April 8th 2018 – Look To Jesus

“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.” (Hebrews 1:3)

There is just something about the name of Jesus!  His Name is the most beautiful of all names.  This verse shows us that Jesus radiates God’s very glory, and He expresses the very character of the Father.  Jesus said that he who has seen Him has seen the Father.  He and His Father are one.

The reason this is so important is that many times we do not fully understand God, because we have never seen Him.  But when we look into the Gospels and we read about Jesus, He shows us who God the Father is.  You see, Jesus was a healer, and a provider.  He let John lay His head on His chest.  Jesus is the One that calmed the storms and raised the dead.  He is the One who promised those that believe in Him that we will have eternal life.

When we understand that to look at Jesus is to see the Father, we know that the Father will heal us, and the Father will calm the storms in our lives.  He will provide for our needs, and He wants us to lay our heads near His heart and rest in Him.  You see, the Father loves us just like Jesus does.  The Father and Jesus are one, and the great love that Jesus showed by going to the cross to die for you and me is the same love that the Father in heaven has for us.

That is why Jesus said not to pray to Him, but to pray to our Father in heaven in His Name, and He will answer us.  So today, get to know the Father.  He loves you and cares for you.  To know Him is to know life.  So enjoy His presence in your life each and every day!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise You in all circumstances Lord, Thank You for your overwhelming love that You have for me. I want to know my Father better and see all that my Father is, and the place that He wants to take in my life. Please help me share who You are to everyone. I pray this in Jesus’ glorious name, Amen.

April 7th 2018 – No More Hiding

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.(Romans 3:23)

We all fall short. This is true, but this is no excuse for us to continue in sin.

Jesus died for our sins so that we wouldn’t have to take the penalty for them (John 3:16); and through confession and repentance, we can receive forgiveness and salvation. But more importantly, Jesus died so that we’d learn how to say no to our sins. (Titus 2:11-12). Jesus also left us the Holy Spirit who gives us power to refrain from sin (Galatians 5:16-23).

Making an excuse for our sin will never excuse us from the judgement of God; it’s only self-deception.

“For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Hebrews 10:26)

No more hiding

The good news is that God’s grace assures us that we can be the kind of people who are happy to own our shortcomings, the kind of people who have stopped hiding behind excuses.

As ugly as our sin can get, grace allows us to abandon excuses because the promise of forgiveness and cleansing lies on the other side of confession. Every confession brings sin out of hiding and into the light (John 3:19–21). And God has promised that when we bring sin into the light “we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1).

“God really does have grace to meet every failure, but receiving that grace starts by confessing the sin, then seeking Jesus’ power to turn from it”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I need your help, my life has become unmanageable again because of sin. Help me to stop making excuses for my sin. Help me to examine myself and stop  justifying my actions. Help me to stop be judgemental and appear self-righteous. Help me hear You Lord, and not my excuses. Help me realize they are the lies the enemy that he uses to steal my peace, my happyness and dreams and  will only lead to death. Help me forgive the ones that love me and not take offense to their encouragement. In Jesus’s name Amen.

April 6th 2018 – Mountains

“As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:36-37 )

I have had the opportunity to speak with and pray for those who are in the midst of monumental life changing challenges. I also have endured such events in my life. Such as loss of a job, loss of a love, loss of a best friend, abuse as a child, divorce or even terminal illness. Whatever it is, for those going through it, it seems to be a Mount Everest of a challenge. One thing I’ve learned is that those who dare to take on mountains often triumph while those who survey the towering heights and presume defeat… buckle. Those colossal cliffs teach the deepest lessons – the kind we never forget.

(Genesis 22:8) “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

From the stable to sacrifice, Jesus knew His mountain. Awaiting Him at the top were false accusation, humiliation, torture, pain, suffering and death on a cross. For us, our Savior set His eyes on the problem and pressed forward. Jesus made the greatest climb to Calvary.

Willingly, Jesus took that hill. He knew what was waiting, and He went. It was His joy to do so. He did it to purchase you and change your destiny. Because Jesus made His ascent, we can climb our mountains with victory in hand. The next time you see a mountain looming in the distance, remember, you’re a conqueror. With Jesus, you will take that hill.

” Dear Problem, My God Is Bigger! – Don’t climb your mountains without Jesus.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and praise you Lord in all circumstances. Thank You for loving me first. It is through You that I do not have to fear the difficulties of this world and that I have everything I need for the challenges of life. Please forgive me for times when I’ve stalled in the face of trials instead of relying on You. I love You Jesus and nothing will ever change that! In Your precious name, Amen.

April 5th 2018 – Fractured Clay Jars

“For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So then death is working in us, but life in you.” (2 Corinthians 4:11-12)

Whether they knew it or not, the church of Corinth was blessed because of Paul’s sufferings. The battles endured and hardships faced were all allowed by God so that Paul would be a great witness to the world. During this time in church history, there was a lot of suffering taking place, and as a result of that suffering, the Word of God was spread to more and more people. In fact, this continues today.

I believe we all could list out some areas where we suffered because of Christ. It may not be to the extent that Paul suffered, but trials are a part of the Christian life. That may not sound so great but think of it this way, when you’re going through a trial, someone else is watching you and can be blessed through your response. The Bible says we are like fractured jars of clay, or “cracked jars”. The more suffering and trials hit, the more we seem to crack.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)

The more we crack, the more Jesus is seen inside of us. God will use every situation in your life for good so rejoice in the hard times and look for those ways to shine… like a cracked jar with a brilliant light inside.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, While it may be hard, I want to thank You for my times of suffering. I know that each of these moments is being used to make me more like Jesus. Give me the strength and wisdom needed to be a witness for You even in times of suffering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

April 4th 2018 – It’s a Daily Battle

“These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were mighty men of valor, famous men, and heads of their fathers’ houses.” (Chronicles 5:24)

We are in a battle. It’s all around us. Your family, friends, Pastor and church are in the battle. The enemy of your soul is out to divide and destroy, and if you allow your guard to drop, you will fall victim to his perilous plans. Satan is not stupid. He is going to go after those on the fringe of fellowship. He goes after the ones that choose to seperate to be alone. And at that point, like a lion that picks off the young, the sick and the weak, he is watching to see who wanders outside the flock. Be mindful of yourself, your family and friends. Is someone lagging behind? Now is the time to encourage them to get back into the flock. Are you wandering? I tell you the truth, you are in danger of being picked off. Don’t let that happen! Ask the Lord for protection from the enemy and his scheme’s.

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.” (James 4:7-8)

“We are in a battle over our souls and the souls of those we love and care about.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Lord, give me the wisdom and discernment to recognize when I have dropped my guard. Help me to encourage my family, friends and co-workers in the midst of trouble. When the battles come, help me to find rest and protection in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

April 3rd 2018 – Shout It Out

“Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:45-46)

When Jesus was on the cross, in God’s eyes the whole world was on that cross also.  The sin of Adam was laid upon Jesus and He became sin for us.  Some people have a hard time receiving this but look at what it says “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:2)

Jesus, Who knew no sin, He never sinned once in His 30 plus years upon this earth, became the sin sacrifice for all of us.  This gift that God gave us is so powerful that if a person chooses not to accept it, it will separate them from God for all eternity.  At the moment that Jesus cried out these heart wrenching words all of creation shut down.  The world got darkened as they saw the Son of God die on that cross.

At that very moment when Jesus cried out, My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me? Jesus became my sin substitute.  He took all of my sin, my shame, my hell, He took everything, once and for all and placed it upon Himself.  Or, we can say that God put it all on Him for us.

Jesus became the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.  He became the curse so that I don’t have to be cursed in life.  He became sin so I don’t have to live in sin.  He became fear so that I don’t have to live in torment.  He became sickness so I can be healed.  He became the second Adam so that I can become a very son of God.

This is so amazing that we need to shout it to the whole world.  “World, God loves you and forgives you!”  He forgave me and I know that He will do the same for anyone that will receive it.

“Go out and share the Good News of the Gospel and give to others what God has given to us.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for the Good News. Jesus I thank you that you took all my bad so I can have good. Because of what You did on the cross, I am forgiven and I am set free. I don’t want to ever live my life where I am not continually greatful for your sacrifice for me. I am not deserving, I can’t ever repay you, but I can forever Love you and I can share your story, share what You did for someone like me.

Forgive me for any pain that I caused you with my disobedience. Thank you for the people in my life that love me. Thank you for the disasters in my life, I thank you, because that is where I first found You. You were there to help me pick up the pieces of a shattered life and make something beautiful out of the wreckage. You are so good to me. I love you.. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have never experienced living in God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Please do not wait for the day that you wake up and realize that your life is a train wreck. I did and only because I insisted on doing everything on my own, my way. Ask Jesus into your life. He will guide you, and help you through the hard times and be the greatest and best friend you ever have.

April 2nd 2018 – The Complete Truth

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.”  (Acts 20:26-27)

It sometimes can be difficult to tell the complete truth. I think of doctors who run a series of tests and find an abnormality, maybe a spot, a lump or something else. They want to tell their patients that everything is okay. But they have to tell the truth so they can prescribe a course of treatment.

In the Old Testament book of Daniel, we read of a time when Daniel had to reveal the hard truth to King Nebuchadnezzar. He said, “King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper” (Daniel 4:27). In other words, “Judgment is coming, but there is still hope if you will repent.”

In the same way, as Christians we have to declare the whole counsel of God. The apostle Paul told the elders of the Ephesian church, “I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault, for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know” (Acts 20:26–27). Yet sometimes we edit out things we are uncomfortable with, like God’s coming judgment and Hell.

Yesterday Churches around the world spoke about the resurrection of Jesus Christ,  many of their messages said something like, “Believe in Jesus, and He will make you a happier person and bring you fulfillment.” “Choose Jesus and you will discover joy and contentment in your life.” But was the whole truth shared? How many Easter messages actually shared “What happens if you don’t choose to believe in Jesus?”

The church and the church body needs to share the complete truth. Not with smiles on our faces; we say it with tears in our eyes. It isn’t easy to tell someone, “The Bible says there is a judgment, and if we don’t believe in Jesus Christ, there actually is a place called Hell.”

“We must tell the complete truth!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life.. Purify my heart with Your complete truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. Help me Lord to share the truth with out of love, may it never  be perceived as arrogance. Open their ears to your message of salvation. I love You Lord and may I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

April 1st 2018 – Risen

“For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.” (Romans 11:30-32)

God offers all of mankind His mercy. Who are we to put limits on His mercy? When we choose not to minister the Gospel to another, we do just that. The definition of mercy is to not receive what you deserve. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us remember that in no way did we deserve God’s merciful action. By no means did we merit Jesus’ suffering at the hands of the unrighteous and that He would bear the tremendous weight of our own sin on that cross. Through no power of our own, these events unfolded through the benevolent, merciful and loving Father which many want to push away. Let us commit ourselves to making sure that everyone hears God’s message of mercy to the broken. May all mankind hear the Gospel and make their choice. Let’s brace ourselves for our God given duties and make sure that the whole world hears.

“God is a loving and merciful God.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for being my God of mercy. I believe that Jesus is alive and accept Him as Lord of my life. May I live only for You. Purify my heart with Your Truth and guide me in the way of Your will for my life. May I always do what is pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

March 31st 2018 – A God of Love

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

What a contrast the love of God is to the so-called “love” of our culture.

Our world loves you when you are young and beautiful; God still loves you when you are old and not so attractive.

Our world loves you when you are famous and a celebrity; God loves still you when you are unknown and a complete nobody.

Our world loves you when you are rich and powerful; God still loves you when you are penniless and weak.

Our world loves the extraordinary. God still loves the ordinary. People like you and me.

And God has demonstrated this love for us in a tangible way. Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13)

“Love will find a way. A lack of love will find an excuse. It has no limits”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love. Because of Your love for me, I have forgiveness of sins and hope of heaven. Father, fill me with Your Spirit and help me to love others like You love me. Make me more like Jesus so that I can share Your grace and mercy with those around me. Use me today to show love. I praise You for the amazing love, Help me to grasp this love so that I will be equipped to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

March 30th 2018 – Following Before Leading

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan” (Proverbs 29:2)

I am convinced that there is really no such thing as the gift of leadership. Rather, there are many gifts that can be used to lead people, whether it is leading as a president or leading people in their walk with the Lord.

The true key to leadership though is knowing who your leader really is. As people come and go, the Lord has promised to be by your side and never forsake you. We are all called to follow, just as Christ called his first disciples to follow Him. And as we follow God, we become leaders of men… or fishers of men, depending on your choice of profession.

Leadership is something we become as followers of God and Christ. It is a lifelong process of learning and growing. The good news is that we already have all we need to follow before we can lead!

() “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, (A)and to still another the interpretation of tongues. (B) All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”

(1 Corinthians 12:20) “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”

What are your spiritual gifts? If you are unsure, consider asking your friends or you can take an assessment test online..

What contributions do you feel you can make to the Body of Christ? Consider sharing with someone who can keep you accountable with your growth in development of your gifts… like any muscle in your body, gifts can atrophy if not used regularly.

The body of Christ is not merely one part or another. Do you have a group of friends that exhibit different gifts than yourself and are there areas where you can exercise these gifts for the building of the body?

Following God can be hard at times. Turbulence is common in our walks with God. God promises each believer a gift of the Spirit, though the gift and quantity of gifts may differ. We all have at least one gift to be used for the building of the Body of Christ. Be encouraged that God has given you all the tools you need to be a leader in Christ!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You are such a great leader, please continue to draw me close and not only guide me but may I continue to grow in the spirit of a leader! I pray to be humbled by the spirit so that I never forget to always follow You as I am leading others closer to meet You. I thank you for always showing up when I need your instruction. May they see Your love and wisdom flow in me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Seeking Jesus in your life?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.
