October 30th 2015 – The Promise is Yours to Take

images (3)

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

Many times we can feel like hanging it all up.  You know, when we say things like, is this really ever going to happen?  Will  healing ever take place?  I’ve been praying for a spouse for so long, and it just seems like I’m getting older and older.

In this verse, it says, “DON’T GIVE UP”.  It’s not always easy, but I’ll tell you this, it is rewarding.  Remember that God is always doing a work in us and around us.  He is bringing situations together, and when it involves others, He’s got to get everything all lined up, and He is the only One Who knows how that all works.

God is developing us into the image of His dear Son, so when it takes a little longer then we would like, hold on.  Let God, your loving Father, take the reins of your life and you’ll see how it will all work out for the best.

The journey at times may seem bumpy or even scary, but know that God made the train and He sure knows how to drive it.  The last part of this verse states that we need endurance.   We know that, but we don’t want to wait for it.  Yet, if we will hold on and are patient, and do His will, it says that we will receive the promise.  So today, get your eyes on Him.  Make Him the most important person in your life, and at the right time, things will happen and you’ll say, “Man, I’m glad I waited”.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I choose today, to do it Your way, and not my way.  I choose to wait on You, and I know that You always have my best interest in mind.  I know that You will make it all work for Your good and mine. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus name Amen.

October 29th 2015 – When One Door Closes, Another One Opens

images

The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.” (Isaiah 22.22)

Our Lord Jesus, is the One who can open doors for us and also close doors for us. What a comfort to know this.  Many times I come to a place of prayer, and I don’t know what to do, what decision to make.  I pray this prayer.  “Heavenly Father, You said that You would open doors for me and also close doors for me.  I have this decision to make, and I’m not sure what to do, but my trust is in You.  I am believing that you will open this door if it’s Your will, and also shut this door if it’s not Your will. I thank you for this in Jesus Name”.

In a prayer like this, we put our complete trust in the will of God, which is always the best.  Now, in saying that, we have to accept what God knows is best for us, and that might not always be what we want.  We might want what we just prayed about, but God knows the future and He only wants what He knows will be a blessing for you. It’s not always easy, that’s for sure, but if we could see into the future and see what our loving Father sees, then we would want His will.

The Bible says in (Psalm 37:23) “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, and He delights in his way”.  God has my back.  In fact, I want Him to have all of me.  So today, trust Him, as Lord and King of your life, and place yourself into His care and trust. Then, watch your steps line up with His good will for your life.”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I thank You that my steps are ordered by You, and that You Lord will open the good doors for me and shut the bad ones. I trust You and am so greatful for all that You do in my life. I Jesus precious name, Amen.

October 28th 2015 – Like the Old Hymn Says

images-5

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:2 )

There is this old hymn (song) we used to sing in the firat church i attended. It went like this:  “Look to Jesus and believe, look to Jesus and receive”.  Isn’t that the truth?  When we look to Jesus, believing, He seems to get everything put together for us. I sure want my life to be a reflection of Him. The way that I see a reflection is by looking into a mirror.

This verse is saying to us to look to Jesus, He is the One that began this work in us, and He is the One that will bring it to completion. The bible says it like this, “…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith”.  I like that.  What I have to do is fix my eyes on Him, and He will do the rest.  He started this work in my life years ago.  For some of you it could be many years, or just a few days, but it doesn’t matter.  What matters is that He is going to do a perfect work within us.

I always say it like this, “it’s all about Jesus.”  When I get me out of the way, and let Him be Lord and King of my life, everything just seems to work out.  When I try to make me king in my life, that’s when things just seem to go downhill.  You know, He made us, and He can sure finish this up in us.

So today, be encouraged.  He’s got your life in the palm of His big hand, and He won’t let you down.  He started it, and He will complete it.  Isn’t that great?

Heavenly Father, Today, I am encouraged, because I see that what You Lord has started in my life, You will bring to completion.  This isn’t about me, it’s about You Jesus in my life and through the Holy Spirit in me, and You cannot fail. In Your precious name, Amen.

October 27th 2015 – Teach your Children in Gods Ways

images-4

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

Teach your children in God’s ways.  Why, you might ask?  Because if we don’t the devil will make sure that he teaches them in his ways.  Many a dictator has said, you give me the children and I can take the world.  We, as parents, need to take time each day to teach our children of the wonders of God.  It will bless them and help them to be more than conquerors in life.

When your children are young and you go for a walk, show them the wonders that God the Father has made.  Show them the ocean and the fish.  Show them the mountains and the flowers.  Show them the butterfly and the cow.  You see what I mean?

As they start understanding the Word of God, have times of devotion.  Read the Bible and let them read it.  His Word is powerful and it will do as it says in (Psalm 119:130) “The entrance of Your words give light; It gives understanding to the simple”. In other words, the Bible will make our children smart, and not just knowledge smart but life smart.

When our children are grown, we as parents can still pray for them and trust that the Word that we have planted in their hearts will not return void but will accomplish all that it was set out to do.  God’s Word is a seed and if we did our job as they were growing up, we know that God will make sure that there is a great harvest in their lives.  Our children will be blessed in all that they do. When they have their own children they will have much more patience and able to experience greater peace in a world that is in caos.

Prayer

Father God, Your Word is so powerful.  It is filled with life and truth.  Today, I make a decision to plant Your Word deep within my children’s hearts to the best of my ability. I ask with absolute faith and I believe that it will bring forth a hundred fold in their lives. I love you Jesus and are so greatful that You are my Savior. We pray this in Your precious name. Amen.

Invitation

If you are a parent or anyone living without Jesus in you life.

Please consider what you are missing in your life or even denying in your childrens life. Marriages will be stronger with Jesus, You will experiance the ability to love much more greatly with more patients. Dont allow the enemy to get footholds into your relationship or childrens lives.

Its as simple as this: Please pray the prayer with me below.

“God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that way will eventually lead to death. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge that Your Son Jesus Christ gave His life for me on the cross at Calvary. I ask humbly to receive the forgiveness You have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer please email me and let me know. roblavallee@gmail.com I would love to pray with you.

October 26th 2015 – Why Would God Choose Us (Part 5)

“Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. 27 Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, 28 chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? 29 That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. 30 Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. 31 That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

Today, as I wrap up this mini-series on why God choose us, from, I want us to look at how the Message Bible brings these verses out.  God looked down from heaven and He chose us in spite of us. Isn’t that great?  We are chosen by the Great “I Am” to be a co-partner with Him, to help people and share His message of eternal salvation.  God could have just done it Himself, but He chose to work through us to let people see the light.

That’s why we can never boast in ourselves, because we know who we are.  We know where we came from, so our boast is always in God.  As we looked at David, Rahab and Joseph these last few days, we could have looked at so many more in the Bible that started off badly, yet God took them on a journey and made something great out of them.

So today, don’t put yourself down.  See yourself the way God your Heavenly Father sees you, “IN JESUS”!  That’s why He sees you blessed, because Jesus is blessed.  That is why He sees you healed, because Jesus is healed.  Start seeing yourself the way God sees you and never forget from where you came, and yet, always remember where you’re going.  Enjoy the ride, He brought you this far, He’ll get you to the finish line.

Prayer

God my Father, You have gotten me to the starting gate and I know that He will get me to the finish line.  It’s not about me, it’s about Christ in me, the hope of glory. I love you

Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.(1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

I love the way this verse speaks of US. Yes, not many of us had everything going for us, but God still chose us for this great salvation.  As we continue to look at different people in the Word of God that maybe had it, then lost it, and then got it back, I think of Joseph. Here’s a young man that is living a good life, enjoying the blessing of being his father’s favorite.  Yet this put him at odds with his brothers.

Many of you know his story but here is a quick synopsis of it.  He is the son of Jacob, born from the wife that Jacob truly loved.  At this point, He is their firstborn son and Jacob distinguishes Joseph by giving him a special multi-colored coat.  His brothers get jealous and sell him into slavery.  From there he is working for Potiphar and receives favor from God.

He is lifted up as a slave, and then Potiphar’s wife (Potiphar – Is captain of the palace guard) gets eyes for him, and when Joseph says no, she cries rape.  So he gets thrown into prison, but God is still with Him. Then Pharaoh has a dream and Joseph interprets it and gets lifted to the place of second in all of Egypt.

So, as we can see today, if we stay faithful to God, no matter who lets us down, even our family, God has His eyes on us and will get us out of the pit and lift us to a high place.  No matter who hurt you, forgive them, and let God take you to the place that He has prepared for you.

Prayer

Father God, Today, I forgive those who have hurt me and I thank you Father, for taking me to a higher place, a good place of blessings in you. We love and praise You, In Jesus precious name, Amen

The next person that I want us to look at in this series is Rahab.  Her story is found in Joshua 2.  You see, the Bible doesn’t give the occupation of every person, but it does tell us hers.  Rehab was a prostitute and yet God sent the spies to her house, and I believe that the reason He did is because He saw that she had a pure heart, a heart of faith.  Here is what the Bible says about her.

(Joshua 2:1) “Then Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia Grove. He instructed them, “Scout out the land on the other side of the Jordan River, especially around Jericho.” So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night.

Then we see in Hebrews that she is in the Hall of Faith with other great men and women of God.  (Hebrews 11:31) It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God.   For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.

The thing that is so amazing is that she is in the lineage of Jesus.  That’s right, an ex-prostitute is in the line of Jesus.  See it for yourself. (Matthew 1:1) “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: (Matthew 1:5) Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse,”

So you see that even when life throws you a lemon, you can go ahead and make lemonade with God’s strength.  We don’t know why she started in this lifestyle, all I know is that if you let God be God in your life, He can take the lowest part of you and make it His highest.

So today, don’t look at where you have come from, look at where you’re going to go.  With God on your side, how can you lose?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, If you are for me, how can I lose? Today Father God, please take my low points and turn them into great opportunities to help others.

Never forger that God wants to free you, and save you of the slavery of sin. click here to learn more.

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (1 Corinthians 1:27)

We looked at King David yesterday.  Even though his father rejected him, God didn’t, and when it was time for Him to come to the next step, he was ready.  We see this in the great story of David and Goliath.  When David came to where the children of Israel were fighting the Philistines, he was immediately put down by his older brother.

(1 Samuel 17:28-30) Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.

David didn’t let this discourage him.  He moved on with what he knew he had to do.  It should be the same with us.  There will be times that even our family members might not understand why we believe the way we do, but we need to be true to God and we will see that He will get us right where He wants us to be.

Discouragement will always come and at times it might come from where we least expect it, but we need to know that even like David, God is with us.  He promised He will never leave us or forsake us.  So today, if you feel discouraged or that no one understands, let me say this, “GOD DOES” and He will see that you get to the promised land that He has for you.

Remember, people look at the outside, but God looks at the inside.  Keep your heart pure, serve Him and watch Him line everything up in your life and get you into a position for success.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, My feet are ordered by You and I know that You will get me into the right place at the right time.  You guide my footsteps and my trust is in You. My faith is in You Lord, it gives me all the confidence I need. I love You, I paise You and trust You. In Your precious name, Amen.

Invitation

If you are ready to ask Jesus into you life please pray the prayer with me below.

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:27)

When you look through the stories of the Bible, one thing stands out, and that is that God doesn’t do things like the world does.  He operates the way He wants to and nobody is going to tell Him differently.  We see this so clearly in the type of people that He uses.  He doesn’t go for the high and mighty, He goes for the low and humble, and makes them into who He wants them to be.  For the next few days I want us to look at different people in the Bible and see how God chose them and used them.

King David:  David was a young man that watched his father’s sheep.  One day when the prophet Samuel came to anoint one of his sons to be the next king of Israel, his father never even called him to come in to meet this great man of God.  Yet after Samuel went through all of David’s brothers he asked if there was another.  Look at what the Bible says:

(1 Samuel 16:10-12) Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, “The LORD has not chosen these.”  And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.” So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”

David’s father might have passed him up, but God didn’t.  At times you might feel like you were passed up, but stay faithful and close to God your Father, because He is the one that has great plans for you.  He never misses the one that He wants and what He is looking for is a person with a pure heart.  So today, be that person.  Yes, why not you?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, It is You Lord that promotes and makes us strong, so today my trust is in You.  Lord God, You will get me to the place that You want us to be. Thank You for all you do. InJesn the name of Jesus, Amen.

As King David faced Giants in his life, so will we. Don’t face them alone.. if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, please click here to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ
