April 3rd 2018 – Shout It Out

“Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:45-46)

When Jesus was on the cross, in God’s eyes the whole world was on that cross also.  The sin of Adam was laid upon Jesus and He became sin for us.  Some people have a hard time receiving this but look at what it says “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:2)

Jesus, Who knew no sin, He never sinned once in His 30 plus years upon this earth, became the sin sacrifice for all of us.  This gift that God gave us is so powerful that if a person chooses not to accept it, it will separate them from God for all eternity.  At the moment that Jesus cried out these heart wrenching words all of creation shut down.  The world got darkened as they saw the Son of God die on that cross.

At that very moment when Jesus cried out, My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Jesus became my sin substitute.  He took all of my sin, my shame, my hell, He took everything, once and for all and placed it upon Himself.  Or, we can say that God put it all on Him for us.

Jesus became the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.  He became the curse so that I don’t have to be cursed in life.  He became sin so I don’t have to live in sin.  He became fear so that I don’t have to live in torment.  He became sickness so I can be healed.  He became the second Adam so that I can become a very son of God.

This is so amazing that we need to shout it to the whole world.  “World, God loves you and forgives you!”  He forgave me and I know that He will do the same for anyone that will receive it.

“Go out and share the Good News of the Gospel and give to others what God has given to us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for the Good News. Jesus I thank you that you took all my bad so I can have good. Because of what You did on the cross, I am forgiven and I am set free. I don’t want to ever live my life where I am not continually greatful for your sacrifice for me. I am not deserving, I can’t ever repay you, but I can forever Love you and I can share your story, share what You did for someone like me.

Forgive me for any pain that I caused you with my disobedience. Thank you for the people in my life that love me. Thank you for the disasters in my life, I thank you, because that is where I first found You. You were there to help me pick up the pieces of a shattered life and make something beautiful out of the wreckage. You are so good to me. I love you.. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have never experienced living in God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Please do not wait for the day that you wake up and realize that your life is a train wreck. I did and only because I insisted on doing everything on my own, my way. Ask Jesus into your life. He will guide you, and help you through the hard times and be the greatest and best friend you ever have.

April 2nd 2018 – The Complete Truth

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.”  (Acts 20:26-27)

It sometimes can be difficult to tell the complete truth. I think of doctors who run a series of tests and find an abnormality, maybe a spot, a lump or something else. They want to tell their patients that everything is okay. But they have to tell the truth so they can prescribe a course of treatment.

In the Old Testament book of Daniel, we read of a time when Daniel had to reveal the hard truth to King Nebuchadnezzar. He said, “King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper” (Daniel 4:27). In other words, “Judgment is coming, but there is still hope if you will repent.”

In the same way, as Christians we have to declare the whole counsel of God. The apostle Paul told the elders of the Ephesian church, “I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know” (Acts 20:26–27). Yet sometimes we edit out things we are uncomfortable with, like God’s coming judgment and Hell.

Yesterday Churches around the world spoke about the resurrection of Jesus Christ,  many of their messages said something like, “Believe in Jesus, and He will make you a happier person and bring you fulfillment.” “Choose Jesus and you will discover joy and contentment in your life.” But was the whole truth shared? How many Easter messages actually shared “What happens if you don’t choose to believe in Jesus?”

The church and the church body needs to share the complete truth. Not with smiles on our faces; we say it with tears in our eyes. It isn’t easy to tell someone, “The Bible says there is a judgment, and if we don’t believe in Jesus Christ, there actually is a place called Hell.”

“We must tell the complete truth!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life.. Purify my heart with Your complete truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. Help me Lord to share the truth with out of love, may it never  be perceived as arrogance. Open their ears to your message of salvation. I love You Lord and may I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

April 1st 2018 – Risen

“For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.” (Romans 11:30-32)

God offers all of mankind His mercy. Who are we to put limits on His mercy? When we choose not to minister the Gospel to another, we do just that. The definition of mercy is to not receive what you deserve. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remember that in no way did we deserve God’s merciful action. By no means did we merit Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the unrighteous and that He would bear the tremendous weight of our own sin on that cross. Through no power of our own, these events unfolded through the benevolent, merciful and loving Father which many want to push away. Let us commit ourselves to making sure that everyone hears God’s message of mercy to the broken. May all mankind hear the Gospel and make their choice. Let’s brace ourselves for our God given duties and make sure that the whole world hears.

“God is a loving and merciful God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life. May I live only for You. Purify my heart with Your Truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. May I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 31st 2018 – A God of Love

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

What a contrast the love of God is to the so-called “love” of our culture.

Our world loves you when you are young and beautiful; God still loves you when you are old and not so attractive.

Our world loves you when you are famous and a celebrity; God loves still you when you are unknown and a complete nobody.

Our world loves you when you are rich and powerful; God still loves you when you are penniless and weak.

Our world loves the extraordinary. God still loves the ordinary. People like you and me.

And God has demonstrated this love for us in a tangible way. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13)

“Love will find a way. A lack of love will find an excuse. It has no limits”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Because of Your love for me, I have forgiveness of sins and hope of heaven. Father, fill me with Your Spirit and help me to love others like You love me. Make me more like Jesus so that I can share Your grace and mercy with those around me. Use me today to show love. I praise You for the amazing love, Help me to grasp this love so that I will be equipped to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

March 28th 2018 – We Need to Forgive

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

Without even knowing you, I know this about you: You have been hurt in life. You have had unkind things said to you. You have had people do mean things to you. There have been times in your life where you’ve been treated unfairly.

When you’ve been hurt or betrayed, do you find it difficult to forgive? Many people do. In fact, forgiveness is an issue that both Christians and non-Christians struggle with mostly because it is often misunderstood.

Many times, we struggle with forgiving someone because it feels like we’re agreeing with or condoning the hurtful behavior. Other times we may genuinely want to forgive someone but we just can’t seem to get past our anger and our resentment. And there are still other times when we think we’ve forgiven someone, only to feel the familiar stab of anger resurfacing at a later time. So, what do you then?

Some people like to tell themselves that there is no need to forgive those who have wronged them because they don’t deserve forgiveness. But they have to ask themselves whether they deserve forgiveness themselves. “Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive.” C. S. Lewis.

Here is what the Bible has to say about forgiving those who have wronged us:

And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:30–32)

God’s command to forgive should be enough. But let me offer another reason why we should learn to be forgiving: it could actually extend our lives. Recent published studies have suggested that those who do not forgive are more likely to experience high blood pressure, depression, and problems with anger, stress, and anxiety.

Published in an article from Hope University Medical journal by Dr. Charlotte Witvliet, “If you are willing to exert the effort it takes to be forgiving, there are benefits both emotionally and physically.”

People who have been studying the medical benefits of forgiveness have come to the same conclusion that the Bible came to long ago: it is a good thing to forgive others.

You have the power to forgive just as you have been forgiven. Each of us has sinned many more times against God than others have against us. Since we have been forgiven of so much, we should in turn forgive. Forgiving or not forgiving others is an act of your own will. It’s your choice. But to forgive others is imitating Christ. Jesus did it, Stephen did it, and you can do it.

Do not carry the baggage of unforgivness ”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for forgiving me of so much. I ask You now to help me forgive others. When bad and painful memories come to me, I ask that I would again be reminded to forgive those who have wronged me. I need Your help to do this because sometimes I don’t feel like forgiving. Thank You for setting me free from carrying this baggage and guilt around. Thank You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

March 26th 2018 – Call On The Professional

“And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” (Mark 4:20)

A Psalmist wrote in the Bible, “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” For someone who has been in the pit of despair and in the mud and the mire, I stand on the other side praising God for all that He has donein my life. Isn’t that what following God is all about? Not the mud and the mire, not the pit of despair; but God being faithful to save us.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalms 34:18)

We all go through seasons in life that sometimes punch us in the gut and take the breath right out of us. Maybe it’s a terminal illness, the death of a spouse or family member. Possibly a child abusing drugs, talks of divorce or even the loss of a job. One thing we can rest assured about, God will get us through. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Spend time in the Bible, praying and seeking the Lord. Don’t allow your troubles to determine the fruit God wants to produce in your life. When you are feeling down bless someone by helping them. Take a walk and spend time talking to God. The best remedy for despair and pain is to bless someone else. Remember, we plant the seed, someone else will come along and water it, and God will give the increase. The promise from Him is thirty, sixty, and some a hundred-fold fruit in our lives.

“There is no mistake that God can’t fix. There is no pit that God can’t pull you out of.”

“God can take what is broken and restore it into something beautiful!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your promises. I am grateful that at times in my life You have fixed my mistakes. I am grateful that You have pulled me out of the mud and the mire at times in my life. Please help me in these desperate times Lord. Cast out all fear, cast out all doubt in my life. Heal me of my brokenness. Help me to also sow seeds into others lives and be a part of helping build Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen..

March 24th 2018 – All Things Are Possible

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)

When Jesus said all things, did He mean ALL THINGS?  Well, one thing that we have learned from the Word of God is that our Heavenly Father is not a man that He should lie.  If God said it, it is so.  So, with that in mind, we can have confidence in God and His Word.

We must take the Word of God as the Word of God, and know that all things are possible from His Word.  When we look into the Word and find a scripture that promises us something, like healing, then we need to spend the time that it takes to get that Word, or seed, deep into our heart.  We need to give the Word of God the time that it needs to germinate within us.

Just because we read a verse on healing does not mean it is going to grow in one day.

Remember this verse says, “All things are possible to him who believes.”  I need to get His Word into me and into that believing part.  I will say this, I believe that I am saved and no one can take that from me, yet when it comes to healing, when something is fighting my flesh, I let doubt in.

This is the good fight of faith.  This is where the rubber meets the road.  So what do I do to get it to the producing stage?  I meditate on the verses or promises until it becomes real to me, just like salvation is real to me.  When it gets to that place, then I can boldly say, “ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO ME BECAUSE I BELIEVE. AMEN!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You in all circumstances in my life because I know that I am your child and that you love me. I also know that all things are possible in my life because I believe in You without doubt, and Your Word.  You said it is true, so I trust, and I believe, and as I do, I see results! Thank you for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen…

March 22nd 2018 – Holy Spirit Anointed Prayers (Part 2 of 3)

“Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”  (Ephesians 3:14-21)

Here is the second of these Holy Spirit inspired prayers that the Apostle Paul gave us.  This is again one that we can pray for ourselves and for others.  As we pray this prayer, watch and see the Holy Spirit do a work within us and others.

In this prayer Paul is praying for a strengthening with God’s might in our spirit.  I don’t know about you but when my spirit is strong my entire being is full of strength. Paul continues on to ask that Christ might dwell in our hearts by faith and that we would get a full comprehension of the love of Christ, that we would understand the very depth of it, that we would understand how high it is and how deep it is.

If we, or anyone, would ever get a full understanding of the love and grace of God it would make a total and radical change within us. There is so much more in this prayer. These are just a couple thoughts but go ahead and pray this prayer each day for yourself and others.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Today, I pray for _______________, and pray this Holy Spirit anointed prayer over them. Father, thank You for opening their eyes as I pray this prayer, that they will see what is available to them in the kingdom of God. I also ask that we would stay obedient in praying for their salvation. Lord God please open us up to sharing Your word, and how You rescued us from bondage of this world. I thank You and praise you for all that you do in my life Lord. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

March 21st 2018 – Our Holy Helper

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

Sometimes I start projects with great enthusiasm, only to lose interest and move on to something else. I’m thankful God never does that with us. He always completes what He starts. In (Hebrews 12:2) we are told we should be “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” God finishes what He begins.

But sometimes the Devil whispers into a believer’s ear, “Your Not Good Enough” or “God won’t help you” or something like this “You’re not even going to make it as a Christian. You’re going to crash and burn.” Thats all a big lie. The Bible says that Jesus accepts everyone that repents, asks for forgiveness and will trust in Him with faith” also “That with the Holy Spirit will help you to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. We are told in (Philippians 1:6), “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Storms will come into every life, into the lives of both believers and nonbelievers. The rain will fall and the winds will blow. But it is only the child of God who can lay hold of (Romans 8:28), which says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Nonbelievers can quote that verse if they’d like, but it has no relevance to them whatsoever. Only Christians can lay hold of that promise.

Storms come and storms go. For some, life itself is one long storm. They may be facing very difficult circumstances. It could be a disability. It could be some tragedy that has befallen them and has altered their very existence.

There is hope, because no matter what you are going through right now, storms don’t last forever. God is in control. You will get to the other side.

“No matter what you are going through God will help you through it.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, It gets so hard trying to face the storms of life on our own especially when we feel weak. I need Your power and strength to face each one. Please continue to help and teach me to turn to You first. Help me learn to patiently endure the suffering and the hard times and honor You in the midst of them as I walk by faith. I lift up all of my troubles and faithfully trust in You Lord that you will guide us through the storms and calm the raging seas of our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 20th 2018 – Holy Spirit Anointed Prayers (Part 1 of 3)

“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. (Ephesians 1:15-23)

Throughout the epistles that the Apostle Paul wrote, we see some of his Holy Spirit inspired prayers. These prayers are full of the power of God and can be prayed for ourselves or for others.  We see in Ephesians 1:15-23, a powerful prayer to help us and others have open eyes to the things of the Spirit.

Paul is praying that God would give us or whoever we’re praying for, a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.  So many times people’s eyes are closed by demonic influences and it takes real prayer to break these hindrances.  As we pray this prayer over people, we’re asking the Holy Spirit to open their eyes to the things of God.

Do you know someone who seems to be so closed to the things of God?  Pray this prayer over them as often as you can.  Thank God for opening their eyes so their understanding will be enlightened and that they might understand their place in the kingdom of God.  There is no power stronger then the Word of God and these prayers that we’re going to look at in the next few days have the breath of the Spirit upon them. Use them and see what God is going to do.

Prayer:

I pray for ____________and I am going to pray this Holy Spirit anointed prayer over them.

Heavenly Father, thank you for opening their eyes as I pray this prayer, that they will see what is available to them in the kingdom of God. I pray that you enlighten their heart and that Your Holy Spirit surrounds them and engulfs their very soul. Lord God I also ask that we would stay obedient in praying for their salvation. Lord God please open us up to sharing Your word, and how You rescued us from bondage of this world. We pray this prayer in Jesus’ Holy name. Amen.
