“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.” (Proverbs 1:7)

When you are building a house, the most important element is the foundation. If you build on a foundation that is moving or unstable, no matter how secure you create everything else, it will eventually fall apart. The same is true with wisdom and knowledge. The Bible tells us that the beginning (or foundation) of knowledge is found in fearing the Lord.

This “fear of the Lord” can also be understood as a reverence for His authority. It can also translate to a trust in His Word and His commands. When I trust the Lord and believe that what He says is true, then I will build my life on something unmovable. Of course, if I dismiss His Word and rely on my thoughts or feelings, then I am building my life on something that is unstable. The good news is that God can take our lives (no matter how bad the foundation) and place them on The Foundation – Jesus Christ. As we trust in Christ, we will find our life is more stable, and we are not so quick to topple under the weight of this world. Instead, we have a fresh joy and peace that comes with a secure foundation.

“The foundation of wisdom for all believers comes from having a fear and reverence for the Lord.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I often build my life on my emotions or limited understanding. Help me to walk in a healthy reverence for You and trust in Your Word. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I will be ready to deal with life and live victoriously through Jesus. Also Lord, Thank you for our Mothers and their wisdom. Please stay close to the sons and daughters that no longer have their mothers alive… may they feel You love and presence. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

“Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. They built as far as the Tower of the Hundred, and consecrated it, then as far as the Tower of Hananel” (Nehemiah 3:1)

In the book of Nehemiah, we see the people of Israel joining together to rebuild the walls around Jerusalem. Stone by stone, each wall and gate is constructed to keep the bad out and the good in. The same should be true in our own life, because once you see something or hear something, it is impossible to take it out. If you are a parent, you are responsible for guarding your kid’s gates. As they get older, help them make good decisions and discourage bad ones.

In the world today, its all about who has the biggest most mighty weapons and technology. Don’t look for the newest greatest things for warfare, they are great with technology but not with Gods wisdom. God has given us great wisdom so that we can go to the ancient things for modern problems. Remember that the battlefield often starts in our minds.

(2 Corinthians 10:4-5) “We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”

The key to guarding our hearts and minds is to fill our hearts and minds with the things of God. Reading God’s Word and meditating on the Truths of Scripture will help protect us from evil. Time in prayer for our lives and the lives of our family will direct our paths. Also, we must be actively engaged by saying no to certain music, television, movies, games or books that could draw our hearts away from Christ. It’s not about legalism; it’s about building the walls of protection and guarding the gates for God’s glory.

“As people created in the image of God, we can and should control what we read, listen to, think and say.”

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the guidance You give in Your Word. Give me the wisdom and power to build the walls and guard the gates of my heart and mind. Fill me with Your Spirit. Help me teach others about your goodness and turn them away from evil. May they turm from hate and destruction to experiencing forgiveness and Love. In Jesus’ name Amen.

“And I know such a man–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows– how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” (2 Corinthians 12:3-4)

Do you believe in Heaven? Is it a real place for you? Those may seem like an odd questions, but our belief in Heaven changes the way we look at everything in life. The way we view time changes because we realize that one day we will be without time and therefore, we use every moment we have for eternal things. The way we view suffering changes because we understand that it is nothing to be compared to the glories of Heaven that await each believer. We view death with earnestness but, we do not fear because we know that death is simply the doorway to our Heavenly home.

Here’s the second question, “How do we make Heaven real in our life?” This one is simple. Read the Bible and believe in what God has told us about Heaven. It speaks of streets of gold, gates of pearls & the removal of all pain, yet the most exciting thing about Heaven is the presence of Jesus Himself. He will dwell with us forever. What a glorious reality. If you allow that Truth to sink into your heart, it will change your life forever.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the promise of Heaven. Your Word tells us about an amazing place filled with goodness, love and our family and friends. Most of all, Heaven is where You will be with us, face to face, forever. Help me to understand this more and more every day, and help the reality of Heaven stir me up into passionate evangelism so that others can join me there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” (Matthew 18:5-7)

The Holy Bible mentions several people involved in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is something that you rarely, if ever, find in fairy tales and folklore. You find Mary Magdalene, Joseph of Arimethea, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, and five hundred other witnesses. Either this was the most cleverly concocted hoax ever perpetuated on the world even fooling Roman politicians and Jewish spiritual leaders, or it really was the most pivotal event in human history.

The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus are historically recorded events that would stand up in a court of law.

The intriguing thing to think about is that how you look at this tells how you look at the following: heaven, hell, life, death, faith, love and forgiveness. There were five hundred witnesses and some of them were famous. There was overwhelming and undeniable proof!

Millions and millions of lives today have changed because of this, including mine. Even the calendar itself forever changed with the birth and death of Jesus BC (Before Christ) and AD (After Death). The church would forever after worship on Sunday.

When I look around at the world today and how there is so much apathy, the majority of society absolutely does not care what is right or wrong. Sin is so prevalent everywhere we look. As the Bible predicts, its not hard to see that we are living in the end times.

Are you still waiting for more information before you believe? I assure you, that enough proof and information is available to make an educated decision but it still requires a step of faith?

Take the chance. I did, My life was forever changed for the better. Today can be the start of a brand new life for you. Ask God to forgive you right now and He will.

“Jesus claimed the power to heal illness. He did it. He also claimed He had the power to forgive sins. He did it.”

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, Thank You for dying for me so that I could be forgiven. Thank You for being resurrected, and that I could have a new life. I ask You to forgive me of all of my sins. Lord, I have done wrong things, and I am sorry. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Please give me the power to live for You, all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If You prayed that prayer with faith, Congratulations, you just made the best decision you will ever make or recommitted yourself to following Jesus. He will change you life! If you didnt, please don’t dismiss what you see around you everyday… the proff you need is everywhere you look… You neednonly Faith to beleive, once you do everything will become in focus.

“I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; In the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him.” (Song of Solomon 3:2)

In the Song of Solomon, we see that Solomon’s bride-to-be desired to be with her beloved in a major way. She was caught up in her emotions and began dreaming of running through the city to find him and bring him back to her bed chamber. While her love and desire was not a bad thing, they were beginning to take her down a dangerous path.

Whether it is a love we have towards someone, sadness over a loss or anger over an injustice, we have all faced overwhelming emotions. So what are we to do with those emotions? First, we must understand that emotions are a gift and when used properly, they can help us experience life to the fullest. The dangerous part is when we allow the emotions to control us rather than us controlling our emotions. Secondly, we must understand how to best control our emotions. This is done through the power and understanding of God’s Word. When we are faced with anxiety, we should respond in thanksgiving to God (Philippians 4:6-7). When anger burns in our hearts, we can respond by looking at the cross and remembering what God did for us (Ephesians 4:31-32). In the case of lust, we must deny ourselves and turn to Christ (2 Timothy 2:22). When we filter our emotions through God’s Word, we will find peace, joy and the ability to persevere no matter the circumstance we face.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,  Thank You for creating me with emotions so that I can experience life all around me. Give me the wisdom and guidance to control my emotions so that they don’t control me. Speak to me through Your Word and guide me by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“And about that time there arose a great commotion about the Way.”(Acts 19:23)

The people of Ephesus either loved Paul or hated Paul. Why? Paul had a holy restlessness, a stirring in his heart that drove him to great lengths to share the Gospel message. It is important we understand that Christianity is not just about getting along with everybody. All of us are individually gifted and crafted for a unique purpose, but it doesn’t end there. If we do not use our gifts, it profits no one. In the same way, if our relationship with one another does not transform us, it’s not much of a relationship. Ministry changes people. It puts people together in situations that are often uncomfortable and stretches us in ways that we never thought possible. It causes us to drop our masks and be honest with one another.

(Hebrews 10:24) “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.”

We are to think about one another and how we can love and encourage one another. We are to stir up (Encourage) love and good works in one another. This is not always going to be comfortable, and it is not always going to be received in the way that we intended. Maybe that’s why the very next verse in Hebrews reads,

(Hebrews 10:25) “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

I find it interesting that the verse telling us to stir up love and good works in one another is followed by a verse telling us to stay in fellowship. Why? Well, sometimes we can be offended by another’s encouragement. We’ve been chugging along thinking we’re doing great and then someone offers a word of encouragement that stirs up our heart. Without taking time to pray about it, we make a decision to leave or disconnect from fellowship.

One of the resources God has provided for meeting our needs is other believers. When we sacrifice fellowship for comfort, we’re like an antelope separated from the herd. Suddenly, it’s not a question of ‘if’ we will be attacked, but ‘when’ we will be attacked.

“Don’t run from ministry, engage in it as a team..”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You so much for the family that You have placed around me. Please give me a burden for the lost. Give me a burden to minister and encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. Please take away any fear I have of doing this, and forgive me for the times when I have neglected to do this. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” (Psalm 28:7)

Each time that he said that he was sorry, I honestly wanted to beleive that he meant it

I knew at that point he was sincere just like before, but part of me wanted to give up on trusting him altogether. Why trust someone who might let you down again?

In fact, why trust at all? Why not just close my heart and keep it safe from any potential harm?

King David understood this struggle. In Psalm 28, David asks God for help. Many scholars believe that this was written at the end of David’s life. At this point, he knows what it is to hide from words and actions that harm. He understands how it feels to be surrounded by people who say they are loyal to him, but sometimes let him down.

Even at this late stage, it may have been tempting to shut everyone out and never trust again … not just the people who intentionally sought to harm him, but those who loved him and messed up. It might have even crossed his mind that he should trust no one at all.

Instead, in verse 7 we see David’s thoughts and attitude change and find him singing a beautiful song to his Heavenly Father. In this place of hurt and uncertainty, he reveals a secret: He can trust because God is trustworthy.

With my son, I found that same hope, but had to get out of Gods way. It wasnt until then that My son had realized that he had nothing left…

The Lord is our strength and shield.

Like a triple-plated silver shield, David needed God’s protection for his heart. David may have wanted to isolate, but God had handwritten a plan for his life. People were an integral part of that blueprint.

The reality is that people are messy. My son was a mess, his addiction had cost him almost everything. Sometimes I’m a mess, too. The actions he chose to do really did hurt me and I need to work through it, but God’s shield of protection allows me to see the areas where He was still working in me. It also offered His truth to counterbalance hurtful actions.This shield allowed me to approach him from a place of resolution, rather than a place of offense or retaliation.

Our hearts trust in Him and He helps us.

We need wisdom to know what to say, when to say it and when to hold those words back. God offers that guidance (James 1:5).

We need discernment over what is ours to fix and when to step back as God does His part (Psalm 55:22).

We need to know what to do when someone is destructive or unwilling to change, and how to transfer our trust to God in that hard situation, rather than take matters into our own hands. We can ask for hope and healing in our hearts while God performs His work in someone else’s heart.

Our hearts leap for joy, and with a song when we praise Him.

Conflicts, difficult conversations or poor behavior can make you want to give up or shut people out completely. In David’s case, trusting in God produced a strong foundation that led him out of seclusion and into a plan and a purpose.

Like David, have you been tempted to climb into a cave of isolation?

Do you sense God asking you to trust again? Maybe not even in a specific person, but in Him? In others? In the fact that He’s completely with you as you run after His plan for your life?.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I praise and love You..but most of all I Trust You. In the past when someone has deliberately broken my heart, my response has always been to hide or build a wall. Thank You for wisdom, compassion and discernment as I trust in You first, Continue to give me the strengh to stay away from people that continually hurt me because they do not want to change. You show me how to trust others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Praise Report... Today marks 6 months that my son has been clean and off of drugs.  I praise you in all that You do Lord, Thank you for giving me the strengh to get out of Your way and let you work in his heart..

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:” (2 Corinthians 1:1)

“Who are you?” I’m not asking what your name is but rather who you are as a person. When faced with that question, usually our first response is something like, “I’m a church member” or “I work at an office” but those answers are not who you are but what you do. To really see who you are you need to look past yourself and understand who you belong to.

Many people may not realize it, but we all are in one of two camps. We are either children of God or children of the devil. Now many may find that hard to believe, but Jesus made it clear in John 8:44 when he was speaking to the Pharisees. He said, “For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does.” In very clear terms, Jesus declares those who do evil to be of the devil. Well if that’s the case, how can any of us become children of God when we have all done evil? The answer is found in one name – Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, He took our sins with Him. They were buried never to be remembered. Now, when we ask Jesus to forgive us and believe in His death and resurrection, we are adopted into His family to become children of God.

(John 1:12) “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:”

So now that you understand the question, let me ask again… “Who are you?”

“Our primary identity is not in what we do but in who we are or ‘whose’ we are.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that I have sinned and done evil in Your sight. Today, I come to You and pray that You would forgive me of my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again and trust in His sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can live for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12)

“Fight the good fight” is a phrase heard and used in many times. You will often hear it used referring to the fight to do what’s right. This is a good understanding of what Paul is speaking of, and yet there is more to it. Paul is not simply asking Timothy to put up a fight for things that are good, he is calling Timothy and all believers to hold firmly to their faith no matter the cost. In short, he is telling believers to not just say you follow Jesus but to actually live it. Paul recognized the confession of those whom he was writing, and yet he is challenging them to actually live out the calling that God has given them.

Today, the same challenge remains. We aren’t called to give lip service to God but to actually serve Him. Were not called to just confess our love for Him but to show it through sharing our faith, loving others and giving to the Lord. All these things are an outpouring of God’s love in our heart.

Today, no matter what you have planned, be ready to be used of God in a mighty way. When it comes, hold tight to the faith and fight the good fight so that all the world will see Jesus in you.

“Eternal life begins by 1st choosing Christ, and then it’s a choice you make daily to surender to His will… it’s a daily choice to do what’s right“

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that life is difficult and sometimes it can be hard for me to live out the faith that I confess. Please help me to try my very best to do what is right in Your eyes. I ask that You would give me a boldness to share my faith and love others unconditionally. Help me to see opportunities to live out Your love today and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Seeking Jesus in your life?

Jesus Christ says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20)

The Bible promises eternal life to all who receive Christ: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11-13)

If you have not asked Jesus into your life you can receive Jesus Christ right now by faith through prayer.

Prayer is just talking with God. He knows your heart, so don’t worry about getting your words just right. Here is a suggested prayer to guide you:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive you as my Saviour and Lord. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have done this, then congratulations! (Luke 15:7) says that when one sinner accepts Jesus Christ as his or her Saviour the angels rejoice. So there’s a party going on in heaven right now over your decision! Remember this date as your “second birthday,” the day you were born into a new life in Christ! You have God’s Word that he answered your prayer.

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. (John 18:10)

Sometimes in life, we face challenging moments. This moment was a summons to contest for Peter. Even with all that Jesus had taught him and with all that he had learned, he still had to make personal application. Peter had to learn how to do it God’s way and not his own. Do not lean to your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

I think that is something all of us have to learn. We would like to learn it all at once or all in one sitting, but that’s not the way it happens. Most of us will have many opportunities, in some, we will succeed beautifully and in others, we will fail miserably. Each day that we awake, however, brings us the glorious chance for a fresh start and a new beginning. It is important to remember that and, in that process, we need to be careful of the ears.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for growing me. Thank You for not being content to leave me as I am because what I am is not as good as what You want me to be. Lord, I may squirm and protest against the process but please continue to conform me to the image of Your Son. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
