June 22nd 2018 – Wars and Rumors of Wars

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14)

Recently we have been wittnessing a deranged madman threating the United States and our allies with his attomic bombs.  The United Nations has been trying to reason with Kim Jong-Un without success for years.

North Korea even told the U.S. that he has declared war on the US and plans to attack us with bombs and biological warfare.

Now all of a sudden he is now appearing to cooperate with the world. Please don’t let this fool you. Unless he has had a life changing experience with the one True God, (which he has never publically announced) be on guard!

This is the type of man not reasonable. A couple of years back he had his own uncle and defense minister publicly executed with an anti-aircraft gun for falling asleep during a military meeting.

The reality is, this kind of behavior is just not normal from the head of a countries leader. We realize more and more that we cannot put hope in man’s ability to not make war.

We are witnessing a time where we are seeing everyday people walking around like zombies, drugged out of their minds. Blatant Sin is more evident than any other time I have seen. Earthquakes one after another, huricanes with such unbelievable power, wars and rumors of war.

When we read the Bible it helps us to take the blinders off to the things happening in the world. It helps us to understand that we are in the last days. Understanding the Bible will also bring us hope!

“The Bible gives us hope and knowledge. If we have no Bible, we have no knowledge, we have no hope. If we have no hope, life becomes a daunting task.”

When we study the Bible, God reveals all kinds of information to us. God removes our ignorance through revealing the Bible to us. With receiving the Bible, we receive knowledge, we receive hope and we receive forgiveness.

We do not have to be without hope, we can know Him who gives hope. We do not have to be without knowledge, we can know Him who gives knowledge. We do not have to be without forgiveness we can know Him, who gives forgiveness. Jesus.

Do you want to know Jesus? Are these things missing from your life? Rededicate your life to the Lord right now.

Pray something like this from your heart…

Dear Jesus,
I believe You died for me so I could be forgiven. I believe You were raised from the dead so I could have a new life. I have done wrong things, and I am sorry. Please forgive me for all those things. Please give me Your Spirit and Your power to live for You the rest of my life. Amen.

June 1st 2018 – Awake and Arise!

for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,“Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.”(Ephesians 5:14-16)

I’m not sure if you have ever really thought about this very much, but if take a moment and look down, which way do your feet point? What about your eyes and nose, Which way do they point? Hopefully, most of you would say ‘forward.’ Could it be that God is telling us something? Try standing up and taking two steps forward. Now, without looking take three steps backward. Does it seem weird or uneasy when you step backwards? Of course it does! The reason is because God has uniquely designed and called you to move forward in Christ. This is the medicine that Paul prescribes and exhorts us to as followers of Christ.

(Philippians 3:13-14)
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

The first part of this verse can easily read in the Greek ‘Brothers and Sisters, I do not count myself to have apprehended but one thing.’ Wow! God says it all to us right here doesn’t He? The unforgiveness, the dark past, that area you have messed up in last year, last month, last week or in the last five minutes can be repented of. We can begin moving forward toward Christ again.

When does your Battleground Road turn into a Road of Victory? As soon as your focus changes. Don’t focus on unforgiveness, pain, the past, or what you don’t have. Focus on your blessings from the Lord and all that He is and begin moving forward into what He has in store for your life.

(Philippians 4:8)
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

“Focus on good things, the heavenly things and the eternal things.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Please forgive me when I have taken my focus off of moving forward toward You. Please forgive me when I fail at this and help me to trust in Your forgiveness for my past and focus on all the good You have given to me and the eternal and heavenly things that You desire for me. Give me Your grace to move forward in trusting in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

May 13th 2018 – Identity Revealed

“But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.
For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.” (Job 23:10-11)

When you go through a hardship, it will either make you bitter or better. I have discovered that it is usually one or the other. And guess who dget to make that decision? You do! You are the one who gets to choose whether you will be will become bitter when things get tough by turning against the Lord. Or you will get better by trusting in the Lord.

Sometimes people who have experienced a tragedy in their lives will say, “I’ve lost my faith through this.” Proclaiming that reveals that their faith wasn’t real to begin with. If you are a real believer, your faith will not go away when hardship hits. It will get stronger. The faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted. Tragedy reveals who the real believers are.

Suffering helps us grow spiritually and makes us stronger in the faith. It takes our faith from the realm of theory to reality.

Often, it’s easy to talk about our faith. But it’s another thing to live by it. A lot of believers will boast about the number of years they have known the Lord and how many verses they memorized. That is all good. But when your faith is tested, we will find out what you are really made of.

“Suffering does not create character; it reveals it!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You are the Rock that I can stand on and an ever present help in times of need. Lord, in those times I feel lost and alone in times of hardship or tragedy, remind me of Your faithfulness and love. May Your Spirit lead me to draw close to You and trust in Your Word over my feelings. Thank You for Your strength and comfort during tough times. Please help me to praise You even in the difficult situations.  Starting now, I choose to express great joy because You love me! Please help me to be an encourager today to the others who are are going through a test. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Is Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life? Did you once follow Him but your faith was weak and turned your back on Him in a time of hardship?

Pray this prayer and start a new life, or recommit yourself to to Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.

May 9th 2018 – Truth Set Free

“For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them. “But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.” (Matthew 13:15-16)

“The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 2:14)

In a time where there is so much division in society, lies and twisted truthes are so prevalent. Its all designed to harden our hearts and keep us blind to the truth.

That is why the word of God is so very important to us. I encourage you to read your Bible every day, if you dont have one get one. Start by asking God to reveal Himself to you as the light of His word shines on your heart. The whole Bible speaks to us of Jesus – the Old and New Testament. To understand God’s plan of redemption, we consider all things in the Old Testament in the light of Jesus and the New Testament writers. The Old Testament points forward in time, preparing the way for the work of Christ which is described in the New Testament. Together they give us the greatest understanding of God’s amazing plan and the enduring truth of His word. I really like the following statement made by Saint Augustine around 400 AD.

“The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.” It highlights the remarkable way the two testaments of the Bible are so closely interrelated with each other.

“The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.” (Psalm 119:160)

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
(Jeremiah 29:13)

God says in His word that when we seek Him we will find Him when we search for Him with all of our heart. Do you need more of God’s light and love and strength and joy in your life? Dig into your Bible and seek Him with your whole heart. He will show you things you’ve never seen before and enlighten and renew your mind.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for Your word and the wonderful way You reveal Yourself to me in it. I want to know You more and love You more. Please help me commit my heart to seek You and grow in my understanding of who You are and how much You love me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May 5th 2018 – Bad Weather

“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

People think that when you are in the will of God, you will always have “smooth sailing.” That is certainly not true of Paul. He seemed to face every kind of adversity imaginable. He had enemies who tried to undermine and even destroy him out of jealousy.

The Apostle Paul delt with storms

Toward the end of the Book of Acts, Paul was making his final journey to Rome because he had appealed to Caesar. As they journeyed, a horrific storm overtook them and everyone despaired for their lives.

Luke describes it this way: “When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved” (Acts 27:20)

The Lord came to Paul

But the Lord sent His angel to speak to Paul, giving the apostle the ability to encourage the others on board:

But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down. For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.” (Acts 27:22-25)

Will there ever be smooth sailing?

That is not to say we will not have beautiful moments, and even seasons of relative calmness. Not all the winds that blow in life are devastating. In one instance, the log of the journey before the big storm hit says, “The south wind blew softly” (Acts 27:13)

Thank God for those times when the “South wind blows softly.” Those times when you can feel the warmth of the sun on your shoulders and all is well.

God never abandons us

The Apostle Paul had numerable setbacks in life that included beatings and physical harm. He also had a personal physical disability he prayed to be healed of that never left.

Still, he was able to say, “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

That is one of the reasons the storms and trials come. To make us stronger spiritually. Because in a storm, a trial, or a hardship, you will learn things you could really learn nowhere else.

The Fact is, storms will come in life. It’s not a matter of if but when. Were either pulling out of one or eventually headed toward another.

“Better to be in a storm with Jesus then anywhere else without Him.”

“Fruit does not grow on mountaintops, but in valleys.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,  It gets so hard trying to face the storms of life on our own especially when we feel weak. I need Your power and strength to face each one. Please continue to help and teach me to turn to You first. Help me learn to patiently endure the suffering and the hard times and honor You in the midst of them. I lift up all of my troubles and faithfully trust in You Lord that you will guide me. Please send others to help me through these tough times. I ask for Your peace to comfort me. I ask, Father, for Your power to strengthen me. When I want to run because I am afraid or hurt, I ask that You help me to stand. I know that You will guide me to grow through these things. Lord, I know You will be there to help me through every storm of life and even in the final storm of death, I wi praise You for Your peace and for Your promise of heaven. Help me to keep my mind focused on eternity so that I will not lose hope here on earth. Fill me with Your Spirit and use my life to share God’s peace with the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Trying to face a storm without Jesus will get very overwhelming, you may even feel all alone.  He is waiting for you, ask for His help. If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. Jesus loves us and wants to help us through the storms. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus

April 16th 2018 – Would You Like To Get Well

When Jesus saw him and knew how long he had been ill, He asked him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:6)

What an awesome question! The Lord Jesus has such a way with words! No dancing around the issue. He cuts right to the heart of the matter. Would you like to get well? Would you? That is His question to you today. That is His question to your neighbors and to your friends and family who do not know Him. That is His question to those who ridicule Him in the media and the press. That is His question to those who speak out against Him and even persecute those who believe in Him. That is His question to all of humanity.

He is not just talking about physical wellness here. Jesus is talking about our very soul being cleansed, our guilt being purged and our sins forgiven. He is talking about wellness of the mind, soul and the spirit in addition to wellness of Your body. There is nothing wrong with you that He cannot fix. His death on the cross offers all of these benefits. The amazing thing is that no matter what you’ve done, how you’ve done it or who you’ve been… the offer stands as firm today as it stood yesterday and the day before. The question… Would you like to get well? What’s your response?

If you have not accepted Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, or have been out of fellowship with Him, please pray this simple prayer below with me.

Dear Lord Jesus, I believe in You. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again in three days defeating death. I have sinned. I am a sinner. Please forgive me for my sins. Please give me the power to live for You all the days of my life. Thank You for forgiving me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“There is nothing wrong with us that Jesus cannot fix.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins, an internal and external cleansing of all my failures, mistakes and broken promises. Thank you for all of Your promises, and that you never break them. Thank You for Your healing of my life; all of it. I give it to You. Use my life for Your glory. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

April 11th 2018 – We Must Count the Cost

“But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?” (Luke 14:28)

It isn’t easy to be a Christian, especially a committed and growing Christian. It costs to follow Jesus. But it costs a lot more not to.

Jesus said to His disciples, “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.“(John 15:18-19)

This is hard to accept if you have been a likeable person throughout your life and then become a Christian. You try to be loving and compassionate and helpful, and then people find out that you’re a Christian. So they give you a difficult time or make fun of you or spread lies about you. You think, This isn’t right I am not like that, I do care about them. But the fact is that now you are a representative of Jesus. And effectively you will be treated as He was treated. The Bible says, “Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).

You don’t want to decide to follow Jesus like making an impulse purchase at the store.

When you decide to follow Christ, you need to count the cost. Jesus counted the cost when He went to the cross for you. He gave His life so you can be forgiven of your sin, so you can know that you will go to Heaven when you die.

He counted the cost for you. Will you count the cost and follow Him?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the amazing love You have shown me. Thank you for the people that you have brought into my life that also exhibit the love of Christ. Help me count the cost and grasp onto the great truth of your love. I want to be able to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen

April 2nd 2018 – The Complete Truth

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.”  (Acts 20:26-27)

It sometimes can be difficult to tell the complete truth. I think of doctors who run a series of tests and find an abnormality, maybe a spot, a lump or something else. They want to tell their patients that everything is okay. But they have to tell the truth so they can prescribe a course of treatment.

In the Old Testament book of Daniel, we read of a time when Daniel had to reveal the hard truth to King Nebuchadnezzar. He said, “King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper” (Daniel 4:27). In other words, “Judgment is coming, but there is still hope if you will repent.”

In the same way, as Christians we have to declare the whole counsel of God. The apostle Paul told the elders of the Ephesian church, “I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know” (Acts 20:26–27). Yet sometimes we edit out things we are uncomfortable with, like God’s coming judgment and Hell.

Yesterday Churches around the world spoke about the resurrection of Jesus Christ,  many of their messages said something like, “Believe in Jesus, and He will make you a happier person and bring you fulfillment.” “Choose Jesus and you will discover joy and contentment in your life.” But was the whole truth shared? How many Easter messages actually shared “What happens if you don’t choose to believe in Jesus?”

The church and the church body needs to share the complete truth. Not with smiles on our faces; we say it with tears in our eyes. It isn’t easy to tell someone, “The Bible says there is a judgment, and if we don’t believe in Jesus Christ, there actually is a place called Hell.”

“We must tell the complete truth!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life.. Purify my heart with Your complete truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. Help me Lord to share the truth with out of love, may it never  be perceived as arrogance. Open their ears to your message of salvation. I love You Lord and may I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 16th 2018 – Incredible Thirst

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Picture, if you will, a line of people. These people are from different backgrounds and families. Only one thing unites them and that is the fact that all are incredibly thirsty. Each of them longs for a cup of cold water. Now, imagine the first in this great line being given a case of ice cold water. With great anticipation they grab a bottle and begin to quench their overpowering thirst. The dryness and pain that came with the thirst is quickly forgotten as they embrace the refreshing liquid. After enjoying the comforts of the water, the person is then refreshed and ready to pass on this wonderful gift. With great joy, they proceed to hand a bottle of water to the next thirsty soul – and the refreshment continues.

This may seem like an odd story, but it sheds light on our place in sharing God’s comfort. All of us have endured suffering. Like these people, we ache for refreshment from the pains of life. After a time of wondering when it will end, God pours out His refreshing comfort on our life and we become encouraged. The danger is to stop at this point and miss the secondary blessing. Rather than selfishly holding on to God’s comfort, we should share it with those who are still thirsting for relief. As God comforts us in our suffering we are put in the perfect place to comfort others – and the refreshment continues.

“God is the source of all blessings, comfort and mercy. When we are a source of blessings or comfort or mercy, we are becoming more and more like Christ.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the amazing comfort that I find in You. Because of Your love, I have peace with God and forgiveness for all my sins. Because of Jesus, I am free from the penalty of sin and no matter what happens on this earth, I will be healed and loved for all eternity. Father, help me to remember these things and to pass them on to those who are thirsting for Your refreshing comfort. In Jesus name, Amen.

Seeking Comfort from Jesus?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your lifeYou can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

February 15th 2018 – Forgiven in Christ

“Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God” (Romans 15:15)

Satan loves to remind us of our past sins and failures. He finds great pleasure in bringing up things that God has long forgiven us of.

(Revelation 12:10) refers to Satan as the “accuser of our brethren.” That’s what he does, but not because he’s really got anything on us. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Bible tells us that your sins have been separated from you as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). So, what does it profit the enemy to bring up what you’ve been forgiven of? He wants to distract you from following Jesus. If he can get you to listen to his accusations, maybe he can shame you into believing that you’ve crossed some line of forgiveness that doesn’t exist. That is his game and he is betting that he can pull you into it. Remember the words in 1st John

(1 John 1:9) “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Has Satan distracted you from following Jesus? Don’t believe his lies, and friend, in love, you need to quit listening to your enemy. You have got a great future ahead of you. Satan, on the other hand… well… his future is not so good because he will be thrown into the lake of fire. He will be destroyed. He knows it. So, the next time the enemy tries to remind you of your past, remind him of his future.

“We often forget what we should remember and remember what we should forget.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sending Your only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for my sins. Thank You for the promise that one day, You will wipe the tears from my eyes and there will be no more death, sorrow or crying. Thank You that I can have peace through Jesus, no matter what trial or difficulties I am experiencing. Please forgive me for the times when I have surrendered my peace to a situation or problem and help me to live for You every day. I rejoice in knowing the future that lies ahead of me is so much better than the past that is behind me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
