January 24th 2017 – Jesus, Hold Me Close

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” (John 20:15)

Jesus asked two very insightful questions of Mary at this point: “Why are you weeping?” and “Whom are you seeking?” Often in life, we find ourselves in a place where we feel like crying and other times find ourselves in tears. Jesus sees those tears and wants to dry them… if we will let Him.

We need to allow Jesus to do just that. Sometimes it happens through the hands and wisdom of others, but either way He wants to tend to our tears. Whatever the circumstance, life threatening Illness, brokeness of a marriage or loss of a loved one, spouse or child. Jesus is the answer to our pain..He will comfort us.

Sometimes though, we become strangely comfortable with pain and sadness. They become almost like old familiar friends. Jesus wants to be the better friend. For some, it may mean breaking a cycle long established and for others, it may mean coming out of a short season of pain.

Seek Jesus. Realize that in the midst of trial, trouble and temptation, He is there with you. You may need to turn around to face Him. He wants to pull you out of your problems and liberate you from sadness, but before He does, He wants to walk with you through the valley. Even when you are in the valley of the shadow of death, He is there. May you know He is there to dry your tears, lighten your load and be a closer friend than any you have ever known. Loved one, right now take a few minutes out of your busy day and turn to Him. You will be glad you did. And so will He.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for sticking by me through good times and bad times. You are the true friend. Sometimes, I become content to wallow in self pity. Please forgive me for that and humble me to allow You, through the hands of others, to comfort and even challenge me to trust you and Your promise. Please help me through the times of panic, the times when the pain is crippling and I can’t breathe. Hold me close Jesus when I feel all alone. Remind me that You are here and Love me when I am unable to see past the pain. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 21st 2017 – Do Everything In Love

“Let all that you do be done with love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14)

In the verse above, we find such a simple command. Simply put, we are to do everything with love. While this may appear simple in direction, it’s not simple in action. Because we are broken vessels in an evil world, it can be difficult to do everything with love. After all, our first reaction is to preserve ourselves. Our emotions, our lives, our stuff; these are the things we strive to maintain at all cost… and love demands we lose them for the sake of others.

(Galatians 2:20) “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

As Christians, we are no longer slaves to ourselves. We have been freed to love others just as Christ loved us. He is our great example as well as our strength. We cannot love rightly on our own. We must depend on Jesus. So next time your co-worker causes you to see red, look to the cross of Christ and the blood that He shed for you. He died for us when we didn’t deserve it so now we can forgive others even when they don’t deserve it.

“You’re never really living until you give your life away and start to love.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for Your love and grace. Because You loved me, I am able to love others in every circumstance. Give me strength to walk in obedient love and to look for opportunities to care for others around me. As Your love increases in me, may my selfishness decrease. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you do not know Jesus personally, Give yourself the greatest gift you could possible ever receive. I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves you and wants to help you. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus

January 19th 2017 – Work at Home

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:23-25)

Are you ready for an adventure with God? That’s a pretty loaded question, but one that we all need to ask. As a Christian, I am called to live for the Lord. This means a life dedicated to loving God and loving others. This also means sacrificing myself so that others can hear about Jesus and experience His love through me. This fact is all the more true when it comes to our home life and families.

Sometimes, when we serve the Lord we lose sight of the most important people we are supposed to care for…our family. Children are called to respect parents, wives are called to respect their husbands and husbands are commanded to love their wives like Jesus loves the church. All these elements work together to encourage us in the faith and create a solid foundation for ministry that happens outside the walls of our homes.

Are you loving your family? Do you serve your husband, wife or children like you would serve the person in need at church? Does your family know about Jesus and do they see your love for Him? These can be hard questions but if we get these right our houses can be lights shining in the darkness.

“Personal preparedness in ministry requires having a right standing with family and God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Forgive me for the times I have neglected my family in pursuit of other things. Help me to minister to their needs and to love them, so that my household will be a shining light for this world to see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 17th 2017 – Yesterday, Today, and Forever

“If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13)

Our God is a faithful God.  Even when we are without faith He keeps on keeping on for us. So many times we get upset or we just don’t understand why something happened or why it didn’t go the way we prayed.  God is still there.

During times like this it’s best not to run from God your Father, but run to Him. Run into His huge arms and let Him love on you.  Let Him embrace you and bring you the comfort that you need.  We will always have times throughout our lives where things happen, but God is there.  He is there to meet us where we are.

So today, no matter what is happening around you or in your heart, know that He is there, know that He will never leave you or forsake you. Even if you feel like you have let Him down, He remains faithful, He remains true to His Word and to His character.  Our Father cannot deny Who He is.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

Everyone in the whole world can deny Him, but He will continue to be true to the Word and true to Himself.  Remember, He is love, it’s who He is and love never fails and never changes. Love will always win and our Heavenly Father has given you the victory today.

So look up, look at His arms open wide and see the One who gave all that He is, for you.  God is LOVE IN ACTION, and it’s all for us.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise you and are so greatful that you are the one true God. A God of Love, Mercy and Grace. You are the same yesterday, today, and forever.  This gives me the confidence to know that no matter what I’m going through or will go through, You will see me through to victory. Thank you for Your sacrifice on the Cross so that I may live… In your precious name Jesus, Amen.

January 15th 2017 – Wars and Battles

Today’s message from Roy Squyres

“Where do Wars and Battles come from?” (James 4:1)

Man has been killing man from the beginning, when Cain killed Able and since our first parents (Adam and Eve) chose their own will be done, and not God’s will be done. Mankind has been infected with the fatal fleshly Cancer of Death (sin) into all generation, until our present day.

“For God spoke to man saying, ‘Every GOOD tree in the garden you may freely eat, BUT the tree of the knowledge of GOOD and Evil you will not eat, for in the day that you shall eat of it you will surely die’ “. (Gen.1:17-18)

Disobedient self-will (sin) entered Mankind that day when Adam and Eve wilfully chose Evil over God’s GOOD WILL, as Man already knew God (Jesus said, ‘Only God is GOOD’)

Nations wars against nation, neighbor battles neighbor, husbands and wives argue with each other, children are angry with parents, and on and on. Wars, Battles, Fights, Arguments, Killings, all because Man will have his own way, and believes the deadly lie of satan, the Evil father of death.

Jesus Christ, The KING of PEACE, spoke and showed us, by His example, True Love of Peace without wavering. He is and was the one TRUE GOD, and when we as Mankind put Him to trial, by beating Him, cursing , mocking, and falsely accusing Him, “HE HELD HIS PEACE”. He had not done anything Evil, but only went about doing GOOD. Where He chose not to do His own will, but only obey His Heavenly Father’s, we chose our own self-will to reject Him, and our own sins killed the God of Loving GOODNESS.

It takes two opposing each other to have a war. But if one chooses not to war, we see Jesus’ True example of Love and PEACE. His sacrificing His Will and laying His Rights down out of LOVE for us. God gave us free-will to choose, what would happen if we chose to surrender our self-will and give it to God and His GOOD-WILL be done? If we gave Him our self rights for His GOOD-RIGHTS to be done. Our wrongs for His Forgiving Love.

Jesus gave His Life for us, His innocence for our guilty willfulness, His GOODNESS for our Evilness. He did this for us and we can have Peace with God NOW—HE Will do it for you, if you let Him. Ask The KING of Peace in to your heart and put an end to your Wars and Battles.

You will–won’t you?

Prayer:

Holy Father, we are so weary, and worn out, and in deep need of Your Peace within us. Be please to send The KING of PEACE into our inner being. Take out of us, by the root, the desire of fleshly self-will to WAR and BATTLE and send King JESUS into our hearts, in Christ we pray Amen.

January 13th 2017 – My Ultimate Expression of Love

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10 )

It is one thing to say the words “I love you”, and it is quite another thing to prove your love. God did not only say that He loved us, He practically demonstrated it by sending us His only Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

While we all need an intellectual understanding of God’s love, many of us struggle to actually feel God’s love in the realm of our emotions. And if we don’t “feel” His love, we can spiral down to a place ruled by our emotions where we begin to question if He loves us at all.

It is at these times that we need to be reminded of God’s own definition of love found in 1 John 4:10… This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Father did everything that He could possibly do to prove His unwavering love towards us when He sent us Jesus.

When we struggle to believe that God loves us, we need not go any further than the cross to see the full expression of His love. When your feelings question God’s love for you, let faith rise up in your heart and thank your Father for His complete expression of love demonstrated in the work of the cross of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for your sacrifice of your Son Jesus, it was the ultimate expression of Your love for us. Please forgive us for the times when we have questioned your love for us. I believe that You love us and have demonstrated that love once and for all through the cross. I pray that the truth of Your love for us will be the bedrock of my faith even during the times when I don’t feel loved. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus I pray, Amen

January 12th 2017 – Heaven Focused!

“Not only that, but we also who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.” (Romans 8:23)

In the reality of Christianity, what do you bring to the table? There are really only a couple of possibilities – either you are bringing Heaven to earth, or you are not. It’s so easy to get caught up in today’s trials that we forget our Lord is triumphant. When your focus is on the world, you will be entangled in adversity. Focus on Jesus and the tribulations of this earth are short lived.

Have you ever spoken with someone who is fixated on all the troubles of their life? They bear a brand of defeat. Only the conquered should wear this badge of defeat. Christians are anything but conquered. Now, imagine someone –  a non-believer – observing a Christian enamored with this world and its caos. Would he see hope? Would this fellow be inclined to follow?

(Romans 8:24-25) “For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”

So, what do you bring to the table? What do you set before others for them to see? Is it Heaven or hell? Your faith is their evidence. If non-believers see you living out the substance of your faith they will know that your God is greater than this world’s woes.

If you are sitting at the station of this world waiting for you go on the gravy train you are sitting at the wrong station. That train, while tempting on the outside, has a only one destination, disappointment!

Christians, if the substance of your hope is worldly success and not Jesus, then you need to review your faith because others already are.

(Colossians 3:2) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

“Don’t focus on today’s groaning but on tomorrow’s glory.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the hope You have freely given to me through Your Son Jesus. Lord, help my doubt when I cannot see. As I eagerly wait in expectation of Your coming, strengthen me to persevere in the calling You have laid before me. I know that all things work together for good to those who love You. Lord, I commit my life to Your purposes today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 7th 2017 – Jesus, My Super Hero

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalms 27.1)

There is so much comfort in this verse.  Our Lord is our light, He is the One who gives us direction even when things seem dark.  He enlightens our path that we do not trip or fall.  He is there to give us salvation, or as this word means, safety, soundness, deliverance, and healing.

How can we fear anything that life or the enemy would bring?  Our Lord is with us twenty-four seven.  He promised us that He would never leave us or forsake us.

The Lord is the strength of our lives.  We see all the movies lately with all these superheroes in them.  Well, there is no superhero like Jesus.  He died for me and then conquered the greatest villain that there is, satan, and defeated him and made a show of him publicly.  That’s a true superhero, that’s a conqueror.  Our Jesus didn’t just win the battle, He won the battle and then gave us the victory.  That’s why we don’t have to fear. The Greater One won the battle, gave us the victory and told the loser, you will follow the rules.

So today, see Him as the strength of your life.  See Him as your light and comfort.  The clearer you see Him, the less you will see the enemy.  As God gets bigger to you, the devil and the problems of life get smaller.

I see my Jesus as big and I see the devil and his lies as small.  I see my God as my superhero and everything must bow its knee to Him. He is the Greater One and He lives in me.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, there are marvelous things that I do not know, nor can I comprehend. Things that happen in my life, and things that happen in our friends lives. Lord, I desire to be thankful, to appreciate everything that comes across my path.Lord, so often life hurts, I get angry — upset, I do not understand, yet Lord You ask me to be thankful for everything, and have faith – Thank You for being my Super Hero… In Jesus’ name Amen.

January 4th 2017 – I Messed Up, Again!

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” (John 4:13-15)

Have you ever messed up so badly that it left a sense of believing that God wants nothing to do with you? If your answer is “yes,” then you’re in good company, because we all have. We’ve all made poor choices and bad decisions. A bad decision can cost you your marriage, job, friendships and even your peace of mind.

But, if you’re willing to admit you’ve messed up, you’re a prime candidate for an encounter with Jesus. In fact, He specializes in ministering to messed-up people. One of the many things I love about Jesus is that He gravitates toward those who are typically ignored, ridiculed, hated and rejected.

One of the greatest examples of this is found in the book of John. In chapter 4, Jesus encounters a woman at a well. This nameless woman meets Jesus while she performs one of the most mundane tasks in her messed-up life — drawing water out of a well.
She quickly learned a lesson we all need to know as well — the mundane can become momentous when we let Jesus clean up our mess-ups and radically change our lives. Jesus wants to clean up our mess-ups so much that He will break down every possible barrier to do so.
For example, to meet the woman at the well …
Jesus overcame a cultural barrier. Jesus traveled through a region that His people “the Jews”  would always avoid. Jesus saw culture, not as a barrier to compassion, but as a bridge to ministry.
Jesus overcame a moral barrier. This woman carried a terrible reputation. Her past put her in the category of a Hall-of-Fame sinner. She had been married five times and was now living with a man who wasn’t her husband. With this track record, everyone in her community knew her, and no man would dare to speak with her in public. No man, except Jesus! Jesus engaged with this woman, and we see her fess up to her mess-up.
We live in a culture that teaches us to hide our mess-ups and call them anything except the sins that they are. Jesus demonstrated through this woman that He will forgive us when we are willing to confess our sin to Him.
Jesus is not intimidated by our past. He sees beyond our failures and offers us a faithful future. You can’t do anything so bad that it will cause God to love you less.
If you’re reading this today and feel like Jesus wants nothing to do with you, I want you to know that He will break every possible barrier to reach you. Jesus is so serious about the task that He left heaven and came to earth to restore anyone who is willing to be cleansed. Today, you can meet with Jesus, bring Him your mess-ups, and allow Him to clean you up.

“Addiction does not always kill the addict. But it kills the hearts of the family and friends that love you and tried to help!”

“Jesus wants nothing more than to forgive you of your past and give you a brand new fresh start, confess your sin, ask for forgiveness and ask Him into your heart”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me so much that You destroy every possible barrier that could keep me from You. Help me to quickly fess up to my mess-ups, so that I can receive the wonderful forgiveness that is only found in You. Please help restore my life and help restore the relationships that I caused pain to. Come into my life and rescue me Lord!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

January 2nd 2017 – God’s Enrichment Plan

“Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)

How is it that we can find enrichment when we give of ourselves? After all, shouldn’t the accumulation of wealth and stuff bring about enrichment in our lives? This may be how the world views growth and enrichment, but in God’s economy, growth comes through giving.

The sad reality is that the more we receive, the more we are likely to be selfish and greedy. When we act according to God’s design, our giving leads us into enriched, generous lives. In essence, our giving helps check those feelings of selfishness and greed. Most people use their blessings to be blessed, the question is, “Are you using your gifts, talents, resources and finances to bless other people?” If not, you are failing the test of being blessed in the first place. If you have failed that test, don’t worry. Instead, begin walking in thankfulness, and God will bring you to a place where you will pass with flying colors. Many times, a generous life begins first with thanksgiving, then obedience, sharing, and generosity. When we begin living generously with our time, energy and finances, God will bless us with more because we have been faithful with little.

“Receiving from God is both a blessing and a test.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for salvation and the countless other blessings I experience on a daily basis. Help me to live a life of generosity and love so that more people may hear Your Word and find new life in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen
