“But He needed to go through Samaria.” (John 4:4)

In John 4, we see our Lord travel through Samaria. To us this may not mean much, but in that time the hatred between Jews and Samaritans was legendary. Despite the cultural issues around Him, Jesus continues through this land and the Bible says it was a “need.” What could be so important that Jesus had to go through Samaria? Why would Jesus walk through hostile territory? Simple, there was a woman in Samaria who was burdened with sin and shame and Jesus had the answer to her problem. This should be our hearts desire – to be like Jesus. We should be willing to face possible hardship in order to reach others with the Gospel & God’s Living Water.

(Matthew 28:19-20) “‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”

The action of sharing our faith is not an option for those who claim Jesus as Lord. We are told in Matthew 28 to “go” and there is no exception found in that verse. The ultimate goal of any believer is to reproduce other believers and as we do, we will see this world changed one soul at a time. Pray today that God would bring someone to you who you can share His love with. It may seem like an impossible task, but as you step out in obedience, God will take you where you need to go to share with someone who needs to hear.

“Sharing your faith is not an option, it is a command. My life was changed beyond measure because a dear friend followed your command in obedience to “Go Home!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love and praise You. Thank You for forgiveness and grace. Lord, help me not to simply admire Your goodness but to share it with a world in need. Give me opportunities to share with my family, friends and others around me today.Give me Your words and guide me by Your Spirit. Thank You for my dear friend that shared Your Word, and showed me, Your love. In Jesus holy and precious name, Amen.

“Woe to those who devise iniquity, and work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. They covet fields and take them by violence, Also houses, and seize them. So they oppress a man and his house, a man and his inheritance.” (Micah 1:1-2)

In the verse above, we see those in power taking advantage of the people. (Sound familiar?)  The world believes that it is acceptable to take advantage of others for gain of position or authority. Are you are a leader government, or in the workplace? Do you take advantage of the system to benefit yourself? Let’s make this more personal. Do you take advantage of your family, friends or co-workers for your benefit? When we get to know a person, we know how to set them off or manipulate them for what we want. That is ungodly and God does not bless the unbiblical practices of deception.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”Even in times when it seems there is no other option but to bend the truth for your benefit, God provides a way out. Taking responsibility for your actions is an important characteristic of a Godly disciple. God will always honor you when you take responsibility for your mistakes, even when it’s difficult. Live out the Biblical model that God entrusted to you in regards to your relationships even when it doesn’t make sense.

In the end, it comes down to your making a decision about Jesus. How far will you follow Jesus in your relationships? Until it gets inconvenient – uncomfortable – what about when it becomes painful? Are you willing to follow the Biblical model all the way? What will you decide? Gain for yourself or lay your life down for the sake of the Gospel?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for continuing to do a work in my life. You have called me to live a disciple’s life, and I choose to honor You in living out the model You have set before me. Lord, when things get tough and I mess up, empower me with courage and strength to live out Your Truth and encourage others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Invitation:

Don’t be deceived by the world. You will continue to be blinded and not see the truth until you have Jesus in your life?

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32)

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

Remembering where you came from and where you are going makes up your individual, one-of-a-kind testimony. There is power in the testimony of your life. Revelation 12 talks about believers overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. So, what if your past does not include the seedier things of life? Well, the Bible is clear that we we were all on a death row sentence. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Through His grace and the faith-gift of God, He saves us. Once saved you are a child of God – a priest and a king. There are two people in the Bible who are called both a priest and king – Jesus and you. Now, you are saved and will spend eternity with God.

In a world that is wracked with fear and uncertainty, people need to hear your testimony. Share it and talk about it. Share not in a prideful or bragging way, but out of the joy of your heart. Your testimony could be the very thing that leads someone else to come to Jesus. It might be what they have been waiting for.

“Remember where you came from, who you are and where you are going.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and Praise You in all circumstances. Thank You for the gift of Your Son. I am so grateful for the grace and mercy You have given me. Lord, I want to be a vessel used to glorify Your name. Give me the boldness to share my testimony without fear and uncertainty. Give me the spirit of humility so that I may be used to minister in the lives of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“[Love] does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.” (1 Corinthians 13:6)

Many years ago a popular Christian group wrote a song titled, “Love is a Verb.” there is much truth in the lyrics of the song. Love is not simply a feeling or intellectual process but an active expression. This view of love seen in scripture is purposeful and benevolent. It actively engages others, thinking of them above ourselves. Biblical love is not hindered by anything but seeks with passion to be shared with anyone and everyone.

How is this possible? How can we even begin to love in a way that looks for opportunities rather than excuses? Simply put, we plug into the source of love. The God of all creation left everything in heaven for you and me. He stepped from the throne of God and wrapped Himself in our weak flesh in order to die on our behalf. That kind of love is life changing. That kind of love will fuel our lives so that we too can love like our Savior. Today, seek out an opportunity to love. Whether it’s a kind word, act of service or a merciful response, let’s love like Jesus. That kind of love will never be stopped – no matter how you spell it.

“Love will find a way. A lack of love will find an excuse.”

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the amazing love You have shown me. Help me to grasp this love so that I will be equipped to love others in the same way. Strip me of any excuses and use me to reach others with the love of Jesus. In His name, Amen.

“For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-4 )

No man has ever been a better example of righteous living than Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect, sinless life. He was giving, loving, caring, serving and passionate about saving people. He was selfless in every action and relentless in pursuit of His goal. In John 15:13 Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” When you place the wants and needs of others before your own wants and needs you lay down your life for them. Serving others is serving God. We should be following Jesus’ example. Is that example too lofty for us? No, friend, it is not! Once you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He starts His work in you. Through the power of the Spirit, you can rise above the flesh. You can be the example of Jesus in the lives of everyone around you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your selfless gift of dying for my sins. Please give me Your love and passion for people. Help me to place the wants and needs of others before my own. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can show the love of Jesus to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified;” (Romans 2:13)

Having knowledge of Jesus as your Savior always changes your actions. People who have no fruit (tangible evidence of faith) in their life, the ones who fall back on the fact that they repeated some words in a prayer should be very concerned. It’s interesting to note that people who wonder about their eternal security are usually the ones who do not need to, and those that don’t wonder at all, should be the ones concerned. In Luke chapter 13, Jesus shares a parable about a tree that does not bear fruit. The owner of the vineyard instructs the keeper to cut down the tree, but the keeper asks for one more year in order to fertilize it; then if the tree does not bear fruit he will cut it down. As Christians, we should be bearing fruit with no excuses. We should be ‘doing’ the things that the Bible tells us to be doing.

(James 1:22-25) “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”

What do you do with this? Do you set aside God’s grace to earn your salvation by works? Absolutely not! Good works should be manifested in your life because you are saved! If you call yourself a heart surgeon, but you never perform heart surgery, are you really a heart surgeon? If you are a Christian and you don’t do any of the things that Christians should do; you don’t go to church, you don’t serve, you don’t give, you don’t study the Bible, you don’t tell others about Jesus, are you really living as a Christian?

Prayer:

Dear Father, We love and praise You in all circumstances. Thank You that my salvation is not dependent on my being good enough to earn it. Thank You that because of Your love for me, Jesus bore the burden of my failures and sins. Thank You that salvation is by grace through faith… just calling out to Jesus to put my trust in Him. Please forgive me for not doing things that I should be doing as a follower of Jesus. Help me to be a ‘doer’ of Your Word. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

“As it is written: ‘For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:36-37)

I have had the opportunity to speak with and pray for those who are in the midst of monumental life changing challenges. It might be unemployment, eviction, addiction, separation, divorce or even death. Whatever it is, for those going through it, it seems to be a Mount Everest of a challenge. One thing I’ve noticed is that those who dare to take on mountains often triumph while those who survey the towering heights and presume defeat… buckle. Colossal cliffs teach the deepest lessons – the kind you never forget.

(Genesis 22:8) “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

From the stable to sacrifice, Jesus knew His mountain. Awaiting Him at the top were false accusation, humiliation, torture, pain, suffering and death on a cross. For us, our Savior set His jaw and pressed forward. Jesus made the greatest climb to Calvary.

Willingly, Jesus took that hill. He knew what was waiting, and He went. It was His joy to do so. He did it to purchase you and change your destiny. Because Jesus made His ascent, we can climb our mountains with victory in hand. The next time you see a mountain looming in the distance, remember, you’re a conqueror. With Jesus, you will take that hill.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We love You and praise you Lord in all circumstances. Thank You for loving me first. It is through You that I do not have to fear the difficulties of this world and that I have everything I need for the challenges of life. Please forgive me for times when I’ve stalled in the face of trials instead of relying on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“For I am like those who gather summer fruits, like those who glean vintage grapes; there is no cluster to eat of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.” (Micah 7:1)

Each of us looks for something to satisfy our souls. In fact, companies and advertising agencies know this and have set out to convince you they have what you desire. The truth is that after all the colorful ads and convincing sales tactics, the product is temporary and will leave you right where you started – empty. The good news is that there is someone who loves us and what He offers will never fade away.

(Micah 7:7) “Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.”

You see, this world will offer you everything under the sun but what it cannot offer is lasting hope, forgiveness of sins and an abundant life both now and forever. This only comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. He alone hung on the cross so that we could be freed of our sin. He alone rose from the grave, defeating death and securing our eternity. He alone can satisfy our soul. Like Micah, if you are searching for “fruit which my soul desires” then look no further than Jesus. Nothing on this earth can even compare to Him.

“We will not find solace for our emptiness from the world no matter how much we look.”

Prayer:

Dear Father, I am tired of looking to this world for satisfaction. Lord, I desire to know the fulfillment that comes from a relationship with Jesus. Father, forgive me of my sins and wash me clean of all unrighteousness. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to seek You first above all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
