February 6th 2024 – No More Tears

“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4

The first book of the Bible (Genesis) begins with an intimate interaction between God and man and the last book also ends in a similar fashion, with God Himself wiping every tear from our eyes. What a way to end the story! With our Heavenly Father bringing us on His knee to wipe away every tear from our eyes. Maybe it will be at that moment when we will realize that we are finally home.

I wonder if the tears we shed will be a mixture of joy at being in the Father’s presence, and relief that there will be no more death or mourning, no more crying or pain. Whatever the reason for our tears, the soothing comfort of a Father’s love will assuredly take away all our pain and make all our suffering but a distant memory. We have this promise, that at the end of all time, we will find ourselves in the arms of the Father. He will come and live with us and be our God and we will live with Him and be His people.

May this be the hope that we cling to for those who have gone before us in Christ and for us as well. While our temporal life on earth may soon come to an end, we have the hope of an eternity living near to the Father’s heart.

“One day, God will wipe away every tear from our eyes.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You that soon there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. When I look at this lost world and I see such hurt and lack of love for our fellow man, people killing one another and others starving to death. Without love and compassion for one another our lost world has become so desensitized. Without knowing you and good news of Your gospel what hope does our fellow man have? It is my prayer Lord that You will use your church and your modern disciples to reach out to this hurting world. That through You, marriages and relationships can be saved that otherwise would fail. That through You broken, damaged, and lost people can again have hope. That You have already paid the price to redeem them and make them a new creation in You. That Your Holy Spirit will inhabit them, and may they experience forgiveness and experience Your everlasting love. I know that You have promised to wipe away every tear from our eyes. I look forward to that day when I will see You face to face and be with You forever. Thank You for the incredible hope that I have because of Jesus. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus’ I pray, Amen.

February 5th 2024 – Close to His Heart

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” Isaiah 40:11

There are many illustrations in the Bible that speak of God’s desire for intimacy with mankind. This is one of my most favorite visual images! God uses an illustration of a loving shepherd to demonstrate how He feels about us.

Just for a moment, shut out the world around you and close your eyes. Try and visualize what God is saying through this picture with the eyes of your heart. Can you see the loving shepherd, gently picking up His little lambs in his big strong arms? Can you see the look on the shepherd’s face as He lovingly gazes down into the eyes of each lamb held close to His chest? What a picture of intimacy and safety.

There is no other place that these lambs would rather be at that moment in time. Their shepherd cares for them and has vowed to lay his life down for their protection. He has truly won their hearts. God wants us to know, that this is how He wants to relate to you and I. He is our shepherd and He wants to pick us up in His big strong arms and hold us tightly to His chest that we might feel the beating of His heart.

Can you be a little lamb who needs to be picked up and held? If you can, you will find a place of safety and rest that is better than anything you have ever experienced. If not you need to ask Jesus into your heart.

As a shepherd carries a lamb,  Jesus carries you close to His heart.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I ask that You would pick me up and gather me in Your big strong arms. I want to hear the beating of Your heart and to feel the warmth and safety of Your embrace. I know that You have made a special place reserved just for me. You are the Great Shepherd, and I am just a little lamb who needs to be held. Thank You for holding me close to Your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

February 3rd 2024 – Pray With Amazement

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry” Psalm 34:15

When I was a boy, I often wonderd how God could listen to so many prayers at the same time. How could He possibly hear each one and yet keep the babble of voices separate? And how could He answer those prayers when one person asks for rain and another for sunshine both on the same day?

These problems no longer trouble me, even though I still can’t explain how God can respond to our prayers. I do know, however, that He is all-knowing and present everywhere, and that His wisdom and power are beyond our comprehension.

We don’t have to take turns coming to Him, nor must we wait for just the right opportunity. At any time and in any place we can lift our voices to the Lord with full assurance that He will hear us. And He does more than just receive our requests—He comprehends, He understands, and He perceives exactly what His children ask for in faith.

Has God heard you yet today? He invites you to make your requests known to Him. What a tragedy that so many of His children go through the day without uttering a single prayer to the One who takes pleasure in hearing their voices! Proverbs 15:8 says, “The prayer of the upright is His delight.” So pray. God listens!

There never is a night or day When God won’t hear us as we pray;

There is no time, there is no place, When He would withhold His love and grace.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We want to thank You for hearing each and every prayer that we make to You., and we give praises to each prayer that You have answered. It still amazes me how even when it’s sometimes not the answer we may want, when we look back we can see that it’s is always what was best for us. We love You and we sing your praises. With love, I give it all to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

February 2nd 2024 – The Truth Will Set You Free

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

In a world filled with deception, half-truths, and misinformation, it can be challenging to discern what is real and what is not. However, as followers of Christ, we have been given a powerful promise: the truth will set us free. Jesus, in His infinite wisdom, spoke these words to a crowd of people searching for answers.

The truth that Jesus spoke of is not limited to mere facts or information. It encompasses a deeper understanding of who He is and what He has done for us. Jesus Himself declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” John 14:6. The truth that sets us free is rooted in our relationship with Him, for He is the embodiment of truth.

As Christians, we are called to live in truth, both in our words and actions. The apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 4:25, “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” Living in truth means being honest with ourselves, with others, and most importantly, with God.

When we embrace the truth, we experience liberation from the bondage of sin, guilt, and shame. The truth of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross sets us free from the consequences of our wrongdoing. It offers forgiveness, redemption, and a fresh start. In knowing the truth, we find peace, joy, and the assurance of eternal life.

However, the journey to discovering the truth requires humility, openness, and a willingness to seek it. It requires us to align our hearts and minds with God’s Word, which is the ultimate source of truth. As we immerse ourselves in Scripture, we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth, illuminating our minds and transforming our lives.

Living in the truth also means standing firm in the face of falsehood and deception. In a world that often distorts and denies the truth, we are called to be beacons of light. We are called to speak truth into darkness, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ boldly, and to love others with genuine sincerity.

Let us hold fast to the truth that sets us free. Let us seek after it diligently, knowing that it is the path to abundant life in Christ. May our lives reflect the truth we have received, and may others be drawn to the freedom that only Jesus can offer.

“Your truth won’t set you free, But (THE TRUTH) of Jesus will set you free!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the truth of Your Word. Help us to seek after truth with all our hearts and minds. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may discern truth from falsehood and stand firm in Your promises. May our lives be a testimony to Your truth, and may others come to know the freedom that can only be found in Jesus. In His name, we pray. Amen.

Is Jesus the Lord and Savior of your life?

Pray this prayer and start a new life, or recommit to to Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I admit that I am not right with You, and I want to be right with You. I ask You to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I will be saved (Romans 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of my life. Thank You for saving me!
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

February 1st 2024 – Moments

“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.” (2 Kings 20:1)

What if God told you that you were going to die? People every day are informed by doctors and juries they have only years, months, days, or even moments left to live. Those could be moments of regret or moments of satisfaction… it all depends on what we ‘make’ of the moments God allots to us. Make? Yes, God has given to each one of us creativity, time, a sense of right and wrong, and free will. What we do with these raw materials is up to us. Most of us dole out the moments on frivolous, self-centered activities. Sometimes, it takes moments of shock to make us change course.

Do something for the Lord or do something for the world? The first is a path leading to satisfaction and the latter is a highway leading to regret. It has been said, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Life is much more than just a measure of our days. It is what we do for the Lord and that, my friend, will last forever. What if God told you that you were going to die? Well… He has.

“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,” (Hebrews 9:27)

What are you doing with your moments? Are they going to last?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Thank You for the moments You have given to me. Please forgive me for times when I have selfishly squandered those moments. Please give me the courage to make the most of the time and abilities You have given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 31st 2024 – Wells Without Water

“These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.” 2 Peter 2:17

In the book of 2 Peter, the apostle Peter is sharing the sad truth about false teachers. In the description above, He calls them wells without water. What a brilliant way to describe someone who pretends to have the Truth of God. Imagine as people come to hear this Truth but are disappointed because there is no real living water to drink from. All they find is an well that contains no water.

The Truth is that God desires to give us His living water and make our lives fruitful. In order to do this, He calls us to connect with Him through His Son Jesus. This is not simply a religious routine, it’s a life-changing relationship. Jesus described it this way…

”Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

As we spend time with Jesus in prayer,  reading His Word and fellowshipping with His people, we will find ourselves living fruitful lives. The reason is simple; we are visiting the deep life-giving well of the Lord Jesus Christ. His well is filled to overflowing, and He welcomes everyone to drink deep and thirst no more

“Without Jesus Christ, our life will be fruitless and wasted.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the refreshing water of life that is found in Jesus. God, You tell us that when we connect to this water, we will also have living waters coming from us. Fill my life to overflowing so that I would be a fruitful worker of the Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 30th 2024 – He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Matthew 13:9

A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. Jesus would often teach a moral Truth by connecting natural things to make incredible spiritual points. Too often; however, the people did not want to hear the Truth He brought. Jesus was fond of saying, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Obviously, God gave us ears for listening. Do we always? If we were honest with ourselves, we would have to say “no”.

Here are some things overheard from people leaving countless churches across this land. “The teaching was on point today” or “I just wasn’t feeling’ it today.”

Why do we go to church? Is it to grade the teacher? Is it to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching?  No – We go to church to hear from God.

The Apostle John wrote that the same Holy Spirit that instructs the teacher also instructs the Christian. The Bible tells us that scripture is God-breathed, and it is a discerner of the heart’s intentions which does not return void (doesn’t fail)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thingfor which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12

So, whose fault is it when we go to church, listen to a teaching from the Bible, and don’t receive? Here’s a hint: It’s not the teacher, it’s not the Bible and it’s not God. That’s right. It’s our own fault. We don’t hear because we don’t like the challenge.

We should never walk away from a Bible teaching church (no matter who the teacher is) without realizing a change or recognizing a step we need to take. Make it your personal commitment to find the life-challenge, the life lesson within each teaching, and apply it to your life. Share it with a friend or a family member. Ask them to hold you accountable for making that change.

“But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25

“We should be living the Bible (to our best ability) not just hearing the Bible.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. I know I am incapable of paying the debt for my sins. Thank You for providing Your Son, Jesus, to pay that debt. I am grateful that You delight in having a relationship with me. Lord, help me to apply Your Word in my daily life and live out a life of peace and faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 29th 2024 – Adtift

“For if you return to the LORD, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him.” 2 Chronicles 30:9

Imagine. There you are adrift on a life raft with the beach on the horizon. You watch as the land slowly moves away, leaving you alone. While most of us have never been in this scenario physically, we often experience it spiritually. As we walk through life, we feel as though the Lord has left us, leaving us alone, but in reality, it is not the Lord who has left. In the situation with the life boat, is it the land that has moved? No. The land is steadfast and cannot move and so it is with God. He remains the same yesterday, today and forever.

)“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8

In those times where we feel that God is far away, we should not believe the lie that God has rejected us. Instead, we should draw near to Him and rejoice in His loving-kindness. Our Father in Heaven desires a personal relationship with each of us. It’s in this relationship that we find strength, peace and hope. Our relationship with God is one founded on knowledge of His Word and communication through prayer These are not simply religious actions but our connection to the God of the universe. Draw close, my friend, and watch as the Lord draws close to you.

“When you feel God has drifted, it is not Him that moved, it is us”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful that You are the Rock that I can stand on and an ever present help in times of need. Lord, in those times I feel lost at sea, remind me of Your faithfulness and love. May Your Spirit lead me to draw close to You and trust in Your Word over my feelings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

January 28th 2024 – Extra! Extra! Have You Heard?

“And they said, “Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.” Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him.” Acts 10:22-23

In Acts chapter 10, we see the doors opening wide for all of humanity to hear the Gospel. Until this time, only a select few knew of the Good News about Jesus. That was about to change, drastically. The Good News presented and accepted by this group of gentiles would impact all of mankind. The world would never be the same.

Now that we have heard the Good News, we have the privilege to help others hear it. In Genesis chapter 4, Cain posed the question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The answer is a resounding ‘yes’. We are responsible for reaching this generation with the Good News that God loves them and died for their sins.

We should work together to reach the entire world.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You that because I asked You to forgive me, You have indeed forgiven me. There are still many people who have not accepted You as Lord and Savior. Lord, please give me a burden to reach people. Lord, I will join together with my brothers and sisters to reach the world. Help me to care about whether they come to You or not. January 27th 2024 – Jesus Prays For Us

“Who then will condemn us? No one, for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us. Romans 8:34

Imagine that your spending time with Jesus when all of a  sudden He turns to you and says, “Oh, by the way, satan has been asking for you by name.”

“Satan the devil!”

“Yeah. That’s right.”

That is what happened to Peter. He and the other disciples had just celebrated the Last Supper with Jesus when He dropped this revelation on them: “Tonight all of you will desert me. For the Scriptures say, ‘God will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ But after I have been raised from the dead, I will go ahead of you to Galilee and meet you there” Matthew 26:31–32

But Peter replied, “Even if everyone else deserts you, I will never desert you” verse 33

So Jesus essentially said, “Well, since you brought it up Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you ever knew Me. And listen to this Peter, Satan has been asking excessively that you would be taken out of the care and protection of God.”

The good news is that Jesus was praying for Peter. And have assurance that Jesus is praying for you also. Romans 8:34 says, “Who then will condemn us? No one, for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.”  Jesus is in our corner. He is interceding for you.

“If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Distance makes no difference with Jesus. He is praying for you and me.”

If it were not for the prayers of Jesus, I personally wouldn’t stand a chance. Neither would you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise you and am so greatful that You are personally pray for me. I will praise You in all of the circumstances that I face. Knowing that You only want the best for me. When the enemy creeps into my life with temptation, You always provide a way for me to escape it, to change directions. All I need to do is choose You Lord and turn from my sinful ways. I love you, In Your’ precious name, Amen.

Trying to face a life without Jesus will get very overwhelming.  If you do not know Him personally, I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. Jesus loves us and wants to help us through the storms. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here 4 Simple Steps to Jesus
