wonderful to get support from a godly friend or prayer with your Pastor, but this should be in addition to, not a substitute for time alone with the Lord.

Don’t delay! if you find yourself shattered, Only Jesus can truly mend your broken heart, broken body or broken life into someting beautiful.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise you for taking a shattered and scattered life and like a broken glass, when someone would normally throw it away. You Lord fashioned me back together. I love you Lord. Thank you for the sweet wife that you brought into my life 6 years ago, Thank you for bringing my children to know you and thank you for my friends.. As your word says, You indeed carried me through devastation and restored my life… even thought life continues to be hard at times. I am greatful that You are here for me every step of the way. Accepting You as my Lord and Savior was the greatest decision I ever made. Thank You for Your endless pursuit of me. I love You Lord. In Your precious name, Amen.

April 29th 2017 – Mountains – My God is Bigger

“As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:36-37 )

I have had the opportunity to speak with and pray for those who are in the midst of monumental life changing challenges. It might be unemployment, eviction, addiction, separation, divorce or even death. Whatever it is, for those going through it, it seems to be a Mount Everest of a challenge. One thing I’ve noticed is that those who dare to take on mountains often triumph while those who survey the towering heights and presume defeat… buckle. Colossal cliffs teach the deepest lessons – the kind you never forget.

(Genesis 22:8) “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

From the stable to sacrifice, Jesus knew His mountain. Awaiting Him at the top were false accusation, humiliation, torture, pain, suffering and death on a cross. For us, our Savior set His jaw and pressed forward. Jesus made the greatest climb to Calvary.

Willingly, Jesus took that hill. He knew what was waiting, and He went. It was His joy to do so. He did it to purchase you and change your destiny. Because Jesus made His ascent, we can climb our mountains with victory in hand. The next time you see a mountain looming in the distance, remember, you’re a conqueror. With Jesus, you will take that hill.

” Dear Problem, My God Is Bigger! – Don’t climb your mountains without Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and praise you Lord in all circumstances. Thank You for loving me first. It is through You that I do not have to fear the difficulties of this world and that I have everything I need for the challenges of life. Please forgive me for times when I’ve stalled in the face of trials instead of relying on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

April 27th 2017 – Stone by Stone

“Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. They built as far as the Tower of the Hundred, and consecrated it, then as far as the Tower of Hananel” (Nehemiah 3:1)

In the book of Nehemiah, we see the people of Israel joining together to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem. Stone by stone, each wall and gate was constructed to keep the people or things that would cause them harm out, and the good in. The same should be true in our own life, because once you see something or hear something, it is impossible to take it out. If you are a parent, you are responsible for guarding your kid’s gates . As they get older, help them make good decisions and discourage bad ones.

When it comes to the safety of Nations in modern times. It’s still, as it was throught history, all about who has the greatest technology and most mighty weapons.

Don’t look for the newest greatest things for warfare, they may be great with technology but not with Gods wisdom. God has given us great wisdom so that we can go to the ancient things for modern problems. Remember that the battlefield often starts in our minds.

(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”

The key to guarding our hearts and minds is to fill our hearts and minds with the things of God. Reading God’s Word and meditating on the Truths of Scripture will help protect us from evil. Time in prayer for our lives and the lives of our family will direct our paths. Also, we must be actively engaged by saying no to certain music, television, movies, games or books that could draw our hearts away from Christ. It’s not about legalism; it’s about building the walls of protection and guarding the gates for God’s glory.

“As people created in the image of God, we can and should control what we read, listen to, think and say.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the guidance You give in Your Word. Just like my spiritual armor, provide me the stones of wisdom and power to build the walls and guard the gates of my heart and mind. Fill me with Your Spirit. Help me teach others about your goodness and turn them away from evil. May they turm from hate and destruction to experiencing forgiveness and Love. In Jesus’ name Amen.

April 23rd 2017 – Bold as a Lion

“Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty. The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.” (Daniel 6:21-23)

Daniel had been consistent for 70 years of his life praying faithfully unto the Lord three times a day facing toward Jerusalem. Daniel was also performing with profound excellence his work for King Darius. The government officials (Daniel’s coworkers) were filled with envy toward Daniel because of his success. They tricked King Darius into passing a law to pray to no one but the king, which ultimately led Daniel to be thrown into the lion’s den.

Daniel obeyed God’s word and is now being persecuted for doing so. Have you ever wholeheartedly stepped out to obey the Lord and found yourself being ridiculed? Let me encouage you not to be discouraged. You see, there is a greater lion than the ones we may face in our lion’s den of persecution-the Lion from the tribe of Judah, Jesus. The enemy prowls like a lion seeking to discourage and destroy us, but the Lord has disarmed him at the cross.

(Colossians 2:14-15) “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

The enemy’s mouth has been shut and rendered powerless over us through Christ. Not only that, but when we absorb Christ in our hearts and lives we can be encouraged and infused with that same power of forgiveness and the resurrection spirit of Christ in us. By the Lord imparting to us His righteousness we can be made as bold as a lion. We no longer need to fret, be fearful, or let our hearts be troubled for Christ has overcome the world for us and will see us through times of persecution as well.

“The Enemy prowls like a lion. – Never forget that Jesus is the real lion and Jesus gives us the boldness like a lion.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your power to overcome the enemy in every aspect of my life. Please forgive me when I allow myself to be persuaded by the difficulty of my circumstances. Fill me with that same powerful Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead to make me bold as a lion. In Jesus’ name, Amen
