September 9th 2018 – The Good Gardener

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. “Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. (John 15:1-2)

What an amazing and loving Heavenly Father we have.  He is always at work within us to help us grow up.  Many people look at verse two and see the words “takes away” and think that God gets rid of those who do not bear fruit.  That is not what it is saying.  This verse means that God lifts up those who are having problems bearing fruit and works with them.

A wise farmer doesn’t destroy his branches, he lifts them up, cleans them, and reties them to the vine.  Our loving Father does the same thing.  He is out for our best and will keep working with us to produce much fruit.

Remember, good trees naturally bring forth good fruit. We are good trees planted in the house of the Lord. If you love God and you have accepted His free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ then God’s love is poured out on you. God is working on the inside to help you produce a great harvest that will last you throughout all eternity.

It’s important to know that it’s not what you do, but it’s letting Him do the work within you.  Too many times, we say, “I need to do this or I need to do that” before God will work in my life; it’s just being legalistic. God wants to do the good work within you and as He does and good things develop within your heart, you will see that these fruits of the Spirit will become obvious to others.

If you let God do this pruning within you, you will see that the fruits of love, joy, and peace will start growing, and you’ll look back and say, “Is this really me?” Remember, the fruits of the Spirit are not works of law but gifts of grace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for always being “The Good Farmer”, Its Your pruning that produces good fruit in my life. I welcome the planting of the seeds through Your Word to grow and live in me. As I do, You will clean my heart so that the fruits of the spirit can operate big time within me.  I praise You for all that you do in my life. In Jesus’ precious name,  Amen.

September 6th 2018 – Real Love

“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:3)

Love is a word that possesses incredible power. When a couple first speaks the word, it changes the dynamic of their relationship forever. On the other hand, when someone you love and care for tells you they no longer love you, it could impact your life for years. When someone you love dies, your heart grieves and love is what causes the pain and hurt you experience. We also can actually become emotionally and physically ill when we have our hearts broken from the loss of love.

Unfortunately, this word has many times been misunderstood. Our world sees love as a amped up version of lust but that’s not what God created love to be, and it’s not the example He has shown us.

(1 John 4:7) “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”

Love is not morality or religion. It’s not something else to put on your to-do list. Rather, love is our motivation and it is seen perfectly in our Lord. In short, love is Jesus. In every second of His life on earth, Jesus was love and demonstrated that love. From his healing of the sick and feeding the hungry, to His correction of the Pharisees, Jesus’ end goal was love. You could do all the good deeds in the world, but without love they would be empty meaning nothing. Jesus loved others because He loved the Father. The same is true with us. As we love our Heavenly Father, we will be able to love others; even those who we feel may not be that lovable.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Because of Your love for me, I have forgiveness of sins and hope of heaven. Father, fill me with Your Spirit and help me to love others like You love me. Make me more like Jesus so that I can share Your grace and mercy with those around me. Use me today to show love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you want to know this love – true love — get to know God. He is ready to pour out His love on you, and He wants to teach you how to love others as He loves you.

Want to experience the essence of Real Love?

We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment.God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that Hedied for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, wasburied, and rose from the deadaccording to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, “Jesus is Lord,” you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, today I am deciding to follow Jesus

Yes, I am already a follower of Jesus

I still have questions

August 30th 2018 – Divine Appointments

“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” (James 4:17)

The will of God is not always that obvious to us, sometimes it can even be difficult for us to discern. It’s not like the Mission Impossible theme starts playing in the background while I listen to a message that says, “Good morning, Mr. Lavallee. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go to this specific place and meet a particular person and share Jesus Christ and pray with them. This message will self-destruct in ten seconds.”

That has never happened to me. Here’s how it might happen instead. I get into my car and remember that I need a washer for a leaking faucet, so I decide to drive to the hardware store. As I’m standing there at the checkout lane, I start chitchatting with a guy who is buying a rope. One thing leads to another, and the next thing you know, this guy has accepted the Lord. He then makes the decision he no longer needs the rope.

I had the choice whether to talk to that guy. Maybe he looked distressed. I had the choice to smile and say hi or  blow him off, to keep the conversation short, or to extend it. And ultimately, I had the choice as to whether I would share Christ with him.

Many times we aren’t thinking about or looking for opportunities like these. Yet it can actually be a sin not to share the gospel with others. James 4:17 tells us, “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

God uses us when we are out and about doing normal things and taking steps of faith. That is how the Christian life works. We read the Word of God. We take the principles of the Word of God and put them into practice. We pray that the Lord will guide our steps. And then we go.

“God uses us when we are out and about doing normal things and taking steps of faith.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Love. Thank you for  divine appointments. Lord, forgive me for the times I have placed my focus on the ‘things’ in my life rather than You and your direction. Give me the discernment and wisdom to see the deception in the things of this world and keep my eyes fixed upon You and Your calling for my life. I surrender everything to You. In Jesus name, Amen

August 21st 2018 – Friend or Foe

“And Joab answered, “May the Lord make His people a hundred times more than they are. But, my Lord the king, are they not all my Lord’s servants? Why then does my Lord require this thing? Why should he be a cause of guilt in Israel?” (1 Chronicles 21:3)

We have a real enemy. Satan is not the little ambivalent cartoon character he has tricked people into thinking he is. The truth is, He wants to take you out. “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

He will do whatever he can to derail you in loving and following God. Your adversary, Satan, operates in the darkness of selfishness and pride, and he will try to get you to do the same. When you walk in generosity, kindness or blessing others, you walk in the Spirit.

For reasons we don’t know, David wanted to number the people of Israel. Surely counting people is not the sin, but the motive of David’s census was. We see Joab, David’s friend, warning David against his decision. Had David heeded to his friend’s warnings, many lives would have been spared.

(Proverbs 27:6) “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, But the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”

Are you willing to speak into the life of a friend? Are you willing even when it’s uncomfortable or difficult? Do you love your friends? People who always speak easy-pleasy things to you may not have your best interest in mind. Are you willing to hurt a friendship to prevent a friend from falling into Satan’s trap? Are you willing to allow a friend likewise to speak hard things to you?

“Our real friends will warn us when they think we are falling into the enemy’s traps”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your grace and mercy. Lord, I recognize that I am in a real battle and I have messed up. I have opened the door to the plagues in my life and hurt others and myself. Help me to put away all selfishness and pride. Lord, I do not want to live my life blaming others or making excuses for decisions I have made. Lord, forgive me. Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for speaking to me and giving me victory through the blood of Your Son, Jesus. I am so grateful that my sin does not have to count me out. Strengthen me with determination to fight in the battle for the souls of others around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 19th 2018 – Our Fathers Ultimate Love for Us

“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” (Jeremiah 31:3)

We may think sometimes that we must do certain things to merit the love of God. But what we need to remember is that the love of God is consistent, and it is persistent. God says, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you”

However many people find it difficult to think of God as a loving Father. They see Him through eyes clouded with the pain of past life experiences with an ungodly father or stepfather.

Thousands of Christians do not believe God loves them because their earthly father abandoned, wounded, or grieved them so badly. I pray that this message will speak not only to them but also to those of you who have not yet discovered the depths of our heavenly Father’s love!

Many of us know the Scriptures and the theology behind God’s great love for His children. Yet very few of us have learned to appropriate that love and we are not enjoying the benefits of having it.

Listen to how God described Himself to Moses:

“The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin . . .” (Exodus 34:6-7).

When we are in the midst of our trials, we forget what God has said about His own nature. Yet, if we would only believe Him in such times, we would have great assurance in our souls. From cover to cover, the Bible speaks to us as God’s voice, revealing to us how tender and loving He is.

He is ready to forgive at all times. “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalm 86:5).

He is patient with us, full of tenderness and mercy. “Great are Your tender mercies, O Lord” (Psalm 119:156). “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy” (Psalm 145:8).

Have assurance in the following:

1. Your heavenly Father will never abandon you. Nothing is more traumatic to a child than a family breakup. Children often blame themselves for divorce—and they experience acute feelings of insecurity. They can also develop the wrong idea that if their father or mother was willing to walk away from them, God will do the same.

The Truth Is: God says, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5) Earthly parents may break promises, but God is always faithful.

2. Your heavenly Father will never verbally berate you. I knew of a boy whose father didn’t want any children. As a result of the fathers disapproval, he criticized the boy constantly, told him he was always in the way, never would amount to anything. He often demanded that he stay in his room most of the time. As punishment he was locked in a dark closet. As a result of this constant disapproval and  criticism he grew up struggling to receive love. He found it difficult to believe God could ever love him.

The Truth is: The Lord is a loving Father who speaks tenderly to His children; and even when He must discipline us, it is for our good. James 5:11 says: “We … have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.”

3. Your heavenly Father will never abuse you. This same boys father was cruel and domineering. He was often physically and verbally abusive towards him.  He still has mental scars from his father’s angry outbursts. His father’s behavior made him never feel truly accepted until he found salvation in Jesus.

The Truth Is: God is not an abuser. He is a good Shepherd who protects us. If you were abandoned by one parent or both, abused by someone, either physically, sexually or verbally, recognize that God did not approve of that behavior and He wants to heal you from the pain of that experience.

What a contrast when we compare the love of God to the so-called love of the world we live in. Our culture loves you when you are young and beautiful, but God loves you when you are old and not so attractive. Our world loves you when you are a celebrity, but God loves you when you are unknown and a complete nobody. Our world loves the rich and the powerful, but God loves the poor and the weak. Our world loves the extraordinary, but God loves the ordinary, people like you and me. And God has demonstrated this love for us in a tangible way.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Jesus, showing His love, died for us. We read in (Revelation 1:4-5), “Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood.”

Notice the use of the past tense, which means that it is done. If you have put your faith in Christ, then God has forgiven you through Christ for all of the wrong you have done. God loves you. He has loved you. And He always will love you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the amazing love You have shown me. Thank you for the people that you have brought into my life that exhibit the love of Christ as well. Help me to grasp this love so that I will be able to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

Reach out to God and ask Him to show you His fatherly love, you will not be disappointed. Remember, He is all He says He is!

If you don’t have Jesus in your life? Don’t put off Experiencing His Ultimate Love for you.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! August 18th 2018 – Where God Guides, God Provides

“And Abraham called the name of the place, The Lord Will Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”
(Genesis 22:14)

Abraham was willing to give his all unto the Lord. In obedience to God he was willing to let go of the next most beloved thing in his lifeñhis son. Jesus said this about our following of Him:

(Matthew 10:37) “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”

What do you and I put in front of the Lord in our lives? Is it our marriage, kids, work, or our own self interests? God is able to do such an amazing thing in our hearts and lives if we’d simply yield to Him as Abraham did in this chapter. Abraham was willing to offer his only son in obedience, but God instead offered Himself as the sacrifice (Genesis 22:8) through Christ who was to come. Abraham was told his descendants would be as the stars in the sky, basically innumerable. So it is for us in our time of testing. When we yield to the Lord in spite of the pain or difficulty in the current situation, we can trust by faith that the Lord will provide exponential blessing and goodness upon our lives.

“Giving our all to God will yield countless blessings many of which we may never come to know till we are in the presence of God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, please help me identify those things that have priority over my heart instead of You. Please give me the grace to be willing to forsake all and follow You in all my ways. Help instill in me that You have a plan and are in control. I love You and want the blessing You have for me and my life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

August 11th 2018 – Gods Family

“But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.” (Galatians 1:11)

The Gospel changes everything. Not only does it change us, but it also unites us with other believers. Many of the differences that may have divided us before, fall away because of the love of Christ. This is why it is so important to meet together locally at church, and personally with each other. When we grow in unity with one another, it blesses our life and is a great picture to our community.

Where does this unity come from exactly? Well, we believe similar things, we share close to the same value system in love God, love people. In addition, we believe God created the earth and sky. Many people may think we are different because we have different skin colors, ways of dressing or ways of making a living? Unity may even be dependent on whether or not we have ink or tattoos on our body? But no matter what you look like or how you may have been raised in Jesus, we are called “one body”. As the body of Christ, we are a family that seeks to love unconditionally no matter how different we may be.

“When we meet together, we encourage each other with acts of love and fellowship..”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the church. Thank You for bringing me together with brothers and sisters in Christ. While I know I am not perfect, help me to love others equally and to encourage others no matter the differences. In You, the church is united. Please help me to remember that no matter what. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 5th 2018 – His Amazing and Perfect Love

“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.”(Malachi 4:2)

The prophets of the Hebrew Scriptures often centered on a common theme of the coming judgment for the people of Israel. In the book of Malachi, it is no different. This final book of the Old Testament brings a very real promise of coming judgment, yet in the midst of this proclamation is a message of hope and blessings. You see, the reality is that our sin is worthy of God’s judgment. We have broken His laws and deserve punishment, but God does not leave us there. Instead, He stepped down out of Heaven, in the form of Jesus Christ, and made a way for us to be saved from this punishment.

When Jesus died on the cross over 2000 years ago, He proclaimed to the whole world His love for mankind. Now because of this amazing love, we can find hope and a future in a relationship with Jesus. When we realize our sin and turn to God for forgiveness, He opens His arms wide desiring to shower us with His grace and mercy. This is the God of the Bible, both perfect in judgment and perfect in love. Do you know Him? If so, rejoice because the coming of the Lord brings healing and joy! If not, then come to Him today and find rest for your weary soul and love for all eternity.

“The day of the Lord brings healing & joy to those who fear the Lord.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned against You and I pray that You would forgive me of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that I could be forgiven. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and help me to live a life dedicated to You. Thank You for Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have prayed this prayer, Congratulations!

August 1st 2018 – Share Jesus with Others

“But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.” (1 Corinthians 14:24-25)

Think about this. Jesus is the Son of God. He was and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He has all the best gifts ever created. Angels worship Him. All Heaven obeys Him. But, He left all that and came to earth as a baby, born in a manger. When He grew into a man, what were His actions? The entire time He walked the earth His thoughts were to bless us and draw everyone to Heaven. He shared everything He had with us, to the point of death. He laid down His life for us. He died on a cross so we could be forgiven of our sins.

This is the example He set for us. He has given you and I gifts to draw others to God. Our gifts are not for ourselves, but they are to bless others. It is important we think about others as we live day to day. It’s so easy to forget and push people from God instead of toward Him. If we are followers of Jesus, we have the opportunity to draw people to God. Today, look for opportunities to draw others to Him.

“God’s gifts used in God’s way will draw people to God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sharing your blessings and gifts with me. Please help me today to follow Your example and use these gifts to draw people to You. Please place friends, family, and acquaintances in my path every day so I can tell them about You. Thank You for working in my life, and using me to bless others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
