“Remember, O LORD, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach!” (Lamentations  5:1)

Prayer is something often spoken about in church and yet, it is seldom practiced on a regular basis. Some of this may be due to the misunderstanding of what prayer is and what it is not. When we come to the Lord in prayer, He desires that we come as the broken people we are. He desires that we bring our cares, our worries, our pains and suffering to Him because He loves us.

(1 Peter 5:6-7) “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

We don’t need to pretend with God. He knows our hearts and understands our weaknesses. When we come in honest conversation with Him, we can find peace and joy in that time of fellowship. God never meant for you to carry the weight of your life. It’s too much for any of us. Instead, He says to bring it to Him so that He can carry it for us. So when we come in prayer, we can come in joyful surrender knowing that God loves us and that He has our life in His hands.

When the burdens of life overwhelm you, take them to God in prayer.

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for the blessing of prayer. I come to You with nothing but empty hands and a heart that desires more of You. Please Lord, take my life and do with it as you please. I trust You and desire to glorify Your name in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Knowledge is a powerful thing. With knowledge we have the ability to create buildings, machines and cure diseases. Knowledge helps us understand the universe around us and when put to action, knowledge can produce countless results, both good and bad. Yet, there is a specific knowledge that, when acted upon, brings eternal life. This is the knowledge of the Gospel.

Many scholars throughout history have examined the bible and can understand the words on the page yet few have actually experienced the life-changing effect of those words. The Gospel is more than just a story; it is the power of God for our salvation. The truth of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection can lead us into a relationship with God or can condemn us. It depends on what we do with it. God’s powerful, life-changing grace rests on the pages of scripture and calls for us to trust it. When we do, we will truly experience the amazing grace so often sung about. This grace brings peace to the soul and hope for the future. Do you know that grace?

In order to experience the power of Christ, we must first trust Him.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your offer of grace. Lord forgive me of my sins and make me new. I believe in what Jesus has done on my behalf and trust in His death and resurrection for my salvation. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I will be strengthened to live for You. In Jesus name, Amen

“After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines.” (1 Chronicles 18:1)

Jesus promised that there would be trials and trouble for those who follow Him. Paul referred to Christians as “Soldiers of Christ”. Because Satan has set himself against the Lord, it stands to reason that as a soldier of Christ, you are in the battle. You cannot be active in the battle and be seated on the sidelines. There are no couches on the front lines; only foxholes and fighters are found there.

David was not hiding and asking God to keep him safe. He understood there were battles in his life. Instead, David was praying and stepping out in faith. God wants to keep us and give us the victory. Sometimes, we think the worst thing that could happen is to fail. In Christianity, the worst thing is failing to try. God has declared victory in your life. Don’t argue with God about it…live it! Be victorious.

A life of faith is a battle.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for Your Word and the desire to use me as a vessel to bless others. Lord, empower me with boldness to put Your Kingdom first. I don’t want to be a spectator in the battle. I want to see lives changed for Your glory. Help me to step out and be a kingdom builder. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation.” (2 Corinthians 7:4)

It’s hard to think of a trial as a good thing, but in 2 Corinthians 7, Paul indicates that we can find joy in our trials. How can this be? After all, trials are painful. Trials may be painful, but they are also great opportunities to see how God has changed our lives. Remember in school when you took a test and knew the material? You looked forward to it. It was a chance to exercise what you were learning. The same is true in our faith. We can see what we are learning through our trials.

Another joyful purpose of a trial is to learn from it. God will use difficult situations to teach us about ourselves or about other people. We can learn how to respond in a situation or how not to respond. Sometimes when we don’t learn the lesson, we repeat the trial. We waste time, energy and effort by not ‘getting it’. In our relationships, we often think we should part ways at the first sign of conflict. When we do this, we are responding carnally or unspiritually and miss out on a great opportunity to love one another. If every time you have conflict you flee, you will never develop love and maturity in your Christian life; therefore, leading to trouble in your church relationships, in your marriage and your friendships. Use each trial that comes your way to grow in Christ. As you grow through them, you will be able to rejoice in tribulation because; it will draw you closer to God.

Trials can be our chance to show what we know or what we have learned.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love and praise You. Thank You for the difficulties in my life. While they are not easy to walk through, I know that they are being used to teach me new things. Help me to depend on You during these times and to learn the lessons You have for me, the first time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you dont have Jesus in your life, ask Him into your heart. His spirit will guide you better the the finest tutor. This way you can pass the ultimate test.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” (1 John 1:8-10)

We tend to think about grace pouring down over us as a one time event. If it was a one time event, we are in trouble. You see the grace of God is something that we need every day. We are told that the mercy of the Lord endures forever. That means it will never grow too small or be worn out. As we look at the life of Peter, we see a man who fell and then got up. There is a lesson in that for us. We often count ourselves out when the Lord has not counted us out. There is no one beyond the reach of His grace. If this includes Peter and his denials, it includes us and our misbehaviors. Though we struggle and though we sometimes fail, we can live in this knowledge. We have 24/7 access to His love and forgiveness. We live in the grip of His grace.

(Isaiah 1:18) “Come now, and let us reason together,” says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

As followers of Jesus, we can be forgiven of all our mistakes.

Prayer:

Lord, Thank You for Your grace, and may I run to Your throne of grace often. Please forgive me of every thing that hinders me in running the race. I pray this in Jesus precious name, Amen

Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)

How timely it is to stop and consider this verse today. As we have a new year starting, in like manner we have a fresh new start in our life for the Lord. What does the year hold for you? Well I can assure you that the Lord has some awesome things prepared for each of us individually and as well in the church body. This past year the Lord did some incredible things and I look forward to a new year filled with family and friends coming to know the Lord. We will see multitudes moved forward in the spiritual journey from discovery to discipleship. If you have not read the bible in its entirety, I challenage you to. We are seing almost on a daily basis the bible unfold and proficiency revealed right before our eyes. I challenged mysely to read the Bible twice this year, I was able to accomplish three times… I have never felt as close to the Lord as I do now.

What an adventure! All made possible by a fresh start… Thanks Lord for new beginnings!

Jesus makes all things new… including you.

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You for fresh start and new beginnings. What an incredible day this is with a fresh year’s potential stretched out before me. I want to be found faithful this year in each and every opportunity You bring to me. I also aske  that my new years resolutions are not empty promises to myself that I dont accomplish. . I will be praying on a daily basis for you to hold me accountable,ONE DAY AT A TIME. You are the best coach ever. I love you so much. Thank You, Lord, for new beginnings. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Ask Jesus into your heart this fresh new year.

My prayer is that we would not let our hearts stay hardened and that we would never forget that we are not our own gardener. There is a Gardener, there is a Vine, and we are the branches that get to see the fruit burst forth from us. Jesus loves each of us and has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him forever. Please considder today asking Him into you life. “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:12)

Can you imagine the chaos that would occur if your body decided to attack itself? What if your arm was mad at your foot for not saying “hi” in the hallway, or your liver decided to quit simply because it was jealous of the mouth? While it may seem ridiculous to imagine, this sad scenario now occurs every week in churches all over the world. The body of Christ, formed to demonstrate the love and forgiveness of Jesus, turns on itself out of selfishness and pride. Friend, it doesn’t need to be this way, and it shouldn’t be this way. Paul writes…

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13)

This chapter is dedicated to promoting love as the ultimate spiritual fruit. Do you prophesy and understand great mysteries? Great, but do you love? Are you able to speak with tongues of angels? Awesome, but do you love? You see, no matter what gift we are given, if we are not acting in love towards one another, we are nothing more than just religious noise. Instead of useless noise, let’s sing out a sweet song of forgiveness and love. That is a tune sure to impact the world for Christ.

No matter how gifted we are or what our giftings are, if we don’t have love, we are just religious noise.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the spiritual gifts You have given me and those around me. Father, in this new year help us to use those gifts for Your glory and not our own selfish gain. Teach us to love like You love. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that our love for one another will cause the world to take notice and turn to You. In Jesus name, Amen.

“Let all that you do be done with love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14)

In the verse above, we find such a simple command. Simply put, we are to do everything with love. While this may appear simple in direction, it’s not simple in action. Because we are broken vessels in an evil world, it can be difficult to do everything with love. After all, our first reaction is to preserve ourselves. Our emotions, our lives, our stuff; these are the things we strive to maintain at all cost… and love demands we lose them for the sake of others.

(Galatians 2:20) “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

As Christians, we are no longer slaves to ourselves. We have been freed to love others just as Christ loved us. He is our great example as well as our strength. We cannot love rightly on our own. We must depend on Jesus. So next time your co-worker causes you to see red, look to the cross of Christ and the blood that He shed for you. He died for us when we didn’t deserve it so now we can forgive others even when they don’t deserve it.

You’re never really living until you give your life away and start to love.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am so grateful for Your love and grace. Because You loved me, I am able to love others in every circumstance. Give me strength to walk in obedient love and to look for opportunities to care for others around me. As Your love increases in me, may my selfishness decrease. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
