The Gideons International (www.gideons.org) is an evangelical Christian, non-denominational, non-profit organization founded in 1899. Since 1908, its primary mission has been to distribute free Bibles globally. They currently provide Bibles in over 100 languages across more than 200 countries and territories. Their efforts include placing Bibles in motel rooms, nursing homes, jails, and prisons, as well as distributing them to students, medical staff, and military personnel. The organization distributes various editions, including complete King James Version Bibles and those containing only the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. From 1908 to 2015, they distributed over 2 billion scriptures and continue to distribute over 1 million Bibles every four days.

In collaboration, The Gideons International and Faith Comes by Hearing have developed a free Bible App. This App features popular translations of the Bible in over 1,000 languages, allowing users to read or listen to versions they may already know.

  • Some versions feature dramatic readings with sound effects and background music.
  • English versions include the English Standard Version Gideons Drama, King James Version, and King James Version Drama.

Basic Instructions for Using the App:

  • App Download: After downloading, select a language for the app menus. This choice does not limit Bible selections in other languages.
  • Changing the App Menu Language: Tap the three horizontal bars in the upper left, go to “Settings,” and select “DISPLAY Language” to choose your preferred menu language.
  • Selecting Bibles in Different Languages: In the menu, tap “Downloads,” then “Download More Bibles >” to choose languages or versions and download Bibles.
  • Downloading for Offline Use: Follow similar steps to select and download specific books of the Bible for offline access.
  • Finding a Specific Book, Chapter, or Verse: Tap the top center of the screen to navigate to the desired book or chapter.
  • Using the Search Feature: Access the search option from the menu to find specific verses, words, or themes.
  • Listening to the Bible: Tap the play button at the bottom of the screen to listen to the text displayed. You can also download audio chapters for offline listening.
