September 21st 2019 – Jesus Is My Friend

“Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him. With them alone He shares the secrets of His promises.” (Psalms 25:14)

As children we used to run around and say, “I know a secret, I know a secret!” Well God has special things that He holds for special people. Our Father wants to reveal them to those whose hearts are right with Him. You see a secret is shared with close friends.  I don’t go and share my inner thoughts with just anybody, No, I share them with true friends. And you know what? Those that have a respect and love for the Father.  Those that give Him that special place in their hearts are friends of God and He shares His inner thoughts with them.

Jesus said that He doesn’t call us servants anymore, but He calls us friends.  So as a friend of God are we taking time each day to listen to His voice as He reveals His mysteries to us? God’s secrets are revealed to those who reverence Him.  They are revealed to those who love and respect Him.  To those whose hearts are for Him. God is not holding back from us, but He is looking for those who will take what He says to heart and use it to bless others.  He has a treasure of wisdom for us and He wants to pour it out to us.

So today take time to tell your Heavenly Father how much you love Him and how special He is to you and then watch and see how many things are revealed to you.  Take a few minutes even now and express your love to the One who loves you with such an intense love that He would send His one and only Son, to wash away all of your sins.

“While friends and family can fail us, Jesus will always be your most trusted friend!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and calling me your friend. Thank you for all of the times we cried together and laughed together. I and so greatful for you presence in my life. Please help me be a better friend to not only you but to others. May they always see you in me… I love you Lord.. in Your precious name Amen.

September 17th 2019 – Eternal Reservation

“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)

Jesus, in this verse, is telling us not to rejoice just because spirits are subject to us, but to rejoice because our names are written in heaven.  Have you ever made a reservation for dinner at a restaurant or maybe at an event and you get there and you tell them your name and they say yes, you have reservations for two.

Well this scripture is saying just about the same thing. Jesus went before us and because we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior we now have reservations in heaven.  We go to the restaurant or hotel and they open their book to see if our name is in there, and the Bible says that God does the same thing.

On that day, He will open the Book of Life and say to us, yes, you have believed on the Name of my Son. Yes, you have received the gift of salvation, the gift that only Jesus can give. Come, enter into my presence and enjoy the reservation that has been set from the foundations of the world.

I don’t know about you, but for me, I’m going to dance and lift my hands and say, “Thank you Jesus, for going to the cross for me and shedding your blood for me. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice for my sins and because of what you have done for me, I will now live with you for all eternity.”

If this is Good News for you today, think of someone you can share this great truth with. Today, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Today you have have a eternal reservation.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, because of Your sacrifice on the cross for me. I have assurance because I believe in You and have confessed in You Jesus as my Lord and Savior. My name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and I have my eternal reservation for heaven. Thank you for your endless pursuit of me Jesus.. I love and praise You. In you precious name.. Amen.

September 15th 2019 – What Are You Worth?

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

A priest was having dinner with a family that had adopted a small child through the church. The family had composed of a father, mother, and a 10-year-old boy. After dinner, the adults discussed the son and the adoption: The Father said “The child was just a small poor helpless orphan when we first saw him. He was dirty and in rags, he smelled. And his shoes-they were the worst of all. The uppers were ripped and the soles had holes. We gave him new clothes, but kept those shoes to remind him how bad off he was before us. Whenever the boy complains or misbehaves, I get those shoes out to help him remember just where he came from.

His father had told both priest and boy, just how much he was worth to his father. Throughout this child’s life,  he was reminded time and time again. He also was told that he probabally would never amount to anything. I don’t need to tell you how bad this little boy was hurt or how it affected his adult life.

What are you worth?

In the eyes of the world, we are probably not worth very much. When we breathe our last, our passing won’t be marked by half-mast flags, elaborate funeral corteges, and a multitude of speakers to sing our praises.

It’s not likely that Jewish media will run a cover story or that CNN or FOX will break in with a special news bulletin. There is quite a contrast between the way others perceive our value and the way God loves us.

So that we might be saved, our Heavenly Father sent His holy Son on a mission of mercy. Born in Bethlehem, Jesus became one of us. Ignored by those He had come to save and rejected by many, He spent every day of His life for us.

But Jesus did more than live for us. He also suffered and died for us. Carrying all the sins we had committed; He was arrested, abused, condemned, and crucified. Jesus made this great sacrifice all because the Father wished to call us His children and adopt us into the family of God.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)

So what are you worth?

“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” (Isaiah 49:16)

Jesus shows you. The Father tells you. You are worth the life of God’s own Son!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to be able to comprehend the incredible value You place on my life. I receive the love gift of Your Son Jesus as the price You paid in order to purchase my redemption. I acknowledge that my worth does not come from what I do or where I came from, but simply because of Whose I am. Because of Jesus, I am accepted as Your child and am Your most treasured possession. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus’ I pray, Amen.

September 13th 2019 – Unlikely Character

“Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.” (1 Corinthians 15:8)

Anyone who has read through the bible knows that God really does choose the most unlikely people. There is Moses, who murdered an Egyptian. King David, commonly known as a man after God’s own heart, who committed adultery and murder. Then there was Paul, (known as Saul during that time) who was an intelligent man who knew the Hebrew Scriptures and had a passion for God. The problem was that he did not believe Jesus was the Messiah. Because of this, he led the way in the persecution of everyone who called themselves a follower of Jesus.

I’m certain that had we been given the choice about Paul, we probably would have asked God to remove him completely from the equation. After all, with Paul out of the picture, persecution would slowly fade and the church would begin to grow. It may sound good, but God had an even greater plan in mind. Instead of removing Paul from the equation, Jesus changed the equation completely. He changed Paul’s life and transformed him into one of the greatest missionaries this world has ever seen. This man that hated Jesus was now in love with His Savior to the point of giving his life for Him. Because of Paul, we have much of the New Testament and a witness to the power of the Gospel to change a life forever.

“God often chooses the unlikeliest characters as His trophies of grace to reach and teach others about His love and plan of salvation.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You Father for Your love and grace. Thank You for choosing the unlikely characters for Your work. It speaks so wonderfully of Your grace. Lord, I know that I too am an unlikely character, but I pray that You would use me in mighty ways today and everyday, thank you for loving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 12th 2019 – Forgiveness

“Jacob looked up and there was Esau, coming with his four hundred men; so he divided the children among Leah, Rachel and the two female servants. He put the female servants and their children in front, Leah and her children next, and Rachel and Joseph in the rear. He himself went on ahead and bowed down to the ground seven times as he approached his brother. But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept.” (Genesis 33:1-4)

When reading this passage, one might think, “That is so nice. The brothers are excited to see each other.” But the truth about the entire matter is that Jacob betrayed Esau in a mighty way. Jacob took everything from Esau – his birthright and his blessing. And after that betrayal, Jacob hit the road and never looked back.

Have you ever wondered what thought processes Esau went through to get to this place of forgiveness? The Bible doesn’t mention how Esau forgave Jacob for his betrayal. We just know he did. We know he did because the first time Esau saw Jacob, he ran for him and embraced him. Esau was able to forgive him and not kill him like we thought he would.

Esau forgave Jacob, ran to him and embraced him before Jacob could even say, “I am so sorry for what I did to you.

Why can’t we do this? Why do we hold onto hurt?

Spend some time today with the Father and ask Him to reveal to you anything that keeps you from offering forgiveness to another.

Do not carry baggage from people who have wronged you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank you for all that you have done to prepare me for this season of life. As you know, I have also been in Jacobs shoes, ashamed because of something I have said or did to someone. Our natural human reaction is often to turn and head in the other direction instead of facing the person we have wronged. I am greatful for your unconditional love. I thank you for the presence of your Holy Spirit in my life to encourage me to do what is righteous in your name. I pray that you continue to not only work in my life but continue to work on the hearts of my adversaries. I love you Lord, In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 5th 2019 – More Than You Could Imagine

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Think of your most extravagant thought and then try to think of something way beyond your wildest dreams. Even if you have a vivid imagination, there will still be a limit to what you are able to comprehend. However, your Father does not have the same limitations that you have. He says that He is able to do immeasurably MORE than anything that you could ask or imagine.

The sky is the limit as far as He is concerned. He knows no earthly barriers or boundaries that will keep Him from fulfilling the best plans and purposes for His children.

We can choose to live our lives in the confines of our own natural understanding and perceived limitations, or we can choose to believe what God has promised for us. That He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us! Our Father is the biggest, strongest and most wonderful Dad in the universe and He has promised that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we ask or imagine!

“God is able to do more for you than you could possibly imagine.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that You love me and You have a plan for me that is immeasurably more than I could ever possibly imagine. Thank You for giving me Your precious Holy Spirit who is at work in me to fulfill all that You have purposed for me. Help me to believe You for greater things in my life than my own human limitations can comprehend. Thank You for the truth in a world that has become full of lies. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

August 25th 2019 – Hurting People Hurt

“Did I commit sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?” (2 Corinthians 11:7 )

Can you imagine having the apostle Paul as a pastor? When we think of Paul we think of the “perfect pastor” whom everyone loved and yet, (2 Corinthians 11) paints a different story. In this powerful, yet sad chapter, Paul is forced to defend himself against people in the church who were coming against him.

There were those in the church in Corinth who were saying that Paul was only in it for the money (even though he did not receive anything from them), and there were people in that church that saw him as a lesser teacher because he did not demand that they pay him. In the end, Paul could not win. Why did Paul NOT receive funds from them? Because they acted like they didn’t want to give, like they couldn’t afford to give, and acted like they shouldn’t have to give. They could have sown into Paul’s ministry and shared the benefits and blessings but because of their selfishness, they missed a glorious opportunity. Paul knew this and yet, he loved them anyway. He spoke Truth in love, hoping that they would see the Truth. So, it is with our lives. There are times we will speak the Truth in love and others will not listen. If they don’t, love them through it and allow the Lord to use your gentle witness to impact their life forever.

“You can’t win with some people but don’t stop trying to with others.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, There are people in my life that I struggle with. No matter how hard I try or how much love I freely give to them, they continually cause me to wonder why. Help me to be a loving witness to them. Give me opportunities to share the Truth in love while being sensitive and patient with the work of Your Spirit. Also, if I am the issue, please help me to be aware of it so that I can bring it to You. Thank You for allowing me to continue this ministry without ever being paid or asking for donations. Thank You for keeping me through the trials when people write hateful things and attack me verbally for sharing your truth on this site.  I love You Lord.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Jesus, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious name Amen.

August 21st 2019 – Unconditional Love

“I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” (2 John 1:5-6)

Saying the words “I love you” is easy, but how many people do you love so deeply that you expect nothing in return from them.

Love is unending; love is not selfish because it asks for nothing in return; love is unmerited because it is not deserved; love is unconditional because it is not based on actions; and it is from God because it is not something that can be done in your own strength.

God loved you so much that even knowing you would turn away and very possibly never return His love, He still sent His one and only son to die for you.

Once you accept and understand this concept of love, you can grow into who God created you to be. How do you do this? By allowing the Holy Spirit to work in you, relying on the Word of God, and applying it your heart.

Then there will be a new life, new desires, new nature and a new heart.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)

This unconditional love, when you understand it, will inspire you to respond to others in the same way. Love without expectation just as God did for you.

Unconditional love is not always easy. Loving another person when they can be hateful or mean to you can be difficult, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love.

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Who are you struggling to love? Take the situation to the Lord and then look for an opportunity to show God’s love to that person. You’ll be amazed at what God will do!

“In growth and maturity, unconditional love is the test. Even the unbeliever loves when all is going well.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the love You have shown me. I know there have been times I have not loved others like I should, and I ask for Your forgiveness. Help me to show the same kind of unconditional love You have shown me because I desire to love You and to love others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 20th 2019 – Brand New Day

“Dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”(Philippians 3:13-14)

I once heard a story about a man who was slowly losing his memory. After a lengthy examination, the doctor said that a risky operation on his brain might reverse his condition and restore his memory. However, the surgery would be so delicate that a nerve could be severed, causing total blindness.

The surgeon asked, “So, which would you rather have, your sight or your memory?” The man pondered the question for a while and replied, “My sight, because I would rather see where I am going than remember where I have been.”

Our enemy is always trying to dig up the past and keep us all bound up in our failures. Instead of focusing on what was, lets see what God’s Word has to say about it.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Four Things You Must Do For a Fresh Start to Occur:

(1) Forget the former things. It will only weigh you down and keep you from where you are going.

(2) Do not dwell on the past. This just jumbles your mind with garbage. There’s no room for garbage when making a fresh start.

(3) Acknowledge the fresh start is a gift from God. He’s doing a new thing in you. “Do you not perceive it,” we are asked. Don’t miss it.Trust God. He’s making a new way for you. Haven’t you done it your way enough?

(4) Trust Him. Not for a quick fix, but in making a “new way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Be Encouraged! Today is a new day! Today and every day we have a choice to make! Like Paul, we must choose to press forward and put aside our past. We must purpose to keep our eyes on the Lord, not on our successes or failures, but upon on what can we do for Him today!

“Celebrate the new day with shouts of praise, love and grace and with a beautiful smile upon your face.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, the stars and the seas declare Your goodness and love. By Your Holy Spirit, help us do the same. Open my heart and my eyes to see You Lord while observing creation all around me. We place today in Your hands and trust You to direct my day until I place my head back onto our pillows to sleep.. Thank you for Your presence in my life. I love You. Thank You for my family and my friends.  In Jesus’ precious and glorious name I pray, Amen.

August 19th 2019 – Jesus Paid the Price, Come to Jesus and be Free!

“Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “Receive the gift from the captives-from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have come from Babylon-and go the same day and enter the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah.” (Zechariah 6:9-10)

Whether we realize it or not, we have all been captives at one point or another. In fact, many still are. This doesn’t mean that we are prisoners of war or slaves to some regime, but rather we are all born as slaves to our own sin.

“Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” (John 8:34-35)

Being a slave to sin is dangerous because many times those who are in chains do not realize it, and in some cases they even love their captivity. This self-deception leads to a life of pain and heartache – but there is hope. Jesus Christ came into this world to proclaim freedom to those who are captive to sin. As He took His last breathe on the cross, the chains of sin that held so many down were rendered powerless. Now, if we would simply come to Jesus seeking His forgiveness and the freedom He offers, He will give us the key to unlock our chains and the power to live an abundant life.

“God desires to free you from your sin and give you an abundant life.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have been held captive by my sins. Father, forgive me of all these things and release me from my chains. I believe that Jesus is the key to freedom, and I trust in His payment for my sins on the cross. Fill me with Your Spirit and use me to share the key to freedom with others. Please set me free from the Slavery of Sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Put your faith and trust in Jesus! If you do not know him personally please read below.

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

(Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Savior the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.
