January 11th 2024 – Encouraging Others

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

In this fast-paced world, it’s easy to become so absorbed in our own lives and struggles that we forget the power of encouragement. As Christians, we are called to uplift and support one another, spreading the love and hope of Christ. Today, let us reflect on the importance of encouraging others and how we can actively participate in this transformative act.

1. The Power of Words:

Our words have the ability to either uplift or tear down others. Proverbs 16:24 reminds us that “kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body” (NLT). When we intentionally choose to speak words of encouragement, we have the opportunity to bring joy and healing to those around us. Let us be mindful of our words and seek to use them to build others up.

2. Recognizing Potential:

Encouragement goes beyond simple compliments. It involves recognizing the potential and strengths in others, even when they may not see it themselves. Just as Jesus saw the potential in His disciples and encouraged them to fulfill their purpose, we are called to do the same. Let us be attentive to the gifts and talents of those around us and offer words of affirmation to help them realize their full potential in Christ.

3. Acts of Kindness:

Encouragement is not limited to words alone; it can also be expressed through actions. Small acts of kindness, such as lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, or providing practical support, can have a profound impact on someone’s day. By demonstrating Christ’s love through our actions, we can encourage and uplift others in tangible ways.

4. Praying for Strength and Guidance:

Sometimes, the best way to encourage others is through prayer. As we intercede on behalf of our brothers and sisters, we can ask God to grant them strength, wisdom, and guidance in their journey. Prayer has the power to uplift spirits, bring comfort in difficult times, and remind others that they are not alone. Let us commit to praying for one another regularly, knowing that our prayers can make a difference.

As followers of Christ, we have been called to be agents of encouragement in a world that often feels discouraging. By speaking words of kindness, recognizing potential, performing acts of kindness, and praying for one another, we can bring hope and light into the lives of those around us. May we never underestimate the impact our encouragement can have on others, and may we continually strive to be a source of strength and inspiration in their lives.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, We come before you today with grateful hearts, recognizing that you are the ultimate source of strength and encouragement. We thank you for the gift of community and the opportunity to uplift and support one another in times of need. Today, we lift up those around us who are in need of encouragement, and we ask for your guidance and grace as we pray for them.

Lord, we pray for those who are feeling discouraged and defeated. May they find comfort in your presence and be reminded of your unfailing love. Help them to see the hope and possibilities that lie ahead, knowing that through you, all things are possible.

We pray for those who are facing challenges and obstacles. Give them the strength and perseverance to overcome, knowing that you are with them every step of the way. Fill them with your peace and assurance, knowing that you are their refuge and strength in times of trouble.

Lord, we also pray for those who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. Surround them with your love and send them companionship and support. Help us to be attentive to their needs and extend a helping hand or a listening ear. May they feel your presence through the kindness and compassion of others.

Father, we ask that you would reveal the unique gifts and talents you have placed within each person. Give them the confidence and courage to step into their calling and make a difference in the world. Open doors of opportunity for them and provide the resources and guidance they need to fulfill their purpose.

Help us to encourage one another, build each other up, and demonstrate your love to the world. May our words and actions be a reflection of your grace and truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

January 1st 2024 – A Fresh New Start

December 31st 2023 – If God Gave You A Watch

“Then what’s the advantage of being a Jew? Is there any value in the ceremony of circumcision? Yes, there are great benefits! First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God.” Romans 3:1-2

A.W. Tozer once said, “If God gave you a watch, would you honor Him more by asking Him what time it is or by simply consulting the watch.” God has provided us with the instruction book He authored and it is our responsibility to read it and heed it. Never forget that there are places in this world where simply possessing a Bible brings a death sentence. Many Christians have been martyred and continue to be in astounding numbers across the globe for the very thing which many of us take for granted.

God has blessed you with a Bible and with the freedom to read it. What shall you do with it? Is it simply a ‘coffee table’ book, a drink coaster or a paperweight? Does it sit unused on a bookshelf? The Bible, which God has given you, will keep you and your family from an abundance of pain and trouble. It can save your marriage, your children and even your life, but only if you read, study and apply it. It is the very Word of God.

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

I want to encourage you to study your Bible. Make certain that you and your family faithfully attend a Bible teaching church. Get into the habit of praying and reading your Bible daily. Lead your family in prayer and devotions. Be diligent to do these things, and you will be amazed by the changes, miracles and blessings that are poured out on you and your family.

“There is a blessing and a responsibility in having a Bible.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me Your Bible. Please forgive me if I have been slack in reading and studying it. I ask You to give me a hunger for Your Word. Open my heart to receive Your counsel and do the things You tell me. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

December 29th 2023 – The Encounter

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” (John 4:13-15)

Have you ever felt you messed up so badly that it left you believing God wants nothing to do with you? If your answer is “yes,” then you’re in good company, because we all have. We’ve all made poor choices and bad decisions. A bad decision can cost you your marriage, job, friendships and even your peace of mind.

But, if you’re willing to admit you’ve messed up, you’re a prime candidate for an encounter with Jesus. In fact, He specializes in ministering to messed-up people. One of the many things I love about Jesus is that He gravitates toward those who are typically ignored, ridiculed, hated and rejected.

One of the greatest examples of this is found in the book of John. In chapter 4, Jesus encounters a woman at a well. This nameless woman meets Jesus while she performs one of the most mundane tasks in her messed-up life, drawing water out of a well.

She quickly learned a lesson we all need to know as well, a shameful outcast can become loved and accepted when we let Jesus clean up our mess-ups and radically change our lives. Jesus wants to clean up our mess-ups so much that He will break down every possible barrier to do so.

For example, to meet the woman at the well …

Jesus overcame a cultural barrier. Jesus traveled through a region that His people, the Jews would always avoid. Jesus saw culture, not as a barrier to compassion, but as a bridge to ministry.

Jesus overcomes moral barriers.

This woman carried a terrible reputation. She had been married five times and was now living with a man who wasn’t her husband. With that type of track record, everyone in her community knew about her, and no man would dare to speak with her openly in public. No man, except Jesus! Jesus engaged with this woman, and we see her fess up to her mess-up.

Unfortunately we live in a culture that teaches us to hide our mess-ups and call them anything except the sins that they are. Jesus demonstrated through the woman at the well, that He will forgive us when we are willing to confess our sin to Him.

Jesus is not intimidated by our past.

He sees beyond our failures and offers us a faithful future. You could never do anything so bad that it would cause God to love you less.

If you’re reading this today and feel like Jesus wants nothing to do with you, I want you to know that He will break every possible barrier to reach you. Jesus is so serious about the task that He left heaven and came to earth to restore anyone who is willing to be cleansed. Today, you can meet with Jesus, bring Him your mess-ups, and allow Him to clean you up.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Please destroy every possible barrier that could keep me from You. Help me to quickly fess up to my mess-ups, so that I can receive the wonderful forgiveness that is only found in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

December 28th 2023- New Beginnings

“The earth is full of his unfailing love.” (Psalm 33:5)

New beginnings often give us a sense of hope and joy. Newly married couples radiate happiness on their wedding day. Choosing a new place to live is often an exciting adventure. There’s a certain energy that accompanies the start of a new job. As we are are celebrating the season of Christmas and the new year approaching fast, keep in mind that God designed creation to give us a similar sense of hope and joy. Before sin entered the world, creation radiated God’s justice, faithfulness, and love. God’s word, by which the heavens and the earth were created, gave structure and meaning to all created things.

At times, we still catch glimpses of this beauty and joy in creation. We marvel at the majestic views of a beach and ocean. We watch the sun set over the water. We wonder at the complex patterns of frost etched on our window panes. We admire the fresh snow blanketing trees in the winter. And when spring comes, we are delighted with the first blade of grass or the first blooming flower.

Too often, though, in our hurry through life we miss the creative majesty of God at work. What’s new soon becomes old, and we feel no reason to offer praise or even take notice. As you enter this new year, ask God to help you instead to observe something new each day about his unfailing love in creation.

Don’t hurry through life we miss God’s creative majesty at work.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, the stars and the seas declare Your goodness and love. By your Holy Spirit, help us do the same. Open my heart and my eyes to see You Lord while observing creation all around me. Also Lord, help me to begin to have hopeand dreams again. Help me to begin to seek You deeper then ever before. Help me to begin to love others deeper then ever before. Thank You for my family and my friends. May I never forget that in each day comes a new beginning. In Jesus’ precious and glorious name I pray, Amen.

December 27th 2023 – Inspire Someone Today

But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. (Acts 9:27)

And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, (Acts 4:36)

Barnabas was used by God to encourage Saul. He could have turned away from Saul in disbelief, but instead he encouraged him. Encouraging another person is one of the easiest and most effective ways to influence someone’s walk with the Lord. We pray for one another, but often the person may not know we are praying for them. It is only when we give them encouragement that they know. Do you like being encouraged? Of course you do. We all like to be encouraged. In fact, we all need encouragement. It only takes a few moments of time to inspire someone. A small amount of effort can make all the difference in the world. The next time you need encouragement, look for the opportunity to give encouragement to someone else.

“Inspire someone with encouragement”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Please use me to encourage someone today. Help me to look for someone that is down or hurting. Give me the strength to encourage them in the things of the Lord. For some people, this may be pointing to the fact their sins could be forgiven. For others it may point to the fact that their sins have been forgiven. Give me the strength to encourage others in the same way that I would want to be encouraged. Thank You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

December 26th 2023 -Peace Be With You, May You Be Well

“Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” (John 20:19)

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” (John 20:21)

“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

The issue of peace seems to be very important to God. Real peace is more than just the ‘absence of war’. Real peace is Shalom (shal-lom) – a Hebrew word meaning justice, prosperity, good fellowship and health … a blessed and fulfilled life by the gracious hand of God. People the world over strive and churn hunting for emotional peace, financial peace or spiritual peace. We spend so much energy trying to find something God wants to give us for free.

How about you, do you have shalom? What does it take to ‘derail’ your peace? A small thing, a big thing or do you have the peace of God that stays with you even in the most trying situations? That is the peace God offers, a peace that surpasses all understanding. In other words, even in the midst of trial or temptation, when you shouldn’t have peace, you have it. What a gift from God. Turn off the TV, cell phone, log off of the internet and spend a few minutes with the God that offers you more lasting peace than anyone or anything else. In that time, may the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you His peace. Shalom Aleichem means “may you be well”, so Shalom Aleichem to you, my friend.

“We can have peace with God.”

Prayer:

“Heavenly Father, we come to you today in prayer for peace or “Shalom” in our lives and in the world. We ask for your presence to be with us, guiding us towards a state of inner peace and harmony. Help us to let go of any negativity and replace it with your love and light.

We pray for peace in our relationships, both with ourselves and with others. May we learn to show love and understanding towards one another, even in times of difficulty. And may our relationships be filled with forgiveness and compassion.

Lord, we also pray for peace in our communities and the world. So many are suffering from violence, conflict, and injustice. We ask for your healing and transforming power to bring unity and understanding among all people.

Finally, we pray for a deep sense of Shalom or peace within ourselves. May we find rest and comfort in your presence, knowing that you are always with us. Thank you for your love, and may your peace reign in our hearts and in the world. Give me the power to live for You in every moment of my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

December 25th 2023 – The Miracle of Christmas

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

On this blessed Christmas Day, we celebrate the miracle that unfolded in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago. It is a day filled with joy, hope, and the profound realization that God’s love for us is boundless. In this devotion, let us reflect on the significance of the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World, and how His presence in our lives brings us everlasting peace and salvation.

As we gather around the manger in our hearts, let us ponder the magnitude of the gift God has given us on this holy day. In the humblest of settings, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born as a baby, taking on the form of humanity. This miraculous event marked the beginning of a divine plan to reconcile humanity to God and bring salvation to all who believe.

The birth of Jesus reminds us that God’s love transcends time and space. It is a love that reaches into the depths of our souls, bringing hope to the hopeless and healing to the brokenhearted. In Jesus, we find the embodiment of God’s grace and mercy, as He willingly laid down His life for our redemption.

How to apply this miracle to our lives.

1. Embracing the Gift of Salvation:

On this Christmas Day, let us embrace the gift of salvation offered through Jesus Christ. It is not just a historical event but a personal invitation to experience the transformative power of His love. Take a moment to reflect on the significance of Jesus’ birth and the impact it has on your life. Surrender your heart to Him and allow His presence to bring you peace, joy, and eternal life.

2. Sharing the Light of Christ:

As followers of Jesus, we are called to be His ambassadors in the world. Let the light of Christ shine through you, illuminating the lives of those around you. Share the message of His love, hope, and salvation with others who may be searching for meaning and purpose. Let your actions and words reflect the love and compassion that Jesus exemplified during His time on Earth.

3. Gratitude and Worship:

Christmas Day is a time for gratitude and worship. Express your thankfulness to God for the greatest gift ever given – His Son, Jesus Christ. Worship Him with a heart overflowing with praise and adoration. Sing carols, read Scripture, and spend time in prayer, acknowledging the magnitude of His love and the blessings He has bestowed upon you.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on this Christmas Day, let us be reminded of the miracle that took place in Bethlehem. Through His birth, life, death, and resurrection, Jesus has brought us the gift of salvation and eternal life. May His presence be felt in our lives today and always, guiding us, comforting us, and filling us with hope. May we carry the message of His love to the world, shining His light in the darkness and bringing joy to all we encounter.

Jesus Christ came to this earth to seek and save those of us who are lost, just as a shepherd seeks a lost sheep.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, on this Christmas Day, we thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. May His presence fill our hearts with joy and peace. Help us to be vessels of His love, sharing the message of salvation with those around us. May this day be a reminder of your boundless love and the hope we have in Christ. In His precious name, we pray. Amen.

Salvation is a gift from God.

Ask God for your Gift!

Eternal Salvation is a gift from God that will enable you to spend eternity in Heaven. To receive this gift, you need to accept Christ into your life by confessing with your mouth,  a prayer of salvation. You must also repent and turn away from your sins and begin living a life that is pleasing to God. If you feel you have done too many bad things for God to forgive you, you are wrong. Jesus died a brutal death on the cross for the sins of all mankind.

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”(John 14:6)

Whether you are old or young, rich or poor, a liar, a thief, an adulterer, a murder and so on, if you truly repent with a sincere heart and accept Jesus, YOU WILL BE SAVED…. Say a Prayer of Salvation & Ask Jesus Into Your Heart Now!

“Heavenly Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

December 24th 2023 – The Real Purpose of Christmas

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:1)

This is always a busy time of year for almost everyone. For us as Christians, it’s been a joyful celebration of the birth of Jesus. We marvel at the fact that God humbled Himself and was born in a cave. But why did He come?

First, Jesus Christ came to proclaim good news to the spiritually hurting, to preach the good news to us.

He came to heal the broken-hearted. Isnt it interesting that with all the advancements in medical science, they found ways to reduce and even remove pain. But there is pain relief or cure for a broken heart.

Jesus came to set people free who are bound by sin. Jesus came to open our spiritual eyes to our spiritual need.

He came to lift up those who have been crushed by life. He came to give us abundant life. Jesus came to lift us from the physical realm of the senses to the spiritual realm to show us that there is more to life.

He came to give His life for us. Jesus said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). He came to die.

On this evening over 2000 years ago ,Jesus Christ came to this earth for you and me. So we can come to Him to give our lives purpose and meaning, to forgive us of our sins, and to give us the hope of Heaven beyond the grave. Christmas is not about trees and flashing lights or shopping and presents. Christmas is not about the gifts under the tree. Rather, Christmas is about the gift that was given on the tree when Christ died there for our sins and gave us the gift of eternal life.

“Jesus Christ came to this earth to seek and save those of us who are lost, just as a shepherd seeks a lost sheep.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You that You would leave heaven to come, suffer and die for me. You are the Gift of all Gifts. Sometimes I have neglected the gift that You gave, forgive me. Lord, I have been blessed by You. Thank You for Your incredible plan for my salvation. I will continue to give all of my life to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Salvation is a gift from God, not a reward.

Ask God for your Gift!

Eternal Salvation is a gift from God that will enable you to spend eternity in Heaven. December 23rd 2023 – Pathway of Life

“And if Timothy comes, see that he may be with you without fear; for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do.” (1 Corinthians 16:10)

Every person who has ever lived has faced difficult decisions. Some decisions were very obvious while others were not. For those of us who are following Christ, we have a great resource for making decisions. This resource comes through the relationship we have with Jesus. Through His Word and the direction of His Spirit, we are better equipped to walk down the path He desires for us. We can trust the path because He is leading us and loves us, even when the path gets hard.

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)

So how do we go about seeking the path God desires for us? First, we need to know God’s Word. As we read His Word, we will be able to understand God’s guidelines and promises. These will help guide our steps. In those moments where we are unsure, we should seek godly counsel as well as pray for the Holy Spirit’s help in discerning where next to step. Finally, we step out in faithtrusting our Lord who is able to help us along the way. When we trip and fall, God’s grace is there to catch us. When we face an obstacle, His strength will help us overcome. When we finally reach our destination, He will personally usher us into His presence. This is the promise we have in Jesus.

“God will direct our footsteps as we listen to Him and trust Him.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for Your guiding hand. Not only have You forgiven me of my sins, but You are involved in the details of my life and desire to lead me every day. Lord, help me to be sensitive to Your Spirit and knowledgeable of Your Word so that I will make wise decisions. In Jesus name, Amen.

Lost your way? Looking for meaning and direction? I encourage you not to pass up the precious gift of His love and eternal life. Jesus died on the cross for you and me. He loves us and wants to help us. If you have not asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior please click here4 Simple Steps to Jesus
